Luna Lovegood watched her friends leave for work. She sat back down at the kitchen table. She sipped her chamomile tea. She was rather excited, it was her first day of uni after all. She looked at the clock. It was time to leave for school. She pulled her wavy hair into a bun. She grabbed her light blue flower cardigan, it was her favorite after all. She stepped out of grimmauld place and made her way down to the end of the square. A few people were looking at her from their window. Luna waved animatedly. They quickly closed their blinds. How odd Luna thought. She walked on and made her way towards the school. She could apparate but London was a pretty city. She would rather walk. She looked around as she walked. Draoidh was not far.
She arrived at the university entrance and looked around. It was a fairly small college, with only 700 students in a class, but to Luna that felt huge. Her year at Hogwarts had only 40 kids. There was a large grassy area in the middle of the campus. On one side were the classrooms, labs and lecture halls. Her and Hermione would spend a lot of time there. On the other side were residential buildings, for freshmen and any other students who chose to live on campus, student centers and the dining hall. In the center were the auditoriums and the libraries. The buildings were much newer than hogwarts.
"Hey watch it," said a person who bumped into Luna. They were pretty with dark hair and almond-shaped eyes.
"Sorry, my name is Luna" Luna stuck out her hand
"Parker" they said, shaking Luna's hand "What do you have first?"
"I have freshman morning orientation" Luna said, looking at the schedule that she had gotten from the owl post
"Which hall?" Parker asked
"Merlín Hall" Luna read
"Me too. Any idea where it is?"
"No, but I'm sure we'll find it," Luna smiled. After a walk through the lecture hall buildings, and several wrong turns, they found Merlín Hall. They looked around for two seats together. There were 2 next to a very familiar looking girl but with an Afro instead of braids.
"Hey! Luna right?" She said
"Hi Juniper!" Luna waved. She pulled Parker over to where Juniper was sitting. "It's nice to see you again,"
"You too, I'm Juniper" she introduced herself
"Parker,"
"Nice to meet you Parker," Juniper said with a smile. Juniper was wearing a sunflower dress and sunflowers in her afro. Luna always liked sunflowers, they reminded her of summer. Parker sat down next to Luna, but Luna wondered if Parker was stealing glances at Juniper or if she was only imagining it.
"Welcome to Draoidh University!" A very familiar looking woman said. "I am Professor Andromeda Tonks, head of the history department. Now, many of you have never met me, but you will. I am your group dean and if you choose to stay, I will be your dean for the next 4 years. As freshmen, you have already selected your first semester classes. You will also be taking your general education courses, such as History, English, Math, Science and Art. If there are any problems please contact your guidance counselor. Your dorms are in Fae Hall. You will have time to unpack after this meeting. When you get your dorm assignments, you will also get a map of campus. Now, I don't want to hold you any longer, so go and unpack" Andromeda walked down the steps as people began to file out of the hall. Juniper was looking over her schedule.
"I'm missing a history class." Juniper frowned.
"I think I have everything," said Parker, looking over their schedule
"Me too!" Luna said "maybe you could join my history elective?" Luna asked
"What are you taking?" asked Juniper
"The occult of the ancient world" Luna read
"That sounds really interesting" Juniper said
"Professor Tonks is teaching it. I'm sure she would let you in"
"I don't know Luna," Parker said. Juniper, Parker and Luna picked up their maps and for Parker and Juniper, their dorm assignments and roommates.
"We can ask her," Luna said, walking towards Andromeda Tonks' office. Juniper and Parker followed her. Luna arrived at the office and knocked on the door. Andromeda Tonks answer
"What is- Oh hello Luna" she said
"Hi Professor Tonks" Luna said with a smile. Much to Juniper and Parker's surprise, a toddler ran up to Luna and Luna picked the kid up "Hi Teddy,"
"Hi Lu lu. Is Airy here?" The child looked behind her and was disappointed
"No, he's at work today," Luna said. Teddy crossed his arms and looked upset.
"Teddy," Andromeda said "go play with Rolf while I talk to Luna"
"Es Gramma"
"Sorry" Andromeda said "What can I help you three with?" Luna waited for Juniper to speak. When Juniper did not figure that out, Parker elbowed her
"Oh, I'm missing a history class and Luna was telling me about your class and I was wondering if I could take it." Juniper said in a rush. Most Professors would probably have a hard time understanding that rush of words but Andromeda had raised Tonks.
"I have an open spot. I'll write your name down" said Andromeda "Luna, I'm very happy to see you, we have a new abroad student in our group and I was hoping you or Hermione could show him around."
"I can, Hermione won't be here until 1"
"Thank you Luna, Rolf, can you please come over here?" Rolf walked over with Teddy in his arms. He was not particularly tall, brunette, and had an awkwardness to him that Luna couldn't quite put into words. "Luna will be showing you around. Rolf has just transferred from an American university, he's a 4th year"
"Thank" he had a northeastern American accent.
"Can I go wif them Gramma?" Teddy asked
"I don't think so Teddy,"
"We can take him for a little bit" Luna said
"I'd rather Teddy stay with me right now," she looked at Luna directly. "It has been a hard day and I'd rather have Teddy nearby to be safe." Luna nodded. She walked out of the office and Rolf, Parker and Juniper followed her. Parker and Juniper were rather confused about what just happened
"So you know Professor Tonks?" Juniper asked
"Yes" Luna said
"So wait, how do you know her?" Parker asked
"Her son in law, Professor Lupin, was my English professor in high school" Luna said "he was one of my best teachers"
"So she trusts her grandkid with all of her son in law's former students?" Parker said sarcastically. Luna thought about Parker's words for a minute
"No, Definitely not" Luna said
"Any particular reason she trusts you?" asked Juniper
"I was friendly with her child, but Ginny was much closer to Tonks than I was." Luna said with a shrug
"Was?" asked Parker. Rolf stiffened but Luna did not notice. Parker did
"Professor Lupin and Tonks died a little over a year ago." Luna said. Juniper and Parker looked shocked and Rolf winced.
"Died?!" asked Juniper
"It was quite sad, but Andromeda is a very strong person," Luna said. Parker was about to ask another question but Rolf's glare was enough to stop them.
"Are you guys in Fae Hall?" Rolf asked
"Yeah" Parker said
"Yep!" said Juniper "what about you Luna?"
"Oh, I'm an off campus student" she said
"I didn't know freshman were allowed to live off campus" Parker said
"I have a pass" she said
"Well, in that case you can help me unpack!" Juniper said with a smile
"Sure," Luna said with a smile. They walked over to Fae Hall. It was a large, academic looking building on the opposite side of the Green. Luna followed Juniper up to the 4th floor, where her room was. Her room was at the end of the hall. Her roommate had already unpacked and had decorated her side of the room with many shades of blue. It reminded Luna of her house, Ravenclaw. Juniper put her large suitcase on the bed. Luna helped her sort through her clothing. Juniper's clothing had a lot of flowers. Juniper played some music while they worked
"I like this dress," Luna said, hanging a blue rose dress
"It's one of my favorites," Juniper said "I've always liked things with flowers. I don't know why, I just always have."
"My friend Neville likes flowers too. He alway kept plants everywhere. He still does" She said
"Really?" asked Juniper "I keep plants too!"
"Well then maybe you would be friends" Luna smiled
"I'm already your friend, so I should be friends too," Juniper said. Luna smiled. She liked having friends.
"Do you like Parker and Rolf?" asked Luna. It was a little bit of a blunt question but Luna had never been afraid of being blunt before.
"They both seem nice," Juniper said. She fidgeted a little bit. "What do you think, Luna?"
"I like Parker. They remind me of Tonks. I think I like Rolf too. He's offly quiet"
An average height girl walked into the dorm. She had long black hair pulled into a ponytail. She looked over at Juniper who was staring back.
"Hi, I'm Juniper Bennet," Juniper said
"Cho Chang" Luna butted in
"Hi Luna, long time no see" Cho said with a smile "My name's Clara Chang but as Luna said, my highschool nickname was Cho"
"Mine was Loony" Luna said
"but please use Clara, Cho is well"
"A bit racist?" Juniper asked
"Yeah my school had its problems" Clara said with a shrug
"Oh, it had many problems," Luna said. Clara glared at her "Hermione got called a slur, Harry got stabbed, Cedric was mur-"
"Ok enough about our old school." Clara cut her off
"I'm sorry, stabbed?"
"I'm a sophomore and I'm studying political journalism"
"I'm a freshman studying art," Juniper said, still thinking about the whole Harry got stabbed thing.
"What are you studying Luna" Clara asked
"Zoology" Luna said.
"Hey Luna, I just got a text from Parker, they want to meet up at the dining hall"
"Ok, see you around Clara" Luna said
"You too Luna" Clara said. They left Juniper's dorm and headed outside. They walked towards the restaurant where Hermione Granger and three other people were waiting
