Tobey and Dusty, who both were looking worse for wear since their exploits in the death trap maze, but they were eager to fight as both seemed to feel that this was their best chance at victory in the battle portions thus far.
"Let's hope you two can give us a great battle. Don't forget, you have thirty minutes to win it, let the battle begin!" Mato said as the gong sounded, then he left the two to fight.
"Why don't we settle this, nice and easy," Dusty said eager to fight and win, "time for a sand wall!" A massive sand cloud like a big wall around Tobey.
"Not bad.. but this isn't the first time I've dealt with sand like this," Tobey remarked, leaping into the air to get over the sand wall. He unleashed a barrage of attacks with his poison fingernails, scratching and clawing Dusty.
Dusty grunted and punched Tobey square in the face. This knocked Tobey off him, the punch did seem to phase the dog looking man. He was stumbling but was ready to attack.
"Just give it up you dog man!" Dusty shouted trying to get to him.
"No man. I lost once like this, and I will not lose again!" Tobey declared and again launched a barrage of attacks, punching and scratching Dusty until the blonde-haired thug fell to the ground in defeat.
Tobey let out a victory howl as the crowd cheered and shouted positive messages.
"That was wild man!" were the cheers from the Quattro Cerberus.
"You go dog man!" Natsu shouted in support, having battled with him a very long time ago.
"Well, that was a solid victory for Tobey from Lamia Scale!" Chopati Lola said.
"That dog man has put Lamia Scale into a very respectable third place with that victory as well," Mr. Yajima added.
"Indeed, this now leaves us with just one more battle for the day," Chopati Lola announced.
"This one should be a doozy, with Fairy Tail team B's Iron Shadow Dragon Gajeel battling SaberTooth's Celestial wizard Yukino!" Mr. Yajima said, adding to the hype.
Gajeel walked onto the field, with a strong air of confidence about him. He was eager to get a victory for team B.
Yukino was silent but confident as she strode onto the grounds of the arena, walking up to Gajeel, who couldn't help but smirk with confidence.
"Metalhead sure loves the crowd noise," Laxus complained from the team's suite.
"I'm sure it's just a degree of mind games," Bixlow said.
"Or he is trying to hide the fact he lost to Gray during the event today?" Freed added.
"Still, Yukino is no slouch. She did very well during the demolition man event" Bixlow added.
"Let's just hope he wins so we can keep up with Natsu's group," Laxus said before shuddering.
"I don't think any of us want to owe the others anything," Mira said.
"Indeed. For now I think they're starting," Cana added as the gong sounded to start the fight between the two wizards.
Gajeel started out the fight with a bang, "iron dragon roar" and the column of iron shot towards Yukino, who jumped with grace and elegance to dodge it. Gajeel turned to follow Yukino as she ran and dodged the attack. Gajeel finally stopped his roar, somewhat impressed she could dodge it.
"Not bad, only members of my guild and an Alvarez goon or two could avoid that attack," Gajeel said smugly.
"If that is the case, then I shall not hold back myself." Yukino said, followed by, "open, gate of the balance, Libra!" and once again the lightly clothed woman of the balance appeared.
"I will change the balance of the battle" Libra said, followed by "gravity change". Just like that, the gravity of the battlefield changed. Yukino seemed to move around with the grace of a feather and Gajeel moved around on the arena grounds like a boulder.
"Libra has certainly changed the gravity of the situation," Chopati Lola said, commenting on the situation.
"Indeed, it's going to be really tough for Gajeel to win this one," Mr. Yajima said.
Gajeel's mind began being flooded with options as he tried to dodge the attacks of Libra and Yukino.
"Gajeel's certainly on the ropes in this battle," remarked Laxus as he shielded his eyes from the setting sun with his hand.
"I'm sure he'll think of something." Bixlow added, before saying, "it's bad enough we're losing to Natsu's bunch, it's really gonna suck if we lose to Saber Tooth too."
"I'm sure he'll find a way to win," Freed said, "of course Laxus would win with one strike!"
"I did win with one strike, if you'll care to remember," Laxus retorted as Chopati Lola's voice boomed over the loudspeakers.
"Where is Gajeel? I've lost sight of him in the shadows of the arena." Chopati Lola said, his voice held hints of panic. "I can only assume he's used his shadow dragon powers to merge into the shadows of the arena," Mr. Yajima said.
By now even Yukino was panicked as she tried to look for Gajeel to try and predict his next attack. Before she knew it, she was having to fight off Gajeel's iron dragon lances that seemed to continue one after the other.
"Fine, if you want to play like that, I'll fight back." Yukino said. She pulled out a second golden key yelling, "open gate of the two fish, Pisces." Two massive eel like creatures slithered out..
They charged off after Gajeel in the shadows, but even then they struggled to find him. This emboldened Gajeel's attacks, next came an iron dragon roar.
The next attacks appeared like a flash, hard to describe and like a barrage of water from a flood. Roar, lance, kunai, roar again, and by now, Libra was taken out. Pisces were struggling too, and Yukino stumbling around. .
"Are you ready to give up now?" Gajeel asked the stumbling Yukino.
"I will never surrender to you," Yukino said bravely.
"Alright then, I hate to do this to you after we fought so bravely in the north during the Alvarez battle" Gajeel said, as he ran up and ultimately punched Yukino. Not a cold-blooded punch, but one that was necessary to win the battle.
Yukino then fell over and collapsed, surrendering to the iron shadow dragon slayer.
"What an amazing comeback by Gajeel, netting ten points for Fairy Tail team B!" Chopati Lola said, to a mixed roar of the crowd.
"As much as I wanted Gajeel to win for Fairy Tail, it hurts watching a fellow celestial wizard being beaten like that," Lucy said, rather dismayed.
"Ehh, I mean they needed to win to keep up with us. After all, at this rate we're either gonna have to throw a battle against them or do some manipulation in the final match to tie them again," Natsu said coldly.
"Secondly, given the choice, I'd rather not have to throw a battle against Laxus or Mira just to justify the tie for Fairy Tail," Natsu added, with quite the serious expression.
"We don't even know that we're gonna have to fight team B," Juvia said.
"No, it's fairly certain we're gonna have to fight team B before the end of the games" Gray said, adding, "and unless it's tomorrow, we are probably gonna fight on day five for the two-on-two battles" he finished.
"If it is day five, then hopefully Master Makarov will let us fight and let the true winner show up." Erza said ominously.
"Well, what do you know, metalhead won the battle after all." Laxus said, tongue in cheek.
"You should give him more credit," Zeldris responded. "Besides, didn't you lose to lady Erza?" as if to jab at Laxus's superiority complex forming around him.
"Well, if you're so much better, why don't we see you try and win the event and battle? Then since you seem to have such confidence," Laxus said, as if daring him to compete next.
Mira stepped in, as if the only one outside of Laxus's grandfather Master Makarov being the only one to hold him back. "Zeldris will only compete if the event justifies it or if the organizers say he should fight," she said. Her voice held a confident tone.
"Then it's settled," Laxus said, Zeldris nodded.
By now everyone was filing out of the coliseum, only Mira was left in the suite as she looked over to the main guild suite. She noticed Master Mavis and Makarov talking and the concerned looks both shared.
