Her meeting the Avengers happens to be a more causal. She simply walks onto the property and introduces herself to them. She sticks to those she is more familiar with, mainly Wanda. Keeping her distance from Pietro, due to the awkwardness. But how else could it be, when the one she considers her husband is married to someone else in this world. She is offered a place on the team, but rejects it. Though, she remains a guest.
The dreams keep haunting her. She doesn't know where she is supposed to be. All she knows is that she keeps seeing glimpses of Franklin and Nate. It always breaks into her sleep. This night she awakens because she can't sleep. And obviously something is trying to tell her something. She starts walking around the mansion, and is greeted by Pietro.
The two remain standing taking the other in. "Whatever is troubling, you know you can talk about it. None of us are here to judge." He tells her. "It's nothing that concerns any of you. I have been having suspicions though. And seems that everything is coming together now. I think it is time I return to my family. I will miss you and Wanda. But you aren't my family, at least not yet nor how I remember. You can tell the Captain and the others." She says before walking toward the direction of the front door.
She actually finds herself where she hadn't intended. She happens upon the outcast of misfits. "Hello, Grimm. I was hoping to talk to the Richards. I know more than likely Reed might be up. But I am wondering about Susan." She tells him. He leads the way, as she follows. She walks into the lab. And sure enough Reed is there. "Thank you, Ben. We will share with you after we are done." She tells him.
"Reed." She says knowing that he gets caught up in his own world when science comes into play. He turns around. "I'm sorry, what Rachel? What are you doing here?" He says. "Hello, Reed. I was hoping to talk to you and your wife. There is something I need to discuss with you and your wife before the others are told." She tells him. "Let me go get her." He replies.
"Rachel, hello. Reed said you need to talk to us." Sue says. "Yes. I have been having flashes that have become more frequent and longer in length. But they happen to involve my nephew, Xavier and Franklin. Whatever I have been seeing, something is going to tell me it is happening soon. Has Franklin been acting strange or unusual?" She questions.
The couple turn and look at each other. Susan speaks. "We thought he was going through a phase. But he has been talking to someone named Charles." Susan's information puts Rachel on edge. "Charles? I think it best you go check on him." She instructs. She and Reed are left alone, as his wife goes to check on their child.
She returns in tears. Pain in her eyes, but anger marking her face. Reed takes her in his arms as she breaks down. "Rachel, if you could go get the others we would greatly appreciate it." He tells her. She leaves the couple, in order to give them privacy and to compose themselves. She follows the trail to where the youngest member is.
She walks into the hangar. The two look up at her entrance. "I'm sorry. I hadn't meant to intrude. But your brother and sister need to talk to you. There is a situation that needs to be discussed." She tells them then walking away to let them have the moment they had been having. She can't help but here their conversation, since the sound carries.
"I'm sorry…" She tells him. "It's okay…"He replies. Rachel turns around to see if they are coming. Only to see them kissing to which she quickly turns back around. It doesn't take but a few more minutes before they appear in her vision. The three silently make their way to where the other married couple is. Encountering Ben along the way.
Johnny reacts appropriately when he sees the state his sister is in. Clearly, he and the others can see that she has been crying. Hugging her, "what's wrong?" He asks. Rachel interrupts. "The Xmen are on their way. And I think we should go to the Avengers. They would be able to help." She tells them. They agree to that, for whatever has happened they are going to need all the help for whatever dire situation they are clearly in.
Ororo, Scott, Jean, and the others appear. "Rachel, Nate is gone." Her sister tells her. "It will be okay. I, we will get them back. It's clear that he is not the only one he took." She tells Jean, who is clearly shaken up... "Who is he?" Ben interrupts. She turns to her sister. "Its best if you show them, Jean." She instructs.
After Jean explains as she shows them a projection of what has led to this, the wave of disbelief from the betrayal meets her. While the four may not have had daily interactions with the man. They knew enough to respect him, so the fact that he has done this is something that is hard to swallow. Johnny turns to Rachel. "Why exactly were you here?" He questions. "The Avengers are here." She answers, her eyes glowing and body alight.
They are all on the roof. It had been determined that this was the best location, on top of being able to house everyone. And while Jean showed them Xavier's descent into madness. But not this current action, to which the others are about to find out about. Johnny remains by Susan and Reed's side. Lyja and Ben on his other end.
"I want to know why you came here? And why my sister was in tears?" Johnny says. His powers respond due to his lack of control on his anger. Robert Drake steps in front of him. As Rachel tells him that Franklin has been taken by a manifestation of Charles's persona. He and Iceman are in an argument the next moment.
Johnny threatening Xavier for his actions, while Drake defends his mentor. Hawkeye and Rachel get in between them. Rachel's eyes start glowing and becomes alight. "Clinton is right. Back up though, Drake." Rachel tells him. "Johnny?" She inquires. Lyja has her hand on his chest, hoping it will comfort him. To which, he responds putting his hand over hers. "I'm good for now, Rachel. Just keep him away from me for the time being." He says.
Drake charges at this statement. Despite, his abilities being a hothead is something he and Johnny have in common. Johnny is getting ready to respond when the arrow comes out of nowhere restraining the Xman. She has remained by Hawkeye's side. She lets her abilities recede. She turns to Scott. "What is the plan, my brother? After all, this is initially our problem to rectify?" She questions.
"We of course, have to find him. And do what we can to free those we care about." He is looking at the Fantastic Four as he says this. "And end the threat and from what he has become, I don't think some of us will make it out alive. Not with how dangerous he is." He tells them. "It is a chance we are willing to take. It's what we have come together for throughout the years, Scott." Steven speaks.
"Then let's go." Susan says. They start walking to their mode of transportation. Johnny turns to Lyja, taking her in his arms. "I need you to stay here, in case someone comes needing help. And we will finally start our lives again. And hopefully, have a child this time." He tells her before kissing her. He leaves her turning around, having his power come to life before taking off after the others. She is left there hopeful.
She lands not far from the mansion. The others behind here. Johnny lands right next to her. She turns to Scott and Ororo. "Should we strike or move in carefully?" She asks her brother and friend, "Jean, Rachel see if you can enter his mind without being detected." He tells his wife and sister. Her eyes are glowing as she loses some of her control.
Her eyes return to their previous state, as she comes back to the land of the living. "They are all fine. But we can't delay any longer, I don't know for how much longer though. Whatever move he is going to make is going to be soon. And at that point, it will be too late. And the possibility of saving them will be almost nonexistent." She tells them.
Before any of them can make a move, their opponent appears in all his glory. And he is quite the behemoth. They all immediately take the offense. They are all quickly overwhelmed. And it doesn't take too long before they realize their weakness is his strength. Forcing the mutants having to take the defensive and act as support.
Torch is the first to make a move, simply being himself. "Johnny, wait." She tells him. But he is already about to attack Onslaught. The others are working on a plan. She gets in front of him, preventing him from making a hug mistake. Leaving herself open. She turns just in time, sensing their opponent is about to strike. Her abilities are what protect her from them being siphoned.
She is hit pretty hard though. And sent flying. She lands hard into the ground. "RACHEL." She hears Johnny. Alex and the rest of her family are by her side almost immediately. Pietro being the first to reach her, helping her up. "Are you okay?" He asks. She is actually surprised she is conscious after that hit. Looking at him, she answers. "I'll be fine. I just need time."
The others approach. The Captain and Reed in the front. "We've come up with something based on the evidence given to us. And I know having to remain inactive is something you and your team is unaccustomed to Rachel, but it is necessary. You and the others can help with those that need it." Reed tells her and the others.
She powers up. Hovering in the air. "Rachel, Reed said there is nothing you or the others can do at this point." Johnny says. "I know. But I refuse to let my nephew, Franklin and Charles at this monster's mercy any longer." She gets even higher, so the others won't try to grab her and stop her. "At this point, I am the only one who will be able to. All of you need to be ready, once we make it out. He will be weak enough that the time to strike will be nigh." She addresses them. Pietro can't help but admire her for what she is about to do. He takes his wife's hand in the process however. Afraid of what is to come and what it means for the two of them.
Rachel tears a hole through Onslaught. She reaches out. "Charles." She follows his distress. She finds him in the corner. Nate and Franklin in front of her. "Aunt Rachel." Nate tells her. She turns to the child. "Your parents are waiting for you. And you are put together, Nate. There is nothing wrong with being scared. It's what being human entails. But you don't have to worry anymore, I will handle it now.
I need you to get Charles. I will take are of Franklin. Nate picks up Charles, while Rachel takes Franklin in her arms. "It won't be much longer. I am holding everything together. The Phoenix is preventing Onslaught from siphoning my other abilities. However, it won't hold since they are a part of me. The same goes for the rest of you as well. He has already taken more than enough from the three of you."
They sense more than see that the other hole Rachel blasts through him, leaves him staggering but not out. They barely managed to escape before he hits the ground. They see the costumed heroes making their final play. Onslaught is attempting to get up after having caught himself. "Rachel, take care of my son. And tell him what we've done, we did for him." She picks up from Susan. "I will." She returns. Storm approaches taking the child from her arm. As Nate and Charles set ground near Jean.
She is about to meet the others when she becomes distracted. She picks up the conversation from her would be husband and his wife. She doesn't sense the movement behind until it is too late. The others are busying taking care of the aftermath. As soon as Crystal vanishes, the arm reaches out for her. Taking ahold and before she can react, he vanishes and she is taken with him.
She sees his movements before darkness takes ahold of her. "BELLE." He screams. Jean and Scott are checking Charles and Nate, while Ororo is still tending to Franklin. Lyja appears out of nowhere. She approaches Storm. "Lyja." Franklin calls for her. She takes him but set him down, taking his hand.
The others standing behind Ororo. Scott is now holding Charles. "Franklin, we can take you in. You will have a home with us. I know it will never replace your family but you will be around those like you." Xavier tells him. "I will take care of him. I am all he has left after all." Lyja replies. "With my husband and the rest of his family gone, Franklin's guardianship is left up to me." She adds.
All she feels and knows is darkens around her. She is unable to determine how long she has been in this state though. She feels the emotion from someone close to her. And this feeling serves as a beacon for her, lighting the way to consciousness. Before she can anchor herself, a part of her is pulled to the person.
She sees Jean serving Pietro something. And the conversation between the two of them. She tries to reach out. The movement catching their eyes. They look in her direction. Jean and Pietro approach her. "Rachel?" Jean inquires. She turns to Maximoff. "Your loneliness and despair reached out to me." She tells him. Pietro tries to grab her, but his hand goes through her. "Rachel, where are you?" Jean asks. "I don't know." She is gone before she can say more. Leaving the two more alone than ever. The hope her appearance gave vaporizing.
"…" She hears the voice but is unable to comprehend any of its substance. Opening her eyes, she looks to see the restraints covering her hands. "I know you are up. We have been waiting for you." She slowly sits up, to see the hologram of a man's face. "Where am I?" "Come, I will direct you. I know you aren't from around here and there is much we must discuss."
