Remembering, very clearly and distinctively and wishing he did not, Danny eyeballed all the cows with distrust.

He'd picked out long sleeves and pants from the bag of old clothes to use as barn clothes gifted to him. If there was going to be any splatters, Danny was safe. Even shoved a stocking hat from the porch to cover his head even if the weather didn't at all call for one.

Sitting square in the middle of the alleyway, the furtherest one could get from them there, he squinted at all the swishing tails.

Not this time.

"Danny! Get to the side! We said we were switching!"

Jolted from his end watch, Danny spun and shot up off the dirty towel bucket. Switching? Sure enough, the cows at the start of the alleyway were backing out to head out.

Toward him.

In mass.

Yelping, he ducked back down over the towel buckets. And went intangible and invisible.

Crap!

"Danny!"

"I'm fine!"

Intangible and invisible and hadn't meant to and didn't want to and had they seen and so many huge animals surrounding him!

Nothing here cows, keep moving, please don't freak out!

"Cows are stupid! Just give one a smack on the back leg and they'll leave the barn like they're supposed to."

Not that stupid. They knew he was here. Danny slowly turned his head, a frown forming. They just kept...trying to nose and lick at him.

Huh.

Apparently he was just a curious piece of interest rather than a negative reaction.

Huh. Well.

This was welcome news from his caution in approaching these huge animals.

Reaching, stretching, Danny went back to being visible and tangible to give a loud smack.

"Yah!"

Jolting, the animal turned its head and continued, the rest of the cows following.

He grinned.

"Nice work! Did you step on McGee?"

Step on...one of the cows?

Danny shook his head at the ridiculous idea, grin still wide.

"McGee?"

"Yeah, Hissy McGee there."

Hissy...McGee? What the...? Hissy?

Except he did hear hissing. And spitting and spatting.

Slowly, Danny looked down and noticed the hair raising tiny fluff of a gray striped kitten. Huge black met his eyes.

And the thing leapt.

Screeching, Danny leapt back, trying to get the attacking kitten off his apparently very climbable pants.

Tiny they might be, kitten claws were very sharp. Went through clothes and tore at Danny's hands in his attempts to remove the little creature slipping through his grasp. McGee was tenacious and ferocious and a fast little thing.

Forget the cows!

Cat wins! Cat wins! Holy shit, this cat wins!

Hissing himself as he later cleaned his hands, Danny paused, an idea popping into his head.

...was there a way he could safely mail Hissy McGee to Vlad?
