A Crush's Reach - is Far Fetched as They Say

After Yuki entered the school building, she reached out for her shoe locker. But finds a paper sticking out from beneath the locker door.

She grabs the edge of the paper and slowly pulls it out.

It soon revealed that it was an envelope inside her locker.

"What's this?" Yuki inquired and examines the envelope for a name,

When there wasn't a name on the envelope, she decided to open it and pulled out a written letter.

As it turns out, it was a love letter written by some random boy she never knew and the contents of the letter weren't appealing to her whatsoever.

It was a sloppy attempt to declare his love to her and at the very bottom of the letter were a few poems that were supposedly used to heighten the romantic level of his letter.

Yuki was unamused by the letter, and with the use of her alter ability. She figures out the sender of the letter, sighs once she had gotten the face of her proclaimed admirer, and puts the letter into her bag.

Class Room

During break period, Yuki is sitting on her desk doing some origami with two pieces of paper together. The exterior was a large blank paper while the interior was the letter she received, but facing down as she didn't want to read it again.

Once completed, she made a paper butterfly and shows it to her seatmate, Kusuo Saiki.

'What do you think?' Yuki inquired,

'You've made a butterfly. Not surprising, but I must ask. What was that other paper you place in the middle?' Saiki questioned,

'It's just some love letter that some boy wanted to give to me. I don't find it appealing, so I made use of the letter for this origami,' Yuki explained, and flapped the wings with two fingers, 'It makes the wings flap,'

'Okay, now I'm surprised with what you did to the letter,' Saiki revised,

After this conversation, the two soon overheard their classmates going on about love and confessions.

'It's like Cupid shot everyone in my class. I don't get love at all,' Saiki commented, 'For example, take Teruhashi. Every guy is obsessed with her,'

Yuki turns to the said girl, and she was glowing as usual.

'I could never understand why she's always glowing,' Yuki said,

'That's how she is,' Saiki said, 'I also have zero interest in her. That's because I know who she really is,'

Yuki soon alters herself into a telepath and reads Teruhashi's mind as she spoke with her fellow classmates.

'~Actually I don't date immature brats. They have to at least have an annual income of 40 million yen!~' Teruhashi thought,

'She's a bit of a narcissist and a golddigger? Makes me wonder how such a personality manifested' Yuki said,

'Also this is what she really looks like to me,' Saiki said, though Yuki couldn't see what he was seeing.

But being aware of Saiki's X-Ray vision ability, she could tell that it was something disturbing, 'Must be hard for you?'

'I try to get used to it. But for that reason alone, I will most likely never enter into a relationship,' Saiki said and glanced at Yuki,

Apparently, his X-Ray doesn't work on her and assumed that her power is resisting the effects of his X-Ray. Thus, was internally glad to see a normal girl than a layer of muscles and bones.

'However, That is exactly why I am experiencing a serious dilemma,' Saiki said,

Sitting a few seats away was an orange-haired girl whose gaze is fixated on Saiki. From the look alone, Yuki could tell that this is the look of a girl gazing at his crush.

'~Saiki always looks so handsome,~' The Orange haired girl said,

'You are the cause of my dilemma, Chiyo Yumehara,' Saiki said,

'~Saiki... I just can't seem to stop thinking about you these days~' Chiyo said, while sketching Saiki's face on paper, '~Saiki... I have a crush on-~'

As Chiyo was about to turn to Saiki but was caught off guard when Saiki made a face that resembles that of a fish. The same can be said for Yuki, but she bit her lip to keep her laughter from coming out.

'~W-What...? What was that?!' Chiyo exclaimed,

'S-Saiki, As funny as that face looks. You're going to attract the wrong type of attention to yourself,' Yuki stated while giggling in her telepathy,

'You're right. If I keep this up, I'll stand out as a weirdo and that's something I don't want,' Saiki said, 'I know I'm repeating myself, but I don't want to stand out,'

'~I wonder what Saiki's thinking,' Chiyo wondered,

'I just need to get her to give up on me. In order to do that...' Saiki said,

'~I wanna know more about Saiki. In order to do that...~' Chiyo followed,

'~ I need to get closer to him~/I need to get away from her!' Saiki and Chiyo simultaneously declared,

Yuki smiled at their plans, though she feels bad for Chiyo crushing on Saiki...

Regardless, she might as well tag along with this joyful ride...

Line Break

Saiki is seen walking down the hallway while Chiyo was peeking her head out as soon as she spots him. As for Yuki, she made herself invisible with her alteration power and walked beside him.

'~Ah! Here he comes!~' Chiyo pulls back, and Yuki undoes her invisibility, '~Saiki is by himself! This is my chance! Okay, time to review my plan!~'

Yuki could only giggle at the girl's plan for a cliche encounter in a romance genre.

'You want me to take the fall?' Yuki inquired,

'Please do,' Saiki replied,

'Alright,' Yuki replied, walking a few steps ahead,

As soon as Chiyo finishes reviewing her plan, she goes into action and Yuki takes the fall by bumping into Chiyo while Saiki jumps over them and keeps on walking.

"Are you alright, Chiyo?" Yuki questioned,

'~EH?!' Chiyo exclaimed in utter shock,

"Here, let me help you with this," Yuki offered, and picks up the paper,

'~W-What just happened?! Why did it come to this?!~' Chiyo questioned,

'I'm truly sorry, girl. But you are being rejected in the most bizarre way possible,' Yuki apologized without sharing her thoughts with Chiyo and Saiki,

First Attempt: Failed

Next up was the classroom, Chiyo was standing outside the door and Saiki was sitting at his desk. As for Yuki, she sitting at her desk and drawing another student per his request.

'~ My next plan... will use this handkerchief!~' Chiyo declared, then reviews her plan once more. In addition, she also mentioned that this plan has a backup plan should the first fail.

'Want me to take this one?' Yuki inquired while keeping her eyes on her sketchpad,

'Please do' Saiki replied,

Chiyo soon goes into action and eyes on the handkerchief as soon as it fell near Saiki's desk. Yuki temporarily puts her sketchpad on the floor and grabs the handkerchief from the floor.

"Chiyo," Yuki called, and hands the Handkerchief as soon as Chiyo turns to her, "You dropped this,"

'Eh?! Again!' Chiyo exclaimed, takes the handkerchief, and retreats, '~ Wahhh! Another Failure!~'

Yuki watches her go then returns to her drawing.

Unknownst to her, Saiki glances at her and seemingly hid a small smile on his face.

Second Attempt: Failed

During physical education, Chiyo's next plan was pretending to have lost the ball and chase after it as it rolled toward Saiki.

However, Yuki was there, takes the ball, and returns it to Chiyo's hands.

"Try to be more careful with the ball next time, Okay?" Yuki said, though Chiyo already ran with the ball on hand,

Third Attempt: Failed

Chiyo's next plan was her carrying a large stack of books and call out for help with Saiki close by.

But Yuki was the first to answer the call, opens the door for her, and even carried some of the books for her since some of those books can be heavy.

Once again, failing to get close to Saiki.

Fourth Attempt: Failed

Chiyo had finished cooking some cookies and she plans to offer Saiki some. But that didn't happen as Yuki called out for Chiyo as well as offered some cookies that she made while Saiki sneaked away.

With her failures to approach Saiki, she was forced to eat her own cookies to relieve the stress...

Fifth Attempt: Failed

Another day in school has come to an end, and the rain was pouring down hard in the area.

Yuki plans to leave the school, but she decided to wait for Chiyo as this scenario can be turned for her favor to approach Saiki one last time.

Right on time, Yuki sees Chiyo exiting the doors and waited for Saiki to come around with an umbrella. Though the latter was unaware of the former's presence since she was near her shoe locker for the time being.

She also giggled at Chiyo's thoughts since her imagination is quite off to Saiki's character.

Before she could offer an umbrella to the girl, Yuki sensed some degree of power from the rooftop and noticed that it stops raining.

"Ah... The rain stopped?" Chiyo remarked, then notices Saiki walking out of the building with his bag on his shoulder, "Ah ... Saiki-kun..."

Final Attempt: Failed

Then Chiyo feels dejected that her plans were a complete bust, '~I'll give up. I suppose Saiki and I are fated to always be apart. Goodbye, Saiki,~'

'Goodbye, Yumehara. Forget about me and find someone else,' Saiki said, 'I'm sure that soon you will find someone nice,'

Yuki sighs to herself and went out of school without Chiyo noticing her.

Chiyo Admits Defeat...

While Chiyo remains by the school door, a boy comes to Chiyo's side and offers his umbrella to her, " Would you like to use my umbrella?"

"The rain has stopped," Chiyo said,

"The rain of tears hasn't... In your heart, that is" The boy said, then Chiyo turns to him, "I'll be the umbrella for your heart,"

'~ He is my destiny...~' Chiyo said,

'Hey, that's a little too soon,' Saiki and Yuki simultaneously remarked,

And finds new love...?

Saiki and Yuki continued to walk down the path to their respective homes. When a single rain drop tapped onto Yuki's head, she looks up and notices the rain clouds above her.

"Huh? Guess the rain isn't pouring on the school," Yuki remarked,

But before she could even think about pulling her umbrella, Saiki places his hand onto her shoulder and the two teleported from the street to Yuki's door.

"Huh, What the-" Yuki soon turns to Saiki, "You know that I have an umbrella, right?"

'I know, but after everything you've done to keep Chiyo away. I couldn't help but feel indebt of you. And that is another thing I don't want on my list,' Saiki said,

"Oh, well in that case. I appreciate the ride," Yuki thanked, then opens her door, "You take care, Saiki,"

Yuki then enters her home and Saiki returns to his. However, their arrival didn't go unnoticed as Yui was looking through the window this whole time.

When the night rolled in, She, Yui, and Miyako were having dinner and the matter was brought up by Yui as Yuki drank her glass of water.

"Onee-Chan, what that pink boy your boyfriend?" Yui inquired, causing Yuki choke on her face while her mother had a face of interest,

"A Pink Haired Boyfriend? Are you dating Kurumi's son, Yuki?" Miyako inquired,

"What? No," Yuki responded as soon as her throat was cleared, "We just walk together since we live in the same neighborhood and go to the same school together,"

"But I saw you two together," Yui pointed out, "He even has his hand on your shoulder,"

"Oh? Is your progress really that slow? I could offer you some advice," Miyako suggested, but Yuki soon stands up from the table,

"It's not like that!" Yuki shouted,

Then all of a sudden, a picture fell from the wall and three of them turned their attention toward it.

Miyako immediately tends to it while her two daughters stared in confusion. But the oldest then uses her power to see Yui's and finds it hovering next to the wall where the picture was hanging.

What's more, the orb was glowing rather wild than its usual appearance.

"What is it feeling?" Yuki inquired,

"It feels... protective?" Yui replied in confusion,

Yuki put some thought into it, then made a dejected look on a certain assumption, 'It seems that someone here doesn't approve...'

At the end of that, Miyako sets up the picture on the wall, Yuki fixes the picture with her powers, and everyone went to sleep afterward.
