ps: just some fixes nothing was added.
It was indisputably cruel.
How he yearned to go back home to his parents right now.
he hadn't realised that he zoned out until he caught sight of Pandora's abrupt shift in her expression.
A faint presence of grief had briefly crept onto her face, and before Subaru could grasp what caused that response, the emotion was once again buried by a veil of apathy that took the shape of a smile, no. That pitiful thing did not warrant such praise, it was but a crooked replicate of the genuine article.
a subtle spasm of the corner of her lips was all that lingered.
She cleared her throat and continued speaking "I shall commence with the archbishop of Lust Capella Emerada Lugnica, she took shelter in Gusteko, furthermore details about her precise stay will be in this notebook." She handed over a leather-bound journal containing pages upon pages of handwritten text, filled with information that seemed to be written in Japanese.
Subaru lifted an eyebrow in curiosity but settled against delving into that matter for the time being.
He snatched the book and flipped through its pages ravenously, he scanned everything hastily and without reticence. Then sheathed the book in a satchel that hung onto his belt, determining to survey it thoroughly at a later time.
"I take it this information will be worthwhile," Pandora said gently with a hint of humour. Subaru nodded, he resolved that it was the time to ask the question he feared the most.
"What about my parents?" He spoke softly, all the light in his eyesdimmed, allowingone to only see the visage of a man worn down by his regrets.
Pandora frowned as she sat abreast of him and gently settled her hand on top of his own to grant some relief.
Despite what her past actions would lead one to believe, she did not take pleasure in seeing people suffer, despite the moments of apathy that her authority forced upon her.
She did not wish for others to go through unfair and unreasonable misery.
But sensing something raw caressing his skin made Subaru withdraw back, it brought shivers down his spine.
He scowled at the woman who caused him this unexpected irritation.
He did not like to be touched. It was so sudden that it made him feel as if a batch of bugs were squirming inside beneath his skin. He needed to claw at the spot so desperately, but he would not, for the life of him, permit her to witness his show of fragility.
Pandora gave him a look of understanding as she retracted her hand and bowed her head slightly as an apology, but he could not care less.
He solely wanted to learn about his parents.
After watching him, judging that he was in a state adequate enough to listen to her words.
She disclosed"I can't give you any answers presently, nevertheless I assure you they're alive and well. I shall not divulge further information until you satisfy your part of the bargain, I am sincerely sorry Subaru." she apologized, offering him a small smile hoping to ease the air betwixt them.
The boy looked up towards her and stared deeply into her eyes.
he wanted nothing but to make her suffer the same burn he felt in his chest for making him wait after dangling the prospect of closure with his parents right in front of him, but he would be patient for once, after all, being rash has caused him nothing but hurt and shame.
"What do you want to know?" he asked bitterly.
"Well first off, how did you appear in our world?" She said imperturbably.
Subaru paused for a few moments to gather his thoughts, "I don't know, I really don't know." He said with a puff of dejection.
Pandora nodded sympathetically
Subaru continued "I have a theory... The one who brought me here is probably... the witch of envy, but... I don't know why, don't know anything! , why the hell did she bring me to this cursed dark Fantasy world! fucking dark souls difficulty! Why is everything conspiring to kill me in this world!" Subaru ranted, his frustration getting the better of him as he recalled his first days in Lagunica.
He died three times on his first day to this world.
It was a quite violent greeting, to say the least, however he would describe it in much more colourful words.
Pandora was silent as she considered his words. She wasn't particularly certain about what he intended by the remark *dark souls difficulty, but she understood that it was not the time to inquire about such.
Furthermore, she truly knew how it felt when everything seemed to go out of its way to make your life difficult. Even so, she would on no account will such a thing upon anyone else.
She opened her mouth wanting to say something but sealed it abruptly, deciding against it, "perhaps you should take a trek outdoors get some fresh air and arrange out your thoughts. I'll stay here for a bit and make preparations for dinner. How does that sound?".
Subaru nodded weakly, feeling drained due to all the emotions coursing through him, "Yeah ok" he said quietly.
Pandora smiled softly before she rose to her feet and walked to a bare wall and set her hand against it and a door appeared.
beyond the door was an old-fashioned kitchen, she went inside and made her way to the counter where there lay all sorts of kitchen utilities, pots as well as pans of varied sizes and fancy silverware there were even some that subaru couldn't recognize.
he wasn't that well versed in the art of cooking.
The witch eyed the tools with furrowed brows, suddenly as a thought crossed her mind, she clicked her finger and a book popped out of thin air, it was a cookbook.
She flipped through the pages and started reading it while humming a tune to herself.
Subaru, a witness to all of this, was standing in the doorway of the shed. While watching her, his face went through so various emotions at first, there was a slight curiosity followed by complete shock and at long last he resigned with a sigh and a blank face while muttering 'I'm getting tired of this magical bullshit. ' he turned around and left the shed.
The moment he stepped outdoors, his vision was assaulted by a scene so beautiful he had to pinch his hand to make sure he wasn't in heaven.
There were flowers of all colors known to mankind littered all over the shed. The flowers were striking to behold not only for their breathtaking bloom but also for their herculean size, they reached up to his hips.
Looking past the field of flowers, he noticed the trees. If he thought they were twice as big as regular ones while looking out the window now, he truly wasn't certain. for when he looked up he couldn't see the topmost of the trees, indeed the trees extended so tall that they reached the clouds. Subaru could only describe this site as {the Amazon Forest on steroids, magical steroids}. If that drug even existed in this world, knowing his luck it probably did and everyone in this world took it regularly, that would explain why normal Lagunian citizens could overpower him easily.
or maybe he was just weak.
no the drug definitely existed. He reassured himself.
If it wasn't already apparent Subaru was trying his hardest to not think of his parents, it's not as if he didn't have questions about them. He just wasn't sure he could handle the answers.
And on that topic, how did she know about them? How does she know about his world? How much does she actually know about him? Why was she acting so subservient to him? Was it an act or did she genuinely feel bad for him? Could he trust her? These and more questions swarmed inside Subaru's head.
He resolved that he would uncover her real intentions by their next talk. By the way, how long was this gonna last? He really missed his friends, specifically Emilia and Beatrice.
As he was lying down on the flower field getting lost in thought, a voice called out to him "albeit my cookery might be impaired by time, I think this humble maiden has made an adequate meal."
/author's notes
I'm in soo much pain and not the one I derive pleasure from, I lost a fucking ten thousand words file because I forgot to save, I had to recriate this chapter and probably the next by memory I am extremely ill tempered at this very moment.
I would appreciate some constructive criticism, though my policy on shit talking has not changed.
