Takashi, despite himself, could not help but breathe a little shallower as Nemesis began to step forward. Was he sure he could get the group off the school grounds and to safety? Not as sure as he had been half an hour ago.
"Everyone!" He shouted. "That one is really-"
He didn't have a chance to finish. He felt cold as he watched Rei lunge forward, thrusting the broken mop handle forward like the practice spears she was so used to handling in her sojutsu classes. Her form was perfect, her speed unmatched, and her aim without flaw. But even before the chipped end hit the mark, Takashi knew better than to think anything would come of it.
The handle pierced straight through Nemesis' chest. Takashi knew that a blow like that would have felled any human, and even a B.O.W. would stagger. But of course Nemesis was no ordinary B.O.W., and he certainly was no human.
Rei stood, trembling now, as Nemesis looked down at the shaft protruding from his body. He unceremoniously reached down with both hands, grabbing the wooden pole and snapping it. He stood tall, the point of the wrecked weapon still inside, and then wound up his arm for a full-powered punch. It was a second too slow, and Takashi moved just fast enough. The young man dove forward, grabbing Rei and bringing her down with him to earth with him. He kept rolling without thinking, and just barely tuned out the girl's gasps of pain.
"Saya!" He shouted. "Lead the others! Miss Shizuka! Kohta! Saek-"
Nemesis let out a loud, bloodcurdling roar, and Takashi swerved back up to his feet, Rei lying just behind him. He saw Nemesis swerve around, letting blood fly from the back of his head. The monster's teeth chattered as he swung both arms forward. Saeko wove to and fro, dodging every one of Nemesis' blows with just a split-second to spare. Takashi knew she already had a plan; just keep herself a bit of reach, keep luring the beast, strike him with her bokken when the opportunities arose, wear him down until exhaustion caught up with him. A plan worthy of the best swordsmen.
But he knew that different viruses created different Nemesises, so he rushed forward and made another lunge, this time aiming for the enemy's legs. The monster growled and hissed as it fell to the ground, but it did not let it's ferocity wane. It flung out with a kick; not the most it was capable of, but enough to knock the wind out of Takashi's lungs and practically send him flying away. It was at that point that another party came into play.
"Hyah!"
Hisashi moved forward, falling down on one knee as he held his fire extinguisher in both hands. He let it fall, slamming into Nemesis' face. The creature choked, but it still hissed and the jet-black eyes still rolled as the fire extinguisher was pulled back. Hisashi proceeded, grabbing hold of the nozzle and spraying the white fluid directly down on the face. Nemesis roared, but mustered the strength to grab Hisashi by the neck and lift the choking boy up even as it jumped back up on it's feet.
Before Nemesis could do anything else to Hisashi, before the fingers could crack the brittle neck, Saeko's bokken went flying through the air, bouncing straight off it's head. Before Nemesis could react, Takashi was back in action, taking hold of the falling bokken. Holding it with both hands, he put all his power into a single strike directly to Nemesis' right kneecap. The B.O.W. buckled and loosened his grip on Hisashi ever so slightly, but mustered enough strength to slap Takashi away.
And then Nemesis died.
The bullets came flying, piercing straight through his torso by the dozens. The monster was brought to his knees, and then another blast, this time produced by a slug, ripped straight through his head and left a gaping hole in it's wake. The monster fell to his knees, dropping Hisashi, before falling on his side like a stone.
Takashi whirled around. The man had come out of nowhere, a foreigner with tight pale skin, a muscled frame, and a buzzcut head. In his hands he held an assault rifle with an underbarrel shotgun mounted to the frame.
Chris Redfield. The man, the myth, the legend...and his father.
For a moment, the two stared at one another, as if time had frozen. And then Rei's voice cut through the air.
"Hisashi! Hisashi!"
Takashi whirled around to see Rei kneeling beside Hisashi, who's school jacket was completely soaked in blood. The bullets had gone straight through Nemesis and hence his captive.
Not sparing Chris another glance, Takashi rushed forward to be alongside Rei as Saeko, Shizuka, Saya, and Kohta stood in shock.
And Chris Redfield stood silently as well, having thought for sure until a few seconds past that Nemesis had already snapped the neck of the boy and would do the same to his own son.
It was an unimaginable mistake.
Worse than a rookie mistake...
Next up; Chris finds himself going with and against the gang as plans are thought up...
