My eyes opened to the morning sun, filling my bedroom. I shut my eyes again, turning over and refusing the call of the morning.
"Nope, not getting up yet," I murmured into my pillow. "But," I squeezed my pillow, "good morning, Lord."
Good morning, My love.
I started. "Jesus?"
His chuckle rumbled in response, as I blushed. In my mind's eye, He reached His hand out to me. "Come with Me; I have something to show you." His smile seemed to be slightly wider than usual. I reached out to take His hand, and suddenly, my mind was transported to a completely different place.
We stood at the foot of tall cliffs that glowed and glistened. In fact, everything seemed to glow and glisten. My breath was stolen for a moment, for I realized where He had taken me. Had He really taken me to show me a place in Heaven? Right through the cliff, in front of us, was a valley leading through the cliff face. Is that water I hear? I froze in shock.
Jesus turned to look at me, with a tilt of His head, and smile quirked, meaning He had something up His sleeve. "Come on." With only a squeeze of my hand as a signal, He took off in a run, pulling me with Him. I couldn't help but give a yelp of surprise.
Dashing into the narrow valley, the cliffs on either side rose higher, and the green grass was soft beneath my feet. The sound of water grew louder, until it was roaring, and within moments I saw the source of the roar.
Waterfalls. Hundreds of them. Waterfalls on the cliffs on either side of us, disappearing into deep pools of blue and white. Waterfalls climbing hundreds of feet above our heads, as if they were giant moving steps, rising higher and higher. Light shines and sparkles as if being refracted by millions of diamonds. Rainbows were everywhere I turned my head. Trees, bushes, and flowers were planted sporadically on ledges where waterfalls ended and another began.
My eyes and mouth were wide in amazement, and I almost asked Him where we were, but the answer came to my mind.
The Valley of Waterfalls.
Still running, we reached an enclave of waterfalls, so we were almost completely surrounded by a circle of waterfalls, and we stopped. The green grass beneath our feet dropped off, and a pool of crystal clear water lay at the foot of the waterfalls. Not even gasping for breath, I let go of Jesus' hand to walk around in wonder and gaze upward, trying to see the tops, but they disappeared into clouds of delicious clear, fresh spray.
His Voice interrupted my moment of awe, and I stopped, looking at Him. "What do you think?" His hand was outstretched to the scenery in pride.
My heart leapt, and my face split into a large, laughing grin. "What do I think? You know exactly what!" I jumped happily, spinning. "It's beautiful, amazing, and wonderful!" I ran over to Him, throwing my arms around His neck and kissing His cheek. "Thank You. It's a wonderful surprise."
Jesus returned my smile, brushing some of my hair away from my face. "You're welcome. I thought you'd like it."
His smile then turned mischievous, and I gave Him a side-glance. "What are You think-ING?!" I shrieked as He swept me up His arms, carrying me closer to the water's edge.
"What about a swim?" He said, as if talking about the weather, and jumped in, still holding me.
I braced for the shock of cold water, but it wasn't cold at all. In fact, it was refreshingly pleasant, like when you jump in a pool after a hot day outside. A moment later, we were back above the surface, and He set me on my feet, laughing. I must have still had an expression of shock. Smiling and in retaliation, I hit the water, sending water in His direction, but of course He blocked it.
Trying to frown at my unsuccess, but my chest was heaving with unspent laughter, I splashed Him again. "You did that on purpose!"
Jesus splashed me back. "You thought it was fun, though!" He countered.
"Yes. I did!" I answered, sending another retaliating splash. He dodged it again, with a smirk, this time disappearing into the water around us.
I pursed my lips, looking around me trying to spot Him in the water. "You won't let me get You once?!"
The roar of the waterfalls was all I heard, until a Voice whispered behind me, "Nope."
My eyes widened in surprise, as He pulled me under again. But this time, He held me and didn't let go.
Under the surface, the roar of the waterfalls was muted, and I could now hear the pounding of my heart. His arms were around my waist, and we seemed to be floating. Where did the floor of the pool go?
"Open your eyes," He whispered into my ear. Then, He chuckled. "And, you can breathe."
I slowly opened my eyes, and then gasped. The water around us seemed to be as bright as above the surface, but I couldn't see the bottom or top. It was as if we were floating in a cloud of white and rainbow.
"I was trying to show you this earlier, but you popped right back up," He said, with a chuckle, embracing me from behind. I gulped, blushing and looking away, because Jesus' face was only inches from mine.
"Why are you afraid?" He said, gently turning me to face Him. "It's only Me here."
My lip quivered, and my hands came up to grasp my arms. "That's what scares me sometimes. I mean, You're You, and I'm just me. I mean - "
I never finished, for He cut off my words with a searing kiss. I froze, surprised, but He did not cease, as He responded. You are Mine. Those thoughts do not deserve to be voiced.
My eyes hurt as I felt tears come but never felt them as they melted in with our surroundings. Eyes closing, I sank into His embrace, returning His kiss, my arms encircling His neck. He would always give more than I expected, for that's Who He was and always would be.
So… um… this actually happened… This morning of Feb. 21, the Lord showed me this place. I've taken a bit of poetic license of what happened there, but essentially this is what happened and what I saw. (blush) This has never happened to me before. I was still in my bedroom, but my mind was in a completely different place. This was the first time He showed me a movie image. Usually I'll get a picture or impression when He wants to show me something. But this was the first time the image was moving or real-time, and I was able to look around in it.
I did not see in clarity, but I knew the things I didn't see were there, like the rainbows and the water sparkling like diamonds. I could see the waterfalls glowing without any shadows. If you wear contacts or glasses, it's like when you don't wear them. Everything is blurry.
Now, excuse me. I have to go draw it. :)
