Chapter 1: The Letter
After the battle of Hogwarts, Lady Nalaea Lilian Potter Black had taken the time for some much-earned rest. She was so tired of fighting, but there was nothing she loved more than helping people. So if someone had to suffer, she would do so happily if only the innocent could live their lives peacefully. Her friends thought she was crazy for wanting to continue to fight and protect people after all she's been through. Nalaea didn't care what anyone thought, she was going to continue helping those in need, she just felt like it was who she was. Besides, there was nothing greater than feeling like she was doing something good for people who required help or protection.
She did prefer to heal than fight, but there was nothing she could do.
But ever since the battle ended, Nalaea has felt something pulling her towards whom she really was. She has known, for years, that she wasn't really a Potter, but she still loved them due to them loving her enough to die for her, so she'd have a chance at life. She felt a very strong bond with Lord and Lady Potter, even with them being gone. It's like they were bound to protect her for some reason, so Nalaea has been calling them her Protectors within the privacy of her mind. It was the same with Sirius and Remus. They felt like protectors towards Nalaea.
Aside from all that, Nalaea didn't look anything like the Potters. She had long dark brown hair, brown eyes with flecks of gold, and her pale skin made her seem like she was an otherworldly being. All in all, she was much more beautiful than even a Veela. She wasn't trying to sound conceited, but it's true. Nalaea felt like she was missing a piece of herself. She's felt wrong her whole life. She knew she was needed somewhere important but couldn't place it. It's been weeks since Nalaea has started looking in the books at Grimmauld Place trying to figure out what was going on with no luck. Finally, Nalaea decided to take a lineage test at Gringotts to find out whom she really was.
Just as she was about to leave for the bank, a trunk appeared in front of her with a letter attached to it. After she checked it for curses and port keys, she picked up the letter and read through it.
My Dear Nalaea,
James and I weren't your parents' but we were your protectors. You see, years ago I foresaw a prophecy about your homeland, Middle Earth. I informed your parents and twin brother Aragorn of the contents of the prophecy, and they made James and I take you away to a different world where you'll be safe. You were young when we had taken you away from home. The reason you don't remember your parents or brother is due to us blocking your memories and doing a complicated glamour charm, making you look like James and me. We also made you look like a baby so no one would suspect anything.
You were supposed to be safe, but sadly that did not happen or else you would not have received this letter. That would mean we are dead and the war against Voldemort and his Death Eaters is over. Please, read below to view the prophecy…
The world has changed. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. Furthermore, I smell it in the air. Much that once was is lost. For none now live who remember it. It began with the forging of the great rings. Three were given to the elves, immortal, wisest, and fairest of all beings. Seven to the Dwarf Lords, great miners, and craftsmen of the mountain halls. And nine, nine rings were gifted to the race of men, who above all else desired power. For within these rings was bound the strength and will to govern each race.
But they were all of them deceived, for another ring was made. In the land of Mordor, in the fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Sauron forged in secret a master ring, to control all others, and into this ring, he poured his cruelty, his malice, and his will to dominate all life. One ring to rule them all.
One by one, the free lands of Middle-earth fell to the power of the ring. But there were some who resisted. A last alliance of men and elves marched against the armies of Mordor and, on the slopes of Mount Doom, they fought for the freedom of Middle-earth. Victory was near, but the power of the ring could not be undone. It was in this moment when all hope had faded that Isildur, son of the King, took up his father's sword… Sauron, the enemy of the free peoples of Middle-earth, was defeated.
The ring passed to Isildur, who had this one chance to destroy evil forever. But the hearts of men are easily corrupted. And the ring of power has a will of its own. It betrayed Isildur to his death. And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend, legend became myth and for two and a half thousand years, the ring passed out of all knowledge until, when chance came, it ensnared a new bearer. The ring came to the creature Gollum, who took it deep into the tunnels of the misty mountains, and there it consumed him. The ring brought to Gollum unnatural long life. For five hundred years, it poisoned his mind. And in the gloom of Gollum's cave, it waited.
Darkness crept back into the forests of the world. Rumor grew of a shadow in the East, whispers of a nameless fear, and the ring of power perceived its time had now come. It abandoned Gollum. But something happened then the ring did not intend. It was picked up by the most unlikely creature imaginable: a Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins of the Shire. For the times will soon come when Hobbits will shape the fortunes of all…"
After you read this letter, go to Gringotts and take everything we left you along with your personal belongings, so you may go home to where you really belong. The glamour and memory block will break as soon as you are back home. But, sadly, you will only reunite with your brother as your parents' died in a war.
One last thing, you are the Princess of Gondor while your brother is meant to be King. The attire for men and women in Medieval style, so keep that in mind when you shop or make your clothing. Enclosed is a gold charm bracelet with your family crest, it will take you home to your brother. Lastly, I know this is going to be a shock, but you are betrothed to Faramir Captain of the Rangers of Ithilien, Captain of the White Tower, Steward to the King of Gondor, Lord of Emyn Arwen, Prince of Ithilien. Your parents had asked James and me to cast a spell revealing who your soulmate was. They betrothed you to Faramir so no one could come between the two of you.
Nalaea, you may not have been our daughter, but we loved you fiercely, always remember that.
Love your protectors,
Lord James Fleamont Potter and Lady Lily Grace Potter, née Evans
After Nalaea read the letter, she was stunned, but it made sense. She had never felt comfortable calling Lily and James mom and dad. After she wrote a letter for her friends along with leaving one of the two-way mirrors, so they could contact her, she headed to Gringotts. Nalaea has always felt like she didn't belong in either the muggle world or the magical world. Now she knew why.
"Wow," she breathed, stunned. Beinging a princess would most certainly explain why Nalaea always felt like she was meant for greater things as she grew up. She was destined to help people. She was grateful she finally knew who she was. As she was anxious to be home with her family, she packed everything in the house into trunks before she got dressed. She undressed from the modern outfit she was wearing and quickly laced up a corset for support because she was betting there was no such thing as bras where she comes from. She dressed in a floor-length blue and black dress, black cloak, black boots, and her crown. She had been trained with a sword and bow during the war as not to depend on her magic alone, so she had those strapped to her but hidden from view. Nalaea had learned that it was useful to make someone or beings underestimate her.
Wearing a crown is going to take some getting used to, she thought as she tightened the dress as tightly as she could handle. She was so thankful that Andromeda showed her how to wear a corset for the correct posture. She hated wearing them, but it helped tremendously with her posture. As she was about to leave, she told Kreacher to bond with Andy, so he wouldn't die and that Andy would have some help. Nalaea also summoned the trunks filled with her belongings, so she wouldn't forget.
She was so happy she didn't have to depend on a wand anymore. She had so much power that she didn't need the wand to focus it anymore. Nalaea was thankful because she got so tired of using her wand and people were always taking her wand when she had it, so she burned it. She didn't need it.
When she arrived at Gringotts, she was escorted to the Potter Account Manager's office.
"What can I do for you?" he asked.
"First, I'd like you to read this. Then, I'd like a lineage test and withdraw everything in the bank because I'd like to go back to my homeland," she said, trying not to glare at him. She hated Goblins due to them having no honor and for beinging greedy.
After he read the letter, he handed it back to her before proceeding with the lineage test. When the Goblin brought Nalaea's money and heirlooms, after setting up accounts for Hermione, Ron, and their family's along with copies of memories they shared together, she went shopping. Seeing as her protectors had told her in the letter about what the women in her world wore, she left her modern clothing to Ginny. Nalaea has always loved wearing dresses, and thanks to the etiquette training Petunia had forced on her, she knew how a lady acted. That hadn't been feasible on the Horcrux hunt, Nalaea had to wear jeans, shirts, and jackets.
Anyway, the goblin led the way to their ritual room. It took half an hour to have everything prepared, as he motioned for her to enter the ritual circle before they started chanting in Latin.
"Mater Magicae trasporto Principessa, Lady Nalaea Lilian Potter Black of Gondor to her fatherland Medi Terr," they chanted for ten minutes before magic swirled around her whisking Nalaea away to her homeland. When she saw where she was, she had landed in a beautiful meadow across the lake from a castle, but before she could look around, she fainted as she was hit with her memories.
