Side Effects [Intimate Moments Collection]

The melodious tune filtered throughout the dimly lit bedroom, thus waking the couple from the slumber they had been peacefully consumed by since the late-night hours. Olivia rolled over and was all prepared to go back to sleep, until she didn't feel her husband move to turn off the alarm himself - considering it was his alarm to wake up for work.

She nudged him a little, causing him to grumble as he squeezed her tighter. She nudged him yet again as she rolled onto her back, and her brow furrowed when she realized that he was pretty much still dead to the world.

"Edgar," she nudged him yet again, causing him to groan quietly; "Babe...wake up; your alarm is going off."

Edgar opened his eyes a little but Olivia could tell that he was exhausted. He briefly rolled over to shut off his alarm, then he laid on his back while dragging his hand down his face. "Goddamn; why do I feel like I've been hit by a truck?"

"And no offense, but you look like it too," Olivia then reached over and pressed her hand to his forehead; "And you're warm; what the hell, babe?" She pushed herself out of bed and went to their ensuite, only to return some moments later with a thermometer. She climbed onto the bed with the thermometer in hand; "Open."

Edgar laid there for a moment as he allowed her to take his temperature, and he groaned a little when he saw that he had a low grade fever. Olivia put the thermometer aside and simply looked at him; "So are you gonna call out from work or do you want me to do it for you?"

"Liv, I need to go to work, baby."

"You do not need to go to work like this," she brushed her thumb over his brow then kissed his forehead; "Look, you just got the second dose of the vaccine yesterday and I think it's hitting you today, so I think you need to rest."

Edgar knew that she was right, especially since his whole body felt heavy and he couldn't even sit up properly. He groaned a little as he reached over and grabbed his phone, and within minutes he was talking to his boss and explaining why he wouldn't be into work today. He then hung up and tossed his phone aside before looking at Olivia, who was looking at him with her lip poked out.

He sighed a little; "Liv-"

"I'm staying home to make sure you're okay."

Edgar looked at her and shook his head. He should have known that this was coming. "Go to work, baby; I'll be fine."

He also knew that when Olivia was determined, there was no talking her out of something. He surely wasn't surprised when she replied with;

"I'm taking Noah to school then I'll be back; Fin will hold down the fort and call me if necessary."

Edgar couldn't help but laugh a little; he should've known. All he could do was lean up a little and give her a kiss while mumbling a quiet "Thanks baby." Olivia gave him a smile and another quick kiss, then tucked the covers around him some more before slipping out of bed.

Edgar ended up falling back to sleep for a good while, completely unaware of the time passing as the morning went on. He didn't even really know when Olivia left to take Noah nor did he know when she came back. He simply woke up again around ten, and he actually felt worse than he did earlier.

He managed to drag himself out of bed, and he simply rubbed his eyes as he slowly made his way out of the room in just his sweats. Sunlight was flooding their apartment, leading him to blink a couple times as he made his way further down the hall to the main area. Olivia was sitting at the island counter in their vast kitchen, hard at work with her laptop open and a couple files spread across the surface.

"You look busy." he quietly spoke, thus capturing her attention. She took off her glasses before standing up;

"What are you doing outta bed?"

"I wanted a drink...and my wife." he quietly replied. Olivia simply giggled a little as she helped him to sit down on the stool, then she simply stood between his legs and wrapped her arms around his neck. He was still a tad bit taller than her even though he was sitting, but it was at least manageable.

She leaned in and gave him a couple little kisses, thus earning a small smile from him as he gazed at her. She smiled back and stroked her fingers over his cheek, then kissed his nose before making her way around to the fridge. She opened the door and studied the contents as she spoke; "We have water, orange juice, grape juice, cranberry apple juice, diet Pepsi. What do you want?"

"I'll take the orange juice, babe."

Olivia simply nodded as she moved around the kitchen. She poured some orange juice for him and grabbed a bottle of water for herself before coming back around to him; "Come on, take your juice and let's get you back to bed."

Edgar took a swig of juice before looking back at her; "Come with me?"

"I'm working, babe."

The little pout she received in response was something Olivia couldn't even bring herself to say 'no' to. She simply laughed and kissed his cheek before speaking; "Well I guess I can take a break; come on."

Edgar playfully punched the air, thus earning another laugh from Olivia. He then stood up and headed back towards their bedroom while loosely holding her hand. He kicked the door shut behind them, and after putting his juice down onto the bedside table, he climbed back into bed. Olivia climbed in on her side and simply propped herself up on her elbow while looking at him. He was laying on his back and looking at the ceiling, though he still looked super tired.

Olivia lightly stroked her fingers over his brow; "Do you want me to make you some soup, or go grab some from our favorite Chinese place?"

"I'm not even hungry, baby; I'm good." he replied. The thought of food right now made his stomach churn and he wondered if that too was a side effect: no appetite.

Olivia placed her hand to his forehead, only to find that he was still a bit warm. She reached to the side of her for the thermometer to take his temperature again, and she sighed a little when she saw that he still had a low grade fever. She pushed herself to sit up properly and said; "I'm getting you some Tylenol and I'm making you some toast."

"Babe-"

"You need to eat, at least so you can take something for the fever," she told him; "If you don't want soup, you at least need some toast.

Edgar wasn't sure if he could stomach anything at all right now, but he also knew that she was right. He snuggled under the blankets some more and nodded his head, and Olivia simply kissed his cheek before making her way back out of the room to the kitchen. Edgar watched her go, a soft smile on his lips as he did so. God how he loved that woman, and God how blessed he was to lay claim to such a beautiful, caring human being.

Some minutes later, Olivia returned with two slices of toast and some Tylenol, as well as a bottle of water. Edgar sat up and took the plate from her, and she proceeded to pour two Tylenol tablets into his hand as well before joining him in bed again. "Eat, then take those; we gotta make sure that fever doesn't get worse."

"Babe, I honestly think it's just a side effect of the vaccine."

"I'm sure it is, but let's just keep it under control," she shuffled closer and leaned her head on his shoulder; "I'm not used to seeing you all run down and in bed; you're usually either at work or working out or something. I don't like this." She stuck her lip out adorably, and Edgar simply chuckled a little as he nibbled on the toast.

"Well don't you worry, I'll be back to normal before you know it." he turned just enough to kiss her head, then he carried on eating the toast as they relaxed in a comfortable silence.

Edgar managed to eat a whole slice of toast and half of the other, and after chasing the Tylenol down with some water, he laid back down again. Olivia laid down with him, though she allowed him to rest his head on her chest as they relaxed together. She had their television on low and simply caught up on some daytime television while Edgar continued to relax against her as he was too tired to do anything else.

It wasn't long before Edgar was asleep again, his strong arms locked around Olivia's torso and his head snuggled against her chest. Olivia tried to move as she did need to go do some more work, but when she did move a little, Edgar tightened his grip on her. Olivia quietly laughed to herself; she should've known that he wouldn't let go of her even in his sleep. She decided that work could wait, and so simply kissed his forehead before relaxing back against the pillows once more as her husband slept peacefully in her arms.

The morning passed and afternoon rolled in; it was a little past one o'clock when Edgar flicked his eyes open again. He stretched a little and wiped his hand over his forehead; he was burning up but this time not from the fever. This time, the blankets over his body were proving to be far too much for him to deal with as a thin film of sweat covered his skin. That was a clear sign that his fever had finally broken.

"Goddamn." he mumbled as he moved back onto his pillow. He blinked a couple times to get his bearings, and it dawned on him then that he was feeling better than he had done earlier. He felt a little stronger, and his head was a lot clearer than before. He then looked to the side of him only to find that Olivia was fast asleep, one arm above her head and the other now resting across her own stomach. She looked peaceful as she slept, and Edgar took a moment to quietly soak in her beauty. She was all glossy hair and plump lips and just all around beautiful, and he was so grateful for her and all the love she gave him on a regular basis.

He shuffled closer and kissed her neck and shoulder, then slowly trailed kisses up her jaw until he reached her lips. He kept kissing her until she groaned quietly, and he smirked a little when he felt her hand come to rest on his bicep as she finally reciprocated one of the kisses.

As sleep started to leave her, Olivia found her lips being taken over once again by her husband. She smiled a little and pulled back, and her eyes opened slowly. She blinked a couple times only to find him hovering over her, with those sparkling brown eyes and that handsome smile.

"Well hello," she quietly greeted, her voice still laced with a hint of sleep; "Do you feel better?"

"I do; I feel like myself...almost…" he shrugged; "Thank you for taking care of me."

"In sickness and in health; I meant that shit." she winked. Edgar laughed, then leaned in for yet another kiss. Olivia wasted no time in reciprocating the kiss as her arm slid around his neck, her fingers brushing against the back of his neck a couple times as she lightly nibbled on his bottom lip. They were slowly losing themselves in each other, especially when Edgar pushed her back against the pillows more while making his way on top of her.

And then they were suddenly interrupted by the sound of his stomach growling, causing them to spring apart and start laughing.

"My appetite must be back."

"It must be," she giggled a little, then quickly pecked his lips; "Look, you go take a shower to freshen up some, and I'll go grab us some lunch from the deli at the end of the street."

"Sounds like a plan, woman." he winked. The two shared another kiss before finally dragging themselves out of bed. As Olivia slipped her feet into her sneakers, she was forced to start laughing when she felt Edgar slap her ass.

"I've been wanting to do that all morning and now I've finally got the energy to do so."

Olivia rolled her eyes though she was still laughing. Yep; it seemed that her husband was definitely back to normal, and she was certainly glad of it.
