Peter tried the first prototype. He made the battery himself so it would take time to teach the recruits how to make that. He switched it on. It worked! But then it exploded... "Needs work..." he said. The Kings and Queens, with absence of Susan and Liliandil, were not impressed.
"The trees are getting depressed by our cut downs," Lucy said in disappointment. "We have to get this done as soon as possible, Peter."
Peter was displeased, but he understood her concern. He nodded. "I will see."
After that Edmund went to check on Annabelle, the girl. He knocked and checked. Annabelle was still laying there in the soft bed with the view of the courtyard. He sat beside her, thinking of ways of what it would be, but he was no doctor. He did not understand what her sickness was and he was sure it wasn't contagious so it's not a plague.
Then he noticed her necklace. He contemplated. He shouldn't, but curiosity got the better of him and checked the pendant on it. It was heavy in his palm. He flipped it around and he finally found it has a tiny latch. He opened it and there was a micro vial inside. Something red in it. If it's blood... It might be dark curse. Nothing good comes with blood. He closed the locket and went to find Peter in the stable.
He strode in just to say, "Peter, apologies, but I have to talk to a wizard. Just in case, I take too long, I'll leave the watch to the Head Soldier."
"What? Edmun-"
But Edmund had left to get a horse.
He arrived in the home of a great wizard, ̶G̶a̶n̶d̶a̶l̶f̶ Barnaby. As he knocked, the doors opened immediately as if the wizard had expected him. He entered the humble abode. "Ah!" greeted a cheery wizard in a robe and pointy hat. "Welcome, oh! My King Edmund!" he spoke in a deep bow. "I have heard of your return to Narnia. The Great Aslan must have needed your assistance. What can I do for you, My King?" He went to get a chair. "Please, you must have rode a terrible path here. It is quite rocky by the hills!"
Edmund smiled and sat down near a round table. He watched the wizard ran to the kitchen and shot a spell to turn the stove on as he made some tea. "Thank you for your hospitality, Barnaby, I'm here to ask for your knowledgeable consultation. Perhaps we should settle first."
"Yes, yes, of course my dear King. Pardon my unreadiness, sorry." He hastily brought a tray of tea sets, but he tripped. The tea would have poured all over the floor, but the wizard spoke an incantation and it revert back to the tray. "Sorry, My King..." He quickly settled on a chair near Edmund with the tray on the table. He brewed some.
Edmund was delighted by the tea and started, "I'm not too sure if it's kind to ask, but I feel it's important. How fond are you with blood magic?"
The wizard choked on his tea and had to cough before regaining himself back. "B-blood magic? Why... Why would you need such a thing, My King? It's bad magic. Nothing good comes to it."
"Is it? Well... I found this poor sick maiden... She has a necklace around her neck. A locket. It has a miniature vial with a red liquid. I believe it's blood. I want to know if it correlates with her sickness."
The wizard looked scared. His hand trembles, so he had to put the teacup down. "If it's blood, nothing good will come to it, My King. You should take it off..."
It took him a moment of pondering. He watched the bottom of a half finished tea. "Will it have a repercussion if I take it off of her, Barnaby?" By that, he watched the wizard went to search for some books around this living room. Barnaby found one and read it quickly.
"Well... There must be a reason why a blood necklace is put. Perhaps to conceal something. But it is better to take the blood necklace away from her. Nothing good to keep it worn."
To be continued...
