Author's Note

I do not own Kim Possible.

They stopped again in the trees to tend to Helios and Winter. Helios only cried. "Metis, Metis."

"We'll get her back," Red said. "We'll take Biter and Kicker to Middleton and we'll get Metis back."

He shook his head. "There is no back. Not on my own. Not without her. There is no back."

They spent the night there and moved on in the morning.

Helios suggested getting something called a bus instead of flying all the way there, because they were all tired and dirty and hurting. He had some money from the food place, and the doctor driving the bus let them on. They huddled together in the back row and watched the trees go by.

Red wondered what would happen to Metis now.

We'll get her back.

They never got Alarm back.

(alarm, alarm, alarm)

Middleton was another city, smaller than Go City. They climbed off the bus and looked around.

"What now?" said Red, looking at Helios.

"Don't look at me," he replied. "Metis had the data stick."

Metis, Metis, Metis. Gone just like Alarm.

One day she'd hunt down those guards and rip their throats out with her teeth.

Just like Alarm.

"James and Anne Possible, right?" Red asked.

"Yeah."

She smiled her very best and approached a little male subject with blonde hair on a big metal thing. "Hi!"

He yelled at seeing her and ducked behind the metal thing.

"It's okay," she said. "I'm not scary."

"You sure look it!" he called back.

"We're looking for James and Anne Possible?"

"My neighbours?" he asked, stepping out from behind the structure. "Why?"

"They're Kicker and Biter's parents," she replied, pointing at the boys.

He frowned at them. "Well, I didn't know the Doctors P had any kids. But if you need some help, I could… take you?"

She brightened. "Oh, yes please!"

"No problem." He held his hand out. "I'm Ron. Ron Stoppable."

"I'm Red." She took his wrist. "Come meet my siblings."

The boy, Ron, was funny. He wasn't like them, but he wasn't like Helios and Metis either. He had no wings, no claws, no fangs. Helios grumbled and scowled. "Are you sure we can trust him?"

"Do you have a better idea?" Red replied.

He didn't.

But as it turned out, Ron was nice. He brought them to a big house with big, big windows. "Uh, this is where the Doctors P live. But I don't think they're home; their cars aren't here. And they both have big jobs, I think. You could wait out here until they get back?"

This was where Kicker and Biter came from? It looked so… normal. Not like the laboratory at all.

"We can do that," Red said.

They waited and waited and waited until it got dark. Flare, Winter, Kicker and Biter fell asleep under a tiny, fluffy tree while she, Helios, and Yellow kept guard over them. Ron popped in and out of his house, bringing them drinks and food. He was nice.

"Uh, what do you have on your back?" he asked when Yellow turned around.

"My wings," she replied.

His eyes got really wide. "Wings?"

"Well yeah. We all have them!"

"Most people don't," Helios said. "The doctors gave us the wings." He shrugged. "That's what Metis used to say, anyway."

"Oh." Red ruffled her wings. "Well, you wanna see?"

"Do I wanna see?! Uh, yes?"

She spread her wings out, and Ron admired them with huge eyes.

On the sixth time he went in and came out again, a doctor came with him. "Oh, Ronnie, you should have said you'd made some friends!"

"They're waiting for Mr and Mrs Doctor P," Ron said. "But I thought they'd be hungry."

"We're always hungry," Red said miserably.

"I'll give Anne a call," said the doctor.
