The demoness stood frozen as a glowing woman in white slid past her towards the macabre scene, eyes shining like beacons with white light. Others ran past her. A cat demon, a spider demon, two demonesses, one with a spear and one who looked terrified.
The exterminators looked up and also halted in their attack, limbs going slack in shock.
"You will stop this," Katherine's voice boomed like a thousand angels through the night, "This very instant."
They exchanged confused looks and tittered to each other. Alastor, barely conscious, looked in awe at his mother, her hair and dress swirling with some ethereal wind.
Two of the exterminators hovered in place, but floated forward and tittered at the angel in a language only she seemed to understand.
Is this a trick?
She smiled and shook her head. The exorcist blinked, surprised she understood. Moving closer and lowering it's weapon, it kept going, Why is an angel here?
"It's an experiment," she said softly. "And one you'll not get in the way of."
It made a squeak like a scoff. We're doing our job. We know not what you do but we do as we are supposed to.
"Not here," Katherine said, her glowing seemed to grow. "This is a hallowed ground now. You can do your business elsewhere but here will be protected."
The exorcist seemed to consider for a moment, swaying in thought as it floated. Finally it sneered. We don't take orders from you.
"Let's make a deal then," Katherine's voice seemed to soften slightly from the godly chords. She held out an outstretched hand and the demons behind her felt their breath catch in their throats. "Tomorrow I am confident you'll be receiving new orders from Michael himself regarding this place. Spare this demon now. And then I'll spare you failing to heed me. If I'm wrong, I'll deliver him back to you myself."
We already hunted one deal maker tonight. We are not afraid of you. As far as we're concerned, the addressing exorcist made a sign with his hand, ALL of you are fair game.
One of the exterminators behind him lunged in again at the fallen Alastor, but before the spear connected, Katherine flipped her outstretched hand palm up and it denigrate into a starry light. The other two regarded that for only a second before the one who had spoken to Katherine tittered angrily and brandished its spear at her. It moved to attack but as the spear grew closer a loud howl emitted from where Alastor laid prone, and shadows enveloped it, with a squeal it was pulled into a dark pool and was no where to be seen as the darkness receded. Katherine looked in surprise and felt her heart stop. Alastor's features were twisted and in-human, his macabre demon form, barley on his knees looking more animalistic and mangled from the effort as he tried to use his powers. He panted hard as their eyes met. He flashed her a forced showman's smile before it slid off his face and he slid down to the ground. Finally collapsing.
The final exorcist who had remained behind looked around the scene in horror. With something like a gulp it gave a nervous smile and a wave to Katherine before zooming off into the darkness.
The light began to fade from Katherine as she felt Husker run past her, shouting for help as he supported Alastor's head to lift him. The deer demon had not only faded from his demon form, he looked more human all together. The color of skin becoming less gray. The antlers seemed smaller, the red hair darkening to a dull auburn. Angel Dust with his many arms moved to help, playfully groaning of his heaviness to deaf ears. Vaggie, spear brandished moved with them, ready to stop any more oncoming enemies, finally satisfied, she got the door and directed them to the lobby coach.
Charlie, lightly touched Katherine's arm who jolted in shock, now the more familiar angel again. They didn't speak, their eyes said everything, and Charlie gently led her towards the door.
"Ummm...h..hey?" A small voice by the stairs made both of them heard. The demoness that Alastor had brought looked nervously at her feet. "He was...ummm...he said I could...can I come in?"
