2 weeks passed since Abby jackie and Mickey last saw the Doctor and Rose.

Abby has aready worked her notice at work. She now spent most of her time with Mickey doing research about the doctor and any strange activity that may be going on, but it was all quiet.

It was family night at Jackies and they were all there sat down eating Jackies sheppards pie and chips. One of the only things Jackie knows how to cook.

As they started to clear up and wash the dishes an all to fimiliar noise filled the living room.

Stood in the middle of their small living room was the Doctors big blue box.

They were back.

Suddenly Rose burst out of the doors and runs straight to Jackie wrapping her arms around her as tight as she could.

The Doctor walks out slowly behind. Once the Tardis doors close he leans against them.

"Whats wrong , what happened" Jackie asks concerned.

"Just been a long day and i missed you" Rose say.

"Uou sure?" Abby asks from the door frame that leads to the passage.

"Yeah its just a flying visit, just needed to see mum"

"You want a cuppa love"

"No mum we are not stopping just needed to see you".

"Im here love. not going anywhere"

As Rose and Jackie finish of their conversation and Jackie pursuades Rose to have a cuppa the Doctor walks and stand next to Abby.

"Soo... what happened" Abby asks

"We met your dad"

"oh... oh my gosh. what happened. "

"It was the day he died"

"No wonder shes like this, she always wanted to meet him, fate obviously had other plans but atleast she had this"

"She held his hand as he passed, strange though you werent there, baby Rose was but you.. nowhere to be seen"

"Mum always told us a story or a stranger, blonde hair holding his hand as he died. never in a million year would we have thought... Rose.. umm mum said i was ill left with an auntie" Abby says with tear in her eyes.

"You okay?" he says nudging Abbys arm.

"Yeah, im fine.. anyway the offer to join you both still available."

"Ooh i dont know" the Doctor says jokingly

"You git"

"Of course"

"Ill grab my things"

Abby runs of to her room to grab her duffel back as she returns the Doctor is stood by the Tardis again.

"Rose you ready"

"Yeah, on my way" Rose hugs her mum quicky before running back to the Tardis.

Abby walks to her mum and Mickey.

"soo im off finally"

"Be careful sweetheart"

"Always mum"

"Dont go bringing no alien boy toys home."

"Ooo shut it Micks, ill see you on our next visit yeah"

Shes hugs them both tightly before turning towards the Tardis, she takes a moment, takes a deep breath and walks toward the blue box and opens the door.

She walks towards the console running her arms along the coral. the hum felt beneath her hand. Abby could feel the excitement bubbling in her stomach.

"Welcome aboard" Rose says to Abby.

"Where we off" Rose turns to the Doctor.

"Can I just have one request before we do anything." Abby asks.

"Sure"

Moments later Abby stands at the doors of the Tardis door open wide and in front of her the deep blue/black space, stars, planets and constellations what seem like they are at her finger tips innfront of her. she stares in awe of it.

"Beautiful right" Rose shout to Abby from by the console, the Doctor just standing a looking in Abbys direction smiling.

"It sure is." Abby takes another look before closing the door.

"Sooo where to now"

"Hang on, what, what" the Doctor continues. they feel the Tardis begin to move.

"What's the emergency?" Rose asks

"It's mauve." the Doctor answers

"Mauve?" Abby asks confused

The Doctor rushes around the console, as the TARDIS shudders and shakes.

"The universally recognised colour for danger."

"What happened to red?" Abby asks

"That's just humans. By everyone else's standards, red's camp. Oh, the misunderstandings. All those red alerts, all that dancing. It's got a very basic flight computer. I've hacked in, slaved the Tardis. Where it goes, we go."

"And that's safe, is it?" Rose asks

"Totally."

Part of the console explodes

"Okay, reasonably. Should have said reasonably there. No, no, no, no! It's jumping time tracks, getting away from us." the Doctor continues

"What exactly is this thing?"Abby asks pointing to the capsule on the computer screen

"No idea." the Doctors responds

"Then why are we chasing it?" rose asks

"It's mauve and dangerous, and about thirty seconds from the centre of London."

The object hurtles towards Earth, with the TARDIS in hot pursuit.

The TARDIS materializes behind some bleak looking houses in London. Rose exits, followed by the Doctor and Abby.

"Must have come down somewhere quite close. Within a mile, anyway. And it can't have been more than a few weeks ago. Maybe a month. "

" A month?!" says Rose

" We were right behind it!" Abby jumps in

"it was jumping time tracks all over the place, we're bound to be a little bit out. Do you wanna drive?"

"Yeah... how much is "a little"?" Rose asks

" A bit."

"What's the plan, then? Are you gonna do a scan for alien tech or something?"

"Rose, it hit the middle of London with a very loud bang. I'm gonna ask."

He shows them his psychic paper.

"Doctor John Smith, Ministry of Astroids."Abby says

"Psychic Paper, tells you whatever you want it to tell me,"

" Not very Spock, is it? Just aasking"abby says jokingly

Both are watching the Doctor trying to get through a door.

"Door, music, people. What d'you think?"

" I think you should do a scan for alien tech."

"Look at sounds sounding like an expert traveller haha "Abby jokes with Rose.

The Doctor holds his sonic screwdriver to the door.

"Gimme some Spock! For once, would it kill ya?"

"Are you sure about that t-shirt?"

Rose is wearing a garish Union Jack t-shirt. Rose looks down at it.

"Too early to say. I'm taking it out for a spin. What about Abby she wearing a polka dot dress."

"Hey whats wrong with my outfit"

"You look like Mr Blooby " Rose jokes.

"Mr Blooby was pink and yellow spots im red and white spots thank you"

The Doctor continues trying to open the lock with his sonic screwdriver.

Rose turns around as she hears an eerie voice. Rose looks around for the source of the voice

"Muuuu-mmy?" a distant voice could be hearsld

The Doctor cracks the lock.

"Come on if you're coming. Won't take a minute."

Abby walks through the door. The Doctor follows behind.

Unknown to then Rose did no follow she went after the voice instead.

The Doctor and Abby finds themselves in a crowded drinking den, full of smoke and chatter and a singer.

"For nobody else gave me the thrill, when I have found I love you still, it had to be you, wonderful you... " the woman in stage sings.

She finishes the song. The audience applaud. The Doctor joins the applause as he approaches the stage. Abby stand on the side line, trting to figure out where Rose hs gone

"Excuse me! Excuse me!. Could I have everybody's attention just for a mo? Be very quick, eh... hello!. Eh... might seem like a stupid question, but has anything fallen from the sky recently?"

Complete silence. The Doctor looks around expectantly. Then, the audience starts to laugh. The Doctor stares around at them all, confusedly and looks at Abby who just shrugs her shoulders.

The Doctor and Abby are still looking around at them all.

"Sorry, have I said something funny?"

The audience laughs still some more

"It's just, there's this thing I need to find, would've fallen from the sky a couple of days ago."

A siren sounds. Immediately, the people start to evacuate the room.

"Would've landed quite near here..."

The Doctor looks up at the ceiling, in the direction from which the sirens seem to be coming.

"With a very loud..."

Through the crowds of people all clamouring to leave the building, the Doctor notices a poster tacked to the wall, bearing the legend "Hitler will send no warning".

" Bang... "

He closes his eyes in despair.

"Doctor whats going on and wheres Rose"

The Doctor and Abby emerges from the drinking den.

"Rose!"

"Rose!"

They round a corner to where the TARDIS is parked. A cat is sitting on top a dustbin. The Doctor turns around and see abigail stroking the cat and whispering wheres Rose. The doctor picks it up.

"You know... one day. Just one day, maybe... I'm gonna meet someone who gets the whole 'don't wander off' thing."

"Hey still here ya know"

He shakes his head and chuckles. Behind him, the TARDIS phone starts to ring. Brow furrowed, the Doctor puts the cat down, walks over to the TARDIS and opens the compartment behind which the phone is hidden. He stares at it

"How can you be ringing? What's that about? Ringing? . What am I supposed to do with a ringing phone?"

"Well answer it dumbo"

A girl, Nancy, has silently come up behind them.

'Don't answer it. It's not for you.'

"Holy crap you startled me!" Abby says in surpise

The Doctor turns towards her questioningly.

'And how do you know that?'

'Cos I do. And I'm tellin' ya, don't answer it."

"Well, if you know so much, tell me this, how can it be ringing?. It's not even a real phone. It's not connected, it's not..."

The Doctor turns to the phone and when he turns back and Nancy has disappeared. Abby looks around unsure of where nancy has disappeared to. The Doctor pauses, confused, and then looks back at the phone. He hesitantly picks it up and holds it to his ear.

"Hello?. This is the Doctor speaking. How may I help you?"

"Mummy?" a child's voice asks

The Doctor's sceptical grin fades from his face.

"Mummy?"

"Who is this? Who's speaking?" The Doctor asks

"Are you my mummy?"

"Who is this?"

"Mummy?"

"How did you RING here? This isn't a real phone, it's not wired up to anything, it's..."

"Mummy?"

The line goes dead. The Doctor slowly replaces this phone in its cradle. He pokes his head inside the TARDIS.

"Rose? Rose, are you in there?"

"Doctor what's happening, who was on the phone and wheres Rose?"

There is a crashing sound from behind them. Closing the phone compartment, the Doctor runs to follow the sound. He hurries out of the alleyway, and into a street, and Abby follows quickly behind.

The Doctor runs quickly around the corner too quick for Abby to see where he went. Abby begins to run further down the street.

"DOCTOR! DOCTOR!"

Meanwhile. Following the sound of the voices, the Doctor stands on top of a dustbin to look over a garden wall. A fat woman is ushering a small boy into a shelter.

Once they are inside, the door closed, Nancy creeps out from behind the shelter and into the back door of the house, unaware that she is being watched by the Doctor.

Some more children run down the road into the house where Nancy is serving dinner. They are watched by the masked child. One boy kneels to tie his shoelace. The child takes a few steps forward, just as the boy finishes tying his shoelace and runs inside the house. The masked child advances toward the door.

Abby is starting to get frustrated and decides to turn back the way she comes to find the Doctor.

There are now several children gathered around the table, waiting for their meal. Nancy cuts the meat whilst the children chat between themselves.

"It's got to be a black market. He couldn't get all this on coupons."

"Ernie, how many times? We are guests in this house. We will not make comments of that kind. Washing up."

The other children laugh at Ernie.

"Oh, Nancy!"

Nancy looks at one of the boys sitting around the table.

"Haven't seen you at one of these before."

"He told me about it."

"Sleeping rough?"

"Yes, miss."

"All right then. One slice each, and I want to see everyone chewing properly."

"Thank ya, miss!"

"Thanks, miss!"

"Thank you, miss."

"Thanks, miss!"

Gasping in surprise, the children jump backwards. surprised to see the Doctor sat at the table with them

"It's all right! Everybody stay where you are!"

Jim stares at the Doctor in shock, a piece of meat hanging out of his mouth.

"Good here, innit? Who's got the salt?"

"Back in your seats! He shouldn't be here either. was your friend, the girl"

"Oh um somewhere she won't be far"

The Doctor smiles and helps himself to some sauce.

"So, you lot... what's the story?"

"What d'you mean?"

"You're homeless, right? Living rough?"

"Why d'you wanna know that? Are you a copper?"

" Of course, I'm not a copper. What's a copper gonna do with you lot anyway? Arrest you for starving?"

The children laugh, and the ice is broken.

"I make it 1941, you lot shouldn't be in London. You should've been evacuated to the country by now."

"I was evacuated. They sent me to a farm" Alf says to one of the little boys

"So why'd you come back?"

"There was a man there..."

"Yeah, same with Ernie. Two homes ago."

"Shut up. It's better on the streets anyway. Better food."

"Yeah. Nancy always gets the best food for us."

The Doctor smiles at Nancy.

"So, that's what you do is it, Nancy?"

"What is?"

"As soon as the sirens go, you find a big fat family meal, still warm on the table with everyone down in the air raid shelter and, bingo! Feeding frenzy for the homeless kids of London Town. Puddings for all! As long as the bombs don't get you."

"Something wrong with that?"

"Wrong with it? It's BRILLIANT. I'm not sure if it's Marxism in action or a West End musical."

The children look confused.

"Why'd you follow me? What d'you want?"

"I want to know how a phone that isn't a phone gets a phone call. You seem to be the one to ask."

"I did you a favour. I told you not to answer it, that's all I'm telling ya."

"Great, thanks. And I wanna find a blonde in a Union Jack. I mean a specific one, I didn't just wake up this morning with a craving. Oo and her sister, seem to have missed placed her too, brown hair brown eyes wearing a polka dot dress"

The children laugh. Nancy, however, does not look impressed. She stands up.

"Anybody seen a girl like that?"

Nancy takes his plate away

" What've I done wrong?"

"You took two slices."

The children laugh at him.

"No blondes or brunettes, no flags or polka dot dresses. Anything else before you leave?"

"Yeah, there is actually. Thanks for asking. Something I've been looking for, would've fallen from the sky about a month ago, but not a bomb. Not the usual kind anyway. Wouldn't have exploded. Would've just buried itself in the ground somewhere, and it would've looked something like"

He shows them a scribbled drawing. Nancy looks at it intently but says nothing. There is a knock on the window. The children gasp.

"Mummy? Are you in there, mummy?"

The Doctor goes to the window and pulls the curtain aside. The child with the gas mask on his face is standing there, knocking.

"Mummy?"

"Who was the last one in?"

" Him".

"Nah, he came round the back. Who came in the front?"

"Me."

"Did you close the door? "

"I... "

"Did you close the door?"

"Mummy? Mummy?"

His shadow looms outside the front door.

"Muuuuum-my?"

Abby is running towards the road where she finds an ally way she decided to run up but it just seem to lead her to the front of the houses she was just looking behind

.

"DOCTOR!"
