Akushi
Chapter Six
"I don't know what to do," Rena said so tiredly. I could hear her from inside the bedroom where I was laying with my eyes still shut. She was obviously awake now after our morning nap. I was not ready to get up, but I was interested in what she was saying. Who was she talking to?
"You need to let it go, Rena," her father said softly before I heard the sound of a mug landing on the table.
There was a long silence before Rena spoke again, but it was so soft I couldn't make out the words. "Keiichi-Kun will," she added.
She's talking about me? What could she possibly be going on about. I hoped it wasn't an embarrassing story of me as a child she got from my parents.
"You need to make the most of this trip," her father replied, then said something else I couldn't hear. After another long silence I heard the sound of the chair squeak when Rena's father stood from the table. "I'll see you this evening."
"Hm," was all Rena let out, and then the door shut. I wasn't sure what the conversation was, but Rena didn't sound too happy. Why was she sad?
I couldn't hear anything else, so I took this opportunity to climb out of bed before checking the time on the clock that was sitting on the nightstand. It was after ten. I still felt like I hadn't gotten enough sleep, but I definitely felt a lot better.
As I started down the hall, I heard Rena stand from her chair, bringing me to a holt. I waited a few seconds before I heard her pacing around. It didn't sound like she was getting into the cabinets so I wasn't sure what was going on.
AFter a few seconds she stopped, and there was a small silence. I waited close by before making my presence. As I entered the kitchen, Rena was standing and facing the window, so she didn't see me.
"Too close," she mumbled to herself. I could tell by her posture she was very distressed, which caught me off guard. Although, she had been acting weird days before we even got here. Something was bothering her and I needed to find out what. "Too close"? What's too close anyways?
