Friday
With they luggage rolling behind them, Penelope and Luke walk into the hotel together. Penelope smiles at Luke as they wait on line.
"This is the last time I help a kid with his juice box." Luke said pulling the shirt away from his chest.
At the airport, Luke and Penelope stood outside waiting for a taxi. A mother and son stood next to Luke waiting on line as well.
"Mommy, I want juice.. open juice box please.." the kid asked his mom with a juice box in one hand and the straw in the other.
Luke and Penelope watched as the mother struggled with her luggage "when we get into a taxi I promise to open your juice box"
"I am thirsty now.. pleaseeeee mommy.." the kid whined.
Penelope was about to move forward to help when Luke spoke to the mother. "If you don't mind I can open it for him."
"Can you please? Thank you so much." The mother said as she lifted the bag over her shoulder again.
The kid quickly gave the box and straw to Luke and jumped up and down watching him. Luke struck the straw into the box and handed it to the kid. The kid continued to jump up and down as he grabbed the juice box. His tiny hand squeezed down hard on the box as it squirted juice all over Luke ab and chest. Penelope laughed at Luke's expression as the mother apologized profusely. Luke acted like a gentleman in front of the mother and son but the moment they got into the taxi he mumbled curses making Penelope laugh at him more.
This time Penelope could only smile because in a few minutes her life was to change yet again. They got to the front desk and Luke asked the gentleman in front of him for their room key
"Luke Alvez." Luke handing the receptionist his ID and credit card.
"Here you are Mr. Alvez room 206." the receptionist said handing Luke the room key, ID and credit card. "Ms. Emily Prentiss." The receptionist said looking towards Penelope.
Luke looked to the receptionist "She isn't here, she is running late." Luke turned to Penelope "Come on let's go." Luke said as he grabbed his luggage to go.
"Luke why don't you head up and get cleaned. I will wait here for Prentiss and see how she is doing." Penelope said as she laid her hand on his bicep.
"Thanks so much. Tell her I would of waited but" Luke looking down to his shirt. Penelope smiled. "Room 206." He told her as she nodded. He grabbed her luggage but Penelope stopped him.
"I'll bring it don't worry." Penelope said smiling at him. Luke nodded and walked away.
Penelope watched Luke walk away before turning to the receptionist and started shuffling in her bag. "I had booked another room, Penelope Alvez." She said as she handed him her ID and credit card.
"Alright ma'am, you are in room 209. Would like to switch to the room right next to your brother, into room 208. It's currently empty and they will be no additional charge."
Penelope looked at him upset. Did he just say brother? "He is my hus…" Penelope stopped as she realized the misunderstanding. Since both shared the same last name and were in separate rooms assuming they were brother and sister wasn't a stretch. Especially since Prentiss was sharing a room with Luke. Her heart felt heavy. "No room 209 is perfect." The last thing she needed was to stay in the room next to them while they were busy.. Penelope pushed the thought away quickly grabbing her ID, credit card and room key.
Penelope walked over to the bar/restaurant across from the front desk but stopped as she heard Prentiss call out for her. Prentiss was struggling with her open purse as she walked over to Penelope.
"Thanks so much for waiting for me. Where is Luke?" She questioned looking around.
"Juice box accident." Penelope said in a sad voice.
Prentiss turned to look at Penelope. "Hey, are you ok?
Penelope smiled, "Yes, let's get you checked in."
They both walk to get in on line again. Penelope asked her about her dad and gave a few words of comfort. Prentiss introduced herself when she made it to the receptionist handing over her ID and credit card.
"Ma'am there is already a card on hold for your room." The receptionist said as he hands her back the credit card with her ID and room key.
"What? Who's card?" She asked.
Before the receptionist could answer, Penelope answered. "It's on Luke cards. Don't worry about it. Let's go. Penelope said smiling. That was the whole point of booking her room for her, it was one less thing she needed to worry about.
"Tell Luke I will pay him." Prentiss said as she walked with Penelope to the elevator.
"You can tell him yourself." She didn't want to get in between the two lovers. Weirdly enough she felt stronger with every step.
They both entered the elevator as Prentiss struggled with her purse zipper. "Can you hold this for a second." Prentiss asked as she handed Penelope her phone. Prentiss wrestled with the zipper as they reached they floor. "What was my room number again?" Prentiss asked Penelope as she finally got the zipper to close.
"206 and there you are." Penelope was hesitant to sent her in but enough was enough. She sadly smiled as she saw Prentiss disappear behind the door. Penelope walked over to her room that was two door down and across from their room.
Prentiss walked into the room with the lights on. She shrugged, maybe the maid forgot to turn it off after fixing the room. She left her suitcase near the door while taking off her shoes. Prentiss walked over to the bed and threw her purse down before sitting on the edge of the bed. She took off her top and threw it across the room before falling backwards onto the bed. The bathroom door opened.
"Hey Penelope…" Luke said as he came out wet from the shower with a towel around his waist. Prentiss turned her head to look and quickly jumped off the bed looking at him.
"What the fuck are you doing here?" Both yelled at each other.
