Chapter 1: Raina (Rough draft which includes grammar mistakes).
Thorin and his family have been looking for his niece, the daughter of his brother, and they have not found her. He nor the family wanted to give up the search for Raina, but they had no other choice. They had to take care of their people, even though it was the last thing they wanted. They were missing a piece of their family, and it was painful. Frerin was deceased, and with his dying breath asked Thorin to take care of his precious jewel. It was physically painful to not follow through on his promise. It was heartbreaking but he knew he would find Raina. He knew she wasn't dead.
He never expected to find her in the Shire of all places while on the journey to reclaim their rightful home. His people were dying from sickness and lack of food because they were cheated out of hard-earned coin. It was miserable for his people, and he was finally going to do something about it. When he arrived at their host's home, he was stunned when he saw a familiar figure walking toward a stone cottage surrounded by a stream and nature. It looked peaceful, but that wasn't on his mind right then.
"Raina..." he called watching her stop in shock. "Uncle Thorin," she breathed before launching herself into his arms. "I did not know you were here..." Thorin told her. "I did not know where you had settled or I would have come home," she murmured into his chest. "Do not worry about that. I am so happy that you are safe," he said. "You haven't come of age yet. Why are you living alone?" he inquired. "I had nowhere else to turn to. I am the blacksmith in the Shire and daggers and swords are my weapons of choice. I remember both yours and Adad's lessons, but I know better than to train on my own," she gave the cliffsnotes.
"How attached are you to the Shire?" he asked. "Not very. I am friends with the Master of Bag End and the Took family, but other than that, I am always ready to leave at a moment's notice. They are the ones who helped me build my cottage," she explained. "Well, if you are willing, then you may come with us to reclaim Erebor, and we will send for your belongings when we settle down," Thorin offered, and Raina beamed this truly stunning smile.
"I would love to uncle Thorin," she said smiling just as Thorin knew she would. Raina grew up hearing stories of Erebor, and before she had gone missing, Thorin knew that she felt the call of home. It was a feeling that those you had grown up there lived with every day of their lives.
