Abby entered the kitchen, whilst rose jackie were finishing off their coversation.
"Do you know what terrifies me, is that you still can't say. What happened to you, Rose? What could be so bad that you can't tell me, sweetheart? Where were you?"
"Mum can we leave it please? anyway whats happened with Abby, things seem off"
"Nothings the matter with me, just got my own place so i moved out." Abby interjected.
Abby walks to the sink, pulls out a cloth and begins to soak it in cold water for the Doctor.
"Im just gonna go talk to him, ill meet you outside in 5" Rose said as she walked towards the front door ushering the Doctor to follow her.
"Okay ill be right with you, just going to grab a cuppa" Abby answered.
The front door of the flat closed behind them and an awkward tension filed the air around Jackie and Abby.
"Abby.. "
"Not now mum okay. Alot has happened today and I just want to get through the day in as much peace as possible"
"I know, Iknow but im sorry, I should have know..."
Abby could feel her frustration and anger building, she tried her best to hold back but it just slipped through.
"Ieah, ya know you should have know I would never do anything to hurt her. She my sister for blooming sake. Your my mother your supposed to know me inside and out. You know id never hurt anyone let alone my family..."
"Abby I know im sorry..."
"I know you are mum, i know. Can we just leave it please. My head is pounding do you have any painkillers."
Abby states as she places both hands in front of her on the counter top whilst looking out their kitchen window.
"Top drawer on the right"
"Thanks, im just gonna.." as Abby pointed towards the door she knew Jackie understood what she meant.
"Yeah go on sweetheart"
Abby walked out the front door and closed it quickly behind her as she did she took a second and took a deep breath whilst a tear quickly escaped her eyes and made its way down her cheek before she quickly wiped it away and proceeded to the rooftop.
As Abby reaches the rooftop she could see Rose sitting on a wall and the Doctor is leaning against it by her side. The seemed deep in coversation.
She walked towards them and plonked her self down next to rose on the wall. She pulled Rose into a one arm hug and pulled her into her side.
"God I missed you, been boring without you. "
"I missed you too, im soo sorry for being gone so long, it was honestly..."
"I know I know the Doctor explained. You need to phone Mickey hes missed you too, been like a lost puppy without you." Abby said with a slight chuckle.
Abby turned to the Doctor and passed him the cold cloth she held in her hand.
"Anyway, hows the face doc?" Abby said looking at the red mark that was still prominent on the Doctors face
"She slapped you!" Rose said with a laugh.
"900 years of time and space, and I've never been slapped by someone's mother. it hurt"
"When you say 900 years." Abigail asked
"That's my age"
"You're nine hundred years old."
"I thought you two would of had this coversation by now, the usual sentace starter for strangers isnt it. You know, How old are you, Where you from that sort of thing"
"Too busy saving the world, mum was right. That is one hell of an age gap. Every conversation with him just goes mental. There's no one else but you two I can talk to. I've seen all that stuff up there, the size of it, and I can't say a word. Aliens and spaceships and things, and I'm the only person on planet earth who knows they exist." Rose states as she jump of the wall she was sitting on.
"Sooo tell me about your adventures, what did you see..."
As Abigail starts to quiz Rose abut her recent adventured with the Doctor spacecraft narrowly misses their heads as it falls from the sky and heads for for Central London. It smashes into Big Ben, then lands with a splash in the Thames.
Abigail, Rose and the Doctor all just stare at each with smiles on their faces.
"Oh, that's just not fair." Rose states as the Doctors grabs her hands and she reaches to grab Abby. The all run off towards the direction the space craft went.
As the all run towards the action the come to a blocked of street just a couple of blocks from their flat.
"It's blocked off" Abigails says with a sigh of disappointment
"We're miles from the centre. The scene must be grid locked. The whole of London must be closing down."
"I know, I can't BELIEVE I'm here to see this! This is fantastic!" the Doctor say enthusiastically
"Did you know this was going to happen?" Abby asks
"Nope!"
"Do you recognize the ship?" Rose intervenes
"Nope!"
"Do you know why it crashed?" Abby questions
"Nope!"
"Oh, I'm so glad I've got you." Rose says with a slight chuckle
"I bet you are! This is what I travel for. To see history happening right in front of us."
"Well, let's go and see it! Never mind the traffic, we've got the TARDIS!"
"Better not. They've already got one spaceship in the middle of London, don't want to shove another one on top."
"Yeah, but yours looks like a big blue box. No one's going to notice."
"You'll be surprised, an emergency like this, there'll be all kinds of people watching. Trust me, the TARDIS stays where it is.
Rose looks distinctly disgruntled.
"So, history's happening and we're stuck here."
"Yes, we are." the Doctor said with a smile on his face. Abby turned to them both and says
"We could always do what everybody else does. We could watch it on TV."
They all take one last looks at the barracade going acroos the street then turn and make their way back to Jackies flat.
As soon as they arrive the 3 dash into the living room, Rose grabs the remote from her mum and puts the news on.
"Hang on, i was watching that" Jackie says frustrated.
"Mum a spaceship just flew over our head and you worried about whos the father of Staceys baby... no its the news."
They watch intently as to what happenign as the reporter explains the situation
"The police urge the public not to panic. There's a help line number on screen right now if you're worried about friends or family."
"Rose pass me the remote" Abby asks her sister, as Rose reaches for the remote and passes it over.
Abby flips through multi new channels all reporting the same. As time goes on more people arrived at the flat to chat about the recent events, Jackie goes into the kitchen to make everyone a cup of tea.
"Unconfirmed reports say that the body is of extra-terrestrial origin. An extraordinary event unfolding here live here in Central London. The body is being transferred to a secure unit mortuary. The whereabouts is yet unknown."
The TV changes channels a few times and comes to rest on Blue Peter.The Doctor tries to wrestle the TV remote off a toddler on his lap.
Abby sits and watches the Doctor and cannot help but laugh at the interaction between the two.
"Need a hand there Doc"
The Doctor just looks at her with a slight smile on his face and he chnaged the channel back to the news.
"We still don't know whether it's alive or dead. Whitehall is denying everything. But the body has been brought here, Albian Hospital, the roads closed off - it's the closest to the river."
A couple of hours have passed and there has been no further update regarding the body that was recovered from the spaceship. The Doctors continue to flop between channels as rose is in her room finaly calling Mickey back. Abby leans back into her chair, with this she coud hear her mother and her friend marianna talking.
"So whats the story there. How come shes back" Abby coud see through the slight gap in the door, her mums friend pointed towards the room where she sat.
"Oo you know the usual."
"Well you have more patience than me with that one. Its a blessing thay rose is back safe and sound."
Abby couldnt listen to anymore she quickly stood up and walked quickly towards the from door, she needed some air.
The Doctor noticed the strange behaviour of Abby and quickly follow behind.
"Whats up with you" The Doctor asked as he walked to the side of Abigail who was leaning on the railing by their front door. Abby was startled by the Doctors presence.
"Oo you know. Just needed some air. Bit too stuffy in there now, used to my own space. What about you"
"Same a bit too human in there for me plus, You seemed upset."
"Hmm. Same old same old. Just fed up of feeling like people are watching my back."
"Your mum?"
"Actually not so much, her mate now thats a different answer"
With this Rose walks through the front door looking at the two.
"And where do you think you're going?" she says looking at the Doctor.
"Nowhere! It's just a bit human in there for me. History just happened and they're talking about where you can buy dodgy top up cards for half price. I'm off on a wander, that's all."
Abby coughs then quietly whispers in the Doctors direction with a little grin on her face "Liar"
The Doctor looks at her quickly with a grin on his face before looking back at Rose.
"Right. There's a spaceship on the Thames and you're just "wandering". " Rose states
"Nothing to do with me! It's not an invasion! That was a genuine crash landing. Angle of descent, colour of smoke, everything! It's perfect!"
"So... "
"So maybe this is it! First contact! The day mankind officially comes into contact with an alien race. I'm not interfering because you've GOT to handle this on your own. That's when the human race finally grows up. Just this morning you were all tiny and small and made of clay! Now you can expand!"
He laughs in delight. Rose smiles.
"You don't need me. Go and celebrate history. Spend some time with your mum and sister."
The Doctor turns to walk away
"Promise you won't disappear?" Rose asks
The Doctor stops and turns around again. He feels his jacket pockets.
"Tell you what, TARDIS key. About time you had one. See you later!"
He throws the key to Rose.
"Bloody hell, known you all of two minutes and already asking you to move in, mum will be delighted" Abby says in fits of laughter.
The Doctors continues to walk away but briefly turns around and shouts.
"Play your cards right and you can have one too"
Abby blushes as she winks at the Doctor, with this a smile could be seen on his face as he turns around and continues to walk away.
"Come on let go is freezing out here."
They both go into the living room and collapse back on the sofa. Continuing to watch the news for any update on the spaceship and the body they found.
Not even 20 minutes later Jackie poured everyone a glass of wine and raised the glass to celebrate the Martians. With this Mickey bursts through the door.
"I was gonna come and see you in a bit," Rose says
At this moment their mum's friend decided to enter the conversation whilst looking at Jackie.
"Think someone owes Mickey an apology"
Without looking at who their mum's friend was looking Rose stood up in front of Mickey and says she was sorry.
"Not you." her mum's friends say and Look again at Jackie.
"It's not my fault. Be fair. What was I supposed to think?"
"You're supposed to believe your other daughter us what you were supposed to do, but let's leave it at that shall we?" Abby states.
"You disappear, who do they turn to? Your boyfriend, oo and your sisters are co-conspirators. Five times, we were taken in for questioning. Five times. No evidence, of course, there couldn't be, could there. And then we get here, your mother. Whispering around the estate, pointing the finger, stuff through my letterbox, and all 'cos of you.
"Ohh come on we have already been through this, I didn't think I'd be gone so long".
"And I wait for you, Rose! Twelve months. Waiting for you and the Doctor to come back."
"Hold on, you knew about the Doctor? Why didn't you tell me?" Jackie interrupts
"Hang on, hang on. Did you say Abby too" Rose asks Mickey?
"Yeah why do u think she moved"
"Can we leave this now please" Abby begs Mickey and Rose.
"2 seconds. Mum, you thought Abby hurt me, that she did something. You treated her soo bad she moved out..."
"Rose please, leave it. It's enough that the past is in the past. It's done. Dealt with. Finito. Please just stop"
Abby stands up with tears in her eyes, she wipes them away quickly and walks to the kitchen to take a breather. Rose follows behind.
"I'm soo sorry abs, I'm so sorry"
"Rose I meant what I said can we just leave it. Now, please. It's all dealt with."
"Ohh okay only if you're sure."
"I'm sure"
