Light filtered through the small cracks in the windows as the sun slowly rose and replaced the moon in the sky. Birds began to chirp signaling the start of a new day. The people of Tokyo got up and quietly went about their chores.

As summer approached, the refreshing spring breeze was replaced by the humid air that summer brought.

Karuizawa Kei stirred and tried to get into a comfortable position, only to frown as the arms around her waist tightened, pulling her closer. A soft growl escaped her lips and her eyes opened, revealing a pair of sleepy amethyst eyes.

Those eyes blinked at the man sleeping soundly beside her.

The remnants of sleep in her body flushed as the soft rays of the sun touched his face, highlighting his sharp yet handsome features. But the man didn't even move, instead burying his face further into the crook of her neck, his lips lightly brushing against her bare skin.

Kei smiled softly and then shivered as his warm breath caressed her neck. Her heart began to beat erratically as she lovingly watched the man she had loved since she was fifteen years old in her arms.

He seemed so peaceful and Kei stopped the urge to squeeze tighter to him. To feel him more, his warmth, his heartbeat. She could feel her face start to burn. All those years of being married to him and his influence on her kept turning her into a high school girl in love, especially with moments like this.

The blonde sighed, stirred a little and then reached up a hand to push aside a few strands of brown hair that clung to his forehead, burying her fingers in his soft hair as she tugged and twirled his locks with her fingers.

Kei was rewarded with a sigh of contentment that made her heart leap. She continued his ministrations, alternating between untangling the knots formed during the night and massaging his scalp.

Lost in her thoughts and the feeling of his hair, Kei did not notice a pair of brown eyes watching her under the lashes.

Kei snapped out of her thoughts when a pair of warm, soft lips pressed along her jaw, trailing chaste kisses towards her lips. She responded eagerly as soon as his lips touched hers. Her grip on his hair tightened slightly before she slowly pulled away.

She smiled and withdrew her fingers from his hair to trace his jaw lightly.

"Good morning, Kiyotaka."

"Good morning, Kei."

Yes, it was moments like this that she cherished the most.
