"AAAAAAH!" Hilbert cried out as he woke up in the middle of the night "haah haah."
Spark, who was alerted by Hilbert's sudden screaming, quickly ran up to his creator. The robotic goat hamster let out a few zaps between their horns, asking Hilbert how he's doing.
"I'm fine, Spark...I'm fine." Said Hilbert still panting from his nightmare "i...just need to find a way to stop that marra from getting into my dreams."
This wasn't the first time these nightmares happened, but this was the time that he got fed up with them.
Spark looked confused as to what this marra had to do with Hilbert's nightmares and Hilbert could see that and explained in the most simple way possible.
"She's a spirit of nightmares." said Hilbert, trying to avoid saying any sensitive information while the marra could still be close by "and i need to find out how i can keep her out. Now, let's scan my brain for any residual energy from the marra. We can start from there."
Spark nodded before they and Hilbert got working. The two worked all night without stop, making something that'd keep the marra away for now.
Soon, using the magical energy of the marra and her weakness of being unable to phase through leather belts, he was able to make an invisible barrier around his home that stops the marra from getting inside.
The next night, the marra couldn't enter and was successfully blocked out. All he had to do was keep the barrier running every night until the marra episode ends.
Hopefully, he managed protected himself from any nightmares without changing the story...but now he felt bad for Hilda.
She will have to fight her fear for her friend. He only dealt with some random scary stuff since the marra did not know his greatest fear and it was still awful to go through. He couldn't imagine how hard it'd be for her.
Perhaps, he could help her a little; help her overcome her fear early so she wouldn't suffer. It wouldn't be changing the story, just changingone tiny detail.
Surely it wouldn't change much, would it?

A few days later
"Okay, just like we practiced." Said Hilbert reassuringly as he held his sister who was riding a bike.
Hilda took a deep breath before wearing a determined expression. She nodded to Hilbert's words before she began cycling forwards on the road. As she struggled, Hilbert who was wearing some self driving roller skates, spoke to her.
It's been a few days and Hilbert dedicated himself to getting his sister to overcome her fear of riding bikes through them. At first, they practiced in a small area where she could practice without falling too much and now they finally made it to actually riding it on the road.
"C'mon, you jumped off a cliff that one time. Riding a bike shouldn't be that much if a problem." Said Hilbert crossing his arms with an unamused expression
"Yeah, but i was still on my feet!" Hilda retorted angrily as she cycled unconsciously
"C'mon, it isn't that hard." Hilbert rolled his eyes
"That's easy for you to say! Those things drive themselves!" Said Hilda angrily, glaring at Hilbert's roller skates "It's much harder than it looks."
"Really, it looks easy to me." Asked Hilbert with a smile as he pointed at the bike she was riding
It took a few seconds for Hilda register what her brother meant, but when she did she was quite astonished. She was riding it without a problem! It wasn't long before Hilda actually starting enjoying how her now overcome fear.
It's only been a few days since she started practicing and she was already cured of it. It made Hilbert feel happy that he could finish this before his sister inevitably had to face the marra.
"See? It's easy." Said Hilbert with a proud smile before his roller skates hit a rock, causing him to fall off "ow. That hurt."
"Hilbert!" Hilda instantly stopped to check on Hilbert and once she saw him and was sure that he's okay, she couldn't help but snicker at his misfortune.
"Not a word." Deadpanned Hilbert before he got up while wincing from the pain
"Are you okay?" Asked Hilda in slight worry as she helped her brother up
"Ow, been better" said Hilbert as he dusted his clothes. Luckily, they were moving slowly, so he didn't fall too hard.
"Hilbert! Hilda!" Said a familiar voice loudly. The twins turned to the source of the voice to see a familiar cheery red head "hello! How are you doing?"
"Just tripped and fell, so as good as i can be" said Hilbert with a frown
"Was it bad?" Asked Vivian wincing with an awkward smile
"Not really" added Hilda with a shrug and a smile
"Hey! I was still hurt." Retorted Hilbert with a frown
"You could get hit by the softest pillow in all the whole world and be hurt" said Hilda, rolling her eyes
"*sigh* Shouldn't you be meeting up with your friends soon?" Asked Hilbert with a frown
Suddenly Hilda remembered that "Oh, nearly forgot about that!" She said in realization as she turned to Hilbert and Vivi. "Got to go, sorry"
"Yeah, never wanted you here anyway." Said Hilbert cheerfully
Hilda gave her brother an unamused expression before cycling away to David's house where she was meeting up with her friends.
"Do my eyes fool me? Shouldn't Hilda be scared of bikes at the moment?" Asked Vivi in confusion as she watched Hilda leave. "Do you have anything to do with that?"
Hilbert cleared his throat "I may or may not have...helped her through it." he said with an awkward smile.
"What happened to not changing the story?" asked Vivian in curiously "I'm not against it, just curious."
"I'm not changing the story; I'm just changing a few details to make everything go by smoothly." said Hilbert crossing his arms.
"Aww, you don't your sister to enter a horrible nightmare. You're such a softie." Said Vivi happily as she patted his head.
Hilbert pushed her hand away quickly "let's just go already." He said with a scowl as he trudged forwards
Vivi blew a raspberry "all right, you're no fun" she said as she followed him
Hilbert playfully punched Vivian's arm in retaliation, causing her to laugh. It wasn't long before they made it to Hilbert's home together.

At Hilbert's house
After saying hi to Johanna, who got worried after hearing about Hilbert falling onto the road and having her check him to see no significant injuries, the two reincarnated kids went inside Hilbert's room and shut the door behind them.
"You know, your room is a lot less futuristicy than it should be." Said Vivi as she entered Hilbert's room and looked around too see that it was quite normal looking.
Hilbert just shrugged as he put away his roller skates "i like it this way."
"Is that a hoverboard?" Asked Vivian as she saw a skateboard without wheels in the corner
"Yup, you can use it if you want. Just don't take it out of the room. Mom would kill me if she saw that thing being used outside again." Hilbert said as he remembered his mother's angry face from the last time he used the hoverboard.
"What happened?" Vivian asked curiously
"Well..." Said Hilbert sheepishly as he scratched the back of his head. But before he could say anything else, Spark entered the room saying something that scared Hilbert "oh no, we need to fix it."
"I think i got some of that. Something about a generator being broken?" Said Vivian as she focused on Spark's words.
"I'll tell you on the roof." Said Hilbert as he quickly pulled her with him
This could be bad.

"So you mean to tell me that you have something to ward off the marra completely and you plan on hiding it from everyone?" Said Vivian in shock
"Yes, *sigh* It's just that the marra kept terrorizing me in my sleep and i had to keep her out somehow!" Said Hilbert in distress as he fixed the barrier generator that was broken by a bird "i couldn't hold on any longer!"
Vivian seeing Hilbert's distress took a deep breath "what if Hilda sees it?"
"It's camouflaged and silent. She'll probably ask me to help her deal with the marra. We'll do it just like the episode and nothing else will happen, then i can remove it. And even if she somehow does see it, i can lie about it's usage."
"That just feels...wrong" said Vivian dejectedly as she sat down on the roof
"...i know" replied Hilbert dejectedly
Vivian couldn't help but sigh. They were stuck between a rock and hard place. All because they wanted to keep the story how it is.
"Do we really have to keep the story as it is? What's so wrong with changing it" Asled Vivian tiredly as she flopped unto the roof
"They might not be ready for dangers in future episodes if we do. You've seen what i saw, Vivi, you know how dangerous it'll be."
"Urgh! I haven't even seen all of them! I've died before i could see the last two episodes! Does it matter that much?!"
"Neither have i, but that only makes it more necessary. I don't want Hilda to die" Said Hilbert with a sad frown "or Frida or David."
The two sighed before going silent, trying to figure out what they should do.
"Remember that episode where David dies in one day and that time Hilda dies twice to the time worm?" Vivi asked with a weak smile as Hilbert winced as he remembered "it looks like they'll have to take a few hits for the story"
"Yeah" said Hilbert dejectedly
"Are we really doing nothing when we can just stop it all?"
"And risk them dying for real when we're not around?" Said Hilbert before sighing "It's the best thing we can do. It's for the greater good...the greater good."
Spark watched as the scene unfolded, it irked them to see them like this, but what could they do? Hilbert and Vivi don't speak of the story in detail even when they're alone.
All Spark could do was wait and help when needed. A feeling of helplessness fell upon them.
Will this all truly turn out okay or will is turn into a catastrophe?

Leave a review, it doesn't have to be important. Just anything. I enjoy seeing them.
Toodles.
