"Hilbert! Hilbert!" Called out a younger Johanna as she roamed around the forest worriedly. She looked all around before she reached a small clearing. She saw her son sitting down in front of a metal tube next to a river "there you are! I was worried sick. Usually you'd be home by now"

Hilbert didn't answer which didn't surprise Johanna; Hilbert rarely focused on what's around him when he was making something. She approached her son calmly before asking "are you making another one of those gear toys?" Hilbert didn't reply "do you need any help?"

"I got it!" A younger Hilbert suddenly yelled out before realizing that Johanna was there "oh, hi mum"

"So, what did you make this time?" Asked Johanna with a smile. She helped her son make a lot of gear toys before so she was expecting something like that.

"A snow ball launcher" said Hilbert as he showed off that the tube is connected to a glass bottle of water and a magnifying glass

"So you're putting snow in that tube?" Asked Johanna with a smile as she raised a brow

"Nope. Look, it's empty" said Hilbert as he showed his mother that the tube only had a bit of water in a container, a fan and a lot of wires inside "now, look at this" he continued before pulling a cord that was connected to the inside of the tube. The result was...anticlimactic. The launcher only spewed out a bit of snow and some water for a tiny distance which bummed Hilbert out a lot. Johanna however, was shocked to see that

"How did it do that?" Asked Johanna curiously

"Magic from sunlight that the water should be able to keep in place for a bit of time and some signals from the wires with some air" said Hilbert dejectedly "and it all failed...miserably"

"C'mon, this is plenty impressive. You don't have to do everything in one go." said Johanna with a smile as she ruffled Hilbert's hair affectionately "now, do you want to go home and get something to eat?"

"Yeah...i guess"

"But I'm wondering, where did you get this idea?" Asked Johanna curiously as she and Hilbert walked home together

Hilbert took a long pause before answering "A really weird dream"

_-_-_

"Thoughtless idiot!"

"Afraid of his own shadow!"

"Danger addict!"

"Mole hermit!"

"at least hermits are wise!"

"at least i can lift more than a pencil!"

"I see you two made it back just fine" Said Johanna with a weak smile as she greeted her kids

"No thanks to her" Hilbert glared at his sister angrily

"I would've been fine without you!" Hilda glared back with equal intensity before she and Hilbert looked away with frowns on their faces

Johanna sighed before stepping between the two "okay, cut it out you two. There's no reason to fight." The two reluctantly complied with grumbles, not wanting to fight with their mom there

The two then went and got changed before going back to the living room to do their own thing

_-_-_

"Hilda! Hilbert! I made us some tea!" Said Johanna as she entered the living room with the tea as Hilda was on the couch with her deerfox Twig and Hilbert was on the floor checking Spark's coding using a small computer the size of a pencil case made just for checking and editing code

"Ooh, tea" said Hilbert excitedly as he shut the computer and headed to Johanna to get a cup of tea

"I am seriously appreciating the-" said Hilda happily after she taking her cup of tea from Johanna, but she was cut off by the some whistling noise. The three stared at it's source, the door before it was opened by Woodman

"Oh it's the Woodman" said Johanna with a frown as Woodman passed by her and went to the fireplace after placing a few pieces of wood next to it "you might as well just go in without knocking"

"Rude." Deadpanned Hilbert not getting a reaction from Woodman "remind me why i can't just put a lock on the door again."

"Hey! he probably just wants to get warm." countered Hilda angrily as she crossed her arms, glaring at her twin "he's made of wood"

"I can push him into the fire and he'd be warm for the rest of his life." Said Hilbert with a smile

"Because that would end his life!" Retorted Hilda angrily

"That's the poin-"

"You should really close that door" said Woodman gaining everyone's attention "and please stop fighting, again. You're just spinning in circles and getting nowhere...again."

The two glare at each other one final time before Hilda decided to go close the door. Hilbert rolled his eyes and began drinking his tea until he heard a knock on the door.

Hilbert turned around quickly to see who it was, but there was no one there. He saw Hilda crouch down to to pick up something off the ground "there's another one of those tiny letters!" Said Hilda

"Good grief! This is the sixth one in a week." Said Johanna as Hilda went back in and gave her the letter. Johanna pulled out a magnifying glass before opening the letter

"They really need to stop. They aren't even stating the reason for the eviction" said Hilbert with a frown

"From the tiny people again? Are they still saying we should move or they'd smash our house or stuff, again?" Asked Hilda in disappointment

"Basically" replied Johanna as she looked at the notice paper

"Who are these people?" Said Hilda with clear discontent as she got to a table

"More importantly is why do they want us to leave?" said Hilbert with a frown, already knowing who the tiny people are

"Well, they're tiny" said Johanna with a frown "and they don't like us very much"

"Well, i don't like them" said Hilda angrily as she began writing a letter to the tiny people

"Are you really gonna write a letter?" Asked Hilbert raising a brow and all he got was a firm nod.

Hilda quickly wrote a letter before putting it in front of the door with a loud call to the tiny people which got Woodman to leave "finally, that guy left." Said Hilbert

Hilda soon returned and layed on the couch before noticing a game board on the table "let's finish our game of dragon panic!"

"Ooh, i can finally win and rub it in your face!" Said Hilbert excitedly as he jumped on the couch

"We'll see about that" replied Hilda with a confident smile

"*sigh* your little competition is making me feel a bit left out" said Johanna as she headed to the couch with a weak smile "so, who's turn was it"

"Mine" replied Hilda as she grabbed the dice excitedly before shaking it and throwing it on the table. Hilbert didn't object, knowing that it was really her turn.

They played until they all fell asleep and Spark plugged themselves into the house and started charging

_-_-_

The three family members woke up in the middle of night by a message on TV from the little people.

Soon, their house was being destroyed by the tiny people. Items were flying everywhere. The three huddled on the couch to avoid getting hit

""Alright! That's enough!"" Said Hilbert and Hilda in union before Hilda picked up a broom and Hilbert picked up a super powerful hair dryer before the two kicked the little people out

"And stay out!" Yelled Hilda as Twig ran up to her before she pet him

"Finally found a use for that hair dryer" said Hilbert with a frown as Spark turned into a ball and rolled towards him. Hilbert picked them up and headed inside, Hilda did the same.

"They're gone!" Said Hilda to her mom before realizing the chaos that the living room was in "oh boy"

"We can't stay here, you two" said Johanna still in shock from the attack before she started gathering some of the destroyed objects "not if this keeps happening. We've never been attacked like this. I think we'll have to move to Trollberg"

"But we've been here for all time, since me and Hilbert were born" pleaded Hilda

"Moving into the city could be a good thing, you two could make some proper friends" replied Johanna

"I wouldn't get along with people in the city!" Added Hilbert, not wanting to go to Trollberg knowing some of the things there "i genuinely would rather Woodman"

"Yeah, we love it here in the wilderness. It's literally better in every way" pleaded Hilda, letting out the puppy eyes with Twig "please, mum. I don't want to live in the dirty old city"

"I know i don't leave the house much" pleaded Hilbert "but i like the emptiness of this place"

"*sigh* it's nice to see you two agree on something" said Johanna with a smile that soon was replaced by a downcast expression "but I'm sorry. If something like this happens again; we're gone"

A look of determination spread across Hilda's face. She quickly started writing a new letter and quietly left it in front of the door

Hilbert genuinely hoped they could stay in the house. The quietness, the empty space and lack of people was nice; but he doubted he could do much, he couldn't stop a the midnight giant and his lover after all, and it would horrible if he stopped them from meeting. Regardless, Hilbert went to bed and drifted into the darkness of sleep
