Chapter Two: Making The Team.
It's morning time at the DeSanta Home, Michael is passed out on the couch, a half-empty bottle of whiskey is on the table in front of him, his cell phone starts ringing. He's startled, and pulls out his gun in a panic, he looks around, nothing, he answer the phone.
Michael - What?!
Lester - Can you please lay off the Booze until the mission is done?
Michael - I'm awake, Lester. What's up?
Lester - I'm still working out the details, need a few more days until we're ready.
Michael - But that's not why you called this morning, right?
Lester - Correct. I'm working on a list of personnel we could use, I got some suggestions, I'm assuming you do as well?
Michael - I think so.
Lester - Trevor mentioned that he has a list of his people, I'm gonna contact him in a bit.
Michael - Great, just what we need, an army of trigger happy lunatics.
Lester - That's why I need you to come in, and finalize things.
Michael - I'll be there.
He gets up off the couch, and goes to get himself dressed up.
A house composed of Cape Cod architecture sits by the coast, opposite the el gordo lighthouse that sits on an island a few hundred feet away. A phone is heard ringing.
Trevor - Lester the molester!
Lester - Get up, I need you to come down to the club.
Trevor - Did Michael tell you about my suggestions?
Lester - Yes, now get down to the club, we need to go over things.
Trevor - On my way.
Trevor steps out the front door, he turns back around.
Trevor - I'll call you later, take it easy on the drywall.
He closes the door, walks to his truck, and drives off.
Trevor enters his office at the club, he sees a dead body fall out of the office fridge.
Trevor - Dammit.
He quickly puts the corpse back in, and closes the door, Michael enters the office, he sees Trevor there.
Michael - Lester called you in too?
Trevor - I'm here to oversee our options, just in case you decide to pull a fast one again.
Michael - Hey, that was ten years ago.
Trevor - Just sayin, bro.
They continue bickering, Lester enters the club office, he's carrying a few folders.
Lester - You two bickering about north yankton again? Please deal with that later.
Michael - What's the plan so far?
Lester - Doing both of these approaches requires a lot of time and prep work, that I'm trying to get finalized within the span of a few days.
He puts the folders on the desk.
Trevor - How's the planning with the crew?
Lester - After going through the people both of you recommended, I narrowed it down, also I've got a few people that I've used for odd jobs, here's my recommendations.
He opens the folders, and pulls out a few papers, they have photos and information.
Lester - Packie McReary, he was part of a well known Liberty City stickup crew, good to have around.
Michael - Sounds like a winner, who's next?
Lester - Eddie Toh, He specializes in procuring vehicles and mapping effective escape routes for heists, he's also an expert pilot and driver. A real professional, you can count on him to get you out of a spot. His cut would be 14% but you know me, I only hire the best.
Michael - Expensive, but it's worth it.
Lester - Gustavo Mota, an expert in the use of guns, he used to be a member of the Vagos, that gang based out of East Los Santos, he used to make small drug heists for the gang, after hitting a score that netted two hundred thousand dollars, most of which went to the gang, he took the money that he kept for himself, got out of the gang, and went freelance, he's a professional, that's all you need to know.
Michael - He did well with the jewelry heist, he's got my vote.
He turns to Trevor.
Lester - Trevor, you said you have people?
Trevor - Yup. Tell em, Mikey.
Michael - Here's the people he recommended.
Michael points out the list of people that Trevor mentioned.
Michael - Taliana Martinez, good driver, and she'll work for way less than she's worth. She did good on the bureau job, I'm not passing her up.
Lester - Okay, if you think so, I'll go along.
Anyone else?
Trevor - My buddy, Chef, consummate professional.
Michael - I've seen him in action, Lester. He helped us out on the Paleto Bay job, he's a very skilled gunman.
Lester - I'll take your word for it.
He opens up another folder.
Lester - Here's some freelancers we could use.
Lester - Karim Denz, He's new to the business, I've seen him drive, but I haven't seen him under pressure.
Michael - We'll find something for him, who's next?
Lester - Hugh Welsh, average guy, quiet, writes screenplays in his spare time.
Michael - Screenplays? Anything I've seen?
Lester - Mostly low budget schlock, nothing good, but pays decent, he won't bad mouth anyone, but he needs work on his gun skills though.
Michael - Alright.
Lester goes to the next one.
Lester - Karl Abolaji, solid gunman, just don't ask him about the psychiatric industry, his skills are not very good, average at best, he also needs work.
Michael - Okay, anyone else?
Lester - Daryl Johns, a self claimed "prodigy", he claims that his brain is his biggest weapon, he was a bank robber, got caught, and did 10 years, while incarcerated, he studied sociology, psychology, and animal behavior. He comes off sounding more like a lawyer than a criminal. He's also full of himself, so be aware if he gets cocky.
Lester - Norm Richards, comes across as a bit of an idiot, but he could be useful, he's a big fan of the late Michael Townley.
Michael - What?
Lester - You heard correctly, he was a family man with a wife and three children, good paying job, after you "died", he went and robbed a warehouse, got 10,000 dollars, which he subsequently spent on drugs and hookers, he worships the very ground you walk on.
Trevor - Hear that, Mikey, you got yourself a kiss ass.
Lester - His skills are not so good I recommend you take him and the others to the gun range, get them ready.
Michael - Understood.
Lester - And last but not least, our hackers.
Lester - Paige Harris, very skilled with computers, and alarm systems, she'll be able to find any back doors they got. Also very resourceful when it comes to anything.
Trevor - You're not sleeping with her are you?
Lester - That's none of your business.
Lester goes to the next one.
Lester - Christian Feltz, not the best, but if you move fast, that won't matter. His hacking skills are average at best, he also stutters occasionally.
Michael - Okay, we can work with that.
Lester - Last but not least, here's the one Michael told me about.
Lester - Rickie Lukens, a former employee at Lifeinvader, he lost his job after Jay Norris's death, he is childish, immature, unprofessional and very faux-charismatic.
Michael - He may not be that good, but he's enthusiastic, he managed to track me down and claimed that I was responsible for what happened to Jay Norris, and he's improved since the last two jobs we did.
Lester - If you say so, maybe I'll have him work with Paige and Christian. After all, three heads are better than one.
Trevor - That's a lot of amateurs that we're bringing along.
Lester - Indeed, these amateurs are gonna help us accomplish the impossible.
Trevor - How long til we strike?
Lester - A few more days, in the meantime, we throughly plan out everything.
Lester then turns to Michael.
Lester - Michael, I want you to take Norm, Karl, and Hugh to the gun range, get their shooting skills up to par.
Michael - Got it.
Lester - Trevor, I want you to acquire a second helicopter, and locate a train we can use, as well as some ammunition, I'll send you a list of what we need. Also once I locate a tunnel bore machine, I'll notify you.
Trevor - Got it, amigo.
Lester - You two get going, I got some more planning to do.
Michael - Alright.
Both of them leave the office.
In the driveway in front of his home, Franklin is polishing up his car.
Frank - Nice and clean.
Lamar - What up, nigga!
Franklin looks up and sees Lamar in his driveway.
Frank - What the hell are you doing here?
Lamar - I'm just passing through.
Frank - Yeah, right. Passing through.
His cell phone starts ringing.
Frank - Hold on a second.
He answers his phone.
Frank - Hello.
Lester - Franklin, it's Lester.
Frank - What's up?
Lester - Are you busy?
Frank - Nah, I'm here with Lamar.
Lester - Even better, I need both of you to do some work for me.
Frank - What is it?
Lester - You've got to get some police stingers, and some getaway cars.
Frank - Cars, how many?
Lester - Five, I'll send you the coordinates, and where to drop them off. After that I'll send someone over to help you modify them.
Frank - Alright, we got it.
The both of them hang up at the same time.
Lamar - What we gon do?
Frank - Come on, man, Lester gave us shit to get done.
Lamar - Finally, we can get some work in.
Frank dials a number.
Frank - Can I get a taxi?
Male Voice - Stay where you are, I got a driver around the corner.
Frank - Cool.
He hangs up.
Lamar - What's going down?
Frank - We gotta get some shit from the police, and get some cars.
Lamar - Cars? Shit, we can do that.
A taxi cab pulls up to the house.
Lamar - Now that's what I call service.
Frank - C'mon, fool, let's get this done.
The both of them get in the taxi, and drive away.
