That's how their summer started out with a big bang. Their friend with an injury and chaos followed everywhere they went. But it wasn't anything out of the ordinary of course. To them, that was perfectly normal.
Maybe not for some, but hey. It could've been worse.
Crazy shit happened for half the summer until it got even crazier. Minho and Newt were the odd ones out of the group because they had lived in this neighbourhood their whole life.
Everyone else had moved here pretty recently. Thomas and Alby were best friends. Thomas was also best friends with Minho, and Gally. Thomas had a lot of best friends and not many were sure if it was a bad or good thing.
Thomas would consider Brenda to be a close friend, though. Ever since around the time school was ending, she had hung out with him more often and realized that Brenda was actually a cool person. Not to mention the fact that she was fairly pretty.
Brenda liked close contact and was always hugging people. It was normal for her and whenever she hugged Thomas (and just Thomas alone) he felt good inside. Well, except Brenda hugged Teresa. They were best friends, so it was okay for them to hug.
Then one day, the bottle exploded.
The bottle was the Glader's emotions. (Read: Teresa, Thomas, and Brenda's) And it was all Minho's fault.
The day it happened was a nice day. The sun was shining, there were no clouds in sight, it wasn't a hot day, but it wasn't cold, the flowers were all bloomed, half of their summers had gone by quickly and unproductively, it was perfect weather to be outside.
But the Glader's decided to go inside Brenda's basement. In the brunette's basement, there were two big-ass bean bag chairs. One purple, the other pink. One cushioned grey chair, perfect for one person and one person only, the floor was carpeted, there was a yoga mat for extra sitting, and a big T.V. that had literally all the streaming apps on it.
Everyone just liked Brenda's house in general. Plus, she always had food and when it came to food, the Gladers were like desperate beggars on the street, but worse. In fact, it was safe to say they acted like savages. No offense to savages of course.
SO, everybody was seated happily in Brenda's basement. Brenda had went upstairs to get some snacks and she came back with fruit roll ups and chips. She handed it out to everyone and took a seat beside Thomas who was scrolling through his phone-like everyone else-boredly.
"What are you doing?" Asked Brenda with no emotion of her features. Thomas said nothing and showed her his light blue phone case. Thomas was on Imessage and he had put in his own number, but he swapped out one of the digits with a different number.
He said nothing and pressed call. A girl on the other side picked up. "Hello?" She asked, caution laced in her tone. "Hey, baby girl," Thomas slurred. "Uh, do I know you?"
From the other end of the phone, Thomas moaned. "Just like that... feels so good... mmm..." Now, he wasn't actually doing anything of course, he just wanted to see the girl's reaction.
The whole of Brenda's basement fell silent and people were staring at Thomas with questioning looks. Brenda tried not to laugh and Thomas gave them all a silent finger to his lips, signaling for their silence. Thankfully, Brenda's friends obliged, not ruining the prank.
"Sorry, do you have the right number or...?" Thomas stopped making noises and spoke to the girl on the phone. "Hey, I just wanna tell you that I love you and that you mean the world to me. I.. I don't know what I would do without you, man."
"Are you drunk? High?" The squeaky voice asked. Thomas giggled and said, "no, of course not, baby!" Minho decided to join in on the prank. He started murmuring inappropriate things into Thomas' ear, but just loud enough for the caller to hear as well.
Before the girl could speak, Newt ended the call and Alby took the phone away. "What the hell was that?!" They both shouted simultaneously. Thomas and Minho cackled.
"It was a prank call, slinthead? WhAt else?" Newt sighed and ran a hand through his hair. Alby rolled his eyes. "To be honest, that was kinda funny..." Gally stated, earning a glare from Frypan and Alby.
"What if you guys were caught?" Teresa asked. "Klunk! My parents are upstairs!" Brenda exclaimed. Right on cue, Brenda's mom came downstairs. "Hey, Brandee..." Teresa chuckled nervously.
"What are you doing, mom?" Brenda asked. "I thought I heard some weird noises coming from down here? Nothing bad happening, right kids?" Brandee tried to pass her comment off as casual, but it didn't really work because Thomas blushed and turned the other way.
"I thought I heard Thomas as well," Brenda's mom continued. "Maybe," interjected Newt with a shrug. "I mean, knowing Tomm-Thomas, he always is yelling and complaining 'bout life, so that's possible."
Newt gave Brenda's mom his best innocent smile. All the parents fell for it. They all thought Newt was an angel sent from heaven, but he was far from it. Far, far from it.
Yes, Newt was kind and all, but he could be a downright devil at times with a very, very dirty mind.
"Okay, well, that's... have fun, kids," Brenda's mom said gawkily, making her way upstairs.
Brenda and her friends waited for the older lady's footsteps to fade away before they all burst into laughter. "What the fuck!" She screeched at Thomas. "Are you crazy? And you too, Minho! My mom could've heard! If Newt weren't here, we would've gotten in SO much trouble!"
Minho and Thomas at least had the decency to look somewhat guilty. "But you gotta admit... it was kinda funny," Frypan said. Brenda and Alby shot him a cold glare. "Oh god! I'm gonna get grounded because of you guys! What if my mom finds out the truth..." Alby muttered to himself.
They decided the safest thing to do was watch television.
But then Minho got bored and then a bunch of shit came loose.
"Let's play a fun little game," the Asian had proposed. Everybody groaned, Brenda being the loudest. "Remember that childhood game truth or dare, ya shanks?"
Everyone nodded. "Well, we played a lame version with a bad dare being like ding-dong ditching, I mean, don't get me wrong, those are fun, but, why not we, as a group, play a spiced-up version, yeah?"
Silence.
"And if you refuse to do a truth or dare, you have to remove one article of clothing/accessories." "Do we have to strip?" Asked Chuck, suddenly feeling a little bit self-conscious. Minho shrugged.
"How about, if you don't feel comfortable stripping, you can do the 'Shakira, Hips Don't Lie' challenge?" Suggested Teresa. "Good that," Newt replied with a breath of relief. As did everyone else.
And so they played.
"Truth or dare, Teresa?" Newt asked first. "Dare..?" Her answer came out more like a question. "Alright then, I dare you to let me blindfold you, then, I will label everyone here- except me of course, and they all kiss you and you will tell us which person kissed you best. Then, the person you picked will reveal who they were. Does that make sense?"
"I guess?" "Good that," and then Newt proceeded to blindfold Teresa. "Do you mind waiting upstairs?" The blonde boy asked after tying up Teresa with a red bandana. Teresa headed upstairs-with the blindfold on.
Newt labeled everyone next. Gally was 1, Frypan was 2, Chuck was 3, Alby was 4, Minho was 5, Thomas was 6, and Brenda was #7. "You can come down now!" Newt hollered from the basement.
Brenda heard footsteps and then she saw Teresa tumble down the stairs; half summersaulting, half belly-sliding. "Oh my god! Are you okay?!" Brenda Despain exhorted. Teresa managed a shaky laugh. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just blind, now let's continue the dare."
"Calling subject 1!" Newt announced and Gally made his way towards Teresa. He gave a quick kiss on the lips; just long enough to have the taste of his lips known, but not long enough for it to be awkward and weird.
"Subject 2!" Frypan stepped forward and god, it looked so awkward for him. From what Brenda could tell the both of them both wanted the kiss to be over as soon as possible.
"3!" Chuck quickly pecked Teresa on the lips and scurried back to his spot, his already flushed cheeks even redder than before.
"Number 4!" Alby didn't even kiss Teresa. His lips barely touched hers; just merely ghosted it.
"Calling number 5!" Minho gave what was a little more than normal kiss, but that was just Minho who over exaggerated everything, so technically, it wasn't that abnormal. Their kiss was just a bit more passionate than everyone else.
"Six!" And then Thomas stepped forward and Brenda's heart sped up. Thomas kissing her best friend! Oh no way in hell would she like that! When Thomas placed his god-forbidden, sexy lips on Teresa's, Brenda tried very hard not to let out a little screech; especially when things got a bit more heated. Brenda never thought 10 seconds could be so apprehensive.
"Subject seven!" It was Brenda's turn. With a small sigh, she swiftly kissed her best friend and when she pulled away, she just realized she had an indirect kiss with Thomas. This time, she couldn't hold back any noise and let a giggle escape her mouth.
"Can I take this stupid blindfold off now?" Teresa complained. "Go ahead," Newt approved. "Now, who. Was. The. Best. Kisser?" Brenda demanded. Teresa didn't hesitate to say number six. Which meant it was Thomas.
Of course it was Thomas! It was always Thomas! Stupid, stupid, stupid, and dumb Thomas! THOMAS! Brenda didn't even realize she was clenching her fists so hard until Alby pointed it out.
Brenda was at loss for words. "W-why does it matter if I'm clenching my fists. Why are you being so nosy, Alby? Whatever, let's just continue the deficient game."
They played a few more rounds like that. Thomas had to leave a voice mail for an ex that was R-rated. Chuck fed Newt M&M's and each time he ate one, Newt had to say "thank you, daddy", and Minho had to try to put on one of Brenda's bathing suits-much to her displeasure.
Gally had to tell everyone the weirdest place he'd gone to solo, Frypan had to let everyone cook him something disgusting and he had to eat it, Chuck also had to tell everyone when he got his first kiss and he said that it was today, and Alby had to reveal his crush who was some girl in his homeroom at school.
Somehow, no one ended up stripping.
Brenda still hadn't went, so when Alby asked her truth or dare, she chose. truth. "Okay, who is your... crush?" He asked warily, as if the black boy wasn't sure what to say, and truth be told, he really didn't.
Brenda's face immediately went red and she started to protest. "B- but, I... hugabguashishoshishushumo." "C'mon! It's not that hard!" Denounced Alby. Frypan snorted. "Says the one who took like 25 hours saying his crush! Who we don't even know!"
Alby shot him a glare.
"Fine!" Brenda cut in, "you're all gonna regret this. Especially you, Alby. I... I might like T-Thomas." "Gimme my money!" Newt shouted, pointing an accusing finger at Minho.
A/N: Okay, so here's to chapter 3! Oh god, this took a long time to write. I'm sorry about that.
