Luke woke up the next day and grabbed the clock on the table. When he saw the time he sprung from bed "Penelope!" He grabbed his phone off the charger to see what happen to his alarm.
Penelope walked over to the door wiping her hand on a towel. "Morning Luke, what's wrong?"
"Did you turn off my alarm? Why didn't you wake me?" Luke said upset while packing up his laptop and paper he had scattered about.
"Me no, why would I turn it off? You probably didn't set it. You fell asleep on the chair last night. You know how hard it was to get you from the chair to the bed. You need to lose weight." Penelope stopped when Luke stopped in the middle of packing to look at her unamused. "It's Friday, aren't you scheduled off today?"
"I thought I go into work and get some work done before going back on Monday. I haven't been to the office since I left for London." Luke said annoyed that he had to explain this to her. He was getting even frustrated when the last file wasn't going into his laptop bag.
Penelope threw the towel on the bed and stomped over to Luke and grabs the file from his hand. Luke glares at Penelope when she easily gets the file in. She doesn't realize how close she was to him until she turn to face him, nearly bumping off his chest. Regardless, she returns his glare with a glare. "Don't blame me for your thoughts Luke and no one is going to mark you for tardiness.." she looks over him to the clock on his table calculating if he left in 30 mins how late he would be. "For being 10 mins late on your scheduled day off." She fingered quoted when she said scheduled. Luke looked down at her more annoyed. "isn't there like a 15 min grace period." She said smirking at him.
"Whatever. No point talking to someone who thinks walking in an hour late is being on time." Luke grunted before sliding past her from behind. His front rubbed against her back as she gasped silently feeling how hard he was. She walked towards the door as he walked towards the bathroom. "Enjoy your cold shower." She said giving her the last word.
Luke turned to look down to himself as he ran his hands over his face "traitor." He said as he closed the door behind him.
Penelope had breakfast out on the island as he rushed past her. "Luke breakfast is ready."
"Penelope, I am running late." Luke reached to grab the door knob when he heard Penelope.
"Mr Luke Alvez, if you dare step out that door without eating you will regret it." Penelope said sternly.
Luke took a deep breath before turning back around to walk towards the kitchen. He never really challenged her threats regardless how empty they sounded. He sat down glaring at her as she stood across from him drinking tea. He continued to glare at her as he took each bite. She smiles at him as she watches him. After taking the last bite, "I am done, happy?" Luke grabbed his laptop bag off the island as he walked towards the door.
"Have a nice day at work honey." She said as she smiled feeling like a winner.
"Psycho." Luke said to himself as he got closer to the door.
"I heard that." Penelope yelled from the kitchen.
Luke paused to smile with his back towards her as he grabbed the doorknob to leave.
Penelope smile fell as she grabbed his plate to put it in the sink. She needed to talk to him but didn't know how or even if she wanted to. She was happy with their relationship until now. She wasn't overthinking, stressing or being disheartened by the relationship. She knew exactly where she stood and knew exactly how Luke felt about her. Even though she hoped he stayed faithful when they got married. She wasn't surprised that Luke would have an affair behind her back. She had been cheated on or felt used several time in the past that it didn't fazed her anymore. But it still stung a bit to know she wasn't enough for anyone even the guy she was married too.
She dreamed about her wedding like every other girl. She even had a secret board titled Wedding on Pinterest. Where she pinned her dream wedding dress, an off the shoulder, all over lace a-line gown. She pinned the type of wedding cake, the type of invitation, the bridesmaids gown, even the poses she wanted to take during the photo shoot. But most of all she wanted to wear the the veil her mom wore on her wedding day. She wanted her mom to be apart of her wedding. But it never happened. The day they went to court to get married, she wore a short simple white dress that ended just above the knee without her mothers veil. She could of worn it but it felt wrong. She would never want her mom to see her get married to a man that didn't love her or who she didn't love. Her heart squeezed by the thought.
The marriage turned out better then she excepted. She thought he would curse her every time she passed in front of him but he didn't. He never really spoke much and she didn't know much about him or about his past. All she knew was he was the only child to his parents and both of them were no longer alive. She tried to ask Derek but he refused. Telling her it was Luke life and he is the only one who should tell her. But ensured her he was a great guy and that one day we would open up to her. She also knew this that he was previously married and his wife had passed tragically. She thought it might have been a car accident and that is why he refused to let her drive at night. He had an odd obsession of staying awake until she got home whenever she drove at night. She took Derek words into consideration and never asked Luke about it. But she wished he was more open with her, especially now.
She would simply walk away if he asked her to. She never wanted anyone to feel like they were painted into a corner. When she first came to this house with her father, Derek and her sister. She had a speech planned out explaining to him that she didn't want him to be forced into this marriage. If he really didn't want to get married to her she would walk out there and refuse. He wouldn't need to say anything. But he agreed. He agreed to marry her but not without letting her know he would never love her. She respected him for that. In her past, she was told she was loved but was cheated on.
.. I am going to give it sometime before I tell her, I promise. I just don't want to hurt her.
Even knowing about the affair, she didn't feel cheated. He told her from the beginning, he couldn't love her. He never played with her feelings. He did his part of being a good husband. It was odd that she didn't feel any anger towards him. Was she really that numb? He had always been upfront with her but he hid a lot too. Well so did she. He knew as much about her as she knew about him. He was hiding the affair and she was hiding the knowledge of it. Who could blame him if he found love after a loveless marriage like their. Love was one thing she craved and she would be damned if she stood in-between two people who loved each other. She thought about Luke.
"Just say the word Luke and I will leave.. happily." As the last words left her lips her lips. Her heart squeezed in pain.
