Chapter 1: Surprise Vistier (Rough draft which includes grammar mistakes).

When she arrived at work that morning, Violet never expected to see her little sister. A sister she hasn't seen in a little over four years. Her sister had gone overseas for school so she could get away from their parents and away from the grief. "Be-Be," she said, causing her sister to turn beaming a beautiful smile. Violet hasn't seen her sister smile like that since their brother died from lung cancer. Edward and Bella had been twins, so when he died, it was like a piece of Bella died also. It had been heartbreaking seeing her baby sister so consumed with anger and pain. It was wonderful seeing her sister smile again.

"Vi!" Bella exclaimed hugging her sister for the first time in four years. "How have you been?" Violet asked. "I have a one-year-old son. It was a one-night stand with one of my friends who turned out to be gay. He's amazing, and very much a part of EJ's life," Bella said not knowing she just told everyone in the practice because her voice rose in happiness and excitement. "Bella, I am so happy for you. I wish you would have told me. I would have been there for you," Violet said hugging her sister again. "I just bought a house just out of city limits. I'm home. Now, would you like to meet your nephew?" Bella asked beaming ear from ear.

"Yes! I know what the E stands for in his name. What does the J stand for?" Violet asked as Bella placed her baby in her arms. "Jacob. The gay best friend I told you about," Bella said as Violet looked down at her nephew. "Bella..." Violet trailed off. "Yeah. My little man has down syndrome. It's been a little difficult, but I've been going to classes so I can learn how to understand it. That's actually why I'm here instead of going to your house tonight. A friend recommended Dr. Freedman so I made an appointment," Bella explained.

"Bella, don't call me Dr. Freedman. We have known each other for years," Cooper told the woman he viewed as a sister causing her to turn towards him. "Coop. I didn't know it would be you. There are many doctors with the same name," Bella said beaming at him and hugging him. He became a big brother to her ever since he and Violet became best friends. "It's good to see you, Bee," he said as he took a look at EJ. An hour later, Cooper came out of his office with EJ.

"You are doing everything right, Bee. He is a healthy little boy. I have books on how to deal with down syndrome because I know it can be difficult for parents. I will give you two of each, so Jacob can learn how to deal with it also," Coop said handing EJ to his mother. "His motor skills are a little slower than they should be, but I will show you a number of exercise movements that will help him as he grows," Coop continued.

"Thank you, Coop," Bella said hugging her child close. "I'm having a barbeque tonight. You are welcome to come and bring your friends, and they are welcome to bring their family," Bella said, buckling EJ into the stroller. "We'll be there," Violet promised, as her sister walked away, bumping into Pete on her way to the elevator. "Sorry," Bella said looking up, her breath catching as she gazed into his brown eyes. "No problem," he said. He was stunned. This had to be the most beautiful woman he has ever seen.

Bella and Pete were so busy looking at each other, that they failed to realize that everyone was witnessing the connection between them.
