After Demitri took Livia, the townspeople were split in their opinions. Some saw Donovan as an ally and others thought it was better to serve Demitri and expel the hunter. Anyway, Donovan put Anita on his shoulder as he ignored the people insisting for him to stay, and walked towards the castle. He felt guilty. He let his guard down and got involved with Livia, causing her to love him. He should know better he could not have love.
Sat next to an oak tree, Donovan and Anita remained silent. Demitri was unstoppable. The only chance they had to defeat him was using Donovan's demon side, but at what cost? The hunter and the girl looked at the castle while the sky bled the colors of the sunset. They wondered if Livia was still alive or if they would need to kill her.
Livia got into a room and locked the door. She carefully removed an envelope of her pocket. A letter from her father, written on the eve of his death. Livia never dared to open it, but now she didn't know if she was going to live or not. She read it while her heart pounded. When she finished, she kissed the letter dearly and burned it down on a candle. No one could know its content.
She opened a window. She couldn't escape because the castle was too high. What's the use of being a fairy descendant if she couldn't fly? Livia looked at the birds and suddenly remembered a trick she had learned with the gypsies.
Donovan and Anita were getting ready for their next battle, when out of the blue one impatient bird surprised them. Anita noticed a piece of fabric around its leg. Carefully she picked the bird up and uncoiled the fabric. She found a message and read it aloud.
"We can defeat him. Trust me, don't try to stop me."
That was Livia's handwriting. Donovan didn't know if he felt happy for she was still alive, or more worried than before for she was up to something.
It was finally dark and Demitri was sat on his throne, enjoying a wine glass. As his powers were on their peak, there was no reason to worry about Donovan or Anita. Livia couldn't remain locked forever, sooner or later she would be useful to him as a lover or a pet.
The conquering of the Makai realm was just a matter of time.
The time, always making him stronger, sharper, and more seductive… The last descendant of the Zanas had arrived. Her dark hair in an elegant hairstyle, she had washed the smell of the hunter from her slim body, now dressed in a glamorous lilac gown. She curtsied respectfully.
"I borrowed this, hope you don't mind." She smiled while she approached.
"Everything can be yours if you want." He stared at her.
"Everything?" She got closer to him and took a sip of his glass, provocative. He cleaned a drop from her lips.
"What do you think of the project?"
"Intriguing and ambitious. I never imagined my family could change genes like this," she folded her arms. "I feel betrayed. They hid it from me and kept all the best."
"The best is yet to come, Livia," Demitri touched her hair and chin softly. "Together we can achieve so much… even conquer and rule together."
"You don't seem the kind of man who shares." She tried to sound friendly but deep inside she hated to be that close to him.
"I am not, but if you prove your worth, I can even allow you to be my regent on Earth while I rule the Makai."
"That would be generous."
"I can be very generous," He handed her a beautiful red rose and pulled her closer.
Livia held his chest trying to stop him however, he was an appealing man and she was feeling light-headed. The way he touched her and talked to her was what Livia craved all that time.
"Come here, baby" he whispered as he held her face just a kiss, and her resistance would fall apart…
Suddenly a window blasted and shattered glass was spread as Donovan and Anita invaded the castle. The hunter saw Livia's blushed cheeks and was relieved – She was still human. Livia smiled when she saw them.
"Let her go, damned vampire!" Donovan demanded.
Demitri remained still, looking at Livia.
"You were so kind in inviting him, darling. It saves me from the nuisance of going after him," Demitri faced Donovan "Don't you get tired of losing?"
"I came to destroy you."
Demitri laughed, showing his huge fangs.
"Come on, you can get another girlfriend. I have no pleasure in killing a fellow."
"I'm not like you! I won't give in to the darkness and I won't allow you to hurt anyone else."
Donovan summoned the fire spirit Ifrit and attacked Demitri, causing a huge explosion. Livia grabbed Anita and hid behind a pillar while everything was on fire. Demitri got up staggering, he put out the fire from his clothes and flew to Donovan, hitting him with his bare hands. The hunter was thrown across the room, he fell on some furniture.
"The only thing more predictable than you is my victory!" The vampire hissed.
His next attack was blocked by a magic shield. Livia had remembered some magic and tried to help at the distance. Demitri cast fireballs at it, but the flames hit the shield and hit him back. Furious, he struck the barrier until he broke it. Donovan bought some time. He ran on the wall and in a somersault, he plunged his sword on Demitri's shoulder, who fell on his knees. The sword spun and split Demitri. He shrieked with pain.
Demitri got up and regenerated himself while he ducked of Donovan's strikes. Then, at a supernatural speed, he hit Donovan and pierced his chest. The Hunter fell as blood poured from his body. Anita screamed his name and was ready to attack when Livia stopped her.
"Wait, let me go first." She caressed her face and ran towards Donovan. She hated to see he wounded like that, but she couldn't help him yet.
"Trust me." She whispered.
"Livia… don't…" He tried to tell her to stop whatever she was trying to do and run away, but he couldn't.
"I'll fix that, I promise," She held back her tears.
"Fix what? Your taste for man?" Demitri said.
"Yes..." Livia walked towards him "You are the most powerful being I've ever seen. I… I'll serve you from now on. There's no bigger mission for me."
"I'll make you mine then."
Demitri was proud. Despite being a vampire, he was as conceited as a human. He grabbed Livia and turned to Donovan. The vampire hunter crawled to them, leaving a blood track.
"Livia, please, don't…" He begged.
Livia wept in silence. Demitri turned into his demon form, a dark demon bigger than he already was and bit Livia. She screamed in pain before passing out on his arms. Demitri dropped her, enraptured by her blood.
Anita saw everything. The little girl felt Donovan was dying and that she could not beat Demitri. She dropped her doll and fell on her knees, crying her eyes out. There was nothing she could do. Donovan faced her with some bittersweet proud, at least she had released her feelings. He told her to run and fell still. His human half was gone.
