Chapter 1: This Is His Family
Peter was torn. Over a year ago, he had made a choice he regretted, and it had been fueled by jealousy. He didn't think that he was as important to his friends, as they were towards each other. But tonight, he was forcefully reminded who they were to him. He remembered what they all meant to him and each other. He was saddened that it took a little toddling girl to remind him. Allison Rose Potter. His Goddaughter. She had gotten so excited when she saw him, almost leaping from her father's arms to reach him.
It had made him smile as he took her into his arms, holding her close. This little girl was the apple of his eye. Overcome with guilt, he decided to come clean with his friends. No, his family.
"Lily, will you take the twins out of the room? What I am about to tell you, will make you so angry that you will probably curse me or throw me out. I do not want the twins seeing that," he explained.
"What is it?" James asked as his wife left the room with their children.
"I am the spy. HE used my jealousy and my insecurities against me. I'm ashamed to say that it didn't take much. I had forgotten that we are family and that it never mattered who I was or how powerful I am. You guys excepted me for who I am, and I now realize that I have always had a place with you," he said watching as their faces went white, then red, now they looked calm but Peter wasn't kidding himself, he knew that they were pissed.
"Did you kill anyone?" Sirius asked.
"No. I don't have the Dark Mark either. All that was required of me was selling you out. But I can't. Allison. Little Ally, reminded me that I was loved and wanted, even after I lost sight of that. You guys are my family. I'm not selling you out. I haven't told HIM where you are. I was supposed to, tonight. You need to change Secret Keepers again. Now," Peter said and was at the moment that he saw that they forgave him.
"We will talk about this more, later," James said as he stood up just as Lily entered the room and they could tell by the look on her face that she had heard every word.
"I'll be our Secret Keeper," she said trying not to lose her temper.
"I'm so sorry," he muttered before jumping when a baby appeared in his arms. He had forgotten that Ally could teleport. Thankfully, it hasn't grown so they don't have to worry about her disappearing.
"Petey sad?" she said gripping his face in her hands. He wasn't surprised that she knew how he was feeling. The godparent and godchild bond was a magical bond.
"A little sweetie," he said holding her close. James, Lily, and Sirius were watching them, watching Peter with Ally, and decided to give him a second chance. Ally could feel his intentions, and they knew that she wouldn't have trusted him if she felt anything bad.
"We have to come up with a plan. I don't care what the prophecy says. No child should have to kill that monster. Especially, Harry, Ally, and Neville," Sirius said.
"Nevy," Ally peered around looking for him. The adults couldn't help but smile.
"When she's a teenager, she isn't allowed to date," James said not liking that his little girl would grow up someday. Peter agreed.
For the rest of the night, they worked on a plan to lure Voldemort out in the open. Sirius had a suspicion on why that monster couldn't be killed, but until he had proof, he wouldn't say anything.
