As before...
Relena: DM/Dungeon Master (loves the group, but often wants to TPK them)
Heero: Drow Ranger (Quatre had to make his character for him)
Duo: Tiefling Bard (likes to play up "that bard" to Relena's annoyance)
Trowa: Tiefling Rogue (dresses "like a bard/clown" to confuse enemies)
Quatre: Aasimar Cleric (lone healer of the group and all that prevents a TPK)
Wufei: Dragonborn Monk (extremely particular about his character)
Hilde: Tabaxi Barbarian (used to grapple the others as needed)
Also...Duo, stop trying to derail the campaign.
"Wait. Can I ask a dumb question?"
"Better than anyone we know, Maxwell." Came Wufei's irritated tone as he tried to focus on the map of the dungeon laid out on the table; he could only imagine, and possibly dread, what exactly Relena had cooked up for them during this dungeon crawl. He had to give her credit, she could concoct some very challenging puzzles and combat situations if you gave her enough time; he was partly wondering if she was using this game to test potential military strategies against them considering how well organized enemies could be.
"Wufei. Be nice." Quatre said before turning a small smile to his fellow pilot. "What's your question, Duo?"
"Quat's our only magic user-like...magic-magic. Not like the kinda magic I kinda use, but Quat's got real magic." Duo said with a frown on his face as he crossed his arms over his chest. "That in mind...don't we need more magic users? Like wizards or sorcerers or whatever other kinda mages are in this game?"
"It's not exactly a need, Duo." Relena said with a small shrug of her shoulders as she watched Wufei and Heero's brows crease in almost matching glares as they tried to plan ahead for the dungeon. She almost felt bad about how they were struggling in the moment...even if she did find their 'concentrating faces' quite handsome. "The party's been doing fine so far and, if needed, one of you could always multi-class at a later date."
"Really?" Duo perked up at that before rubbing his hands together and letting a decidedly manic grin overtake his face. "Okay! I want to multi-class into a warlock!"
"NO!" Hilde screamed, leaping from her seat (the chair toppling over to hit the floor with a bang) and practically grappling onto Duo despite the pilot's struggles against his girlfriend's rather impressive hold. "Like Hell anyone's going to give you access to Eldritch Blasts! We'll all die! I will not allow this!"
Quatre just looked confused...then blinked when he realized that he was not only no longer sitting in his chair, but was now in Trowa's lap with the other pilot firmly keeping an arm around him as if to shield the blond from the other pair now wrestling at the table. "Um...Trowa? I, um...I'm certain that I'm safe?"
"No." Was all Trowa said as he kept his arms secured around the blond. Heero and Wufei finally broke their glares away from the map to stare over at Duo struggling to break free of the standing full-nelson that Hilde had put the brunette in. As Duo and Hilde both let fly with strings of expletives and insults that would make most drunken soldiers blush and hang their heads in shame (really, the gathered group only just barely batted an eye) Heero looked at Relena. "What exactly did we just miss?"
"Hilde disagreeing about Duo's multi-class choices." Relena said with a small shrug of her shoulders before looking back at her notes and ignoring the chaos. "If you and Wufei are done trying to set the map on fire, can we start back up? I would like to get through this entire dungeon before my meeting this evening."
"Who is the meeting with?" Quatre asked, tilting his head to one side in curiosity. The diplomat's face hardened. "...a certain platinum blond nutcase whom I, unfortunately, have to refer to as my older brother for legal reasons that I still do not understand."
"Ahh. Godspeed." Was all Quatre said as Heero, Wufei, and Trowa shared a look of 'this dungeon is going to be Hell'. Wufei looked back at Hilde and Duo. "Will you two stop wrestle-molesting each other and sit down so we can roll dice already?"
With some reluctance, Hilde and Duo retook their seats and all eyes turned on Relena...who was glaring at her notes as if she could set them on fire with her mind. Or maybe...as if she were picturing setting a certain sibling of hers on fire with her mind. It could go either way. "It had taken time, yet now all of you stand before a massive stone door leading into the depths of what was once an underground fortress. The door itself is tall and wide, the ornate knotwork carvings on it smoothed by time, while the blocked doorframe boasts elegant scrollwork. The only light in the chamber is from your own torches. Outside the great cavern entrance, the wind howls as rain spills form the skies in great sheets of grey, leading to a frigid dampness seeping into your very bones."
Relena paused before looking up at the group. "Now...how do all of you want to proceed?"
Heero rested a fist to his chin in thought. "I want to examine the scrollwork around the door."
Wufei frowned, tapping his lower lip once before speaking. "And I will examine the engravings on the door."
Hilde grinned. "I will keep watch to make sure we don't get ambushed from behind."
Trowa shrugged in response. "I will assist Hilde's barbarian in keeping watch."
Quatre merely smiled from his position in Trowa's lap. "I want to help Heero and Wufei...if that's alright with both of you?"
The pair in question merely nodded (as if anyone would be crazy enough to dare to refuse Quatre anything and risk being on the receiving end of the blond's puppy-dog-eyes-of-doom) as Duo's expression broke into a wide grin. "I want to wander around the room we're in and see if there's anything interesting."
"Okay...Heero, Wufei, Quatre...roll for your respective checks. Duo...roll your check."
"19."
"16."
"17."
"...2."
"Okay...Your investigation of the scrollwork reveals an ancient warning in the old elvhen tongue that speaks to "abandon all hope all who enter these doors", while the investigation of the knotwork reveals that the knotwork 'tiles' on the door must be pressed in a sequence in order to open the doors...yet time has worn away all but two clues to what the sequence is. The only clues remaining are a symbol for '5' on the tile to the upper left, and a symbol for '3' on the tile to the lower right." Relena paused then looked at Duo before... "The bard, during his own investigation of the chamber, finds a large pyramid of perfectly picked cleaned and bleached skulls, perfectly stacked and centered in one corner of the chamber but nothing else."
"I wanna poke the-" Duo started only for Hilde to give her boyfriend a flat look. "Do not poke the skulls."
Again...blame the Nyquil if we must, but the Nyquil has rarely lead me astray.
