A/N: More Navia family time! These are the same kids from the other drabble, although I didn't end up naming them in either one lol.
Prompt: "You did this! You're still doing it!" Navia (Dragonshost)
Juvia had come to appreciate many things about Natsu. One thing that surprised her was her admiration of his loud and somewhat childish side. As someone who was very withdrawn for most of her life, it was exhilarating to be around someone with so much natural enthusiasm.
This also led to him being quite well-liked by most children, as he was able to keep up and understand them in a way many other adults seemed to have lost touch with.
When they finally got around to having kids, she thought he would be a perfect fit. However…
"Hey, hold still! Don't squirm! Stop that!"
...parenting involved a lot more than just horsing around.
Juvia swallowed a laugh back as she watched her husband struggle with their four and one-year-old in getting dressed. The four-year-old ran around with her arms above her head, shrieking in delight at the shirt stuck halfway across her head. Meanwhile, Natsu was stuck staring daggers at the younger one, the shirt he'd just managed to put on now covered with spit-up all the way down the front. He scoffed at the baby, who smiled in the purest way possible.
"Hey! Hey you! Why are you looking at me like that?! You did this! In fact, you're still doing it!" Oh Mavis he sounded so incredulous. She put on a serious expression and turned to enter the room, pretending she hadn't been watching for a good five minutes beforehand.
"Natsu? How's it going? Are you almost ready?"
A pained expression crossed his face. "This one," he pointed at the baby, "hates me." The baby cooed at him.
"Aw, that's a shame."
"And that one," pointing at the still shrieking girl, "despises me." He hung his head mournfully. She went up and patted him on the back.
"Poor baby. Did you want me to take over?"
"No…" A spark of determination suddenly lit his face. "If I back out now...it'll mean they've won." Normally Juvia would have thought someone was joking if they said that about their own kids, but she knew from experience that Natsu was more than serious in his declaration.
Covering up another giggle with a cough, she tried to match his serious expression. "Alright, but I would like to leave before it gets dark, so keep that in mind."
"Roger that. I'll get everything all in order and then we can finally go." He gave a thumbs up and his trademark grin before staring down the baby yet again. "This lil' bugger should be running out of steam now anyways."
Giving no sign of that being the case, the baby babbled mirthfully at his father, who was now starting to grimace. Juvia gave him one more pat before strolling out the door, although she decided to stick close by in case things really did get bad. It certainly was ironic that Natsu always had more trouble out of the two when it came to things like this. Finally letting out a giggle, she wondered if it was because of the traits inherited through their father that made them so naturally chaotic...
