Summary: Heiress Helena Jamie Carina Potter Black decides it's time to stand up for herself and stop letting everyone control her life...Sirius doesn't die and he along with Helena and Remus declares neutrality.
A/N: I never liked Harry being weak and spineless in the books and movies where his friends, their families, and the Order were concerned. So, this is my take on Harry if he was a girl with a backbone. NO HORCRUXES! Voldemort is sane and looks like Tom Riddle in his forties. Also, the Malfoy's will be suing everyone who's made a profit by writing about Helena and her parents. They will also be suing everyone who's made merchandise in Helena's image without her consent.
Chapter 1: Gringotts and The Malfoy Family
Helena Jamie Potter was a very angry young witch. She hated the people who have controlled her life from the time her parents were murdered. Granted, it was wartime so casualties were to be expected but it didn't make it hurt any less to grow up an orphan. It was even worse due to having to grow up in an abusive home.
Helena didn't understand why everyone expected her to be angry about her parents' deaths when she didn't even know them. Sure she loved them and she was positive they loved her just as much due to them dying for her but that didn't mean she wanted to kill or hurt the person who did it. It was a time of kill or be killed. But she did hold Peter Pettigrew responsible. He chose to give them up to save his own skin.
Anyway, Helena was on her way to Gringotts due to wanting a way out of the hell hole she was forced to live in. Even if there's not, she was going to make sure Vernon and Dudley couldn't hurt her anymore. The only thing she was thankful for was they never sexually touched her. She probably would've killed them if they even tried.
When she entered the bank she was escorted to her account manager's office right away due to being highly recognizable due to being famous for surviving the night her family was ripped apart.
"I would like a lineage test, please," she requested as she sat down.
"Of course," Gornuk stated as he got a dagger and parchment explaining what she needed to do.
"Oh, Merlin! I never knew about this," Helena whispered stunned after reading through the results of her lineage test. She could have at least bought her own clothes and food so she wouldn't have starved in the summer holidays when school let out.
She felt so robbed of her abilities and her life. She could have had a better life growing up and she wouldn't have felt so incomplete. She knew what happened when someone's magical abilities were blocked. It stunted magical maturity if the blocks weren't removed by their sixteenth birthday.
"How can a soulbond be blocked?" she asked trying not to cry. She felt horrible for the way she's treated Draco over the years. She now knew why Draco acted the way he does every school year. She would've acted the same way if she thought for one second that she was being rejected by her soulmate.
"I don't know what to tell you but if anyone had the power to block a soulbond it's Albus Dumbledore," he answered gruffly. There were not many people or creatures that liked or respected the Headmaster.
"Would you please take the blocks off?" Helena asked.
"Yes but we'll have to do it in a time-delayed dome because we'll have to train you so you won't use overpowered spells in school and hurt someone by mistake," he explained as he leads her into a room with other goblins and curse-breakers.
"No problem," Helena said smiling. She loved the thought of being able to control her magic.
They spent four months under the time dome when it was four weeks outside the dome. Helena felt amazing. They reversed the malnutrition she suffered from her relatives and she grew three inches. She was five foot three, now she's five foot six.
The goblins had to get a leech off the scar she got the night her parents were killed. It had been feeding off her magic since that night. Helena now could control her emotions and magic. It was amazing.
After she collected her parent's journals and pictures, she got a credit card keyed to her blood that worked in both the wizarding world and muggle world.
"Would you please send a letter to the Malfoy's requesting them to come and hear me out," Helena requested. She really hoped she didn't blow her chances of being with Draco. She's always felt a connection to him even with the soulbond being blocked.
When the Malfoy's arrived she could tell they were stunned to see her but they also looked upset and she couldn't blame them even if it wasn't her fault.
"Before you say anything, please read these results," Helena said handing her lineage results.
"Oh, Merlin," Narcissa breathed stunned. She couldn't believe someone would do this to a witch or wizard but she knew Dumbledore was a controlling, manipulative, and deceitful wizard.
"I'm sorry for the way I treated you Draco. If I had known, I would've never treated you like you were a death eater. I just hated how you treated my friends and made a mockery of my mother. I wasn't going to let anyone badmouth my mother or father. They died for me," Helena explained.
"I guess I deserved some of it. I didn't know you had no idea about our soul bond. Please, forgive me," Draco said as he took her hand feeling the bond between them for the first time.
"I will if you forgive me," she said gently squeezing his hand.
"I do," he said smiling. It was the first time Helena had seen a real smile from Draco and it made him look more handsome.
"I'm also sorry. I'm sorry I tried to kill you and I'm sorry for what happened in the graveyard," Lucius said frowning. He never knew what had been done to his future daughter-in-law.
"I'll forgive you if you tell Voldemort I'll remain neutral," Helena stated firmly.
"Done. But why? He killed your parents," he asked stunned.
"It was war. Casualties are bound to happen. You can't stop every kill in the middle of a war. It was kill or be killed. I'll swear a vow never to come after him or his Death Eaters if he swears a vow in return never to come or send anyone after me or my chosen loved ones," she explained.
"I'll let him know," Lucius stated stunned.
"I've got shopping to do so I'll see you later. Would you write to me?" Helena asked Draco as she placed her lineage results in her bag.
"Of course," he said smiling as he kissed her cheek before she left. He smiled, even more, when he saw her blush. He loved the effect he had on her, he always has. He loved getting reactions from her even if they were angry ones.
"I'll see you later," she said as she exited the room.
A/N: A massive blowout coming in the next chapter! The trial will still happen, but it'll be different. Helena was never tortured by Voldemort or his Death Eaters.
Chapter 2: Shopping and Grimmauld Place
Helena was excited to finally be able to get everything she wanted and needed without someone guarding her twenty-four hours a day. She thought she deserved some freedom after everything she's been through. She's more than earned it.
Her first stop was the trunk shop because she didn't want to be carrying a lot of bags everywhere.
When she entered the shop, she requested a seven compartment trunk. Four were basic compartments, while the fifth was a dueling room, the sixth a library with an unlimited extension charm on the shelves for unlimited books. Lastly, the seventh compartment was an apartment, so she finally had the escape she needed from the Dursley family. It was just too bad she couldn't disown Petunia.
The amazing thing about the apartment has an enchantment that lets the client choose the colors they want, the enchantment leaves everything in white colors until the client changes it. To change it they just have to put the tip of their wands on the furniture or the walls and think about the color they wanted. But the enchantment only works that one time, so it would be better if people already had an idea of what they wanted.
The only things that weren't in white couldn't be changed, the enchantment doesn't work on them.
Anyway, Helena's trunk was lined in grey leather. The metal endings and the handles were in silver, while the clasps were blue sapphire stones. Her initials H.J.C.P.B were engraved in elegant calligraphy in blue and silver.
Her new school bag was beautiful black leather with a blue sapphire clasp.
Both her trunk and school bag have safety enchantments to keep anything from damaging them. There were fireproof, waterproof, Anti-theft, anti-curse, feather-light charms, and shrinking charms. And each compartment on the trunk was password secured. Helena loved knowing her belongings were safe from everyone because she knew many people didn't believe her when she said Voldemort was back. Not that she can blame them because if someone told her that her childhood monster was back, she'd revolt too.
After she left the trunk shop she headed for Ollivanders to purchase a wand holster keyed to Helena's blood so it would return to her when it was laying somewhere away from her. Safety came first now that Voldemort was back even if he swears a vow never to come after her.
Helena's next stop was Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions for a new everyday wardrobe. She was tired of wearing raggedy boy clothes that looked like they should be on an elephant. She was a young lady and she's going to dress the part. Not to mention, she was an heiress to some of the oldest lines and she had a lot to learn. She's already wearing her heiress rings to protect her from mind intrusion, compulsions, curses, and poisoning potions.
She bought seven of everything. Blouses, long-sleeved shirts, undergarments, trousers, skirts, dresses, shoes, and multiple accessories. She also got her school uniforms so she wouldn't have to worry about it when she bought her school supplies.
After she was done, she headed to Twilfitt and Tattings for the top-of-the-line robes and heels. She knew the wizarding world had a coming-out party for sixteen-year-old girls on their birthdays. She didn't understand why yet, but she was going to be prepared.
Finally, her last stops were Flourish & Blotts, Slug & Jiggers Apothecary, Scrivenshaft's Quill Shop, Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment, and Potage's Cauldron Shop. She knew she most likely had her needed school supplies but she hasn't got her Hogwarts letter yet, so she wasn't going to worry about it.
She spent an hour at the Leaky Cauldron eating lunch before going back into the Muggle World for more shopping. She got more clothes, books, journals, pens, art supplies, a violin, and food and drinks. Now that Helena knew she had the money for her hobbies, she wasn't going to waste any time in furthering her passions. Art and music were everything to her, she loved it. It brought her some peace from the drama in her life.
When she returned to the Dursley home, she was stunned to see Remus outside.
"Remy, what are you doing here?" she asked smiling.
"I'm taking you somewhere safe," he stated just as Moody came outside.
"What's my Patronus?" she asked going for her wand.
"A stag. I told you there was no way your father wouldn't protect you, even from the grave," he said smiling.
"Let me get my belongings. You didn't get all off it. I hid my important things under the floorboards," she stated as she entered the room heading for the bed. She pulled out her photo album, cloak, and a defense book that Sirius had gotten her as an early birthday present.
"You're a very smart young lady. And you look very beautiful," Remus stated. She smiled as she looked down at her outfit. She wore a light blue dress that stopped two inches below her knees, a light pink sweater jacket with matching heels. She also wore a light pink jewelry set. Her hair was in a french braid with her bangs framing her face. She didn't wear makeup because she didn't need it. She was naturally beautiful.
"Thank you," she said smiling.
"Are we ready to leave?" Moody asked.
"How are we getting there?" Helena asked.
"Flying," Remus stated.
"Um, have you seen what I am wearing? I can't ride a broom in a dress," she stated stunned.
"I can transfigure your clothes and shoes. It'll wear off when we get to the safe house," Remus explained.
"Okay," she said frowning. She liked her dress and didn't feel like changing it. It was the first thing she wore that made her feel pretty after growing up having been made to wear boy clothes.
Her outfit was transfigured into white jean capris, a blue blouse, a white sweater jacket, and blue sandals.
"Read this," Remus instructed when they landed just as her outfit changed back.
"Number 12 Grimmauld Place," she muttered under her breath. She might be neutral but she wasn't going to put everyone in danger.
When they entered the house, everyone was waiting. She was surprised by how angry she got at them. These people were supposed to be her friends and they never wrote to her this summer. She was tired of being friends with these kinds of people. They were supposed to care about her, not ignore her.
It was time to give these people a piece of her mind. Helena was more than done letting people control her and her life.
A/N: There's not going to be yelling in this chapter because I've always thought that a deadly calm voice worked more than anything else.
Chapter 3: Letting the Anger Out
Helena wasn't ready for a fight right then, so she ignored everyone and headed where she assumed the kitchen was due to hearing yelling at the twins. From the sounds of it, the twins were planning another prank. She didn't understand how their own mother refuses to believe in them. Fred and George were better than her father, Sirius, and Remus at pulling pranks. From the stories Helena has heard from their school years, the Marauders didn't invent half the things Fred and George have in their six years of school. They started inventing in their first year of Hogwarts.
"Hello," she stated as she sat down at the table.
"Helena! When did you get here?" asked.
"Just now," Helena said stunned that was that dense.
"So, who is everyone?" she asked after didn't say anything.
"Helena, let me introduce you to the members of the Order. Hestia Jones, Kingsley Shacklebolt, Nymphadora Tonks," Sirius stated as he motioned towards the people she didn't know or recognize. He didn't have to introduce most of the people there due to Helena knowing everyone else for a few years.
"It's nice to meet you," she said tilting her head in greeting. She may not know them, but she wasn't going to be rude to people she just met.
An hour later, Dumbledore and Snape showed up just as Sirius started saying something to her.
"I'm surprised, Helena. I thought you would've asked about Voldemort by now," he pondered.
"Why? It's not like I'm going to get any straight answers. Everyone seems to think it's okay to treat me like a child, even after everything I've been through," she said glaring as everyone froze at her tone of voice. They never heard Helena speak with such venom in her voice. She sounded so cold and angry.
"What have you been through?" Tonks asked curiously.
"I lost my parents on Samhain and every year since I've entered the wizarding world I've been put in danger on that same day. Saving the Sorcerer's Stone in my first year. Entering an Acromantula nest in the Forbidden Forest and killing a 50-foot basilisk in second year, which I've sold since it's mine by conquest. My third year was my safest year due to Sirius not being after me. And last year, I don't think I need to explain," Helena gave the CliffsNotes version.
Everyone was stunned at what this young lady has been through. They didn't understand how she was sane. Helena was the strongest of them all.
"To be honest, I'm staying out of this war. It should have been dealt with before I was even born. It's not my problem that the adults and government didn't do their jobs," she said getting angry that everyone was always looking towards her to fix their problems.
"My dear..." Dumbledore started but she cut him off.
"You don't get to talk to me, not after what I found out after I took my lineage test at Gringotts," she said glaring.
"Let me see your test," Sirius requested trying not to get angry. He knew Helena well enough to know that she wouldn't accuse someone of anything without having proof.
"You're a dead man," Sirius started going for his wand after he read through the test. He couldn't believe what this man did to his daughter. He passed her test to Remus watching as one by one, the members of the Order pointed their wands at Dumbledore, including Snape.
"What right did you have to block this young lady's magic and soul bond?!" screeched in anger.
"He thinks he's God. He thinks he has the right to control everyone's lives without consequences," Helena stated with everyone agreeing with her. They knew Dumbledore was not what he appeared to be.
"That's it! You're out of here," Sirius said as he took a deep breath. " I, Lord Sirius Orion Black call upon the Black family wards and banish Albus Dumbledore from any properties of the Noble and The Most Ancient House of Black. So, mote it be," he announced and watched as Dumbledore was forcefully removed from the house.
"How are we going to protect Helena at school?" Remus asked. He didn't want Dumbledore getting his claws into his cub.
"I'm the Heiress of Gryffindor. The castle will protect me," she said smirking.
"That's good," she heard Hermione state from behind her. Helena spun around glaring at her supposed 'best friends'.
"Now you have something to say to me?" she asked still angry.
"Helena..." Hermione stated only to look down in shame at the way she treated her friend.
"After everything we've been through together, you chose an old man over me. Even knowing what I witnessed last year. I saw one of my friends get murdered and you didn't think that I would need someone to talk to?" Helena asked stunned.
"We thought Voldemort, or his Death Eaters would find you if we wrote to you this summer," Ron tried to explain but it was a weak argument because he knew they deserved her anger.
"That's not good enough. I needed you. But it doesn't matter anymore," she said taking a deep breath because she was about to drop a bombshell on everything.
"What do you mean?" Fred asked stunned at how angry this young lady was.
"I'm going to declare neutrality in the coming war. I'm going to make an unbreakable vow never to come after Voldemort or his Death Eaters and in return, he won't come or send someone after me or my chosen loved ones," Helena explained.
"Are you sure? I mean he killed your parents and made your Hogwarts years hell," Hermione asked but she would support her friend in her choices.
"Oh, Merlin! It was a war! Casualties were bound to happen. I don't understand why people expect me to be angry about what happened. My parents knew the risks and they still decided to fight knowing that they could be killed leaving me an orphan!" she exclaimed. Helena was getting angry again. No one would stop bringing up her deceased parents.
"Well, when you put it like that, it doesn't make any sense," Mad-Eye stated gruffly. He more than anyone understood what Helena was talking about.
"As for my Hogwarts years. I'm not going to hold a grudge. It takes too much energy," she said as she sat down. She hated being angry, but she felt more unburden than she's felt in years. It felt good to get the anger out.
"I support you, sweetheart. You deserve to live your life without fear," Sirius said hugging his little girl. He vowed right then that he would do anything for Helena, she deserved to be put first.
"It would be nice not to have to live looking over our shoulders," Molly stated as everyone nodded in agreement.
"Well, we're Auror's so we can't be neutral, but I support you in your choices," Tonks said motioning towards Kingsley.
"I won't be neutral because there's too much bad blood between me and them, but I also support you," Mad-Eye stated gruffly. He couldn't begrudge them the life they wanted.
"Helena, sweetheart, did you get the blocks and potions removed?" Remus asked.
"Yes, Remy. The goblins even healed the malnutrition and scars I suffered while I lived at Dursley's," she said as she tried not to fidget when everyone looked at her stunned.
"You were abused?" Snape asked stunned. He was surprised she wasn't a Slytherin. Abused kids had this great need to survive and become the best to prove their abusers wrong about them. He was even more surprised that he didn't notice.
"Yes. I'm surprised no one noticed due to how much shorter I was than my schoolmates. I was even wearing oversized boys' clothes and still, no one questioned it. I mean did you think a girl would want to be seen in boys' clothing?" she asked stunned. She didn't understand how no one noticed.
"I'm such a failer," Sirius whispered while the adults nodded in agreement. They couldn't believe they never noticed the abuse.
"Were you sexually assaulted?" Remus asked praying that it didn't happen to his cub.
"No. That will never happen either. The goblins found a necklace in the Potter vault that protects girls from being sexually assaulted. I'm the only one that can remove it," Helena explained much to everyone's relief.
"If that ever did happen, Draco would be within his rights to kill the one responsible," Snape stated trying not to smirk. Draco had a temper when anyone under his protection was hurt. It would be even worse with Helena due to her being his soul bonded.
"Speaking of, I have to get protein journals, so we won't have to write letters all the time," she said smiling.
"I have a set. You can have three of them. I'm keeping the fourth one so Moony and I can speak to you without someone trying to lock me up. They're keyed to your blood, so you'll be the only one able to read them," Sirius explained smiling. He was happy something was finally going right for his little girl.
"Thank you. Now, what possessed you to set up that amount of money for me? I don't need that much money. I mean, I can live off my trust vault up to a few years out of school," Helena asked. She didn't want to sound ungrateful but no kid her age needed that kind of money.
"I blood adopted you when you were born making you, my daughter. I must make sure you're taken care of until you're married," he explained. He caught hell from Lily when she saw the bank statement.
"Okay," she said sighing. "Well, it's been a long day, may I be excused?" she asked as she stood up.
"Yes, your bedroom is the one with the purple door on the third floor," Sirius said smiling. He couldn't wait until she saw her bedroom. It cost a small fortune, but it was more than worth it. He loved Helena.
Chapter 4: The Trial
When the day came of her trial, Helena was more than ready for those vultures. She was done with people taking advantage of her just because she didn't have her parents there to put a stop to it. It was the time people realized that she was done with beinging a pushover.
Helena couldn't believe that they thought that they could get away with changing the time of her trial and she would just take it. Well, they were about to receive a wake-up call. She was the last of the Potter bloodline, and she wouldn't stand for her rights beinging violated.
When she walked into the courtroom with a look of rage on her face, more than one person felt that they were seeing the sadly deceased Lily Potter standing in front of them. Even those from pureblood families hadn't wanted to anger Lily Potter in school or during the war. Anyone who had gone up against her in battle never came out of it without scars or they didn't live to tell the tale.
"I was informed that the change in time of a trial had to be given twenty-four hours before, not ten seconds. Who thought it would be a good idea to deny the last Potter heiress her right?" she asked the room at large and Lord Malfoy and Lord Knott had to fight to remain in control of their emotions. Helena was right.
"That is neither here nor there," Fudge stuttered.
"Whatever. Let us get on with this farce," she said as she sat down and for the first time, everyone noticed that she was dressed appropriately. She was wearing a cream-colored pencil skirt, a pink silk blouse, with matching heels. They also noticed she was wearing the Potter family heiress ring. Her hair was in an elegant Dutch style braided bun. She looked beautiful.
"Very well," Fudge started, "The accused being present- finally- let us begin. Are you ready?" he went on to announce a long list of ministry people, but you could see that he was less than enthused after he had been called out like.
Fudge seemed to gather himself, and read off, "The charges against the accused are as follows: That he did knowingly, deliberately, and in full awareness of the illegality of his actions, having received a previous warning from the Ministry of Magic on a similar charge, produce a Patronus charge in a Muggle-inhabited area, in the presence of a Muggle, on August the second at twenty-three minutes past nine, which constitutes an offense under paragraph C of the Decree for the Reasonable Restriction of Underage Sorcery, 1875, and also under section thirteen of the International Confederation of Wizards' Statute of Security.
"You are Helena Jamie Potter, of number four, Private Drive, Little Whinging, Surrey?" Fudge glared at Potter as if she was the reason behind all the problems in the world.
She replied with a smirk and in a cool tone, "No. That is not my full name. My name is Helena Jamie Carina Potter Black as my oath-bound Godfather had blood adopted me at birth,"
Mummers went around the room, they hadn't known that Sirius was her oath-bound Godfather, so they now knew that it would have been impossible for Sirius to betray her and her family without dying.
"You received an official warning from the Ministry for using illegal magic three years ago, did you not?"
"Yes, you see-" the girl was cut off from defending herself.
"And yet you conjured a Patronus on the night of the second of August?" said Fudge. Lucius was impressed. The power required to produce a Patronus was hard to muster for an adult wizard, for a child to do it was extraordinary.
"I did." Helena, who seemed to understand that anything she would attempt to say would be cut off, voiced her answer coldly.
"Knowing that you are not permitted to use magic outside of school while you are under the age of seventeen?" Fudge presses on.
"Yes."
"Knowing that you were in an area full of Muggles?" The question was loaded.
"Yes, and-"
"Fully aware that you were in close proximity to a Muggle at the time?" Fudge steamed on gleefully.
Helena, who seemed to have gotten enough of it, stood up in the middle of the room.
"Miss. Potter, what are you doing? Please sit down and answer the question?"
The girl waited for the room to quiet down, and everyone was attentive, waiting for what the child would do.
"Do not be so familiar with me. You may call me Heiress Potter Black. Now, I am going to speak now, and you may not interrupt me unless you want me to sue the entire Ministery for not given due process and the chance to defend myself," her voice echoed through the chamber and Lucius raised his eyebrows. That was defiantly one way to get people's attention. Helena Potter spoke assertively and confidently.
"Now, Miss. Potter, you see here-" Fudge looked panicked and tried to stop the girl.
"Minister Fudge, I have the right, as the heiress to not one, but two Noble and Ancient houses to defend myself unless you wish for me to sue under the Noble Protection Act of 1878 or the Line Protection law under the modern 1967 revisions,"
Amelia Bones looked surprised and had a faint smirk on her lips as she spoke out, "Please continue Heiress. Potter Black,"
"Before I make my cause for my use of magic, I would like to bring some things to light," the girl who was supposed to light's golden child smirked.
"The Muggles in question was in fact my cousin who has been aware of my magic since my Hogwarts letter and therefore, exempt from the law. And-"
Fudge interrupted, "You still are charged with underage magic use-"
"Of course, if you would let me continue, I was about to say: Last school year I was entered and allowed to participate in a competition which was only for adult wizards stipulating that under magic laws, due to that fact that my guardian did not, in fact, clear me for participating, I am no longer a minor,"
There was murmuring in the room and someone off to the left, whispered white loudly, "This is Helena Potter?"
"If that is not enough, you have brought me in front of the Wizengamot to be tried for underage magic which has never, in the history of Wizengamot, ever been done. You are therefore trying me as an adult proclaiming that I am charged as an adult. Now, this means that you are stating that I performed the magic as an adult negating the charges,"
"Now-" Fudge tried to backpedal.
"Also, in the history of Hogwarts, only a total of sixteen children have ever been convicted and expelled from Hogwarts for using underage magic, all of which have either attacked another or used flashy magic at least five times over the summer,"
"Your situation is different-"
"Because I am Helena Potter? I can sue you and the ministry for unfair and biased conduct if that is what you are proclaiming,"
"No, not at all…" Fudge backpedaled again.
"On top of that, the ministry has failed to uphold the Stature of Security due to the lack of Obliviators and Aurors that showed up after the magic was used,"
The whole courtroom took on another feel and Lucius glanced over to Dumbledore who had a surprised, and slightly angered look on his face.
"Then, this whole trial, could and should be thrown out due to misconduct. I was not informed of the time change for the trial eight hours in advance, as the law dictates nor was, I given legal counsel which all minors under the law are guaranteed unless you are proclaiming that I am not a minor. Also, I was not offered to testify under Veritaserum, which I would have conceded to, negating any charges that are brought up during this trial,"
Fudge's mouth was hanging open. Umbridge, the undersecretary, started in a sickly-sweet voice, "Now sweetheart, you are too young to-"
"I'm sorry, but do you have any authority to speak against me?" she asked.
"I am the undersecretary to the Minister-" she spoke indignantly.
"And therefore, only here to assist him. You have no legal training nor right to speak in this trial. I can, and am highly considering suing for lack of due process given wizarding and common law which the wizarding world is also subject to,"
"Now, if you were to convict me on underage charges, you have the right to take my wand. If so, I have the emancipation paper filled out due to beinging the last remaining heir which I would file at Gringotts and then would be a legal adult in which you would be forced to give me my wand back due to the fact that I was convicted for non-felony charge and with taking the OWLs, would legally be allowed to use magic again all under twelve hours. Also, I would then be an adult and be able to sue for not given due process, misconduct against a Noble House, subjugation due to my name, libel laws against the ministry (which owns the Daily Prophet), and anything else I could think up,"
Fudge and most of the Wizengamot were speechless.
"Now the reason we are here and should be the center of the matter for this trial is the fact that there were dementors near my house which could have, and because they are still rouge, still could kiss an unsuspecting Muggle or wizard who lacks the ability to cast a Patronus. Also, due to that, all the charges should be dropped because there is a blanket rule about nothing in the law restricting you from being able to protect yourself,"
"Miss. Potter, that is a farce. There were no dementors," The rest of the people at the trial were looking surprised and worried.
"I would like to inform you that I have submitted a memory to the Unspeakables who have proclaimed its authenticity. The fact that it was never collected before the trial nor offered as a means of proving my innocence is another misconduct,"
"The dementors which are supposedly under the ministry's control which means that they either were ordered to come to my neighborhood, which I'm sure is unlikely," she sarcastically popped off, "or are rogue and I am therefore concerned about the lack of care that the ministry employs with them,"
Throughout her whole entire speech, she had moved around and spoke to the whole crowd. After her little speech, she composed herself, and said, "Wither or not you clear me of these charges, there has been huge misconduct within the whole trial. My rights as a minor have been completely ignored on top of the fact that you have proclaimed that I am now an adult as early as the Triwizard tournament again negating charges, and the charges are inaccurate due to underage protection laws. I hope you make a good decision," and with that, Helena Potter sat back down in the chair and leaned back completely comfortably.
The whole entire room was unrest and even the light lords were glaring at Fudge. Almost everyone looked stunned at the girl who was nothing like they have heard.
"Cleared of all charges," Madame Bones said causing Helena to stand up and walk towards the exit before pausing.
"If I discover that those that are allied with the Houses of Potter and Black supported this farce, I will be canceling the alliances. You have been warned," she said before leaving.
A/N: This chapter might be shorter than the others, we'll see. I got the furniture design from Purple-Sherlock-1985's story Harriett Potter: What it is to be a witch.
Chapter 5: Platform Nine and Three-Quarters
The last month has gone by so fast and before they knew it, it was time for school. Helena was happy to be going back to Hogwarts because she was finally going to start applying herself and she was claiming the Gryffindor heir suite. She wasn't going to be sharing a dorm with anyone. She's had her trust thrown back in her face countless times; she wasn't going to take that chance again.
"Cub, are you packed?" Remus asked from the doorway. Helena had banned anyone from entering her bedroom because she was still a little angry and her friends had a habit of trashing everything and never cleaned up after themselves. Her bedroom was too pretty to let anything damage it.
Helena had purchased a new sleeping post for Hedwig. It was made out of glossy wood in a similar color to the flooring. It even had food and water bowls attached to it. She placed newspaper down to catch her droppings.
The walls had a glittery sheen and colored pale plum and cerulean blue. The floorboards were made of glossy cherry oak and had a black border around the edge, while a square-shaped rug in colors dark purple and pale blue that a floral pattern took up most of the floor at the foot of the bed. The furniture was white and, in a style, straight out of the mid to late seventeenth century, around the era of King Louie XV of Versailles, France.
The bedspread, pillows, throw and shams, two boudoir cushions, valance sheet, and long full-length curtains matched. They were dark plum with a pale green and pale blue stripe and had a big metallic lilac floral pattern. The ceiling was painted dark ivory and had Artex in a figure-eight pattern and a fanned rose pattern around the light fixture. The lighting consisted of five light plum-colored glass and metal chrome.
The bed was big enough to fit three fully-grown people in it. It was a 7ft sleigh bed, hand-carved from solid mahogany wood and hand polished and finished to a beautiful satin patina. The design is from the Louis XV era of French furniture circa 1745 and had scrolled ends and delicately carved. It was not a double or even a king it was emperor-sized.
When Helena first saw it, she nearly swooned at the sight of the quadruple armoire that had full-length mirrors and solid doors inlay made from solid mahogany wood, hand polished and finished to a beautiful satin patina in French white. The design is from the same era as the bed and other matching furniture. She could tell it was an authentic reproduction. It had center full hanging, and side drawers providing what she knew would end up being great storage space.
She had a matching three-mirror dressing table that had three small draws. There was even a stool and a unit with a set of six draws, a side table with also two draws, and even a bookcase with two lower draws and had three-layer shelves and two doors. It was all French white mahogany and hand polished to a beautiful satin patina just like everything else.
Sirius didn't spare any expense for her bedroom.
Helena's bathroom was also a work of art. It had an antique white-colored double vanity made of wood that had a solid cream marble countertop and two round under-mount white porcelain sinks. The two sets of taps were made of antique brass that had a coppery hue; while above the taps were two large identical oval-shaped mirrors. The detailing on the wood and the handles were stunning and brass-colored leaves with what appeared to be fans. There were four cupboard doors under the sink with four smaller draws stacked in the middle of the cupboards.
The tub was big enough for three people and had jets on all sides. Both the tub and shower stayed warm even when the temperature was chilly at night. It was heavenly.
Everything in the bathroom matched. Vintage copper-colored robe hooks side by side of the other on a wall covered in luxurious and glossy Mocha colored marble effect ceramic titles that had a natural stone effect and, noticed that even the floor had the same matching tiles.
The toilet holder, towel rail, shower caddy and glass shelf that were secured to the wall were all made of the same vintage style and copper color. Even the toilet brush and toilet handle were even made of the same vintage copper color and style. The toilet was cream-colored the same shade as the tub. It was a 1940–1950s style toilet and had simple embellishments on the tank lid and bowl base.
Helena especially liked how the ceiling was painted pure white and had an Artexed pattern of fans. She would even go as far as to say she liked the design more so than the one on her bedroom ceiling. She had never really seen Artex before Petunia had hated it so it was never used or seen in Privet Drive, but that would change she would see to that, putting Artex up in Private Drive would give her immense pleasure considering how much her aunts hates it.
To top it all off, both rooms had a light clapper installed.
"Yes, I'm all packed," she said smiling as she shrunk her trunk and placed it in her purse. She was wearing a light pink skirt, a grey long-sleeved shirt, and pink heels. She was also wearing a pink necklace with a matching purse. Her hair was in a french braid pinned to the right side of her head with her bangs framing her face.
She read in her wizarding etiquette book that only a witch's husband or family may see her with her hair down. She also read that a witch only wore five rings in her lifetime. An heiress ring, Lady ring, betrothed ring, engagement ring, and wedding ring. Helena could honestly say she loved those traditions.
From the books she's read, she couldn't understand why Dumbledore and his people were trying to make the wizarding world another muggle world. She liked things as they are. But she didn't like that they couldn't celebrate the wizarding holidays. They've either been banned or changed to fit the muggle world.
Their holidays are Imbolc, Beltane, Mabon, Samhain, and Yule. They've all been banned aside from Samhain and Yule. They've been changed to Halloween and Christmas.
Imbolc was a sacred day for both the Light and Dark. It's a celebration of life and rebirth. Celebrating the wellbeing of magic in the crops and babies. It's a renewal of life, energy, and strength. It's also a ritualized purification baths and celebratory bonfires.
Beltane is in May and it's a ritual for health, fertility, and prosperity. It involves ritualistic sex. It's the only thing about the holiday that Helena doesn't like but she would never judge other people who participate in it willingly. She mainly participates in the blessing of the fields of Lady Magic and her ancestors.
Monbon is in September, it's a welcoming of the Dark. Recognizing that life is a cycle and that Death is a natural part of life. The night is as necessary as Day. Winter lets the Earth rest in preparation for the coming Summer.
Their holidays were a part of what made them special. It was part of being either a witch or a wizard.
Anyway, when they got to the Platform, Helena didn't waste any time in saying goodbye before going to find a compartment. She was still a little mad at everyone, so she locked the door and pulled down the shades. She would only open the door for Draco when she felt him get closer. He's the only one she's not angry at.
When she felt him getting closer to her compartment, she unlocked the door and opened the shades. It didn't take him long to enter her compartment.
"How are you sweetheart?" he asked as he kissed her cheek.
"I'm hiding from my friends. I'm still upset with them," she said as she took one of the protein journals from her purse.
"Why? What happened?" he asked frowning.
"They ignored me all summer, even after knowing what I witnessed in the graveyard," she explained while she gave him the journal.
"Let me guess because Dumbledore told them too," he stated as he tried to hide the rage in his eyes. He couldn't understand why they treated Helena like that, but they wouldn't like school this year. He was going to get payback for her. No one upset his soul bonded and got away with it.
"Yes. They think he's God. Anyway, that journal is keyed to mine. If you drop some blood on it, no one aside from you will be able to read it. I thought it would be easier than writing letters all the time," she explained.
"Thank you," he said smiling.
"You're welcome," she said blushing as he kissed her cheek.
A few hours later, they were almost to Hogsmeade Station so she had him leave so she could change.
Chapter 6: Claiming Her Birthday
Helena was more than happy to be back at Hogwarts. She was going to make some much-needed changes to the education curriculum. She wanted Hogwarts to be the best school in the magical world. She wanted to be proud of her school. This coming weekend, she's going to invite the school governors and let them know what kind of changes were going to take place. She wanted their input on the new classes and teachers.
"Are you sitting with me at dinner?" Draco asked his beautiful, wonderful, love of his life. He's been in love with her for two years.
"Yes, after I claim the Gryffindor wards and the heir rooms. I want to get that out of the way before the drama starts," Helena explained kissing his cheek.
"I'll save you a seat beautiful," he said as he headed towards the Slytherin table.
"Ms. Potter, take your seat," Professor McGonagall kindly ordered when Helena didn't take a seat at the Gryffindor table.
"I will professor but there's something I need to say," she said taking a deep breath. "I, Helena Jamie Carina Potter-Black, claim the Gryffindor wards, dorms, and heir rooms as is my right as the last remaining Gryffindor heiress. So mote it be," she said smiling as the castle shook and a pulse of pure magic surrounded the Great Hall before settling inside Helena.
"Now will you take your seat?" Professor McGonagall asked smiling.
"In a minute," she said smiling before turning towards the students. "Now that I've claimed my birthright, there's something I need to say. Anyone caught bullying another student will be suspended. And any changes you guys want to be changed or added, please come to me because I intend to make Hogwarts the best school in the Magical world. That means new classes and new teachers," Helena announced smiling at the standing ovation she got from the whole school, including the teachers. The only one who wasn't happy was the Headmaster. He could no longer have any control over the students or teachers.
"That was amazing," Draco stated as she sat down next to him. His friends agreed with him. They never had a problem with Helena aside from thinking she was rejecting Draco.
"Please have Slytherin make a list of everything you would like changed. Also, have the Dark Lord send me a list of changes he'd like. I mean, he is Lord Slytherin even if he hasn't claimed the title yet," she said smiling. She knew Tom would like some changes made.
"Will do," Draco started smiling. He was so proud of Helena for finally doing something she wanted for a change.
"Will you change the uniforms? I mean, the robes always get in the way when we're in classes," Daphne asked while the girls nodded. They hated wearing clothes that did nothing for their figures.
"Absolutely," Helena stated. She also hated the uniforms. She wasn't going to change everything but there needed to be some changes made here at Hogwarts.
Helena could tell everyone was tired of not having a well-rounded education. Aside from that, they were also tired of having biased teachers. It was time every student was treated equally and fairly. Especially, Severus Snape. It was time he let go of a grudge against a dead man. A man who's been dead for 14 years.
Professor McGonagall needed to let go of two of her jobs. She was Deputy Headmaster, Head of Gryffindor, and the Transfiguration professor. Three jobs were too much for anyone to handle. Professor McGonagall never had time for her students when they came to her when something was wrong. She also never had time to set up study groups for the Gryffindors, that were being left to the Prefects and Head boy or Girl and they needed to be focusing on their OWLS and NEWTS.
It was time for some major changes.
A/N: Most of the school governors are OC's. Would anyone like Tom and his followers to have immunity for their crimes to end the war?
Chapter 7: Meeting the Governors
Helena was so happy. Sirius had finally demanded a trial as is his right due to being Lord Black. The Ministery couldn't deny him when he showed up in his Lordship robes and ring. All Lords or Ladies from a pureblood house had the right to a trial when they demanded it. No one could refuse, not even the Minister.
Before she knew it, it was time for her meeting with the staff and school governors. It was time for some changes.
"Draco, would you like to come to the meeting?" Helena asked as she picked a folder. It had a list of the changes needed or suggested from all four houses.
"You want me there?" he asked stunned but grateful. Draco didn't want to be left out of anything that concerned Helena. She meant everything to him.
"Yes. I'm not going to keep secrets or leave you out of anything that concerns me or this school," she explained smiling.
Draco was amazed at how entuned Helena was to his thoughts and feelings. He loved that they were on the same wave link almost all the time. It probably helped when over the years they seemed to fight with everything, even stupid stuff that didn't even matter.
When they got to the headmaster's office, they noticed it had been magically expanded to fit everyone.
"Ms. Potter, Mr. Malfoy," everyone greeted.
"Hello," they greeted as they sat down.
"Are we changing everything straight away?" Lord Nott asked. He was thankful for the Dark Lord calling off the attacks on this young witch. He never wanted to harm a child. Children were precious.
"No. Some of them will have to wait until next term," Helena started smiling. She was happy she didn't have to worry about being attacked anytime soon. She and the Dark Lord still haven't done the Vow.
"Are you making the suggestions?" Lord Malfoy asked his soon-to-be daughter-in-law.
"No. I didn't make any of them. I left it up to all four houses, but I agree with all of them. I want this school to be the best in the Magical world," she said as Draco took her hand. He was very proud of Helena.
"May we see the list?" Lord Diggory asked.
"Of course," she said as she pushed the folder towards them.
Slytherin House would like: Magical Studies, Etiquette and Manners, International Relations, and Spell Creation
Gryffindor House would like: Healing, Curse breaking, Warding, and Magical Languages
Ravenclaw House would like: Mathematics, Elemental Magic, Ancient Magic, and Rituals
Hufflepuff House would like: Gardening (Magical and Mundane)
All four Houses would like to plant fruit and nut trees. Fruit bushes. Fruit and vegetable gardens.
"These are amazing suggestions," Sirius stated stunned. He would have loved to take these classes when he was at Hogwarts.
"The trees, bushes, and gardens will save a lot of money. We wouldn't have to worry about the cost of food," Madam Bones said smiling.
"Are you all on board with the new classes?" Helena asked as she gently squeezed Draco's hand. She was nervous.
"Absolutely," they all stated. They all might be from different sides of the war, Light, Grey, and Dark but they agreed on their children's education.
"Alright. I'm going to tell you my suggestions, along with professors, and the students," Helena said before taking a deep breath.
"The first thing is the Hogwarts boats. They need to be improved because, at the beginning of the term, first years get so excited, they fall into the lake. Instead of the number of boats we have now, we'll have seven. We get about seventy-first years every term, so the boats will sit ten per boat. The boats will have the Hogwarts crest on the roofs. There will be charms and runes added to the boats to prevent from tipping over or the students falling into the lake. The charms and runes will also keep the rain and wind out of the boats if the weather is bad," Helena explained before taking a sip of water.
"Why didn't we ever think of that?" Professor McGonagall asked. She felt stupid for not coming up with that idea. It would help out a lot because the children are always going to the Hospital wing the night before classes due to having colds.
"Because we don't think like kids anymore. They always see problems that we never do," Sirius said smirking at his very smart Goddaughter. He was proud of her.
"The path from the Hogsmeade Station to Hogwarts needs to be improved also. The path to the boats needs lights to show the first years where they're going. It's hard to see around Hagrid due to him being so much bigger than the little firsties," Helena paused again when everyone laughed. "A handrail needs to be installed so the children could hold onto when the ground is wet. Oh, and some lanterns would help a lot. Maybe place them every five meters, making the path even more secure," she said as she took another drink of water. She doesn't remember talking this much, ever.
"I feel stupid," Lady Greengrass stated while the others nodded. They couldn't believe they never thought of that.
"Next is the entrance hall. Charms need to be placed on the stones within the first four meters behind the door to dry shoes and summon the mid, dirt, or leaves into boxes. It'll make Mr. Filch's job easier due to only having to empty the boxes once a day due to having charms on the boxes. Well, we need those for every entrance due to students coming inside all hours of the day because of classes," Helena stated. She paused when she noticed everyone smiling at her. She never saw so many purebloods showing so much emotion before. It was refreshing. It showed that they were like everyone else.
"The next is the point system," Helena started but was interrupted.
"You want to change the point system?" Lord Nott asked stunned.
"No. Just making a small change," Helena started smirking. She loved that she could shock a pureblood Lord.
"Let's hear it," Sirius started smirking. He loved how his beloved Helena could shock people.
"Instead of the whole house worrying about who caused them the house cup, I purpose this. The seven students from each year in every house, who's earned the most points of their year will get a reward from either the Headmaster or their Head of House," Helena explained.
"It would make it a lot fairer for everyone. It might even motivate the students who don't try to get better grades," Professor McGonagall stated.
"That's why I suggested it. I love Ron like a brother, but he's lazy when it comes to his grades and studying. He only cares about Quidditch," Helena said while the professors nodded.
"Are you going to change the Quidditch Cup too?" Lord Malfoy asked smirking at her look of disgust. The adults and Draco laughed at her expression. She looked at Lucius like he committed the worst crime in the world.
"NEVER," Helena said frowning while everyone laughed. They knew she loved Quidditch.
"Now the tables in the Great Hall need to be replaced by smaller round tables seating up to ten people per table. My classmates agreed with me on this one due to not being able to sit with our friends from the other houses," Helena stated while Draco nodded. He hated not being able to sit with his other friends and it would be nice to sit with Helena and not worry about getting in trouble.
"Again, why did we never think of that?" Madam Bones asked amused.
"Because we're stupid," Sirius said laughing before nodding to Helena to continue.
"Each table will have a white tablecloth with the House Mascot, while the chairs have the Hogwarts crest engraved on the back of the chairs," she said leaning against Draco. She was getting hungry and tired. They've been in this meeting for almost three hours.
"I love the idea," Professor Flitwick said. He was so proud of his student.
"Next is the school uniforms. We all hate it. This change will take place immediately. The girl's uniform will be black knee-length skirts and white button-down shirts with our house crests. The ties, socks, and shoes will be the boys will be the same except the house crests will not be on their trousers. We are tired of wearing robes," Helena stated firmly while Draco nodded in agreement.
"The sixth and seventh years can wear what they want as long as they don't wear revealing outfits," Helena added as an afterthought. Draco looked at her stunned but he loved the idea.
"I can agree with that. The students have the right to express themselves," Professor Sprout stated firmly. She knew that the kids wanted to be themselves.
"I love the idea," Lord Nott stated while the adults nodded.
"This was solely my idea. I want to open up a small shop in the school. It will be opened three days a week so the students can shop for school supplies, candy, books, wand holsters, broom care kits, brooms, games, and clothes for the students to buy should they run out or want something different. The students will have the option of exchanging their points for something in the shop should they have enough points or grades. The shop will be open for two hours and run by the House Prefects and the Head boy or girl," Helena said smiling. She had wanted to do something like that for a while now.
"I think it's a great idea," Professor Snape stated to her surprise. He didn't agree with anything she's ever said since she's arrived at Hogwarts.
"These last changes are to be put in place immediately. The professors will take a Vow to never place their students in danger. They will protect them to their best abilities. And if someone comes to you about their home lives, you are to do something right away. No child deserves to be put through what I have when I went to the Headmaster about the Dursleys. My life was hell growing up and during the summers. I am tired of the adults failing their changers," Helena stated firmly glaring at the headmaster.
"Done," Lord Malfoy stated. He has seen her medical reports from the Goblin Healers, and he was angry that someone could do that to a child.
"On second thought, I Helena Jamie Carina Potter Black, banish Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I revoke his right to enter Hogwarts and to be near students. So, mote it be," Helena announced as a bright flash of magic surrounded Dumbledore before he along with his belongings disappeared.
"Now that he's out of the way, the last thing is the teachers aren't allowed to show favoritism or take points unless deserved," Helena said staring at Snape.
"I agree," Professor McGonagall stated firmly.
"Alright, do you have a list of the teachers we'd like to teach next year?" Lord Nott asked.
"I already have the list. Professor Lupin is getting a teaching job. On the night of the full moon and the night after, he will have a substitute. He can be down in the Chamber of Secrets, so you won't have to worry about him harming the students," Helena stated firmly.
"Okay," Madame Bones said smiling. She was proud this young lady wasn't a bigot against magical creatures.
"There's the list," Helena said handing each of them their own copy.

"I approve," the governors stated smiling at this amazing young lady.
"Sorry to rush out but I'm hungry," Helena said smiling as everyone laughed while Draco escorted her to the kitchens.
