Battletale

The Games Begin

Leaving the underground for the monsters was bittersweet. Humans of this day were less combative towards them but Ryven worried slightly. Soon though the monsters found homes with mages some with the warrior guild others with the tech and some with the cooking guild. The mages continued vying for the top spot. It was owned by Chara a child with a brutal personality. Second was a mage with an icy personality. The third spot was owned by an oddball mage. She oddly enough was not hard to beat. G seemed to have an interesting liking for combat thriving on it like an adrenaline junky to a sky diving competition. Ryven was quick with his healing and nullifying magic and G hammered them with blows from every direction. They made an oddly effective team against the competition. So much that Chara took notice. She started watching their matches as if trying to find a weakness. It was not uncommon to have mages do such a thing. Pretty soon Ryven's matches were packed of past and possible opponents.

Unlike the others though Ryven would also put on concerts singing for the crowd getting them hyped up for the battle. He was making a mark. He was changing up the game. The other mages were amused by it and the normal people loved to watch them. Ryven sang and Danced for the crowd as G provided effects for it. The two of them would often push it as if to make their matches more about the show then the violence afterwards. Pretty soon the other mage's matches were all empty. The people just didn't care. Chara didn't like this. Her gold was drying up. How dare that little upstart do such a thing. She growled then screamed mostly taking it out on her opponent a smirk coming as she turned snapping her fingers. "Lets go Azriel.."

The lost prince.. G raised one brow at this before a grin would come vanishing. So that's what happened to him.. Interesting thought there..

G would vanish using a shortcut to get home. Ryven had moved into a bigger apartment sharing it with G. It was only natural that he should live with the other. They were connected there was no getting around it. They were in one anothers life even if society didn't like it. The first time an opposing mage called Ryven a monster lover G squashed it effectively.

"Monster lover.."

The resounding slap as bone struck flesh made Ryven jump his eyes widening. He'd known G could have a wicked protective streak but didn't know how bad it could be. His hands reaching to grip G's arm. "G...Stop..Save it for the arena.." G glared before looking to the side walking away. The mage just stood blinking like they couldn't believe that had happened.

That night Ryven's concert was explosive. That's when Ryven realized how much G cared.. He realized that G used the concerts to get into the right mindset. It was at that point Ryven decided to ask G about it. He included the other in the planning. Often his concerts were both entertaining and memorable. Songs geared towards spreading a simple message here and there. Sometimes he would do covers of songs that were popular after asking the owners.

The first time Ryven put on a show it was due to a Techno mage. They in his opinion were the hardest because their magic was unpredictable. It wasn't elemental based so they were a really hard case to get a read on.

"Can you beat my techno dance?" The mage laughed as Ryven clenched one hand. He knew this spell it forced the opponent to fight using rhythm otherwise their attacks wouldn't hit. He hated that spell and looked frustrated before G grinned his eyes brightening. "Come on princess lets give them a show them.. They want Rhythm lets give it to them.. Give us a song.."

Ryven froze up for a moment before just holding one hand up. "I answer the challenge… Rhythmic stage!"

The stage glowed brightly for a moment before Ryven's spell set it's self up colored panels showing up. G grinned before starting to dance keeping rhythm with the song that played. Bones hammered the opponents guardian as Ryven sang. The people were confused they didn't know if they should watch the mage or the guardian. Both were preforming so well. Left right left right the colored lights moved faster and faster as the spells clashed. G posed one hand in the air snapping his fingers. For the first time the arena went silent as Gaster Blasters formed perfectly glowing to the rhythm of the music. Without missing a beat Ryven looked to G before leaping onto the Blaster closest to him. G's eyes widened but Ryven smiled softly. The only way they could break that spell was a Combo.

Music was in everything. It was everywhere. In dance in song and as Ryven sang his magic flooded the Arena hammering the boundary of the other mages spell. Louder, louder still before the lights flickered Ryven's effect was winning. As the other mage was distracted by Ryven's spell G blasted their guardian effectively ending the match.

The people cheered some were even singing the song he had sung. It was amusing it was new. Even the mage's guardians took note of the two working together so seamlessly. It was odd how well they worked. Not just their fighting but also their performing. What they didn't know was the hours the two spent planning and talking on the couch..

"G what song should we do?" Ryven looked up from where he was laying on the couch holding one of his data pads as G looked down amused. "...Click Click Boom…."

Ryven faced palmed then sighed softly looking up. "You know that kind of thing isn't allowed..They want a clean performance.." G shrugged slightly before lighting a smoke making Ryven raise one brow. "..Your lucky we're talking or I'd make you take that outside.."

G smirked before shrugging. "Eh order me around..You really are a princess.."

Ryven smacked G with a pillow rolling his eyes as the Skeleton laughed. "Hahaha!"

Ryven sighed looking up before speaking softly one hand moving to rest on G's chin. "I'm serious..I think doing a concert would help people forget about the issues of the world for a little bit..."

Borrowed time..

Ryven halted one hand resting on his chest. His eyes widened before G looked down worriedly. "Ryven what's wrong?"

Ryven smiled shaking his head. "No..It's nothing just..A thought..."

G was silent for a moment before taking a drag of his Cigarette releasing a haze through the room.

"Why do I get the feeling your lying Princess?" G was quiet looking down to Ryven who looked up amusedly. "Cause your smart enough to notice?"

They didn't change.. No matter what they didn't change. They sang they Danced and they got closer. The second match G was fired up about. It was against a aquatic monster named Undyne. Rvven barely knew her from underground mostly cause of her smacking G's arm as she walked by the two of them in a friendly sort of way.

G had smirked showing it was completely a friendly thing they did. He knew her this match was personal.

The arena that night was creepy the fans where looking here and there. Where were they? Where was the music? G appeared in the center of the Arena a grin on his face as he spoke up wearing a headset. "Hello gentlefolk I bet you all expect a song don't you?"

The crowd roared loudly.

G raised one hand."Oh? What's that? You do?"

The crowd roared again making the monster raise his hands in a shrug before he vanished appearing holding Ryven a grin coming. Ryven looked nervously at the other. The crowd soaked it up. A mage who's guardian could perform.. G sang that night the song dark and creepy as Ryven added the effects. The people ate it up more then the fight. Pretty soon they where chanting by name for the two. They would even boo the other mage before Ryven put a stop to it.

"Stop that what is wrong with you all?" Ryven looked sadly at the crowd. "So their not as talented as me and G..That doesn't mean their not giving it all they have..Stop that.."

Undyne looked curious.. Most of the humans they fought had no respect. They had no tact. This mage was different. He had things the others didn't.. The mage Undyne served kept trying to direct her to attack Ryven directly Undyne wouldn't do it. She was nervous of G's cold gaze on her Summoner. To a Guardian the life of a summoner was more important then their own.

Undyne kept hammering G who grinned harder and harder as he fought back. Undyne's nickname was the undying.. She lived up to it when her spear went through San's chest making the smile leave his face. For a moment he just stared at her before she pulled her spear out. "Sorry Sans.."

Ryven closed his eyes before biting his lip the crowd was on the edge of their seats. He couldn't let it end like this. His eyes closing as he brought his hands together speaking softly. "...Grant me the power of the soul.. Resurrection!" A white flower bloomed around Sans's body before folding around him. The flower glowed before G reappeared on his feet one hand held up."Tch..Don't you know? My summoner is top notch fishie.."

Undyne had respect for the mage she knew that magic. She eyed her flabbergasted mage before rolling her eyes. "At least your's is competent.."

Hers was a wreck after the match not that they were bad. They just didn't specialize in healing like Ryven did. They didn't know that spell. Undyne approached Ryven and G on the way out of the arena that night before speaking. "Sup Princess?"

G snickered Ryven stared before sighing softly. "I am never going to escape that name am I?"

Undyne grinned before holding a hand towards Ryven and G speaking softly. "No hard feelings nerds?"

G waved one hand as Ryven smiled shaking his head and her hand. "No..No hard feelings.."

Undyne grinned before waving running to meet her girlfriend the two walking away. Guardians had a life outside of the arena.. G enjoyed listening to music cooking and he would drag Ryven out to shop.

Ryven didn't mind but the night of their match against Chara Sans was pushing. He wanted to have Ryven sing a certain song he knew would get under her nerves that night. Ryven was unsure looking to the other. "What if she gets angry?" G would look down a smirk coming. "Then maybe she'll make a mistake..She'll mess up..Besides this isn't gonna be a normal match is it?"

Ryven stared before looking away. "No..It won't be.." He would nod to Sans his eyes half closed before he picked up his headset.

Chara stood in her spot waiting her Guardian looking over the field. Seeing G his eyes widened. "Chara maybe we shouldn't.." Chara glared before speaking. "Azriel don't be a baby he's one Guardian what's he gonna do.."

Ryven stared before pointing directly at Chara his eyes narrowed. "It's a beautiful day outside..Flowers are blooming..Birds are singing..On days like this kids like you..Should be burning in hell.."

G held one hand up his eyes narrowed before he stuck his thumb down.

For a moment Chara said nothing her eyes sparkling before she spoke coldly. "Azriel..Kill him.."

Killing.. It wasn't uncommon.. A lot of mages had their guardians die in mishaps. The beginning ones did anyways. Azriel looked to Sans before looking to Chara before looking scared. "But..But Chara he'll kill me..."

Chara glared before pushing Azriel "Go you big baby! He's too soft for that!"

Was she talking about G or Ryven? G stood next to Ryven looking to his mage before Speaking."Sorry Princess..I know you don't like to kill but..I don't think your gonna have a choice tonight.."

Ryven stared before speaking softly" I know..It just makes me sad though..He's not my guardian so I can't use magic on him.."

G looked to the other before speaking "Since when did a rule stop you from being nice?"

Ryven smiled softly before shaking his head. "Good point..."
