AN: welcome one and all to chapter 2 of demigod hunters hope you enjoyed chapter 1 once again no matter how much I wish I could say I was Rick Riordan and owned rooster teeth I'm not and I don't in any way.
Once the unlikely team had arrived at their destination Annabeth immediately took charge which the others were fine with as none of them really had a plan
"ok so, we need to find out where the nearest town is because right now we are in the middle of the forest in a place we don't know with only emergency rations and medical supplies" Annabeth stated
"Well we also have my backpack I can use it to summon any instrument, and Harry's tool belt that Leo gave him and we all know what that can do" Disco said nervously
"oh yes I almost forgot what a great help that is what are you cooking up for us tonight smoked drum with a side of nails" Annabeth said sarcastically
"Sorry stupid idea I just thought it might help" Disco responded
"The five of us have to work together if we start fighting we are going to get nowhere but fast" Harry said
"Did my mothers blessing not work on you there's only four of us" Annabeth said
"No I can count, there's me, you, Disco, Nico and mini Festus" Harry pointed out smugly
"Ugh fine send out mini Festus to go find out where we are" Annabeth said defeated
Harry nodded as he fitted a camera to mini Festus's back that sent a live feed to a screen that Harry gave to Annabeth as it allowed her to communicate with mini Festus. Before sending it off however, Annabeth wanted to built a shelter so that they were more protected should anything happen, so they did Harry produced some tarp and metal from his tool belt and set to work using mini Festus as a heat source, as Disco and Nico went to find some wood
After 10 minutes they had a very unstable looking shelter, however, Annabeth assured them that it was fine and as she was the architect the others believed it. Inside they had a sort of command centre set up for Annabeth so that she could easily monitor mini Festus on its journey the others were all standing guard waiting for monsters to attack. This happened just as they were about to send off mini Festus. A scorpion like monster that was the size of a car scuttled forward towards Nico who drew his sword and summoned an undead army that went straight in with no hesitation however, they were swiftly knocked aside Nico managed to block the first pincer that came towards him with his shield and the second with his sword, surprisingly the usually frail boy was able to keep the pincers at bay, probably thanks to the blessing of Ares. Harry and Disco used the opportunity to attack the tail that was about to come down on Nico, Harry struck first pushing the tail back with a ball of fire before Disco extended the axe blades on his ukulele and sliced of the tip of the tail, the monster threw Nico aside and swatted disco aside with its tail, Annabeth monitoring Festus who had gone off Harry was left to fight alone. Defiantly he cracked his knuckles and neck drew his trusty hammer and yelled:
"lets do this you oversized bug" and lit his entire body on fire and shot towards the monster colliding his hammer with the face of his enemy igniting it briefly however what ever armour it had was to tough for it to kill but this didn't faze Harry driven by the rage at not seeing camp or his friends again his flames grew hotter scorching the ground and beginning to hover, some how, Harry quite literally flew toward the beast grabbed it by the tail and did a flip midair with slamming it into the ground on it back before coming down full force on the unprotected underside of the creature he then extinguished him self and stood there as his vanquished foe began to dissolve.
"Your smoking" Annabeth said.
"Keep it in your pants Chase, I thought you liked Percy" Harry said sniggering.
"What the fuck, no, just no ew" Annabeth said "you are literally smoking, look" Annabeth grabbed a shiny piece of metal and showed Harry his reflection and sure enough he was smoking "at least your clothes aren't damage, that would have been worse, having to see you naked"
"I'm not stupid Annabeth me and Leo both had our clothes specially made to be fully flame proof" Harry said boasting before going and checking on how mini Festus was doing.
However, before long another monster attacked this one went down with one slash of Nico's sword though. there were many more attacks like this it would seem the forest they were in was teaming with monsters but not very powerful ones, whilst some looked like a challenge having massive bodies and bone spikes covering that back they all only needed one blow and went down, when finally 30 minutes or so later they noticed something on the Festus-cam what looked to be a city, so they packed everything up recalled mini Festus and made they way to there.
Festus was flying around enjoying the space, Disco was keeping the mood up playing his ukulele with songs that didn't quite fit what was happening around him, such as playing 'I want it that way' whilst Harry shot fire balls at monsters or 'hooked on a feeling' as Annabeth used her knife to slice open a creature or 'don't worry be happy' as Nico decapitated a beast. They continue on like this for a while walking in silence
, apart from the upbeat songs that Disco was playing, when it was finally broken when Nico spoke up,
"Hey guys I was thinking when we get to the city we shouldn't use are powers and we should hide our weapons, since Hecate said there is no longer any gods here that might mean there isn't any mist and we don't want to get in trouble. Obviously Disco wouldn't have to worry to much as his weapon is easily concealed and Harry has his tool belt to put his hammer on, but me and Annabeth are going to have to put them some where."
"I can out them in my backpack, it functions the same as Harry's tool belt apart from it can only summon instruments and anything I put in it" suggested Disco.
"Ok let's do it now we are getting close" Annabeth said.
Once they had stopped Nico took his sword off hesitantly and placed in Discos back pack, after Annabeth did they same they set off again.
"Hey so what are doing about mini Festus" Harry asked nervously
"I'm not sure to be honest" Annabeth said "is there a way you can summon him or something like that"
"Not yet but I can make some upgrades" Harry set excitedly, his excitement was cut short, however when a pack of wolf like creatures emerged from the under growth circling them, Nico summoned an undead army to hold them off as Disco gave him and Annabeth their weapons.
"Maybe we are further than I thought" Annabeth said confused
Disco made the first move taking a guitar began playing 'sweet child o' mine' flawlessly using his powers to amplify the sound disorientating their assailants but not his team mates who were then able to massacre the confused creatures.
After what felt like 20 or so minutes they reached the city. All there gear had been stored away in Discos bag and now they looked like an average group of teenagers. The group wandered around the city they now new was called vale until they found a library which Annabeth suggested they check out as they might be able to find out more about this world so they can survive better, they learned that what had attacked them were called grimm and that there were schools to train people to hunt them down theses were known as the huntsmen academies and there were 4 one in each major city, there were also combat schools usually attended to get into one of the huntsmen academies but not a necessary step, learning this they realised that they should try to get in that way they would have a reason to carry weapons around and it would also give them somewhere to stay they also learned more of the history of this world known as remnant.
After spending a few hours in the library learning the customs of remnant they decided to go toward a massive tower on the horizon that was supposedly beacon tower which was where one of the huntsman academies was. On the way they decided on a cover story not wanting to reveal too much just yet in case people thought they were mad, they decided that they lived in a small village that trained them to fight but had to be sent away when it was overwhelmed by grimm and being a small village they made use of what they had to explain the bronze weapons and armour they had.
Finally they got to their destination of beacon tower deciding to take out there weapons in case one of the huntsmen in training thought they were a threat although the place seemed empty, they went in to find somebody, the first person the saw was an old man with scruffy hair, green clothes and a walking cane with an ornate handle, his eyes similar to Chiron's they seemed full of knowledge and experience and loss and an age older than he seemed to be, when he noticed them he swilled the coffee in his hand and approached the group that had entered carrying weapons
"Hello there" he said sagely "I'm afraid that if you're here for the school year it is yet to begin"
"Oh we were actually wondering how we get into the school" Annabeth responded "we heard about it in the city and thought we would come check it out"
"Is that so" the man said "and where may I ask did you come from"
"a small village at the edge of the Vacuo dessert" Harry answered "they trained us to fight but it was overwhelmed so we were forced by our elders to leave they put us on horse back and sent us towards Vale, the horses however were stolen by bandits who attacked us on our way here we barley got away with what we have"
"I'm sorry to hear that, my name is professor Ozpin, headmaster of beacon academy, if you pass a test I will grant you admission to my school, but first what are your names"
"My name is Harry Fabbro"
"I'm Nico di Angelo"
"I'm Disco Richardson"
"And I'm Annabeth Chase"
"It's a pleasure to meet you all, take some lien and a scroll each so we can keep in touch, go get some food, maybe some new clothes and a place rest we still have a few weeks before school begins, you will take the test individually" Ozpin said before pulling out some lien and handing it to Annabeth, then handing each a weird almost rectangular object and once they pressed a diamond in the middle expanded the two white part now with a holographic screen in-between
"Thank you" Annabeth said
"I will expect you here at midday tomorrow" Ozpin said
The group nodded and exited heading back to the city to get some food and find a hotel to stay at.
Once they had got a room and assigned beds Harry began to tinker with mini Festus implementing a tracking device and camera lenses in each eye that were all connected to his new scroll, the group spent the rest of the evening lounging around trying on their new clothes, messing with their new scrolls. After a while Annabeth told them to get some sleep and turned of the lights.
The next day
After the all woke up and were dressed they went down to the hotel restaurant for breakfast, they chatted as they enjoyed the meal talking about what the test might be before they got a text from Ozpin telling them to come with there combat gear, so they did.
When they got to the school at midday Ozpin was stood waiting "good to see you all again, if you would please follow me to the location of your test, Harry your first"
"Ok, professor" Harry said
They walked for a few minutes in silence before Ozpin spoke
"Please go in here" Ozpin said gesturing toward a door "this is where you combat exam will be feel free to use your aura and semblance"
"What now" Harry said confused he had never heard of aura or semblance
"Do you know what aura and semblance is" Ozpin said
"Not in the slightest" Harry said
"Well your aura is a projection of your soul and can protect you from attacks" Ozpin said
"Ok so it like armour which as you can see I have on" Harry said gesturing to the armour he had on
"Yes in a way, and your semblance is a power unique to you whilst some are similar none are exactly the same, some are hereditary and some reflect your personality, sometimes it takes longer for people to realise their semblance"
"Ah ok" Harry said
Ozpin then one by one unlocked their aura
"Now that you all have your aura, Harry go on through" Ozpin said as Harry entered the room
Harry pulled out his hammer, brushed off his armour and walked to the centre of the coliseum like room as the doorway he entered through slammed shut. One by one the gates surrounding the coliseum opened releasing beowolf and ursa as the grimm flooded in Harry's shield spiralled out,
"Time to totally kick ass" he said
luckily the grimm weren't to smart and he could block with his shield or use it to sent the grimm into each other or just smack them with his hammer, he swirled, punched, smashed, slammed and bludgeoned but the grimm kept coming, Harry had flash backs to camp and once again ignited himself in anger and rage he sent a wave a flames incinerating the surrounding grimm, he began to launch fire balls, he slammed a flaming shield into the face of a huge alpha ursa that was covered in huge bone spikes it would seem the fire was giving him a power boost which he didn't realise he could do perhaps that was his semblance that didn't matter though he had grimm to slaughter, he boosted his flames and began to fly once more throwing grimm slamming hammer onto there had until finally there was one left he was tired but that didn't stop him he flew as fast as could then began spinning and collided with the biggest ursa he had seen easily the size of a big car but it still was easily taken out, once Harry extinguished himself he stood exhausted in the middle of the room smoke billowing off his skin
"ARE YOU NOT AMUSED!" he shouted as the gates opened again only for Ozpin to emerge
"Yes I am that was a spectacle to say the least I think we figured out your semblance young man, and it is quite extraordinary, gaining a boost in power from fire and being able to make fire from thin air" Ozpin said in amazement
"Thanks" Harry said
"Let's get back to the other shall we" Ozpin suggested
Once they were back with the others Ozpin chose Disco to go next, and once he entered he got the same treatment as Harry. Disco saw the hordes of grimm pouncing towards him and backed pulling out his trusty ukulele he started to play, his song of choice was 'staying alive' and as he played he amplified the sound pushing back the grimm back against the wall the ones right at were crushed by their allies, once he was finished playing the full song there were still some grimm left so he switched his ukulele to axe mode and began cutting down beowolfs and ursai left, right and centre however one ursa managed to sneak up on him and swatted him aside causing him to hit the wall, he staggered up and shot a beam of light from his balm so bright it left the grim dazed, which gave him chance to hack the survivors to pieces. After all the grimm were dispatched he strummed his ukulele and slid forward on his knees tilting his head back as he did so and staying their panting till Ozpin emerged and informed Disco he did well and told him to go back to the others.
Now it was Nico's turn and once again after entry he was swarmed. Stepping back he summoned a skeletal army, pushing back the monsters before running round slicing up the grimm using the blessing of Ares and with his skeletal army guarding his back he was free to go full offensive using trick he leaned off of Percy and Jason becoming a whirlwind of death cutting through the waves of grimm like they were made of butter and soon enough he had annihilated all the grimm, although exhausted Nico triumphantly stabbed the ground and stared off into the top corner of the room straightened him self up and existed at Ozpins request
Finally Annabeth stepped up to face the horde. She drew her Knife and began slicing up Grimm but soon started to get overwhelmed; her shield spiralled out just in time to block an attack from a beowolf she used her agility to dodge and weave, but it was just barely enough as she struggled in her fight she had a moment off wisdom and ran away backing up against the wall she began to get worried how was she supposed to do this, had the others done the same thing. 'No' she thought 'I can do this I'm Annabeth Chase I helped design the new building on Mount Olympus' after she finished her thought she realised the grimm were now practically on top of her and with a yelp became invisible, confused the grimm spread out wandering what had happened to their next meal and began to sniff around but no avail, Annabeth took this as an opportunity to massacre them, sneaking up behind them and plunging her knife into their back and once the others noticed and scrambled over to try and grab their invisible foe she simply sprinted off, she repeated this until a grimm got lucky and managed to land a hit causing her to become visible once more and she was forced to slice through the tsunami of monsters with her knife, although she struggled she finally had vanquished her enemies and stood triumphantly in the centre of the room her legs apart and one hand in the air. Ozpin sniggered and told her to return to the others.
Once they were all back together Ozpin started.
"all of you did exceptionally well, normally potential students get to scared to fight or run out of aura before the fight is over, then the teachers would have to step in and kill the grimm before any one was badly hurt, however you four are the only ones who managed to kill all the grimm and add in some funny lines or poses. Obviously you are all admitted to beacon here is some more lien this should last you till the start of term, but if you need anything don't be afraid to ask."
"Will do sir" Annabeth said as she led the group away
AN: if any of you were wondering I decided that Annabeth's semblance should invisibility because I couldn't think of any other ideas that still worked so I decided that she can turn invisible because of her having the cap that made he invisible but it stopped working in mark of Athena, thanks for reading please leave a review I hope you all enjoyed.
