Luna Lovegood waited for Juniper and her new partner, Astoria. She tried her best to fix her dress. Astoria had chosen the place. It was a fancier place then Luna would unusually dine at. She didn't mind the fancy and judgemental people, but she did mind the stiff fabric of the dress. It was very uncomfortable. Parker also looked uncomfortable in their sports jacket. Many people in the restaurant were staring at them. Luna noticed one couple glaring at them. Luna waved at them, with a big smile on her face. They turned away, bright red. Parker looked around the dining room looking for Juniper and Astoria. Luna and Parker saw Juniper and Astoria as they stepped into the restaurant. Juniper waved at them. Astoria and Juniper sat down across from them.
"Hi guys!" Astoria said "what do you guys think of this place?"
"It's nice," Luna said
Astoria was wearing a short, cap sleeved emerald green dress with silver jewelry. Slytherin colors. Parker was glaring at Astoria. Luna got a feeling that Parker did not like Astoria that much. Juniper looked around the restaurant and shifted slightly around the chair. They were getting mild glares from most of the restaurant. Astoria was the only one who didn't seem to notice.
"So you must be Parker" Astoria said "Juniper has been telling me so much about you"
"Really," asked Parker with their eyebrows raised
"All good things, don't worry" Astoria laughed
"What has Juniper told you?" Parker asked with a clipped tone to their voice
"That you are majoring in mechanical engineering, your dream is to be a civil engineer, Oh, you scrunch up your nose when you're annoyed-
"I don't do that" Parker said, with their nose scrunched up
Luna and Juniper both laughed at that. A waiter came over to take their order. Astoria quickly rattled off a couple of options for the table. Astoria turned her attention to Luna.
"So Luna, how are you? How's your father?"
"He's good," Luna said. She wasn't sure how she felt about Draco's fake girlfriend asking about her dad. She decided that she wasn't sure if she even liked Astoria "he's got the Quibbler up and running again. The next issue should have some great articles"
"Maybe you should get us some copies" Juniper said
"Maybe" Luna mused
"What about your classes? How are they?" She said to them
"They're going fine" Parker said
"I like them," said Luna, chirpier than she had been. "I'm really liking my zoology classes. I've been talking to Alvin Winter from the Newt Scamander institute. I might be able to get an internship there next fall"
"I'm sure you'll get it" Juniper said
"You are Luna Lovegood after all" Astoria said
"What's that supposed to mean?" Parker asked, glaring at Astoria
"Well, Luna was one of the top students in our grade and always made her love of animals pretty clear," Astoria said smoothly. Parker still looked unsure of Astoria
"So Astoria, why are you with Juniper?"
"That was pretty blunt" Juniper muttered
"I'm with her because she's beautiful, kind and smart. Isn't that enough?" Astoria laughed
"Uh huh, so why did you make up some bullshit about a psycho family and then kick Juniper out of your apartment?" Parker sneered. Astoria's demeanor changed in a heartbeat. Her joking smile was replaced by a deep frown
"I didn't lie" she bristled
"So you do have a psycho family who would kill your lover?" Parker pushed. Astoria glared at Parker.
"Yes,"
"And yet you're still going out with Juniper?"
"Yes"
"So you're putting her in a lot of danger, aren't you?" Astoria didn't answer. "And yet you still say you care about her?"
"So suddenly I don't deserve to be happy because of my family?" Parker laughed lightly
"So let's get one thing straight, this is about Juniper, not you"
"What's that supposed to mean"
"Well I think you're a lying selfish bitch but that's my opinion so take that as you will"
"What do you think I'm lying about exactly"
"The whole psycho family thing for one?" Astoria turned to Luna
"Well Luna, am I telling the truth?" All eyes were on Luna
"She is," Luna muttered. There was a shocked silence from Juniper and Parker
"Wait, so your gay boyfriend's cousins were really murdered by his family?" Juniper asked
"Sirius, Remus, Ted and Tonks" Luna wisphered
"Wait, Tonks?" Juniper said
"Like as in Professor Tonks?"
"Her child," Astoria muttered. Juniper's eyes might as well have popped out of their sockets. Parker's mouth was hanging open. Astoria was now glaring at the door
"Shit." Astoria muttered. A blonde woman who looked their age, an older brunette woman and an older blonde woman walked into the restaurant. The brunette and the younger blonde had Astoria's pale skin and blue eyes. The older blonde had paler skin than Astoria and dark, stone grey eyes. The younger woman saw Astoria and waved.
"Fuck" Astoria muttered as the young woman pulled the two older women over. The two blondes stopped when they noticed who Astoria was sitting with. Given what Parker and Juniper knew about Astoria's life they would have assumed that the women were staring at one of them. They were, however, staring at Luna of all people.
"Hello little sister" the blonde said, wrapping Astoria in a hug from behind.
"Hi Daphne" Astoria said with her best fake smile. She turned to face them. "Mother, Mrs. Malfoy"
"Please use Narcissa, Astoria" Narcissa Malfoy said
"Right"
"Astoria, are these friend of yours" her mother asked
"Yes, from Uni"
"Pleasure to meet you" Daphne said with a fake smile that looked almost exactly like Astoria's.
"Yes, this is Parker, Juniper and you already know Luna"
"We didn't mean to interrupt your meal" said Narcissa
"No, it's fine, I was just about to leave to see Draco" She said
"Lovely" Her mother said, looking overjoyed. Narcissa, however, looked uncertain. Astoria picked up her bag and made her way to the door. Narcissa, Astoria's mother and Daphne walked towards another table. Juniper and Parker watched the scene, confused. They were about to speak when they noticed Luna was as pale as a sheet.
