So, things that I'm doing that I've never done before: a gift fic, publishing a oneshot, and publishing a full-on sex scene.

This is for katakatsuki over on AO3. I went looking for some smut to read, and came across their work Drinks Between Friends which was inspired by a picture set from Tumblr user rzklh, which is a few Boruto-era NaruSasu drawings captioned with "what if we got piss drunk & cheated on our respective wives with each other".

Before we get further into this, you should know that I don't read/watch Boruto (I am considering it) and honestly lost interest in the whole Naruto plot after Itachi passed. But NaruSasu / SasuNaru will always be close to my heart, and I honestly could care less that they got married and had kids. So, I'll be taking a lot of liberties with how the world looks at this time, as I simply don't know much about it. Sasuke's missing an arm, I guess? Boruto's a little shit. Sasuke doesn't live in the village.

"Hey Siri, did Sasuke and Sakura really get married?" "Yes." ":|"

"Hey Siri, which arm is Sasuke missing again?" "His left." "Oh, I can work with that."

Perspective

Perspective. Noun. /pəˈspek.tɪv/. A particular way of considering something.

To get perspective. To think about a situation or problem in a wise and reasonable way.

Naruto blinked, papers lowering slowly as he brought his eyes up to his old teammate. "Excuse me?"

"I said," Sasuke stood in the center of his office, a day early, worn travel coat dusty and trailing against the floor. "You've been avoiding me."

Naruto winced. He tried to smooth it over, closing his eyes and drawing a deep breath before raking his hand down his face and letting out an exhausted sigh. Shikamaru wasn't fooled, and he doubted Sasuke was either, even when Naruto looked back to the Uchiha, and his eyes were tired.

"That's not true."

"Yes, it is."

As rigid and cool as ever. Sasuke stood less stiffly than he used to, more comfortable with his place in the world than he had been when they were younger, but there would always be telltale signs of his noble upbringing and his subsequent lone wolf attitude. Shikamaru had to hand it to the man, though. He had hit the nail on the head, and it hadn't taken him that many more interactions since Shikamaru himself had noticed it. Naruto was avoiding him.

It had taken far, far longer than Shikamaru had thought it would to get the blonde to admit to it, though, and even longer to get him to tell him why. He understood Naruto's predicament and could guess almost exactly what was running through Naruto's mind at that moment. Shikamaru had silently commended Naruto on how he had conducted himself, despite the secrets that burdened his heart, so as he watched Sasuke challenge Naruto like this, he did so with barely contained panic. Naruto didn't need this right now.

"Sasuke," Naruto sighed.

It was still early in the grand scheme of things, but it was past the time Naruto was meant to have left the office. The sun was beginning to set, earlier and earlier now that winter had taken up shop, and cold winds were rumbling through the city. It was about time for people with families to be sitting down and eating their evening meal.

And yet, here they were.

Sasuke, too, was early. He was on time, he usually hit up the office at about this hour, maybe in an attempt to catch Naruto at the end of his working day. But he'd been expected to return the following day. The only reason Naruto was even in the office right now was to get a head start on his work for the next day. So he could leave early the next day. So he could miss Sasuke entirely. Of course, Shikamaru was only guessing.

The silence weighed heavily, as Naruto didn't have any follow up. No argument, no rebuttal.

"Let's go get a drink." Sasuke finally offered, watching Naruto carefully.

"That-" Naruto smiled, peeling his eyes away from his desk and standing up. "That's a great idea! Shikamaru, tell the guys-"

"No." Sasuke interrupted, stifling his annoyance. "Not with Shikamaru, or the 'guys'. Just you and me."

Naruto hesitated, smile slipping. "I- well,"

Sasuke nodded, turning around. He didn't know what he'd expected. No, that was a lie. He had expected Naruto to laugh and say 'sure, let's go!'. He had expected Naruto to smirk at him and say 'What, ya that desperate to spend time with me? I'm touched.'. He had expected Naruto to throw something at him and growl 'Being Hokage isn't a walk in the park, you dick, cut me some slack!'. He thought… He had hoped that it was all in his head. That's what he'd tried to tell himself, at least, as he kept pulling the facts together. He had expected Naruto to set things straight. He hadn't expected to have his suspicions confirmed.

After all they'd been through together, Naruto was avoiding him.

This? This hurt.

Sasuke knew Naruto was busy, he knew the blonde had things to do, people to worry about, a family, the village, his friends, the council, all breathing down his neck about this and that. He'd only been able to make his own excuses for the blonde's behavior for so long. Hell, it had taken him a while to even acknowledge his own distinction, to realize that it wasn't that Naruto didn't have any free time, but that Naruto didn't want to spend any of his time with him.

Naruto would go to drinks. Happily. Naruto would happily go to drinks with all of them. But, Naruto would not go to drinks with Sasuke. Behind him now, he heard Naruto swear colorfully.

"Sasuke, wait a minute, alright, it's not like that."

He did. He stopped, and he waited. He waited for Naruto to save the day like he always did. He waited for Naruto's big explanation, which would perfectly explain his odd behavior, setting everything right. He waited for Naruto to reestablish the status quo between them, because Sasuke couldn't handle the feelings that had begun to roil inside him.

But Naruto didn't say anything.

Shikamaru watched the blonde over Sasuke's shoulder, saw him ball up his fists, warring with himself. It wasn't fair, Sasuke didn't understand what he was doing. He was going to press too hard and break the blonde, then take off without a care for the scattered pieces he would leave behind. Sasuke didn't care enough to pick a fight like this. He stepped forward. "Sasuke, the Hokage's been pretty busy recently, and he's already running late for dinner with his family. He's trying, but you can't expect him to-"

Sasuke glared at him. The Uchiha didn't scare him, but there was a… particular fury in those eyes this time that was enough to give Shikamaru pause. For the first time, he found himself wondering if Sasuke actually did care about Naruto. Surely not… right?

"You going to let your lackey speak for you?" Sasuke snapped over his shoulder.

"He's not wrong." There was a chill in Naruto's voice that neither of them was prepared for, and they turned to him as he started closing the manila files before him and brusquely wrapping up any open scrolls. "We aren't kids anymore Sasuke, and we can't just run around doing whatever we want, whenever we want." He stacked the items, clearing his desk for the evening, voice hard and eyes locked on his work. "I have to get home to my wife and children, then read through yet more reports, try to get some sleep, and come back in tomorrow to do it all again." Shikamaru winced at Naruto's tone. "So how about, instead of crying about how I don't have time to have a drink with you anymore, you wake up and realize that I barely have any time for myself." He finished with the desk, scooping up his cloak and draping it over his shoulders in one swift, practiced movement. He stalked up to Sasuke, who resisted taking a step back, feeling the barely veiled anger of his friend wash over him. It wasn't often that Naruto let such coldness into his eyes, or a sneer to mar his lips. "And then, how about you start taking some responsibility for your own life, and you go home to your wife and your child and have dinner with them."

He moved around Sasuke then, just barely clipping their shoulders, stalking past Shimamaru and out of the office.

"Woah, Naruto!" Shikamaru called after him, shocked. "Bit harsh, don't ya think?"

"No, fuck him, Shikamaru, alright?" Naruto shouted back from the foyer. The two night desk clerks kept their eyes on their work, doing their level best not to interrupt the scene. "Has he ever even asked his daughter how her day was? Does he know her favorite animal or color? Does he care how much effort Sakura puts into raising her, pretty much alone? Sasuke needs to get some goddamn perspective!" He disappeared out the door, leaving Shikamaru and Sasuke alone in his office.

Sasuke stared after him, eyes wide. His breath had fled him in the wake of Naruto's fury.

"Jeez…" Shikamaru muttered, uncomfortable. "Look, he-"

"It's fine." Sasuke said, composing himself quickly, and making his own exit. Slower, so as not to catch up with the blonde.

Shikamaru shook his head, annoyed. There it was, yet more trouble on their doorstep. He slowly went over and settled into the desk, propping his feet up and preparing for his overnight stay in the office, in charge of evening staff that night. Naruto probably wasn't going to recover from this argument very quickly.

Sasuke walked slowly towards Sakura's townhouse, intent on joining his wife and daughter for dinner. Naruto had made some valid points, of course he had. Sasuke would be the first to admit that he had a lot of trouble, sometimes, caring about either of them. His wife. His child. Naruto was right, in everything that he'd said.

That wasn't what dragged Sasuke's feet though. He wasn't mad at Naruto for what he'd said, or even how he'd said it. Naruto's outburst had been very clearly, to him at least, a diversion tactic. Naruto had blown up at him as if Sasuke had accused him of not making time for him, but that wasn't what Sasuke had done. Sasuke had accused Naruto of avoiding him. So, what had Naruto done? Picked a fight, almost on the same topic, and fled the building.

It made him wonder…

Naruto wrapped his arms around Hinata's waist and kissed her neck. She stood over the sink, washing the evening's dishes. She giggled at him, leaning away to give him more access. "That was delicious." Naruto smiled, kissing her neck again.

"Dinner?" She joked, and he smiled against her neck. "Thanks. You seemed a bit distracted, though."

Naruto let out a rough sigh. "Just Sasuke stirring up shit." He grumbled, rubbing his nose into her neck. "That's ok though, one night with you and I'll-"

She placed a wet hand over one of the ones on her waist, grip firm, and half turned with an apologetic look on her face. It was one of her gentler ways of turning him down. He smothered his growl of annoyance. She didn't deserve that from him.

Instead, he smiled, kissing her temple. "That's ok though, one stiff drink or two and a good sound sleep and I'll get over him."

She kissed him. "It's only Sasuke, I'm sure you can handle him."

He nodded. Just his name again brought a tightness to him, exhausted him, made him angry and sad and just- He smiled at her. "Now, how can I help?"

She shook her head. "No, it's fine, I'll take care of it."

He tutted at her, squeezing her waist. "What else needs to be done, Hinata." It was no longer a question, but his eyes were gentle.

Her heart swelled, and she listed some of the things she still had to do before the children were down for the night. He took up the task of bathing their daughter, a light but time-consuming job. He kissed her cheek before pulling away, determined to catch his energetic daughter and drag her to the bathroom. "Figure out what I'm doing afterward." He suggested as he disappeared down the hall.

She listened as their daughter's shrieks of laughter soon filled the house, as Naruto probably heaved her up into the air, and they began to sing 'Bath time, bath time' to each other. Hinata wondered what she'd done, to have found such a loving and helpful husband.

They had all long since gone to bed, and he sat alone in his office. The window was open, drastically lowering the temperature of the room, but he allowed the fox's chakra to spread within him, keeping him at a nice, toasty temperature.

He had a few reports spread around him, but he couldn't for the life of him keep his attention on them. It gnawed at him, as it always did, when Sasuke was in town. Being Hokage felt so different when his friends' reports flooded his desk. He read through them all, imagining Sasuke out in the field, getting dirty, bloody, taking down enemies. All of it just made him feel so… fake. That's why he'd been avoiding Sasuke, or at least part of it. His very existence reminded Naruto of how flat and boring his life was now, full of paperwork, shrieking little girls in bubble baths, and messy little boys putting dents in the wall with their roughhousing. (As well as the subsequent organizing to repair said wall.) Naruto sighed again, running his hand along his brow and tossing the report away from him, fed up.

He'd told Shikamaru most of that, but that wasn't all.

Naruto worried his lip, annoyed by the guilt he felt. Sasuke was right. Sasuke was his friend, and he'd shouted at him, accused him of being a terrible husband and father. He'd even lied to his face! If Naruto wanted to make time for anyone, he could. A carefully placed shadow clone or two and he could spend the whole day sleeping if he wanted! It was just that… seeing him, being near him, it had just… gotten a lot harder recently.

He sighed again, he didn't want to leave it like this. He'd just have to suck it up and go see the man. He owed Sasuke an explanation, even if he had to make one up. He bundled himself up once more and left the house. It was chillier now, but the moon was full. Naruto loved it, the silence, the chill, the gentle light hitting his city so beautifully. It made… it made everything more beautiful he thought, as he approached Sakura's townhouse, and looked up to see a certain silhouette perched on the roof.

He stopped, watching Sasuke, who had his face turned into the moon and breeze. Just… watching. It made his heart hurt, but he didn't look away.

Sasuke hadn't noticed his approach, but it didn't take him long to spot the blonde and drop down. Naruto kicked the ground sheepishly under Sasuke's glare. "Did ya still wanna get that drink?"

"Hn. Fine."

The establishment Naruto brought them to was a favorite of his. It was always open, the private rooms were lovely, the food and drink were always high quality and the atmosphere in the main room was almost always light and fun. He asked for one of the private rooms with particularly plush lounges. It was already past midnight, and he didn't want either of them to noisily clatter into their respective homes in a few hours. If they drank so much that they fell asleep here, nobody would bother them.

A trio of sake bottles and a device to keep them warm, some temperature control so they could slip out of their shoes and outer gear, and some snacks, and the two of them settled into two plush lounges on opposite sides of a nice, little wooden table.

It took them a few drinks in silence before Naruto let out a huff, the words falling out of him in a flurry. "I'm sorry about earlier." He smiled sheepishly. "Things have been nuts around here lately."

"How so?" Sasuke asked, cool eyes watching Naruto carefully.

Naruto transitioned smoothly into a passionate deluge of information, gesturing here and there, laughing, telling Sasuke all about the antics in the tower, in the village, with the other nations, and more. It was nice, to see him act like his old self, and Sasuke settled in, momentarily forgetting that there had been any problems or misunderstandings between them. That is, right up until he realized Naruto seemed to be missing a subject.

The slight smile he had slipped further and further away as he listened, waiting for the inevitable topic change that just… never seemed to come. It took a while for Naruto to slow down enough for Sasuke to reasonably get a word in.

"How about Hinata and the kids, how are they?"

"They're fine." There it was. It was in the way Naruto's eyes slid away from Sasuke's, in the way he drank from his sake cup, in the way he was not at all geared up to follow that sentence with any more. But before Sasuke could press the matter, Naruto was back at him, smile switching into a small smirk. "What about Sarada, how was her day?"

Sasuke hesitated. "I didn't ask her." Naruto laughed until he fell sideways on the couch, much to Sasuke's chagrin. He remained stiff in his seat, ignoring the annoyed blush that crept onto his face. Naruto gradually pulled himself back up, dabbing at the corners of his eyes. "We did talk."

"Oh good, I'm glad. She's a pretty cool kid, Sasuke." Naruto said, trailing off.

Silence for them wasn't usual, at least not like this. With one of the sake bottles finished between them and the second half way there, when the energy had been so good just minutes before… Sasuke hadn't realized just how much he relied on Naruto's ability to carry a conversation. As it stretched, longer and longer, he found it harder and harder to get a word out.

Naruto didn't seem like he minded, somehow. Sitting there with his goofy little smile, pouring them both another cup. Maybe he really was maturing, and had become comfortable with silence? And maybe Sasuke really wasn't maturing, because it did nothing but put his hackles up.

"Wh-"

"And Sakura?" Naruto asked, interrupting him perfectly.

"Is Naruto ok?" Sasuke had asked suddenly.

Sakura looked up from the dishes, eyebrow raised. "Yes? I mean, I guess? I'm sorry, I'm not the right person to ask, I probably see him less than you do."

"Really?" Sasuke asked, surprised.

Sakura shrugged. "He's busy, Sasuke. Tsunade used to always whine about being busy, and she didn't have two kids and a wife at home. And unlike her, Naruto takes his job seriously. What do you expect? Why are you asking, did something happen?"

"…No, nothing happened."

"She's fine." Sasuke replied stiffly. "I asked her about you."

"Oh?" Naruto was still smiling, and Sasuke was beginning to wonder just how fake his smiles really were.

"She said she never sees you." Sasuke said.

Naruto shrugged. "Yeah, well, not never, but not very often."

"What happened."

Naruto blinked, surprised by his tone. "With Sakura? We-"

"No. Not with Sakura." Sasuke said stiffly, staring Naruto down. "What. Happened."

Naruto met his gaze evenly. Then, he sighed.

And it was as if everything fell out of him. He seemed to unravel before Sasuke's very eyes. He crossed one leg over the other and leaned back, reaching over his shoulder to rub at his neck as if it were stiff. Both actions were time sinks Naruto favored when he wanted to actually take the time to consider his next words. "There's… no easy way to answer that, Sasuke."

His voice was low and quiet, and his eyes were morose and dark, a stark contrast to just moments before. Sasuke was surprised, once again, to find that those smiles really were fake. "Did I ask for an easy answer?" Sasuke shot back, concern rising. He didn't reply. "Naruto."

He wasn't prepared for the way Naruto looked at him then. There was something electric in the way their eyes connected now over that tiny, tiny space. He watched, entranced, as Naruto's chest rose and fell with a deep breath, eyes not straying. "No, I guess you didn't. Sasuke, I-"

Naruto's eyes let go of him then as he shifted, grimacing. He worried his hands together for a moment, trying to figure out what to say, or maybe how to say it. How to talk about whatever it was that burdened him so. Naruto seemed to have finally succumbed to the weight that Sasuke knew rested on his shoulders from almost every person in the village, and now, he supposed, from him too.

When Sasuke stood and moved, sitting beside Naruto and placing a hand on his thigh, he honestly thought he was being helpful. He didn't allow the blush that threatened to alight on his face to bloom, telling himself the intimate action was purely because his friend needed him. "You can talk to me." He grimaced as he said the words, so foreign in his mouth. But Naruto was at the top of the list of people Sasuke would attempt to comfort in times of need, and it seemed like this was one of those times.

Naruto stared at the hand on his thigh. He'd gone blank. Absolutely blank. The only thing left in his mind was a tiny version of himself waving a big red arrow and pointing at that hand. On his thigh.

He brushed the limb off quickly and stood, walking away from Sasuke, nearly tripping on the table. They had, for the briefest moment, been in a perfect little bubble of closeness, and he couldn't stand it. Sasuke blinked, surprised, and stood as well. Had he done it wrong? "Sorry, I just-"

"No!" Naruto said quickly, shaking his head. "No, shit, Sasuke, I'm sorry, I don't- I'm sorry, I didn't think this through, I-" Naruto was certain he looked as panicked as he sounded, as panicked as he was. He thought he had control of the situation, but Sasuke's hand had just thrown it out the window and he didn't think he could salvage the situation.

Naruto's searching eyes landed on his coat, across the room, just as Sasuke's did. "I need to go." Naruto said, moving.

"No!" Sasuke was closer, and they both laid hands on the coat at the same time.

Naruto groaned, tugging at the coat. "Please, Sasuke, I-"

"Tell me what's wrong." Sasuke said firmly, tugging harder and the pair, more than a few drinks in their systems, stumbled perilously close to each other.

Naruto dropped the coat with a noise of exasperation, throwing his hands up and turning away from his friend. "How…" another bitter chuckle. Sasuke was growing to hate hearing such a noise from him. "How can I tell you what's wrong, Sasuke, when I don't-" Naruto gestured vaguely, catching Sasuke's eyes over his shoulder. "When I don't even know what's right anymore."

With that, Naruto's shoulder shook. He covered his face with one of his hands, crying. Sasuke gently placed the coat back down, overwhelmed. He hadn't been expecting that. It had been a long time since Sasuke had seen Naruto break down, and he didn't know what to do.

Part of him said to hug. Another part of him fought that first part. He lifted his hand, laying it lightly over one of Naruto's shaking shoulders. "Well, that's definitely a start." He said, trying to keep himself in check.

Naruto let out a watery laugh. Sasuke allowed the corners of his mouth to pick up with that small victory. "Sit down."

Naruto gave himself a few long moments to calm himself, and wipe away the last of his sudden tears, before he slowly moved and sat back down on the couch. Sasuke sat down carefully beside him, this time leaving a bit more room between them lest he set the blonde off again. "…Keep talking."

Naruto didn't.

For a few minutes they just sat, carefully not looking at each other. Sasuke eventually leaned forward and poured them both another drink, and Naruto murmured his thanks as he swiftly drank it down.

"I shouldn't…" Naruto finally began. He reached forward, picking up Sasuke's hand gently. Idly, he intertwined their fingers, and lay their linked hands back on his thigh, where Sasuke's had rested earlier. "I shouldn't ever say anything like this…" Naruto voice was low and soft, a bit raspy. Between the hold and his voice, Sasuke had to focus hard to hear Naruto's words.

He almost wished he didn't.

"Having kids feels wrong." Naruto said softly. Sasuke's breath hitched at the confession, eyes wide. No, Naruto loved his children, surely… "Being married feels wrong. Being Hokage feels wrong. I don't think I was built for this, Sasuke, any of it. All this…Mundane busy work. I miss being in the field, I miss fighting until I was gasping for breath, punching until my knuckles bled, looking out for only myself or my team. But…"

There was more. Naruto's eyes came up then, and Sasuke wished that they hadn't, as Naruto looked deep into his eyes and said his next words.

"But the thing that feels the most wrong, Sasuke, is you."

Sasuke's whole world ground to a halt. It was him? He was the cause of Naruto's suffering? But why, how? He managed to ask, his own voice sounding far away. "Me?"

Naruto's eyes had slipped shut, but now they opened again. They were rimmed with red, but they held Sasuke steady. Sasuke didn't move, waiting, hoping. "You… and Sakura." Absolute venom.

Sasuke laughed breathlessly, surprised. "What are you saying?"

He knew. Of course, he knew. He just didn't believe it, couldn't believe it. What Naruto had just said, what he had just heard. He saw it now, in the way Naruto was looking at him. In the way he'd tried to brush him off earlier that day, to avoid hurting them both. In the way his own hand, just minutes before, had sent him into such chaos.

"You know what I'm saying, Sasuke." Naruto's voice was soft.

There wasn't enough distance between them.

This was too much.

Sasuke had spent so much time pushing those feelings down, aside, away. He'd told himself, over and over again, that it was one-sided, and that even if it wasn't, Naruto deserved way way better than someone like him.

Naruto moved a fraction of an inch closer and Sasuke shot up from the couch. Their fingers were still linked together. Naruto frowned up at him, before standing himself. "Sasuke, I-"

"No, don't say it." Sasuke hissed, panicked.

Naruto hesitated, hurt. He wore it all over his face, the damn idiot, and Sasuke's panic doubled and tripled in the wake of that pathetic look. This couldn't be happening. Why now, after all this time?

"I… wasn't going to say 'it'." Naruto finally let out, with a soft chuckle. He sighed and let go of Sasuke's hand. It was suddenly cold again. His whole world was, no, both of their worlds were suddenly cold again. How does a chasm open in the space of a few feet. "I just-"

"Just what?" Sasuke asked.

He didn't know what was going to happen next. He didn't want the moment to continue, because he didn't want it to end. He'd forgotten which way was left, which way was right, and why either of them wore rings on their fingers. He hadn't forgotten Naruto, how could he, after having spent so many nights thinking about him. Not when he stood before him, like this, baring his soul.

Naruto shook his head hopelessly, dropping back down on the couch. "Sometimes I think…" half a smile. "It would have been perfect. Us. Y'know?" He took the time to pour out some more sake for them both, and took a sip from his cup. "And sometimes I think it would've been awful, that we'd fight and argue non-stop." Another shake of his head, then he looked right up into Sasuke's eyes, serious. "But… no matter how bad I think it could've gotten between us, I want it more than the happiest nights I have with her. With them. Here." He gestured around them. Sasuke knew his gesture incorporated the village, not just the room.

Sasuke watched him.

"Everytime I see you, I want you more. I want you by my side, or I want to be where you are, out there." Naruto smiled sadly. "And… it breaks me, Sasuke, to know that I can't have you anymore. That we made our beds, and now we have to lie in them. But… for just for a second there, I thought-" He shook his head.

"You thought…?" Sasuke asked.

Naruto shrugged, turning his gaze away. It had been too much, and he was tired, and it hurt. At least, that's how it felt, until Sasuke tentatively came back to the couch, sitting beside him. Sasuke himself was caught on the fence, stuck between hope and fear, acceptance and rejection, love and loss, and he needed Naruto to keep talking.

Naruto turned back to him. He reached out, and the faintest whisper of his knuckles trailed down Sasuke's cheek, causing his eyes to slip shut, relishing the touch. "I thought… maybe… just for one night…" Naruto's breath was a whisper that he somehow heard so clearly, but Sasuke was still surprised to feel lips press gently against his own.

It was so soft, just the lightest of lip brushings, and it melted Sasuke. The apprehension, the fear, all of that fled him. The hand on his cheek trailed lower, cupping his neck as the tips of his fingers slipped into Sasuke's hair.

They parted for only a moment, and both of their eyes opened, searching, making sure the other was still there, was still here, in this moment. This cursed, blessed moment that they were caught in together. Finally together. Then Naruto's fingers tugged ever so slightly, pulling Sasuke's face forward again into another kiss. He went willingly.

Sasuke's hand came up to steady himself against Naruto's leg. Naruto's kisses were soft, exploring, caring, but they didn't stay that way. They came harder, and faster, almost bruising, and it felt like they were lunging for each other, rolling their tongues together in a cacophony as they indulged in each other's flavor, breathless and panting, the air around them growing hot and heavy.

Naruto's hands were in his hair, then they were on his waist, and Sasuke found himself pulled into Naruto's lap. When Naruto broke their lips apart to trail hot kisses and bites down his jawline and across his neck, Sasuke tangled his hand in Naruto's hair, unable to resist moaning under Naruto's expert ministrations.

Naruto shifted underneath him, loving his moans, and their steadily growing erections finally brushed against each other in a delicious moment that had Sasuke pulling at Naruto's hair with a gasp, and Naruto growling in reply. The rumble sent shivers up and down Sasuke's spine. Naruto rid them of their shirts, before wrapping his arms around Sasuke's bare torso and kissing him wherever he could reach, rocking their hips together. Sasuke had no control, but he couldn't bring himself to care, allowing Naruto to lead them, losing himself in the myriad of sensations Naruto was subjecting him to, and grinding his own hips back down. Naruto shifted them again, picking Sasuke up and turning to lower him into the couch, him on his knees hovering over Sasuke and kissing him full on the mouth once more.

It was only as Sasuke's back connected with the couch and he was sandwiched against his teammate in all his panting, hungry glory, that he panicked, realizing that this was really actually happening. But, it couldn't. Naruto was- he was- they were both married, they had kids. Sure, he'd dreamt about this moment, over and over and over and over again, so much so that he wasn't even 100% certain this wasn't a dream, that this wasn't yet another fantasy running through his mind, but they couldn't actually do this.

Naruto felt Sasuke freeze up, and wasn't entirely surprised when the hand in his hair pulled him back. He was confused though. Panting, he looked down into Sasuke's face, waiting for an explanation.

"Naruto, you're married."

Naruto laughed breathlessly. "So are you." He shot back, moving to kiss Sasuke again. The hand in his hair didn't slacken.

"No, Naruto, really, I can't let you do this." Sasuke said, kicking himself as he did. This wasn't right, and that wasn't fair.

"How can you-" Naruto smiled, as if he was in on a joke Sasuke wasn't. Sasuke let go of him, surprised. "With you, right here, in my arms, wearing half your clothes, rock hard and blushing-" another breathless laugh. His eyes were so bright. "Do you honestly think I care about literally anything else right now?"

Sasuke didn't say anything back. There wasn't anything he could say. Naruto kissed his nose, gently, still smiling, eyes crinkled in confusion, as if he genuinely couldn't believe Sasuke was this dense. "Let the sun explode, I don't care." Another kiss, on the lips. "Let the ground open up and swallow us whole, I don't care." Another kiss. "Literally nothing could tear me away from this moment with you."

Then he paused, a shadow crossing his features. He pulled far enough away to see Sasuke clearly, blinking quickly to make sure his eyes weren't playing tricks on him. Sasuke's hand had fallen from his hair, but as he pulled away it caught onto Naruto's waist, still unwilling to let the blonde extract himself despite his words.

"Unless…" It seemed to hit him then, and Sasuke watched with a sinking heart as Naruto's eyes briefly checked their surroundings, forcibly dragging himself back to reality. The air between them had been so warm, and his pulling away brought a chill between them, raising goosebumps on Sasuke's chest.

Sasuke moved to sit up and Naruto's eyes snapped back down to him, his hands tightening reflexively to keep Sasuke in place, before relaxing. "Sasuke, if you don't want this-"

"Naruto, I-"

Naruto shook his head fervently, silencing Sasuke. He worried his lip for a moment, gaze slipping to the side, before he finally brought it back. "If you… don't want this, Sasuke, I'll stop. Even if I- Even if it takes every ounce of my strength to get off you and forget this ever happened and go back… go back to how things were, I will… but… you need to tell me now."

Sasuke was meant to be the cooler head. Sasuke was meant to be the logical one. Naruto was always pulled by his heart, by his feelings, by his wants. He was telling Sasuke, in no uncertain terms, that he couldn't make the decision to back away from what was happening right now, but he would listen to Sasuke if that's what the man decided.

For a second, Sasuke made himself entertain the idea. Having Naruto get off of him now, the chill that would wrap around them both, the dissonance that would come between them and never ever leave again. He considered the absolute need he felt coming from Naruto, from the look in his eyes to the hardness pressed against his thigh, and he tried… for just a second, to get that perspective Naruto had mentioned earlier. That they were adults. Who had families. Who had wives and children that loved them.

And it pulled at his heart to realize he was about to ruin Naruto's life. His own life didn't matter to him anymore, not really, but Naruto was the Hokage. And… It wasn't in Sasuke to push him away. Sasuke knew the village had always perceived his actions as selfish, but until this very moment he'd never allowed himself to believe he truly was. His family had deserved vengeance, they had. But Hinata didn't deserve this from Naruto, and Sakura didn't deserve this from him.

"This could ruin your life." He finally bit out, unwilling to make the decision that would affect them so. He thrust the problem back into Naruto's hands. He was too selfish for this decision. Naruto needed to realize that. Naruto needed to realize that Sasuke was a horrible, selfish person, and get up and leave him there.

Naruto laughed. Whatever fear or apprehension that had colored his eyes while Sasuke had deliberated fled. "You still don't get it, do you?"

"Don't laugh at me, idiot."

"If doing this is going to ruin my life, Sasuke, there's only one thing I can say to that..." Naruto said, eyes sharp. "Go ahead, ruin it." It was a command, clear as day, and Naruto smashed his lips against Sasuke's once more. There was no more hesitation in either of them anymore. They'd made their decision.

Naruto pushed Sasuke up the couch until he backed up against the arm, kissing him as he moved, then trailing his mouth back down his form. He palmed Sasuke's erection through his pants, smirking as he ran his mouth over the fabric, feeling the man shiver beneath him, fingers winding through his hair.

He pulled it out, appraising it briefly with his fingers and eyes before locking eyes with the Uchiha and running his tongue slowly up it's length. Sasuke watched him with lusted over eyes, a healthy red on his cheeks. Naruto loved it, and took the whole thing in his mouth, bobbing up and down the length as Sasuke's fingers winded through his hair, gripping and releasing in tandem with his movements, relishing Sasuke's stifled moans and gasps, firm hands stilling Sasuke's hips as they wantonly rocked up against him.

Sasuke lost himself in the sensations. He'd never been this turned on before, and he felt so light, so comfortable, so relaxed with the blonde. He swore lightly, tugging meaningfully at Naruto's hair as he felt the familiar curl in the pit of his stomach.

Naruto let him go, and it was quite the sight. His parted mouth, slick and grinning, his panted breaths wafting over Sasuke's stiff member. Sasuke ached as the blonde removed his mouth, he'd been close, but he knew they were far from done. Naruto clambered over him, kissing him once more, saltier than before. Sasuke thought he should be disgusted, knowing where that mouth had just been, but he found he didn't care.

Naruto frowned suddenly, pulling away. "Shit, we don't have-"

"We don't need protection, idiot."

Naruto laughed breathlessly. "No, dickhead, lube."

Sasuke shifted, reaching for his weapons pouch. The coats and shoes were further afield, but of course his weapons were close, even in Konoha, even with Naruto. He found it, thrusting it into Naruto's hands. Naruto obediently went fishing inside it, of course pricking himself on a senbon needle before he found what he was looking for – a thin, half empty bottle of clear liquid.

Naruto smirked down at Sasuke, raising an eyebrow as he rolled the bottle over in his hands. "Well used?"

"It gets lonely on the road." Sasuke snapped back.

Naruto's face fell.

He hadn't- Well. He hadn't meant to mean it like that. Naruto's next kiss was tender once more.

"I'm sorry." Naruto said, eyes heavy as he looked at him.

"It's not your fault." Sasuke grumbled.

"I hate it." Naruto growled, wrapping his arms around Sasuke and burying his face in the mans neck. "I hate that you're out there, and I'm stuck here. I worry about you all the time."

"Idiot." Sasuke grumbled, laying his hand on Naruto's back. Their moods had simmered down, and Sasuke found himself worrying that Naruto was about to let this be their natural stopping point. He didn't want that, and not just because he'd been within moments of finishing. They hadn't finished. This moment needed to continue. "Oi." He said, pulling Naruto back by his hair, locking on to blue eyes. "The only thing you have to worry about right now is right now."

Naruto smiled, nodding. "You're right." He shifted, leaning back. He tugged at Sasuke's pants, pulling them off. Then he stood, taking off his own. Sasuke took the opportunity to stretch out his legs, only a little embarrassed to be so naked before his friend, even though he watched hungrily as Naruto slipped out of his own pants, equally hard erection bobbing as he kicked his pants away.

Naruto lifted one of Sasuke's legs, sitting down between them, gently cradling Sasuke's foot and placing it on his shoulder, making a show of nipping at it as he did. He was half turned, facing Sasuke on the couch. "You're right." Naruto said again, popping the little bottle and spilling some of its contents into his hand. "We aren't finished here, not yet. Tell me, Sasuke… Do you need me?"

Sasuke turned away, blush returning. "…Yes." He ground out, stomach fluttering.

Naruto's hand pushed at Sasuke's thigh as he leaned forward, trying to catch Sasuke's eyes. "No, tell me."

Sasuke's eyes slipped shut, trying to escape the blonde's gaze. Everything had stilled, Naruto was waiting.

"I… need you." Sasuke said. His eyes had been closed, so he jolted as a slick finger suddenly slipped inside him. He gasped, fisting the couch at the sudden intrusion. Naruto already had one of his legs up and Sasuke reflexively lifted the other, allowing his ankle to rest on the back of the lounge.

Naruto's spare hand left his thigh, smoothing over his cheek. "I need you too." Naruto whispered, leant over the man. He watched Sasuke, entranced, as the man reacted to his ministrations. He was slow, carefully pulling the finger in and out, wiggling and curling it.

Sasuke panted, focusing on Naruto's voice, both loving and hating how his body moved at that moment. Naruto's words hit him almost as hard as his finger did. "I… want you." Sasuke let out, pushing his luck.

The finger, and Naruto, paused. Then it retracted, coming back in with a second. Sasuke keened, throwing his head back, form stiff. Naruto peppered kisses on his neck and torso. "I want you too, Sasuke." Naruto murmured into him, slowly moving his fingers, thoughts unravelling as he felt how tightly Sasuke hugged them. As his mouth ghosted over Sasuke's nipple the man shuddered, so Naruto adjusted his attention, licking and sucking the little nub as Sasuke's hand left the couch, finding it's way back to his hair once more. Sasuke's foot had long since slipped from his shoulder as he'd leaned forward, and rested against Naruto's elbow.

Naruto's fingers had been searching inside him, and as they finally brushed against that sensitive bundle of nerves Sasuke let out a shuddering gasp, tensing up. Naruto growled at him, throbbing, patience frayed. "Fuck, Sasuke." He rubbed at the spot, feeling the man beneath him climb closer and closer, sanity slowly fleeing them both.

"Naruto," Sasuke panted. God, just hearing his name, purred like that. He couldn't take any more of this. Sasuke knew, too, how close the blonde was because he was right there with him. He tried to smirk. "If you don't hurry up, I'm going to finish before you put it in."

"Well excuse me," Naruto grumbled. "Just trying not to hurt you, jeez."

He removed his fingers, covering himself generously with lube before lining them up, absolutely over the moon with the feeling of Sasuke's waiting hole at the tip of his dick, when Sasuke's hand stopped him. He looked up into Sasuke's eyes, curious. Sasuke had just needed another moment more to mentally prepare himself, but he had Naruto's attention so he made it count. "Naruto… I need you."

It wasn't a lie.

It had the desired effect, as lust took over Naruto's eyes once more, and he slowly pushed himself into Sasuke. It was a lot, and Sasuke was certain he nearly bit threw his tongue in his attempt to stifle himself, throwing his head back and screwing his eyes shut. Naruto didn't stop until he was all the way in, crooning over Sasuke, stroking his member, and kissing anything he could reach.

Sasuke gradually relaxed, focusing more and more on Naruto's hands than his dick. As the pain subsided, he brought himself back up, opening his eyes. Looking at Naruto, open-mouthed and panting as his chest rose and fell, Sasuke's legs thrown over his shoulders, pressed flush against him, one particular part disappearing from view, and his own stiff member in Naruto's slowly stroking hand, was more erotic than Sasuke could put into words.

Naruto appeared to be having similar thoughts.

"You're beautiful."

Sasuke's hand came up, smothering itself over Naruto's mouth. Naruto fought it, half so he could breathe, half so that Sasuke could see the grin he wore. The man was blushing brilliantly, effectively ruining his heated glare. His bruised lips also panted, and presently they tried to sneer at Naruto. "Shut up."

Naruto licked the hand held against his lips, drawing his tongue languidly up its length, enjoying the sight of Sasuke's eyes widening.

"Did you just lick me."

"Honestly, Sasuke, this was the last place left to lick." Naruto chuckled, welcoming the distraction. Because just being inside of Sasuke right now, while the man writhed and squeezed him, desperately trying to adjust, was sending him crazy. If he kept watching Sasuke like this, he'd probably bust just like that.

So, he seized the distraction (and Sasuke's hand) and pulled his mind away from the twitching tightness that enveloped him. He kept hold of Sasuke's arm with both of his, realizing immediately that that was unfair, but not caring.

He lavished over those fingers, gently moving his tongue around each digit, exploring every salty nook and cranny, feeling every thin scar and coarse bump. Sasuke watched in a mix of horror and fascination as the performance somehow made his dick even harder. When Naruto was done with his hand, a smile seared into his lips, he finally released it, coming down to kiss Sasuke.

Then, he moved.

He rocked, slowly, in and out. There were a few sighs and shuffles as they adjusted around each other, fixing the positions they were in. Naruto was focused, placing Sasuke's hips and legs just so in an attempt to-

"Shit!" Sasuke gasped.

There.

Naruto began a steady, easy pace, angled just so. Every time, smashing against that part of Sasuke that had him seeing stars. Naruto felt Sasuke's legs tremble against him and he knew that neither of them were going to last very long at all.

He switched up the tempo, pounding harder and faster into Sasuke, relishing his gasps and moans, certain he was releasing similar grunts and pants as he plowed into the man. Sasuke's legs had slipped from his shoulders, Naruto grabbed one of them and left the other on the lounges back, using his free hand to stroke Sasuke's cock.

Sasuke lay there, trying not to unravel too quickly, hand hooked around Naruto's neck as he moved, feeling the end rushing closer and closer.

"Sasuke," His voice, rough with need, panting, begging, "I can't-"

"M-me too." Sasuke panted back.

Naruto's hand locked in around Sasuke's thigh as his eyes screwed shut, a guttural groan coming from him as his thrusts suddenly sped up and lost rhythm, orgasm shaking through him as he emptied himself into Sasuke.

Sasuke couldn't keep his own eyes open no matter how hard he tried as Naruto's finish triggered his own, and he briefly appreciated that Naruto did not lose track of his handjob no matter how distracted he was. Cum shot half way up Sasuke's torso, as Naruto finally slowed down.

They tried to breathe.

It was difficult.

Naruto was grinning down at him, exhausted, sweaty hair slicked to his forehead, chest heaving. Sasuke knew he was in much the same state. Slowly, gently, Naruto pulled out of him, grabbing his shirt off of the floor to wipe himself down, then Sasuke, before unceremoniously wedging it between Sasuke's butt cheeks with a breathy chuckle.

Then he lay down on the lounge, pulling Sasuke against his chest. "Idiot."

"What?"

"Idiot."

Another laugh. "What, why?"

"You know why." Sasuke huffed.

Naruto's fingers were warm on his bare hip. His chest was warm, too. Sasuke leaned into it, allowing Naruto to hold him. They lay there until they cooled down. Then, a quick shadow clone threw Naruto's coat over them and adjusted the air conditioning.

He could sleep like this, Sasuke thought. And sleep didn't usually come easy to him.

He chanced a glance up. Naruto was looking down at him with half-lidded eyes, a dreamy smile on his face. It…

It actually made Sasuke's heart sink.

He'd ruined everything.

Naruto caught his chin, catching the negative emotions in Sasuke's eyes. "What?"

"I was just thinking about… tomorrow." Sasuke said, a half-truth.

"I think you mean today." Naruto turned, glancing over his shoulders. Sure enough, the windows were not as dark as they were before.

"Idiot." Trust the blonde to get hung up on semantics.

Naruto knew, of course, what Sasuke was really thinking about. He could see it in the blonde's eyes when he turned back to him. Then he shrugged. "Doesn't matter."

Sasuke growled. "Yes, it does matter."

"No," Naruto said, emaphatic. "It doesn't. Future Naruto can worry about it. Let's just enjoy this."

Sasuke grumbled this time. "Future Naruto is gunna be pissed at you."

"No," Naruto said again, nuzzling into Sasuke's hair. "He'll understand. If anything, he'll be jealous."

That startled a small laugh from Sasuke, and they relaxed, trying to enjoy the moment.

There was no way to know who fell asleep first.
