We've been walking for a while and then I heard Devon saying that he's getting hungry. Well I think I am getting hungry myself. Then Garret said, "This is where we'll stop." Kayley and I asked, "Stop?" I asked him, "Are you sure?" Garret told me that he is.
Kayley then asked him, "What about Excalibur?" That reminded me. The sword. Garret said, "No one travels through the Forbidden Forest after dark." I then said, "Well who knows what is out there. Besides traveling at night can be dangerous."
Kayley then said something that shocked Garret, "Well, my father Sir Lionel would have." I then added, "My great aunt Sarah would have too. She told me stories about Sir Lionel too." When I mentioned my great aunt, Garret looked surprised.
Garret then said to Kayley, "Kayley, I must tell you. I knew your father." This surprised us and we asked him, "You did?" Garret then told us his story, "I was a stable boy, but I dreamt of becoming a knight." I got surprised at this.
I then asked him, "So you weren't born blind?" Garret looked at me and he said before continuing the story, "No Emma, I wasn't. One evening, there was a fire. I rushed to save all the horses but, well…I was hurt. But first, all I can was shapes, then shadows. And finally, my world went black. After I lost my sight, your father was the only one who still believed in me. He told me, that a knight's strength, comes from a heart, with his loyalty, to the oath of Camelot."
I get it, this is the story of how he got blind. It all make senses now. Garret then finished his story by saying, "Any hope I had of becoming a knight, died with him." Kayley then felt sorry and she said to him, "I felt that way too, but I knew he wouldn't want me to give up. He wouldn't want you to give up either. You are good as any other knight in Camelot."
I added, "She's right, you can be a brave knight no matter what. He would've want you to keep on trying." Garret looked at us and asked, "You really think so?" Kayley gave him an assuring smile and I said, "Yes I know so."
Then while we finished up making camp, I started to get curious about Ayden. Kayley looked at me and she asked, "Emma, what's with you?"
I looked at her and said that I am curious about the bird. We then asked Garret while he laid leaves down to make a bed, "And how did you find Ayden?" Garret then told us that he didn't. He explained, "When I came to live here, Ayden found me. He just appeared one day, as if destiny is watching over me. He taught me all the secrets of the forest. What can hurt you, and what can heal you." He then said that with the falcon's help, he can face his fears.
He showed us what he can do and he outwitted a plant. He then said to me and Kayley, "See? Simple, now you try Emma." He handed me his staff and I said, "Ok, I'll give it a go."
I held my ground till the possible moment to evade, with the falcon's signal, I outwitted the plant. Both Garret and Kayley were impressed. Then it was Kayley's turn. She did try her best.
Then the two headed dragon came back and asked for some fire help. Then after the fire was made, we settled down. Garret then said, "Now we should focus. If what Emma said was true on how she got here, it was a portal opening up."
That caught Kayley's attention and she said, "Wait, a portal opening up? The only thing that I know is that only the two of us would have to help her mostly." Cornwall asked, "What are you talking about?" Kayley then said, "It's the mystery of the seven honorary female knights of King Arthur who are explorers. They have two different portals, one for entering and the other for leaving. One of them was about to become very old, without her, the others grew apart."
Garret then said, "It's simple, you and I would have to help her. It might be hard, but we can do it." I then said with a sad look, "Or I may never get home."
I had my head down before we settled down for the night. I hope that I'll find a way to get home.
