A loud barking ripped Winry out of sleep, gasping awake she sat up and found herself laying out on the couch she had woken up on when she had been drugged. The first thought was that she had been drugged again, but her memory came back and made her close her eyes and silently curse to herself. She had passed out in Thomas's lap after she had attempted to get loose from his hold.

The next thought had her swallowing hard to stop her gag reflex. The barking started up again and the sound of a boy calling for his dog made Winry open her eyes and suck in a breath when she saw Thomas looking at her from the floor. Sitting by her feet he reached a hand back and nearly palmed one of her calves before she jerked her legs back and slid back till she hit the couch's arm rest. Curling her arms around her legs she opened her mouth but a growl from Monty to 'shh' made her mouth close and she grimaced.

Looking away from Thomas she saw that Luda Mae sat on the plush accent chair Winry had first been sitting in when she had sat next to Marlene when this whole thing had started. Luda Mae was knitting, Sheriff Hoyt sat in the matching chair to her right with a small table between them, an antique lamp gave the sheriff light to read a newspaper that looked old and well read. Since they ignored her, she looked to where Monty sat watching TV, his eyes glued to the tube screen making her wonder how he knew she was going to talk.

Movement on the TV pulled her eyes up and she saw in black and white a border collie barking and a boy asking the dog 'what is it girl', a dip in the couch had her head turning away from the TV. Thomas pulled himself up off of the floor and he sat on the other end of the couch, the antique couch creaked and groaned under his weight, but held him as he sat. Even on opposite sides he made the couch feel tiny.

Thomas stretched his feet out and leaned back making the couch creak again, but his own relaxed groan made Winry stiffen, when he did nothing else she relaxed. Looking at everyone again and they still ignored her, she relaxed further, Winry's brows drew together in confusion as they continued to ignore her. Another bark from the TV drew her attention and she watched the boy follow the dog to a well.

The small amount of adrenaline began to fade and the stiff sitting position began to become uncomfortable, slowly Winry relaxed her back into the arm rest, the only sounds in the room were from the TV, the occasional sound of paper being turned, and the knitting needles clicking. Looking to Thomas she found his chin to his chest and he seemed to be dozing off.

They were like any other normal family.

Watching them was more entertaining than watching the old movie on TV. How could a family that had calmly taken in a group of lost people; act kind, murder said people, and then butcher and eat humans be this normal. Don't forget about kidnapping. Winry nearly nodded, but didn't move, she was too afraid of drawing anyones attention. They mostly acted like she was either an honored guest, or a petulant child, the only time it felt like the act had been broken was when the sheriff had grabbed her and showed his true character. I don't know if I can play along. Her thoughts distracted her and she allowed it. How long till they kill and eat me, am I the family pet cow? She nearly laughed, but covered it with a cough.

"Dry throat dear? I put some sweet tea on the coffee table for you, just sweet tea." Luda Mae nodded after she spoke and went back to her knitting. Thomas had lifted his head to eye her for a moment, but his head dipped again and his lids closed.

He must be tired, he does so much…Her eyes widened and she thought no one noticed her dilemma till the rustling of papers drew her attention and she looked to see Sheriff Hoyt eyeing her over the paper. He winked at her before going back to his reading. No way he knows what I'm thinking… Swallowing to clear her throat, Winry reached for the glass and the movement must have jostled Thomas because he picked up his head again and turned to look directly at her. She couldn't sympathize with him, he killed Marlene and Lee, perhaps had a hand in what happened to Mark. Quickly she dropped her eyes to her glass and watched the liquid quiver and she realized her hands were shaking.

Pressing her arms into her bent legs to help settle her hands Winry took a small sip and waited for a time before taking another sip, when she finally lifted her eyes, Thomas had gone back to dozing once again.

XXX

Two weeks passed by in a blur, it was the same routine day after day. When the family was home she was allowed out of her room, when they were gone she was locked up. The down time had made it easy for her to heal, the bruising and soreness were gone and her right wrist healed up nicely. Winry had been very patient and played at being a very gracious guest, but she still balked at meal time. Luda Mae assured her that they had animal meat, but there was always 'better' meat readily available. She was starting to figure out when they got resupplies because the family would be perkier than usual, but they would also eye her with either worry or annoyance, the annoyance coming from the sheriff.

She couldn't trust them on which meat was which until Luda Mae killed and gutted a chicken in front of her, that had been last week. Animal meat was harder to come by in a dying town and Luda Mae had told Winry that they had to either go to the next town over or a family member would bring something by. When she heard 'family member' she had politely grilled Luda Mae and the older woman had beamed and spoke about the family that surrounded the town or the towns nearby. The shock that there were more of them had stunned Winry, who could she trust if she got away… Not if, when, be positive Winry.

Sitting in the kitchen cleaning jars for Luda Mae so they were ready when she made her preserves, a sound from the front of the house had Winry lifting her head. It was the sound of a car. Though when multiple doors slammed shut Winry realized it wasn't Hoyt and without looking back she jumped up from the table knocking her chair over running out of the kitchen, Luda Mae was yelling Thomas's name, but Winry didn't care. The front door for once had been closed, Winry only cracked it open when a hand slammed the door shut and an arm grabbed around her waist. Before she could scream the hand on the door covered her mouth and she was pulled backwards, kicking her feet and yelling into the hand over her mouth.

Winry knew the feel of Thomas very well by now, he had grabbed and held her any chance he could get over the two weeks he had been softer, but now his grip was tight so she couldn't break free or cry out for help. He shuffled her upstairs while Luda Mae answered the knock at the front door. Winry screamed as hard as she could, but the sound didn't escape Thomas's palm. When they were in her room he let her go, but when his hand let go he forced it back over her mouth when she began to scream. Pulling back only caused Thomas to follow her till she hit the bed with the back of her knees and she fell wide eyed into the mattress.

Thomas leaned over her, keeping the pressure on her mouth. Her hands grabbed at his wrist and squeezed, but he ignored it, his eyes moved down though and she couldn't see what caught his attention. When his other hand touched her bare stomach she realized her shirt had ridden up. Before she could raise her legs to try and knee or kick at him he stepped closer between her legs making it harder for her to strike him with her feet.

Winry started smacking her hands against his arm and then at his chest, her yells muffled by his hand. Only when the hand on her stomach slid to the side and spanned over her waist did she stop moving and looked up to see he was staring into her eyes. His gaze was longing while she glared at him.

A knock at the door caused Thomas to jerk and he turned his head to see his mama at the door. She ignored what was going on and told him, "it was a couple of kids and their father that got lost and Hoyt sent them here. They're downstairs right now." After he nodded she left. Looking down at Winry again he slowly pulled his hand down from her mouth and before she could yell he palmed her mouth again in annoyance and took his hand off of her side to put them to his lips. When she shook her head no he sighed. Not wanting to hurt her he released her and left the room quickly, leaving her door open.

Stunned, Winry stayed on the bed, but when Thomas didn't come back and she didn't hear anything she jumped up and ran out of the room. Reaching the top of the stairs she nearly threw herself down them and landed hard on her feet, she ran into the kitchen and looking in she saw Luda Mae cleaning and at her loud entrance the older woman turned to look at her. "Winry don't do anything foolish, go to your room." The tone she used was like any mother who scolded her child for misbehaving.

Frowning at Luda Mae before she turned back out into the hall and ran to the living room where she saw three new people, two men and a woman. Nearly launching into the room wide eyed and panicked she yelled at them frantically, "Leave now!" The men stood and put themselves between her and the other woman.

"Now calm down, the older woman invited us in. I'm Stan, these are my kids Derek and Helen." The man closest to Winry spoke, he was older with graying brown hair, his skin was wrinkled from age and too much time in the sun.

"Dad…" Helen sounded concerned, she slowly stood and put her pale hands into the black shirt of the younger man in front of her. Her long black hair was frizzy from the heat and fluffed around her face nearly hiding it.

Derek reached a hand back behind him to grab the hand of his sister and spoke softly to reassure her. "It's ok Helen, me and dad got this." Derek looked over Winry and used his free hand to hold it up in a calming gesture. "Like he said we were invited…"

"I don't care, you need to go, I mean we do. Now." Winry began to fidget and when she heard a thump she turned and found Luda Mae in the doorway wiping her hands on a towel. The older woman raised an eyebrow as she walked in and attempted to put a hand on Winry who jumped away screaming 'no'.

"Don't mind her, she's not used to strangers."

Shaking her head Winry looked back to the others, "No, please you're all in danger you need to leave now!" Her eyes caught on a familiar set of tea cups and she put a hand to her mouth. "Did you drink the tea?" When the three newcomers just glanced at each other Winry threw her hands out and balled them into fists and nearly screamed. "Did you drink the fucking tea?!"

When Winry raised her voice Helen jerked and tried to use a calming tone, "she just brought it in and we haven't had any just yet. Why don't you sit down?" The statement threw Winry into a fit and the calming words didn't help.

Reaching her hands into her hair and pulling Winry wanted to cry, but instead she dropped her hands running past Luda Mae who didn't stop her, stumbling into the hallway she nearly ran into Monty. His words came out in a grumble, "watch it girl." Seeing her panic he realized why and smirked, "the faster you realize there's nothing you can do, the faster you can settle in."

Groaning at him in frustration she ran deeper into the house and into the empty room that held the metal door which was slightly opened. She could hear both Monty and Luda Mae trying to excuse Winry for her rude outburst, but Winry ignored them and walked through the opening and turned to look down the stairs and saw Thomas walking up the steps and in his right hand was a chainsaw.

Her whole body shook and a small noise escaped Winry causing Thomas to look up, his eyes widened in surprise to see her standing at the top of the stairs. Winry had to swallow twice before she could speak, her words came out quiet, "Please don't…Thomas, please." He didn't speak, but as he continued to walk up the steps her head started to shake no. When he reached the top she threw herself in his way and spread her arms and now her whole body shook harder.

They eyed each other for a moment, his left hand came up and he touched her cheek with his fingertips softly causing her to close her eyes for a moment, tears slowly trickled down her cheeks. "Please…" her plea was whispered.

His head tilted to the right, he used the back of his pointer finger to wipe at the tears running down her cheeks. Thomas watched Winry's lip tremble and he brought his hand down, using his thumb he caressed her bottom lip making Winry softly gasp. His thumb pressed harder, but she ripped her head to the side to remove his touch. The quiet moment was broken by the motion and he sighed. I've been sighing a lot lately.

Moving his left hand from her face to her shoulder he pressed her to one side easily and walked around her, before he could shut the metal door and trap her in the basement she slipped through and he was surprised when he felt Winry land on his back. They both grunted from the impact. Her fingers dug into his shoulders for purchase before her arms wrapped around his neck and he dropped the saw, it hit the floor loudly, both of his hands grabbed at her arms. He tried to free himself gently, he didn't want to hurt her, but they were making too much noise.

"What the hell?"

A man's voice made Thomas spin around with Winry still clinging to his neck and back, soon the three newcomers were out in the hall and they were all staring at him and Winry. His mama followed behind them and her eyes were wide as she took in the scene before her.

"RUN!" Winry screamed and used her legs to wrap around Thomas's waist to keep a hold of him. Her arms tightened around his neck as he pulled at her.

Grunting in frustration Thomas finally lifted his right arm and got a good grip of Winry's shirt and pulled hard and when she still didn't let go he jerked harder and twisted, her sharp yelp made Thomas flinch, but he had to do this or he could lose her. They couldn't escape. Pulling her over his right shoulder he dropped her as quickly and gently as he could and then reached for the saw.

Helen loudly whispered 'oh my God' before Thomas ripped on the cord and the chainsaw started up, Thomas revved the chainsaw and then stepped towards the small group. "Oh fuck!" Stan yelled before turning and pushing the other two towards the front door. Luda Mae stepped back as Thomas quickened his steps, but the three were outside before he reached them. Fumbling with the keys, Stan was panting in panic as the other two outran him to the little car.

"Just run!" Derek yelled and grabbed onto Helen's wrist, pulling her away from the car. They ran to the right and took off towards the laundry lines. Stan finally found the right key and put it in the driver's side lock and smiled, as he opened the door the center of his chest ripped open and a chainsaw burst through. Blood sprayed out and drenched the car as Stan's scream turned into a gurgle, blood filled his mouth.

Thomas ripped the saw backward and Stan fell to his knees then face first onto the ground, he watched the man twitch for a moment and then turned to follow the other two. He could just make out the sounds of the woman crying out and complaining as they ran for the woods, he ran after them.

Winry stood slowly after the crash to the ground, Luda Mae tried to pull her into the living room, but Winry shook her off and ran towards the front door, Monty moved his wheelchair in front of her and Winry's feet tripped on one of the wheels making him mutter 'dammit girl'. Monty's hands grabbed at her arms to catch and hold her to him, but she stumbled and caught her footing and slapped his hands off of her. When she broke free Winry sprinted out the door and screamed when she saw the older man Stan dead on the ground, blood sprayed out over the vehicle and ground.

Both hands covered her mouth and muffled the end of the scream, Monty and Luda Mae were exiting the front door prompting Winry to run and jump off the porch. Luda Mae called out, but Winry ignored her. Slowly spinning she heard the sound of the saw's engine and a woman's scream to her right, Winry took off running, shoving through a few sheets and clothing. She got near the end of the clothing lines and noticed a few articles of clothing torn from the pegs and thrown on the ground. Her head ripped up from the mess when she heard the chainsaw rev and a man screamed in pain prompting Winry to start running again.

The sounds of the man screaming grew fainter as Winry got closer, but the woman was screaming hysterically as the saw revved multiple times. The old barn behind the house looked empty so she ran around the left side and watched just as Thomas pulled the chainsaw down, Helen lifted her arms up and the chainsaw cut through her arms, blood sprayed over her and Thomas, her arms fell just as the saw caught the side of her head and snagged at her hair ripping it out in chunks. Her skull caused little resistance before it cracked and the saw sliced through her head and continued it's path down through her face and then neck and shoulder.

Once the saw went through he followed the swing through and swung the saw and his body around and grunted, as he spun around and brought the saw up and shook it, Helen's body dropped down and crumpled at his feet. The loose body parts flopped and rolled till they settled. Winry's eyes widened and she opened her mouth to scream, but nothing came out, her mouth flopped like a fish gasping for air. She watched Thomas spin, groaning, and grunting. Her eyes followed the saw and when it jerked to a stop she kept eyeing it, when the engine died, she watched one of his hands drop and that's when she blinked and her eyes looked up and took in his blood drenched clothes.

Their eyes met and he dropped the saw and stomped toward her, she couldn't move, her body tensed and when she finally took a step back he already had his hands on her upper arms and his fingers dug in.

Finally finding her voice Winry yelled, "YOU FUCKING MONSTER!" Pulling back hard she didn't move, but it didn't stop her from trying, using the grip he had on her arms she kicked up with one leg and balanced with the other. He grunted when the kick hit his outer leg. She kept yelling at him as Thomas lifted Winry up and stormed forward, forcing her backwards until he slammed her back into the wood barn. "FUCK YOU! Let go!" Yelling and squirming got her nowhere with him, Thomas was too strong and rarely paid attention to her when she raised her voice at him.

Ignoring Winry, Thomas lifted her and slid her up the wood till she was eye level with him, when she spat his hair took most of it before he flinched his eyes closed, slowly opening them he watched the fear overtaking the fury on her face. They both were breathing heavy, his glare steady on her while her own eyes lost heat. She watched him and then glanced at his mask when she saw a flash of something, she realized his mask had a slit and she was catching a glimpse of his mouth.

Two weeks she had been with the family and he had never eaten around her or spoken, she thought his mask was one piece, but now she knew it had an opening for his mouth. Looking back up she saw his eyes were on her mouth and her eyes widened just as he leaned down she struggled and began yelling 'no' at him. Winry reached up, but her arms were pinned so she could only reach up to grip his forearms, her fingers slipped on the blood as she tried to keep ahold of him.

Slamming her head back and hitting the wood made Winry wince in pain and close her eyes for a second, when she felt the brush of leather touch her lips her eyes opened wide and then the leather pressed into her skin and she felt the brush of his lips. Winry stared at Thomas, but his eyes were closed, he looked to be absorbed in the kiss. Ripping her head to the side she felt a prick of something on her lips and she looked and saw the mask was opened wider, his skin looked to be darker on the left side of his mouth, it appeared to be ripped. Rough too since it had scrapped her own lips. "Is your face injured?"

Winry didn't know why she asked, out of everything that had happened tonight, his possible injury seemed like the least of her worries. She didn't expect him to answer, but she also hadn't expected him to suddenly let go and drop her. Sliding down the wood and landing lightly on her backside she looked up and saw him ripping at the mask and seemed to be tightening it. The noises he made were panicked and it made her feel bad. He just cut up and killed three people and I feel bad for one comment... Slowly standing she dusted at herself and when she was done the two stood and stared at each other again.

Thomas's eyes were wide and panicked, he kept himself as calm as he could after she had commented on his kiss. His first kiss. He had seen Hoyt and Uncle Monty kiss on girls, they had shown him other things, but he hadn't been able to join them. They would always laugh and try to push him on the women as they cried and screamed, but he always ran and either went to the basement or to his mama's room where she would pet his hair and rub his back while talking softly to him. After he had adjusted the mask he stared at Winry where he had left her. As she stood he kept staring and when she grabbed at her other arm and looked unsure of herself he turned and walked back to the chainsaw. Leaning down and grabbing it he looked back and surprisingly found her standing in the same spot. She hadn't run.

Winry watched him walk towards her with the chainsaw and she took a step back, but was stopped when Thomas lunged forward and grabbed her left wrist, he squeezed and just as she was beginning to wince he loosened his grip. "I'm sorry." He glanced up to her face and then turned toward the house pulling Winry behind him. "No! After this no, I'm done." As he turned towards her she ripped on her arm to try and loosen it from his grasp. "I can't do this anymore! You're a bunch of killers and cannibals!" Now that he was facing her she looked down and saw his grip tighten on the saw's handle. Her throat was beginning to hurt from the yelling and screaming tonight.

When Thomas released her wrist she looked up in surprise only to be met with Thomas's shoulder as he leaned down and smacked it into her stomach, he lifted her and used his free arm to grab at her thighs to keep her in place as he walked back to the house. She beat on his back a few times before she stopped and gave up, going limp she gripped at his shirt and pulled. "I can't do this anymore…" her tone was defeated and sad.

Tonight had been a shit night.

Author's Notes: I time skipped a bit, I hope Winry doesn't seem to chill about the other killings in the two weeks, more she just wasn't there to do anything about it. The deaths had already happened by the time the bodies got home. This is the first time she's been able to try and stop it. Hope you all like it, enjoy!
