Alrighty, now it's time for the Season 4 minigames. This would have to be one of the best that Mediatonic had to deliver as of then. This was when they were bought by Epic Games, but they also made a squads mode, and added in crossplay for PC and PS4. :)
Now, with all this new stuff in mind, let's see how Redd and Aaliyah are gonna fare in these minigames. Enjoy!
Another day, another set of obstacle courses in this game show. Redd and Aaliyah stick by each other, noticing the background turn a darker purple.
"Didn't season 2 also have a purple background...?" Aaliyah questioned.
"I reckon it was more lavender." Redd responded.
"Hello, hello! Welcome to the future!" I greeted.
"The future?" Redd repeated.
"Are we gonna go back in time..?" Aaliyah asked innocently.
"Not quite, Ali," I said, "We're in the year 4041. At least in the Blunderdome. We have a bunch of nighttime courses, neon lights... and much, much more new fun stuff!"
Redd and Aaliyah were already intrigued, as their eyes sparkled. Three screens displayed what awaits them in this season. One screen had a bunch of jelly beans jumping high in some blue gravity zone, the second showed them riding a hoverboard in fancy futuristic outfits, and the last one had them holding a battery as large as them, as they walk across unique glowing ground the same color as them.
"Hee hee, I like how the battery matches the size of the beans." Aaliyah giggled.
"This looks promising." Redd commented.
"You presume correctly," I corrected, "There are a good number of new minigames awaiting here in Season 4. Here, they also added crossplay for PC and PlayStation users. Not cross-platform parties, but it's progress! They're soon gonna add that on the delayed Switch and Xbox version, so it does come out with crossplay."
"That's great news!" Redd cheered.
"What kind of unique name do some of the obstacles have...?" Aaliyah asked.
"They introduced pinball flippers called 'Flippity Bippities.' That's about all, though." I simply said.
"And lemme guess the mid-season update," Redd chimed in with a smirk, "Future Yeet? Gravity Yeetus? Yeeting Space Beans?"
"Nope. It's Dave." I responded. Redd and Ali raise their eyebrows with confusion.
"I'm not even kidding. They named the mid-season update 'Dave.'" I stated as specifically as possible.
"Riiiiiight..." Redd said, shaking off the thought.
"So, we ready to play some new minigames...?" Aaliyah questioned as she felt some excitement.
"By all means, Ali, go right ahead. You two will do great out there." I assured.
"Alright! Let's go, Aaliyah!" Redd cheered. He sticks by Aaliyah's side as they super jump, getting ready to cue into their first match of the day.
Race Minigame 1: Roll On
Run across the rotating rings to reach the finish line!
Back into the looks from Season 1, it made Redd and Ali feel happy at how peaceful it looked. For the background anyway, because the course is going to be a whole different story.
Roll Out, a survival minigame... Roll Off, a final version of said survival minigame... now Roll On takes that whole concept and makes it into a race course. For old and new beans alike joining it, this seemed like it was going to be fun.
"Ooh! Reminds me of Roll Out..." Aaliyah stated.
"It is, Ali. Except now it's a race course," Redd reminded, "And you know, I'm gonna love this one. I always like the race courses, so this should be no exception."
"Veemo!" Aaliyah chirped.
3... 2... 1... GO!
And everyone is off. There were three large ramps: first one is blue, next one is yellow, and the last one is purple. And they had either a stripe pattern, or those tasty rainbow sprinkles pattern.
They started to spin, with the yellow one going right instead of left like the other two.
Redd and Aaliyah were caught off guard when they continued to run, noticing that there was a bunch of gaps and walls on parts of the rings. The main obstacle that these rings hold.
"W-Whoa!" Aaliyah makes a noise as she stumbles, but she manages to keep her balance and meet up with Redd again. There was a large blue platform that counted as a safe spot and checkpoint before the next set of rings.
There were four of them this time, and a few more gaps. As well as some donut pillars, which aren't usually seen in the other two "Roll" minigames.
"Huh. The donut pillars are here as well?" Redd questioned. Nevertheless, he continued to run along since he knew he couldn't waste any time. Beans were in front of them, after all, and these two had to qualify.
They reached the second safe platform, and the next set of rings had them moving down each one. The obstacles didn't really change, so they had to watch out.
Unfortunately for Aaliyah and Redd, some jelly beans were taking up space in the middle, and they were already near the corner, ready to fall off the map.
"R-Redd!" Aaliyah calls out, "T-This isn't good! We're sli- aaaaah!"
She and Redd scream at the same time as they plummet down below from the edge. They could see how large the rings were during their descent. And yes; it was VERY large. Much more than they thought.
The two respawn back at the latest checkpoint.
"Oh yeah, I forgot this is a race course and we don't get eliminated by falling." Redd realized. Aaliyah sighed in relief, then sticks by her red Inkling friend as they continued to navigate the race course.
After a few seconds getting through that, the two finally reach the last safe spot, in which the platform was much bigger. The rest of the rings were a nice cyan color, and they were vertical and moving towards them.
There were a bunch of gaps and space between these two vertical rings, so they had to plan this accordingly.
"Well, guess we gotta jump in order to get through this." Redd stated. He led the way as Aaliyah sticks by him, and they jump to the other ring when they noticed there was no space to continue moving forward. Several beans already qualified, but they couldn't give up there!
Upon reaching down some more, there was a pink platform moving side to side at a slow pace. But not too slow. And from there, the finish line is within a moment away. Redd and Aaliyah hop onto the platform, and run over to the finish line.
QUALIFIED!
"Phew! That was easy! We're definitely getting better at this." Redd laughed.
"Mm hmm." Aaliyah hums as she nods her head up and down.
Race Minigame 2: Skyline Stumble
Navigate the futuristic obstacles and race to the finish line!
For the futuristic look, the sky turns a dark purple, and a bunch of neon lights brighten up the best it can be. It looked beautiful. Definitely suits the futuristic look of these courses.
Redd and Aaliyah look in front of them to see one of those blue "gravity zones." One of the main pinnacles to the whole futuristic season.
"Are they really going to...?" Aaliyah whispered.
"Only one way to find out, Ali." Redd replied.
3... 2... 1... GO!
The race begins, and they quickly got over to the unique flooring. Nothing changed so far just by running, except for their hearing turning a bit muffled. Which didn't bother them at the slightest.
(This is a reference to how the music gets muffled and plays at a slower pace when you're in a gravity zone in the game.)
But when they jumped, they were higher into the air. Aaliyah was shocked, and flailed her legs as she tried to stay calm. Redd felt the same reaction, but did his best to stay cool and focus on qualifying.
They dove down to a large staircase-like platform, and landed on the top of it. There was a small spot with arrows to get out of the gravity zone... only for there to be another one on the other side.
The two weren't bothered by it, since it's just gonna take some time to get used to it.
Along with some other jelly beans, they enter the next gravity zone, and jump onto a large, but skinny platform. There were two more, each on one side, higher than the current one. And there were also some plastic planets falling down.
Redd jumps onto one platform higher than them, while Aaliyah jumps to the other one. The next base platform to continue was on the other side, so they made one last leap, and made it there.
They were finally off of the gravity zone, and enter through a ring gate, where one of the Flippity Bippities would swing left, then wait a few seconds before flinging right. It was very thick, so no one could jump over it.
So when it covered the left side, everyone had to go right, and vice versa. So Redd and Aaliyah go left since the paddle was covering the right side.
Next was an oval shaped flooring with pretty neon lights with cool colors, and four large buttons, each on one tile that's a different color. The right side had the same thing until the two paths connect at the end.
Since beans were also on the right side, they were stepping on the buttons. Turns out there was cannons on the right side, and upon the buttons being pressed, they shot out plastic stars.
The left side had cannons too, so beans on the left can retaliate back if they wanted to. Unfortunately, during this run, Aaliyah got knocked by one of the stars from the right side, and had her falling off the course.
"Aaliyah!" Redd shouted as he reaches his hand out. He stays like that for a second before he grows a determined look, running some more to qualify for his innocent Octoling friend.
There were pink beams moving up and down at the end, so he jumped over it once it was down. Next up on the safe spot, there were three platforms with a large space in between. After a few seconds, two more appear on those large spaces, and the other three retreat.
This cycle continues for the whole race. So Redd runs along one, then when he quickly saw the nearby one come in, he jumps onto that one.
Once Aaliyah got over there, she was proven to be struggling. She wasn't fast enough to keep on jumping and running through all of these platforms when some of them kept retreating before she can even blink.
Back with Redd, he was met up with three different paths, but they all connected to each other. They had forcefields to prevent them from moving forward, but there was a button on all these platforms that connect to that.
Redd steps on the button, and the forcefield moves to another place. He smiles, knowing he enjoyed how clever this was. Beans ahead would try to stop any other qualifiers behind them from reaching the end faster. But for Redd, it didn't matter.
The end of it had a striped block that would VERY slowly move around, and potentially block a path. Redd stops in place when he saw it in front, then waits for it to pass by. When it does, he saw a slime slide below moving downwards.
"Geronimo!" He yells gleefully as he runs down at insane speed thanks to the slime's direction. When he stepped down to the safe platform, there was a circular platform with six light swingers in a circle that would swing towards them, then back again.
Redd was swung all over the place, since these bars to him seem to swing in such unpredictable platforms. But some experienced jelly beans were jumping over them like no tomorrow.
"These jelly beans must be used to this..." Redd thought. He shook it off, then continues jumping along to reach the final section. The left and right had a conveyor to slow them down, and at the end of it has platforms very high from each other, but with a gravity zone to help them jump onto it.
Then there was the center part, where there were two sets of three pinball flippers on each side that would have beans step on it, then fling them up to the next one. Maybe the other side of it, if they're careful enough. They would slowly retreat back so others can also step on it.
Redd adjusts his cap, then decides to test his luck against these flippers. But some jelly beans were cluttering up some of them, so this was gonna be a lot harder than he thought.
He reached the second one, but upon trying again, he fell back down. He tried again, but failed. And again. And again...
The red Inkling looks up to the top. The finish line is straight ahead from those pinball flippers. If he tried to take the left or right path, that would only slow him down. He couldn't give up on this challenge!
"Well, it's now or never!" He exclaimed in a determined tone. He scans some beans by the yellow background with the flippers step onto the small boosting platform in the center. They jump at the right time, and some skip the second set and move onto the last one with its pretty pink background.
Redd took a deep breath, as it was gonna be a while until he can perform that, so he just decided to get to the second set covered by a green background. WHen he attempted it this time, he made it back.
Then from the second to the third set, he made it there! And with one last fling, Redd hopped onto the base platform where the finish line was just up ahead.
"Yes, yes! I did it!" Redd cheered. He then celebrates his challenge achievement by running to the finish line and earning his well-deserved qualification.
QUALIFIED!
Back with Aaliyah, she just reached the end of the slime, and was going through the light swingers. She struggled a bit, but managed to reach the end of that fiasco. Then she wound up in the same section Redd was at earlier.
"I don't think I'm gonna make it..." Aaliyah sighed as she saw some beans already qualifying. She decided to go right and take the safe path. But before she could reach the gravity zone...
ELIMINATED!
...It was too late. The number of qualifying contestants have made it, and those that didn't couldn't move on.
"Hey, Ali. You okay?" Redd asked as they were put in the results square.
"Yes. This one is gonna take some practice to get used to..." Aaliyah responded. She shows a small smile at her friend before the show pushes her off of the spot.
Race Minigame 3: Short Circuit
Navigate the obstacles and race 2 laps around the course!
The race course here didn't seem too long compared to Skyline Stumble, or any other race course for that matter. But the instructions made it clear on how this was going to be done.
"T-Two laps? This is gonna be wild..." Aaliyah commented.
"I'm sure we can still do this." Redd assured.
3... 2... 1... GO!
And the race begins. The remaining contestants meet up with their first obstacle, where they would slip through the big bouncy, purple triangles. They would squish through large square walls with neon pink lights, and push large gray platforms with three sets of cyan lines.
Some beans managed to get on top, which led to Redd and Aaliyah exchanging confused expressions. They continued forth, squeezing through another set of platforms, then run onto a conveyor that sped them up. There were two punching gloves in front of them that unleashed their strength, and another set of two on the wall on the left. This wasn't a big problem for anyone, and they passed by them, stepping onto the next conveyor.
There were two spinning rings, one on each side, and light swingers moving up and down. There were bouncy triangles to prevent any more flooring from being revealed. Aaliyah and Redd were stopped in their path since they couldn't jump quick enough, so they ran another lap around the ring before the bar moves up.
The same cycle continues for the next set of rings after the last one even though they spun the other direction, but it was no big deal. They still had plenty of time to qualify for this course.
Reaching the end of the spinning cycle, Redd and Aaliyah pass by another conveyor set and punching gloves, and move onto the next section of the course. There were three gravity zones. The center was blue, and the other two were pink, which makes their gravity heavier rather than lighter like the blue one.
Redd and Aaliyah take the center one, but then it somehow turned pink, which had the two plummet down. And they couldn't jump over the moving wall that was ahead of them. So they had to wait until it goes back down.
When it does, they noticed there was a flipper to fling them forward, and a button on each end of the zone, at a safe spot that's gravity-free. When Redd pressed it, it made the center zone up ahead turn from pink to blue.
"Ohh! That's how it was done!" Redd realize.
"It's neat they're connected to change like that.." Aaliyah commented. And for this zone, she and Redd would jump over the moving wall, ignoring any challenging obstacle that would dare cross their path.
Through the next set of conveyors, the section was wide as three light swingers horizontally push towards incoming beans, and back. The center one was going the opposite way than the left and right one.
There were also a bunch of Slingus Flinguses. Some pushed beans forward, while others pushed them back. No one knew until they tried it out for themselves.
Redd and Aaliyah ignore the Slingueses, and jump over them and the swinging beams. There was a large path with a curve, and a pretty neon rainbow in the center that led back to the finish line.
Redd continued to pass through for the second lap, while Aaliyah stopped in place. Only for a second until she realized.
"Ali, what are you doing? It's two laps!" Redd called out.
"Oh, r-right!" Aaliyah uttered. She joins up with Redd back at the starting section. There were some forcefields that stood in place before they retreat to another spot, but the section was overall still the same.
The same thing happens where they pass through conveyors, but they jump over the beams flawlessly despite the spinning rings forcing them to strategize.
The gravity zone section was no problem, as they used the buttons to their advantage, even with the fact that they're making the beans behind them slow down and have to wait around, or make them take another part of the zones.
And for the last section, they accidentally bump into more beans as they were pushed around, and step onto a Slingus Flingus. However, it flings them forward, and over the swinging beam as a bonus.
Redd gasps quietly as soon as he got up, then sticks by his Octoling friend as they reach the finish line.
QUALIFIED!
"Oh man, that was great!" Redd cheered, "I wanna do that one again!"
"I-I need to give my legs a break..." Aaliyah sighed as she sits down for a moment.
Race Minigame 4: The Slimescraper
Outrun the slime and reach the finish line!
Like the famous Slime Climb, the Slimescraper is like a returning factor to the whole "rising slime" gimmick. It seemed to be taller than Slime Climb, but the obstacles and segments looked a LOT different.
"Yes! I love Slime Climb! This one is gonna be a blast!" Redd cheers happily.
"I hope we're ready for this.." Aaliyah gulped.
"Don't worry, I'll be there to help navigate with you!" Redd assured.
3... 2... 1... GO!
Redd and Aaliyah run together, along with many jelly beans, up a small ramp and left to the first line. There were some Flippity Bippities that would slowly swing up, and then back again. The right ones swing at a different time, but it served no defeat or challenge.
They turn around for the second section, where it had the small neon platforms. The first had only one that would retreat for a second before coming back. but Redd and Aaliyah easily get to the other side.
The next two sections had four of them, with two on each side. Two platforms appear, then the top one disappears as another one appears on the right side. Then the bottom one disappears as it appears on the top section of the other side. This cycle continues, and the second part of it is at a different time compared to the previous one.
Redd took his time to jump along them, while Aaliyah was trailing behind. There was also a slime wall on the left with some small yellow donut pillars, potentially there so in case anyone falls, they can step onto the pillars as the slime kind of boosts them.
There was a large gravity zone to make their jumps higher, so Redd jumps up to the next segment while also avoiding a light swinger that was their only obstacle in the zone. Aaliyah joined in shortly after once she caught back up, which earned a smile from the red Inkling.
It was short-lived when they were on a conveyor moving left towards the slime ramp. The rising slime was going up by the moment, so they had to be fast. There was a forcefield on the right, then on the left on another conveyor moving the other way, along with a bouncy triangle in the middle. Redd just squeezes through the small path on the other side of the triangle, while Aaliyah passed through the forcefield part once it was gone.
Redd makes a small jump to the next section when he was close enough, where there was more conveyors pushing them back. There was also a small version of those conveyors where punching gloves unleash to push them away.
While Redd already made it to the other side, Aaliyah tried to join in, but yelps as one of the punching gloves push her off, and making her ride the slime ramp. Unfortunately, the slime was already high enough, in which Aaliyah fell into it.
ELIMINATED!
"Oh no, not again!" Redd cried. He quickly shook it off, remembering to avenge his friend. Jumping high and onto a neon platform thanks to another gravity zone, he stepped onto the next section of the course.
There were spinning disks with light swingers going up and down. Redd passed those easily, thanks to his practice in courses like Dizzy Heights. Not even the slime ramp on the right made him nervous.
Another large, long gravity zone held a curvy beam, where there were platforms spinning in a fan-like way. There were three parts of those, and the slime continued to rise.
Redd cheesed his way through this part by jumping over the first fan swinging obstacle, then making a leap of faith to the next section. From there, he stepped onto slime as another light swinger caught him off guard. He almost got knocked out, but he continued to push forward.
He was slowed down thanks to the slime, but he managed to just be pushed a big by the swingers. Another one almost tried to push him off, but the red Inkling kept his balance and moved forward.
The slime floor ends, and there was another curvy path with yellow donut pillars and light swingers. The walls were also smooth, and had a few Flinguses on each side as a boost.
There was then four conveyors with gasp in between them. And they were large, which was why the conveyors made them go faster. He saw some beans on top of a slime floor in the shape of a pinball machine, complete with Flippity Bippities and small platforms. They reach the finish line at the top, but Redd knew he still had a chance to qualify.
He jumps along, but at the last one, he jumps too early and falls in the gap, where the slime wall was leading him down to the rising slime.
"Oh noooooo!" He yelled out. But there was nothing he could do about it.
ELIMINATED!
"Aw man. Welp, better luck next time," Redd says, "We'll be sure to conquer that Slimescraper, just like we did with Slime Climb."
"I'll join too, Redd.." Aaliyah chimed in.
"Awesome to hear!" Redd complimented. He and Ali then gets pushed off the square, eliminating them from this round.
Survival Minigame 1: Big Shots
Avoid falling into the slime!
Everyone was on a large platform, and it can easily tilt around. There were three cannons above in front of the remaining contestants.
"Uh oh..." Aaliyah uttered.
"Let's be sure to maintain our balance here." Redd stated.
3... 2... 1... GO!
The match starts immediately, and the platform tilts a bit to the right since more beans moved to the right for safety. The cannons began shooting out planets, stars, screws, neon magnets, jacks, and video game controllers.
They would shoot these out slowly, but they were big, so everyone was cluttered up in just this one platform. They had to be careful and not get knocked out by these items. They pushed HARD.
Some jelly beans resorted to grabbing once they felt impatient, but this wasn't quite working out compared to other survival rounds.
As the round continues, beans were starting to be knocked out by these large objects. Heck, even Redd wasn't ready for this, as a Saturn managed to push him, and make him stumble and fall into the slime down below.
"Oh no! Redd!" Aaliyah cried.
QUALIFIED!
The match ended shortly after another jelly bean was eliminated after Redd's descent. Aaliyah was shocked at how quick the round progressed.
"T-That was fast..." She noticed.
"I'll say. Those objects just caught me off guard." Redd reminded. Aaliyah just stifles a giggle, then stops when Redd was knocked off of the results square.
Survival Minigame 2: Hoverboard Heroes
Avoid falling off the hoverboard and reach the finish!
The remaining contestants were on a giant hoverboard, with a pretty moving neon line pattern in the center of it. There were a bunch of obstacles ahead, with some where they would have to step off the hoverboard and back again.
"Hm... I'm not sure about this one, but it seems fun." Redd implied.
"I agree with you on that, Redd..." Aaliyah said.
3... 2... 1... GO!
One second passes, then the hoverboard takes off at a slow speed. Jelly beans were walking around since they were limited in where they can move. The first part had walls with some light swingers, but they passed that easily by jumping, or by walking underneath them when the hoverboard got close.
One part was longer, and the last part got rid of the walls and had three in one place that go down at different times. Regardless, that section proved to be easier than they thought.
As the hoverboard continues to push forward, there were cannons on the right side that would be shooting out a bunch of futuristic objects (like in Big Shots). Since everyone was all cluttered up on the hoverboard, it was quite a mess as they tried to avoid getting knocked into the slime.
"It's tough being here with all these jelly beans..." Redd grunted as he tried to find a safe, yet open spot. He and Aaliyah then had more room when a couple beans fell off of the hoverboard due to these objects shot at them.
Everyone then jumped onto a ramp leading upwards as the hoverboard began to go under it. As they all move upwards, they could go left or right and use the Flippity Bippities as platforms. That, or they can try to latch onto the center platform to see what's up there, and rely on more solid ground.
Redd grabs onto the edge of the center platform, then Aaliyah does shortly after. These two stick by some beans as they move forward on the center platform, which continued with two small conveyors: one moving left, and the other right.
There was a light swinger in the middle of it that was moving quicker than in other courses. However, Redd and Aaliyah pass by the swinger with ease, and the other jelly beans that joined them give one wave as they stick by their side.
Another light swinger was going side by side as a ramp leads downwards, covered in slime further down. Then the end of it was more solid, but still covered in slime. All the other contestants joined afterwards, since they used the Flippity Bippities as a boost to the platform.
They all stick together and move around until the hoverboard returns, still moving forward. Everyone hops on the hoverboard as its traveling continues.
The hoverboard goes by a gravity zone, and everyone jumps onto a platform high up. There was a rainbow with some icons in the middle, and the left and ride side have one platform each, but way higher up. Not to mention there was also a light bar moving up and down to push any beans wishing to qualify.
Redd and Aaliyah stick together on the left side, and hop onto the next platform while avoiding the light swinger. And they also came in contact with a stereo machine with neon yellow lines outlining it. They took one last big jump to the large center platform that connects to both that side, and the right.
Two more light swingers and a yellow donut pillar came into play, but Aaliyah passes through first, followed by Redd. Other beans began to join them in the furthest they could be.
They then waited for the hoverboard to pass by after its own trip under all those platforms, and when it came into view, everyone jumped down onto it.
Redd and Aaliyah were shocked when they saw there were WAY less jelly beans than when the match first started. The eliminated ones must've fallen down, even if they landed on the hoverboard down below, which they can't pass the platforms down below.
"W-Where did the others go?" Aaliyah asked.
"They must've been eliminated..." Redd wondered. Three more light swingers vertically fling by as the last obstacle before the last part. Since everyone here had their fair share of experience, they pass by all of the swingers, and reach the final base platform, where the hoverboard stops in place.
There were two Flippity Bippities that would help fling them over to the finish line that seemed far away.
The other jelly beans took this turn first, and easily qualified. Redd and Aaliyah look at each other and nod once, then stand on the right flinger together.
It pushes them at immense speed, and they were launched towards the finish line.
QUALIFIED!
"That was smooth! What a way to end it off!" Redd chuckled.
"There were so many that got eliminated, though..." Aaliyah said quietly.
Team Minigame 1: Power Trip
Grab batteries and color tiles to win!
The two teams, blue and yellow, had a safe spawn and had three batteries each. There were a small grid of black squares in each of the teams' spawn areas, while the rest of them were in the center area below. And there was a LOT of them. There were still ramps to get back to spawn, however.
There were also two gravity zones; one on each side, and they had ramps that were half blue and half yellow. They led up to another area that had a larger grid of black squares. There were four buttons: two of which were on one of the team's spawns, while the other two were by a small platform next to the gravity zones.
Redd and Aaliyah were on the blue team. The other jelly beans that were on the same team prepare themselves. There were six on each team, and only three batteries total.
"We're gonna need to take some batteries from the other team if we wanna win this..." Aaliyah stated.
"So, it's kind of like a Turf War, but also not. Got it." Redd says to himself.
3... 2... 1... GO!
Redd grabs one battery, while two beans grab the other two. Aaliyah decides to wander out into the field and grab other batteries from the yellow team.
Upon holding the battery, it began to glow blue. When they walked on the squares, they turned blue and have a rocket icon. The yellow team can do the same with their yellow glowing battery, but the tiles they color has a planet icon instead.
Aaliyah continues to walk around, and finds a yellow jelly bean making a yellow trail with the battery.
"Hey, w-wait!" She called out. She began to chase after the bean, but it wasn't enough for her, even though the batteries slow contestants down.
The two teams were kind of even. It was hard to tell who was even in the lead at this point. Everyone continued to color more trails. Redd was having a blast, as if he was actually in a Turf War back at Inkopolis.
A yellow bean began to grab Redd from behind to make him drop the battery.
"Hey! Back off!" Redd spat. The grab pressure from the bean kept Redd in place, and it forced him to let go and throw the battery in the air. He and the grabber began to chase after it. When Redd grabbed it, the grabbing continued. Same if the bean got it. Redd would make sure it doesn't happen.
Aaliyah lost chase of the other bean at this point, then saw three beans, two blue and one yellow holding a battery, and were fighting over it. The battery flings into the air, and Aaliyah joins in to try and catch it.
"I-I got it...!" She utters. Luckily, she manages to catch the battery, and run away to try and color more tiles. While the yellow bean tried to grab Aaliyah, her blue teammates kept him in place with their own grabs.
Redd was on the top grid getting some extra tiles for his team, while Aaliyah stayed at the base area, trying to fill in whatever yellow tiles were around. While the yellow team was preventing that. It was getting really wild from here.
After the last tiles are colored, the timer runs out.
ELIMINATED!
It was gonna be close, but now it's not. The blue team has 174 tiles covered, while the yellow team has 231.
"Aw... that seemed fun, though.." Aaliyah sighed.
"I honestly would rather prefer a Turf War over this." Redd remarked.
Team Minigame 2: Basketfall
Score points by getting balls into the other team's basket - work together to get the win!
Half of the stadium was blue, and the other half was yellow. There was a circular part in the center with both colors for each half, and has four basketballs on top of it. They were connected by one rainbow on each side leading to a part of the stadium.
Each of the parts had a small upwards ramp, two spinning disks with one on each side, then had a gravity zone at the end that had three baskets inside of it. The yellow team's had their gravity zone yellow to match their color.
Speaking of which, Redd and Aaliyah were on the yellow team for this match.
"Mm, hope I'm ready to shoot some hoops." Aaliyah said.
"I reckon it's gonna be different with how these Fall Guys can do it." Redd rambled.
3... 2... 1... GO!
Aaliyah immediately hopped onto the circle platform with others and pick up a basketball. It was funny how the ball is almost the same size as the jelly beans, which she couldn't help but giggle at.
"I'm gonna help defend!" Redd called out. Aaliyah looks over at Redd and nods, then runs over to try and get to the gravity zone and dunk the basketball in.
However, blue beans were grabbing her to stop her. She yelps as she drops the ball, and the careful battle ensues. However, Redd was preventing the same thing to happen with the blue team. No one was managing to get a quick and easy score.
Back with Aaliyah, she managed to sneak away from the blue beans with the help of her yellow teammates stopping them. She stepped into the gravity zone, makes a big jump, and dunks the basketball in one of the hoops.
One member of the blue team also reach to get a point, and they just... dunk themselves into the hoop while holding onto the basketball. They respawn back in the center, and still get the point for their team.
More basketballs began to appear once one was scored. There was even a chance that a golden basketball could appear, and give the team more points.
One by one, the score was tallying up big time. It was hard to get some defense in despite it working, but the points just kept going up. It was a wild ride in a simple game of basketball...
Redd was on offense this time, and he manages to get one of the golden basketballs. He reached the blue zone, but some blue beans began to grab him and take that golden basketball for themselves.
The ball was launched high into the air during the grab battle, and as Redd was passing by to grab another regular basketball... he noticed the gold one barely getting into one of the hoops. But that was lucky, and helped the yellow team get dozens of points.
"Booyah!" He cheered.
QUALIFIED!
Right on cue, the game ends after a long while. The yellow team has 18 points thanks to Redd's lucky help, and the blue team has 8.
"We got a golden one in, Ali! That was quite lucky, if I do say so myself." Redd explained.
"Mm hmm. But you did good, Redd.." Aaliyah complimented as she shows a small, cute smile. Redd grins back, happy to hear it from his Octoling friend.
Hunt Minigame 1: Button Bashers
Press the button that lights up to score points and defeat your rival!
There were small arenas everywhere, fit with walls all around and neon rainbows as a background. Everyone was pitted up against one other person. Redd and Aaliyah were separated, so they couldn't go against each other in this case. Redd was against a green Fall Guy wearing an alien outfit, while Aaliyah was against an orange one with a shark outfit.
The arena had six different small sections, each fit with its own button. There was also a gravity zone on top with a button on top of a large pillar.
"Welp... may the best one win." Redd said to his rival. The green jelly bean shows a thumbs up and winks.
"Good luck..." Aaliyah complimented. The orange bean waves once and shows a happy look.
3... 2... 1... GO!
One of the buttons turned yellow, and Redd and Aaliyah would race to press it, with their rival following as well to press it before them. Upon pressing the lit up button, they get one point, and another one brightens up.
Upon pressing a button, no matter if it's lit up or not, something happens in the field. Four of the seven buttons have fans, and pressing one of them would turn that fan on or off. The other two down below would activate or de-activate a neon platform to the top pillar, while the one on said pillar will turn the gravity zone from blue to pink, or the opposite.
Redd and his rival bean were having a close match with each other. Aaliyah was struggling to keep up, so she was waiting around till she finds a button closest to her after her rival presses one.
While that worked, she still moves around just in case she might accidentally give her rival too many points. Redd and his rival were still in their close match. But that was turning out to give Redd a BIG lead, as he was using the fans and platforms to his advantage.
The match was still going on, as many buttons were pressed. Even when not focusing on Aaliyah or Redd. But Redd was already in a huge lead, while his rival was impressed on how he's getting through this so quickly. And Aaliyah was on a close match with her rival.
When the timer was almost over, Redd finally stops, as he felt satisfied enough. There was no way that the green jelly bean would keep up with him at this rate.
"I guess we're done here." Redd whispered to himself. After a few more seconds pass by, the timer ends.
QUALIFY!
ELIMINATED!
...
Overall, Aaliyah still lost the match, while Redd qualified.
"I, uh... this one might not be my style..." Aaliyah said to her Inkling friend.
"We all have our least favorite courses. I'd still prefer doing this one, but that's just me." Redd explained.
"I understand. We all have our opinions." Aaliyah replied kindly as she nods. She and Redd smile at each other, then the former was pushed off with all the other losing beans, so they have to spectate or wait for the next match for them to que in to.
A/N: And that's all for Season 4! Man, that sure was awesome! :D
So, this story will be on break until Mediatonic announces the mid-season update for Season 5. Then I'll write for all the Season 5 minigames. They already did add something new, but that's just an extra called 5.1 (or 5 point fun, as they call it. (Can't write just the dot, else it erases the word; oof) It's confirmed it's not the mid-season update just yet.
Anyways, Stay Fresh, guys! I'll see you next time for more! ;)
