I know… I said I wouldn't write more… Well, He said so, so here's Part II! Enjoy!
The doors opened, and the light shining through the doors disrupted my vision of the inside for a moment. When my eyes adjusted, I saw that Jesus and I were standing at the top of a wide staircase that led down to a huge ballroom. Crystal gold chandeliers hung from the ceiling, which was supported by large white marble columns. Flowers and drapes decorated the hall, as you would see at any extravagant party. Tables lined the walls of the hall, with mountains of food, arrayed in an artistic display. And the people! I couldn't believe how many people had come. They stood around the tables of food and all around the ballroom, talking and smiling.
Breaking my moment of awe, I felt Jesus shift, as He breathed and raised His Voice, "My people! Thank you for coming to celebrate the welcoming home of My Father's daughter, Emily." He turned to me, and I felt as if my knees would give way, as I looked into His joyous face. "We are so very glad to welcome her Home." At His words, a roar of cheering and clapping sounded throughout the hall, but His eyes never left mine, as He lifted my hand to His lips and kissed the knuckles. I never thought my face could burn as much as it did now.
Jesus lowered my hand and returned it to its position of escorting. Amidst the cheering, He led me down the steps of the staircase. I have no idea how I managed to not trip in heels and a large ballgown, along with shaky legs. As we reached the bottom, the guests (many I was recognizing, and many I did not yet, though I assumed I would soon) moved back to make room, as Jesus led me to the center of the ballroom, taking my arm.
Then, I realized that all the guests were backing up further to clear the floor. In surprise, I turned to my Lord. Jesus let go of my arm, and extended His hand with a slight bow.
"May I have this dance?" He asked, with a gentle smile and His eyes boring into mine.
My heart pounded. It was happening. This was actually happening. I swallowed hard, before taking His hand and curtseying lower than He. "Yes," I could barely whisper. As we straightened, Jesus pulled me close, His right arm around my waist, and His left hand taking my right. And the music began.
What was the music? Beautiful, soft, soothing, and made me want to cry and sing all at the same time. But, I was too preoccupied with the Person in front of me. I never wanted it to stop. I forgot about everyone else in the room, and I only could see Him. The music began to change and took on a faster tempo. My Saviour was dancing with me, and I was flying. Around and around, we spun, twirling and waltzing. My face was splitting at the seams, and all I wanted to do was keep my eyes on Him.
Faster and faster we danced, until even in Heaven I felt as if I would fall over from dizziness. With a last burst of a crescendo, and only the beatific smile to the face of my Lord as a hint, Jesus dipped me, and the music ended.
The crowd around us erupted in applause, along with an appreciative piercing whistle from certain members. I would certainly count one of them as my grandmother who was known for hers. Jesus helped me to stand, but kept His left arm entwined with my right, as He raised His right hand for peace.
"Let the feast begin!" He cried, to which everyone cheered, because who doesn't love food? Guests began filling the room again, and I let out a breath, now that everyone wasn't staring at me.
"Too much?" Jesus asked, with a chuckle.
Looking up at Him, I giggled. "Just a bit."
He chuckled, and then looked behind me, with a nod. "There are some who would like to see you."
I turned to see my parents, youthful as the pictures we had of their wedding. I couldn't remember the last time on earth, I saw my father's hair as black as it was now. Smiles split their faces, and again, my mother had tears of joy peaking out.
"Mom! Dad!" I cried, letting go of Jesus to hug them tight. I noticed many of the guests looked over at my exclamation. I was glad. They should know the two most important people who helped make it possible for me to be here. They raised me to know my Lord.
My mother touched my face. "I know I saw you right before this, but you look even more beautiful than you did earlier."
"Momma…" I said, blushing. "...thank you." I smiled and turned to my father. "Hi, Daddy."
"My Emi-girl," he said, smiling. "I'm so proud of you."
I felt tears try to creep out. "Thanks, Dad. But you know one of the main reasons I'm here is because you and Mom brought me up the way you did." I smiled. "Thank you."
"And that I will very much agree with," said Jesus, stepping up next to me. My parents blushed, and were about to give Him respect, but He wrapped His arms around them both. "Thank you."
He stepped back, but kept His hands on their faces, and I've never seen my parents look as happy as they did now. They stood still gazing at Him for a moment, then glanced at each other, stepping back from Him. My father took my mother's arm and said, in his boyish voice, "We will see you later. We are going to grab some food!"
"Right!" I said. "Food!" Jesus laughed and took my arm. I looked up at Him, surprised. "Aren't You going to go and talk to the other guests?"
He raised His eyebrows. "Why? Aren't I your Escort?"
My eyes widened. "You mean… I get You all to myself?"
He leaned in and kissed my temple. "Yes."
I let out a squeal of excitement, as I squeezed His arm in happiness. Then, I blushed, embarrassed. "Oops. That snuck out."
"It was cute," He laughed. "Come on. Let's get some food."
"You're just going to have sweets," I teased, laughing, as we moved toward one of the tables.
Jesus shrugged, with a smile of nonchalance. "Maybe."
As we made our way, I waved and smiled at everyone, who smiled and waved back. Though, no one stopped us. You see, in Heaven, everyone has a sense when is the time to talk and when not to talk. Time is not an issue, so there is no need to rush. We made it to the table, and my eyes widened at all the kinds of food. I had no idea where to start.
My head tilted as an idea came, and I turned to Jesus. "You know, sweets sound really good." He gave a smile of I-told-you-so. "Where's the cake?"
Jesus laughed. "You don't like cake!"
"You know I'm not trying to be demanding," I pouted.
"I know," He said, giving one last laugh. "And your cake is here." He swept His hand and held up a piece of cake, but the only cake I would never say no to. I recognized it immediately. It was my mother's recipe; pretty much a coffee cake with chocolate chips.
I gasped in joy, and taking it from His hand, I murmured a "Thank You," before digging in. Jesus had also taken one for Himself, and we proceeded to giggle like kids with our hands in the cookie jar.
"Excuse me," a new voice said. "I was told to come and meet you."
Jesus turned to the newcomer and gave a proud smile. My gaze followed His, as He said, "Emily, I would like you to meet someone after My own Heart." My eyes widened at that phrase, catching on quickly. "This is David."
I froze, the cake forgotten, as I stared at the man before me. He was medium height, well-built, with red hair, and a pointed beard.
"Your mouth is open, Emily," Jesus whispered with a laugh. I blinked, and suddenly didn't know what to do with my cake. I suddenly felt very shy, and I inched closer to Jesus. I mean, this was KING DAVID! David and Goliath DAVID!
"Umm. Hi. Nice to meet you." I stammered, giving a small wave. I honestly didn't think I would meet him here. I mean I knew I would eventually, but not during this. My brain struggled to come up with something else to say. "Umm… I'm a big fan…"
David laughed. "Nice to meet you too. I've been told," he glanced at Jesus, who nodded, "you like music."
My eyes widened even more. "Y-yes. I do. All kinds. I always wanted to play different kinds like you, but I really only play the piano, and mostly dance. You're amazing by the way." I couldn't stop the hero's awe.
"I'm going to leave you for a moment," said Jesus, smiling. I glanced at Him in almost worry. "I'll be back. I'm going to get something ready." He nodded to David. "He's here to take over for a bit." He squeezed my hand and disappeared into the crowd.
"He'll be back," assured David. "We always long until we see Him next." He said it with such honesty, I smiled at him.
"Yes, I honestly keep pinching myself to make sure I'm actually here," I replied. I looked at the floor for a moment. "You know, the reason I'm such a big fan of yours is I always wanted to be like you. As He said, a man after His heart. I always strived to be like that." I couldn't help but give him a small bow of respect. "Thank you."
"You don't have to do that," he said, almost uncomfortable. "You know my story. I made many mistakes as well. None of us deserve that honor but Him."
I smiled. "True. But, He used you. And, I will still say thank-you." I shrugged and tilted my head. "And also thanks for showing me how to dance for Him. No one could tell me not to dance, because I just said, 'David danced for the Lord, I'm going to do it.'" I laughed. "You were the best excuse!"
David laughed. "Good! And He did mention that you like to dance."
I gave a sheepish smile. "Yeah… It's one of my favorite things to do. Especially if it's to praise music."
"Did someone say music?"
David and I turned to the Speaker, and of course it was Holy Spirit, Who had the most mischievous smile I'd seen on His face yet! He glanced back and forth between the two of us, and David and I looked at each other, realizing what He wanted.
My face split with a grin. "Let's do this."
"I'm in," agreed David, a smile wide on his face.
"Robert!" Holy Spirit cried, and my eyes widened, following His gaze to my cousin, with his guitar, who stood on a stage which I hadn't noticed before! My other cousins were with him; Richard, his twin, with his bass, Steve on drums, Tatiana standing next to Rob, both ready to sing; Caroline on piano.
"Wha-?" I stammered. David laughed.
"Yes Sir!" answered Robert. "HIT IT!" The music started. I knew exactly what song it was.
Holy Spirit glanced at me and David. "Shall we?"
"Yes!" I cried. Running out to the dance floor, I proceeded to sing, "La la la la-la, La la la la-la, La la la la-la" as loud as I could. David followed and we began to dance, crazy, Holy Spirit dance, as Holy Spirit zipped about like a whirlwind.
And this is what we sang. (So Good by Planetshakers - live version) A/N: I would play it, as you read, if I were you.
A kind of explosion
It happened inside me
The moment You came in
Into my life
I felt Your power
It lifted me higher
Now I'm on fire
Burning for You
The entire party of people felt what was happening. As David and I danced, everyone began to join in, until the entire room was one, loud, crazy, dance party. I would have laughed in awe, if I weren't singing. I was dancing with King David AND Holy Spirit!
No I'm not mistaken
In who I'm praising
You are the reason
That I'm alive
Jesus You came in
And everything's changing
So I am praising
And lifting You high
God You're so good
God You're so good
It was about this time that I began to look for Jesus. I did not want to do this without Him. Where are You?
There's nobody like You
There is no one like You
"Here."
God You're so good
God You're so good
I whipped around, as everyone began to sing louder and dance harder the moment He appeared.
There's nobody like You
There is no one like You
Jesus took my hand and spun me, joining in our praise dance.
There's nothing better
Lord, than Your presence
I wanna stay here
All of my days
It's so releasing
Here in Your freedom
So I am praising
And lifting Your name
God You're so good
God You're so good
There's nobody like You
There is no one like You
God You're so good
God You're so good
There's nobody like You
There is no one like You
Suddenly, as the drums began to play the roof disappeared and an even brighter light shone down. My eyes widened as I realized a portal was forming, right to the Throne of the Father.
"Papa!" I exclaimed and spun to look up at Him. Our eyes locked, and my heart pounded inside my chest. Even though He was far away, it was as if He was right in front of me. He smiled, and I heard Him, like a whisper, "Dance for Me, precious one."
I laughed. "Of course, Papa!"
Say Whoa
Whoa
Say Whoa
Whoa
Say Whoa
Whoa
There is no one like You
There is no one like You
Say Whoa
Whoa
Say Whoa
Whoa
Say Whoa
Whoa
I glanced at Jesus, for He had stopped and gazed at His Father. He smiled as His eyes filled with love. I felt my knees weaken, and I began to melt to the floor as an almost electric pull buzzed between Them. Jesus turned and swept me up before I could fall.
There is no one like You
There is no one like You
By now, everyone was looking up, and we could all feel the Father's love and joy.
God You're so good
God You're so good
There's nobody like You
There is no one like You
God You're so good
God You're so good
There's nobody like You
There is no one like You
There is no one like You
As the crowd cheered, Jesus pulled me close. "Welcome Home, My love," He whispered, so only I could hear.
I looked Him in the eyes. "You are Home."
Well… welcome to my brain. I hope you enjoyed your stay. :)
I had tons of fun writing this, because I want everyone to see that Heaven is fun, crazy, and full of joy. NO WAY are we going to sit around and not have fun!
And, this is supposed to be here too. "Your Will be done on Earth as it is Heaven." We are to make Heaven on Earth. Make them ONE! Go!
NOTE: Yes, I used the pronoun Them. To understand this, He is still Three. He can be They. He refers to Himself as Us in Genesis 1. "Let Us make man in Our image." This was the Trinity speaking to each other. This fact literally makes me squeal with excitement. The more you read the Old Testament, you see all aspects of the Trinity. Jesus/The Word shows up ALL the time. Holy Spirit, of course, is more obvious, since He is referred to as the Spirit of God. Anyways, Elohim is the name for God in Hebrew, used in Genesis 1. This is actually a plural word, referring to the fact that He is Three. :) So it is fine to use Them when They are separate and not One. Our God is amazing, and it will take eternity to learn about Him.
And, yes, our God is One. :)
