3 months later.
The Tardis begins to materialise, and the vwarping noise the Tardis makes fills the air.
Rose steps out and turns to the Doctor
"How long have I been gone"
"About 12 hours" the Doctor states with a big grin on his face. Both the Doctor and rose laugh.
"Oooh! Right, I won't be long, I'm just gonna see my mum and Abby"
"What are you gonna tell your mum"
"I don't know! I've been to the year 5 billion... and only been gone, what, 12 hours? Abby had probably already made a story up for me. See you later" Rose begins to run off towards then turns to the Doctor.
"Ohh don't you disappear"
The Doctor looks at Rose as if to say as I would. Rose chuckles and then continues to run towards her flat.
Rose walks into her flat and shuts the door behind her.
"Mum! Abby! I'm back It was Shareen. She was all upset again. Are you in? then we bumped into a mate from work and he..."
Rose walks towards the kitchen as Jackie begins to walk out with a cup of tea in her hand.
"So, what's been going on? How've you been? wheres Abby?"
Jackie is looking at rose as if she had seen a ghost.
"What? What's that face for? It's not the first time I've stayed out all night."
Jackie's tea drops on the floor and smashes everywhere. Leaving bits of china everywhere.
"It's you"
"Of course it's me. Where Abby's mum"
Tears are now streaming down Jackies face as she proceeds to throw her arms around Tose
"Oh, my God. It's you. Oh my God. Oh my god what have I done"
At this moment the front door of the flat burst of the Doctor runs through holding a poster.
"It's not 12 hours, it's er... 12 months. You've been gone a whole year. Sorry"
Jackie and Rose look at the Doctor stunned unsure of what today or do.
Finally, Jackie calms down and says for them all to sit down in the living room as she has got to make a phone call.
1 hour later
Jackie was pacing around their small living room furious with the situation.
"The hours I've sat here. Days and weeks and months all on my own. I thought you were dead. And where were you? Travelling. What the hell does that mean? Travelling? That's no sort of answer."
"Mum, you were not on your own you had Abby she told you what was happening, anyway where is she. I've texted her to say I'm home." Rose answered confused as to where his sister was. It was a Friday she was normally home now.
"You ask her. She won't tell me! That's all she says. Travelling" Jackie stated turning to the police officer.
"That's what I was doing mum"
"When your passport's still in the drawer? It's just one lie after another!"
The front door burst open and Abby came running in, spotted her sister on the sofa and grabbed her into a massive hug.
"Oo thank god" Abigail whispers.
"Where the hell were you!" she whispers angrily to her sister.
With this the Doctor interrupts.
"Actually, it's my fault. I sort of er employed Rose as my companion"
"I meant to phone, I really did, I just... I forgot"
"What, for a year? You forgot for a year? And I am left sitting here? I just don't believe you. Why won't you tell me where you've been?" Jackie answered back.
"When you say "companion", is this a sеxual relationship?" the police officer interrupted the conversation
Rose and the Doctor looked at each other and had a little giggle.
"NO!" they both answered simultaneously.
Abigail turned to Doctors and walked towards him as they both stood in the corner of the room allowing the coversation between the remaining 3 to continue.
"Hello Doctor," Abigail said with a slight smile on her.
"Abby! hows it been"
"Ahh ya know same old same old," she said with a little chuckle watching the other 3 in deep conversation and how frustrated her mother was getting a rose was not answering her questions the way she was hoping.
"Something tells me there's more to it than that, noticed your room is empty. What happened"
An ache reached Abbys chest as she relived the conversation her mum and she had for the last couple of months and how their relationship just fell apart. The Doctor notice this and a sad sympathetic look crossed his face. Abby tried to hide it the best she could with a smile on her face as she took a deep breath.
"Grew up, I suppose. Needed to move out. Things got complicated here. So got a job, moved in with Mickey for about 2 weeks then got my own place. To be honest you haven't been in the flat for about 2 months now and not spoken to mum for about 3 months"
With this Jackie Tyler interrupted their conversation as she walked towards the Doctor, you could see the hate rolling off her.
"Then what is it? Because you, you waltz in here all charms and smiles, and the next thing I know, she vanishes off the face of the earth! How old are you then? 40? 45? What, you do, pretend you're a doctor?"
"What I am a doctor" the Doctor states.
"Prove it! Stitch this, mate" Jackie Tyler lifts her arm and slaps the Doctor right across the face and it leaves a bright red mark.
With this Rose grabs her mum and pulls her into the kitchen to finish their conversation whilst silently apologising to the Doctor.
Abby grabs the Doctors arm and leads him to the sofa to sit down. Not too long after the police officer had finished writing down his notes and began to leave.
"Tell your mum ill write the report and then close the case. Sorry to have bothered you so much Abby, tell Mickey the same too"
You could tell Abby became uncomfortable by the way she was shifting in her seat
"Umm yeah.. ill umm. Tell mum and pass on the apology to Mickey. thanks, Tim! Bye"
"Oo Tim ey!."
"Oo shut up you." Abby hit the Doctors arm playfully.
"A lot has gone on and Tim was the only one who spoke to me and Mickey decently after everything"
"What you mean"
"Well.. mum didn't believe me, kept saying I was lying and not telling the truth. To some extent I was but I got to the point she was accusing me and Mickey of umm... umm."
"Of what"
"Hurting Rose and trying to hide it. I told her for months I would never do that, Mickey would never do that as he loved her but she just would t believe it and months and months went past with still no contact from Rose. In the end, I couldn't take it no more so I left." Abby said with a big sigh.
"I'm sorry it's my fault, she was supposed to only been gone 12 hours"
"Think you got that one a bit wrong," Abby said jokingly as she hit the doctor softly on the arm.
"Hows is the face"
"Bit sore, your mums got one hell of a slap"
"Yep her slaps are famous around here"
Abby reached up the touch the red mark and move the doctor's face so she could have a better look. With that, a shooting pain went striaght up her arm the moment their skin touched and Abby immediately pulled away.
"Let me get you a wet cloth for that" Abby said as she got up and walked away. The Doctor quickly grabbed her arm as if to stop her from walking away.
Once again the shooting pain returned and the Doctor quickly removed his hand whilst looking apologetic at Abby and quietly whispered a thank-you.
