A/N: Hello. I think that I'm getting to the point that I'm being overloaded with many, many projects both on here and in my real life. This story and another one on here have been going on for plural years. I feel like I'm going in circles and not going anywhere. So…unfortunately, I've decided that this may be the last chapter.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Scarlet listened to the pop and crackle of the fire as she sat next to it after having been driven so many miles away from what she thought would be her last home. She could still see her sister bursting into thousands of little droplets of water, disappearing as the X-Men who had betrayed her blindly ran through the wall that had been her big sister's last stand. Scarlet's throat was still sore from screaming her sister's name.
"Here," Victor said, offering her a burger.
Scarlet glanced at it and then looked back at the fire, ignoring the hollow feeling in her stomach.
"Scarlet, you've got to eat," Victor growled, still holding out the burger. "You haven't eaten in eighteen hours…and for you, it's not healthy to go without eating for four."
Scarlet rolled her red eyes and stared at the twisting flames. She couldn't stand the thought of eating right now. If she ate, she'd throw up. She didn't want to taste acid on top of everything else that she had endured.
"Scarlet!" Victor growled, his voice hard.
"No!" Scarlet snapped, glaring up at him and the fire blazed up. "I'm not hungry!"
"Bull shit!"
"Victor, leave her be," Logan said, watching the scene as he came back with more firewood.
Victor rounded on his fellow Alpha and shook the bag of burgers. "You're telling me you're going to let the bitch make herself sick just because she wants to punish herself for whatever the hell she thinks happened back there?"
Scarlet didn't even flinch when he referred to her as 'the bitch', she knew what she was. Logan's eyes darkened and he set the firewood down, dusting his hands off.
"Do you even know what happened back there, asshole?" Logan demanded.
"Yeah, the X-Men went to the shitter."
Scarlet rolled her eyes and rose to her feet. "Way to go with the words, Victor." She crossed her arms and looked at the men, the men she was in love with and had to depend on. "You're missing some key points though."
Victor shot her a wry look. "Don't use your powers for this. Not after the power burst."
"Too. Fucking. Late." Scarlet stuck her chin out defiantly.
Victor swore and threw the bag of burgers down, smashing them under his boot. Scarlet knew she would pay with her ass later, but she didn't care. Her eyes turned to Logan and she saw patience, calm. Things that she would never have.
"Chuck is gone," Scarlet told them. "Like packed your bags, missing out of thin air gone. Not even a note left behind, so naturally, Scott took control and guess who he blames for the good old Professor going poof? Yeah, you got it. Me." Scarlet shook her head. "I didn't have anything to do with it. You boys know that because I was luckily with both of you at the time, giving one of you a good time and the other a show in exhibitionism. Fun, fun.
"Anyway, Scott has power and he's taken the lead and Addison found out and she tried to warn us. Those of the X-Men who don't listen to Scott are going to be running or they're going to be forced to obey under the threat of power dampener collars."
"Scott can't do that," Logan growled.
"Honey, he's crazy enough to do it because we've been standing up to him and fighting against everything that he stands for," Scarlet reminded him. "Even Warren is on his side because he didn't want to lose Addison but guess what? Addison wanted to protect me…so…she risked her life and paid the ultimate price."
Victor shook his head. "The brat just burst into a bunch of water droplets. She's a water manipulator. She'll probably reform somewhere else safe."
Scarlet shook her head. "She can only reform three times from something like that. We did that testing on her when she came to the mansion a long time ago. Each time, damages her cells irreparably. I had to help her the second time…" Tears stained with pink shone in Scarlet's eyes. "She's gone and she's not coming back to help Warren save their daughter…"
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Logan wrapped his arms around Scarlet as the tears fell down her cheeks in rivers. He didn't want to believe that the annoying water manipulator that he called Fish Tail was actually gone. Especially if it hurt his girl so much. She was the only sister that Scarlet had. The only family that she remotely cared for.
"We've got to keep moving," Logan whispered, pressing a kiss to Scarlet's temple. "They still have Jean…they can use Cerebro to find us, right?"
Scarlet let out a little laugh. "About that…"
Victor smirked. "You didn't."
"I may have put a little virus in that damn box before we left grounds," Scarlet admitted, lowering her gaze. "The thought of Scooter using Red to hunt us down by abusing her powers made me cringe for her…but I'll take no pity on any telepath that uses that machine but the Professor."
Victor pulled Scarlet away from Logan and planted a kiss on her lips. "Brilliant girl!"
Logan growled and pulled her back. "We still have to move on. The more distance we put between us and the places that they know we regularly haunt, the better."
"Right," Victor said, looking amused.
Logan turned his gaze onto Scarlet. "And Princess…"
Scarlet's eyes turned towards him. "Yeah?"
"I need you to promise to not leave any of your flowers behind the places that we go," Logan told her, holding her gaze.
Color filled her cheeks as she realized what he meant. Scarlet smoothed her fingers over his chest. "Then you boys better keep me from being sad, now shouldn't you?"
With that, Scarlet walked away with a sway in her hips, snatching the fire up in her hand like it didn't mean a thing to her.
Victor let out a low whistle and crossed his arms over his chest. He glanced over at Logan. "So…who gets to deal with that attitude tonight?"
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Scott slammed his hand against the wall as he left yet another empty room in the mansion. So many of the people that he knew had conspired against him – with that damned Scarlet – had simply vanished. He cursed under his breath and moved on, his vision redder than normal.
"Scott, you need to calm down," Jean said, following after him.
"I'll calm down when she pays for her crimes against humanity and the professor and me!" Scott snapped, glaring over his shoulder at her. "Scarlet Lehnsherr will pay for everything that she's done! I will see that she's buried for it!"
Jean sighed as she stood in the hallway, watching her husband storm down the hall. She prayed that the girl that Logan cared for was far, far away and would never come back for the girl's own safety.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
A/N: And that ends this tale. I apologize for the way that this story ended and for how it was drawn out. I should have kept towards the original plot a long time ago. But…issues. I apologize and I am grateful for your support through all the journey. Thank you. And may the blessings of the Cosmos be with you. -Scarlet
