A/N: The slow burn phase is ending and it's about to get steamy all up in here. Enjoy!
...
His nose itched. Bakugou tried to move his arm to bat whatever it was away, but there was an unfamiliar weight on it. A soft moan followed by a snuffling sound had his eyes snapping open.
"What–?"
Jerking upright, he quickly surveyed his surroundings.
Oh.
He relaxed, once he realized where he was. He remembered Kaylee dozing on his shoulder as they watched TV and he guessed he must have fallen asleep too. She was curled up beside him, softly snoring. The room was bathed in a soft yellow glow. Blinking sleepily, he glanced around, noticing all the differences since the last time he was there, right before summer break.
Before, it was just a bare wasteland, all the basic things supplied by the school, but she'd purchased so many new things, the room was now a kaleidoscope of colors. The bedspread was a multicolor patchwork of flowers and butterflies, and as he examined it closer, it was handmade–very high quality. She'd added glass bead curtains over the windows, which he bet would look amazing once the sun was up. For someone who'd practically been living in the dark for most of their life, it seemed Kaylee was determined to surround herself with as many colors as she could. The effect was overwhelming almost, but Bakugou understood.
Then there were the photographs–dozens, maybe even hundreds of pictures haphazardly taped to the walls–literally everywhere he looked he could see their classmates, some of their teachers, Eri and just random objects–many he recognized from her various texts she sent him.
Wait a minute! He turned his head to get a good look around the room. Why the hell didn't she have any photos of him, of them–up anywhere? Fuck only knows she'd taken enough. He scowled, flopping back down on the mattress with a huff, for once not worried about jostling Kaylee–who was still sleeping soundly, completely unaware of the turmoil flaring within him.
So Deku–fucking Deku–Icy-Hot, Ponytail, and of course Cheeks and Asui…shit, there were even some 2nd year students he didn't even know but–she couldn't have bothered to put up some of him?
He crossed his arms, rolled over to face the wall. He thought about just getting up and going to his bed when something on the wall next to his head caught his attention.
Red eyes widened as they stared straight into an identical pair of red eyes, slightly crinkled from where he–Bakugou–was giving a rare smile to the camera. He glanced up, noticing another photo of him, and another, and another, and another…
His jaw dropped.
The entire wall at the head of Kaylee's bed was plastered with photos of him, of them together, along with some of what he knew to be some of her favorite pictures. Bakugou's eyes roamed over the collage of printed photos, noticing the color variation in some as though her printer was running out of ink.
So many of them and despite the scattered way they were placed on the wall–heat suffused him when he realized all those photos weren't randomly placed there.
Rolling over, now wide awake, Bakugou let his eyes wander over Kaylee's sleeping form. He'd wondered about it, if she glowed when she slept. She did, casting the room in a soft yellow glow. He could see her rapid eye movement, and knew she was dreaming. He couldn't help but gently caress her cheek, watching her closely. A soft sigh escaped her lips, she shifted, her glow getting just a little bit brighter before she burrowed into the pillows. With a mind of their own, his fingers embedded themselves in her hair, marveling at the silky texture.
He thought about getting up, even though the open curtains proved it was still dark outside. Kaylee shifted again, this time snuggling closer to him. He watched as a crease appeared in her forehead, and she frowned, still fast asleep. Her hand shot out from under the All Might blanket, and he had no time to react before she had pushed him onto his back. A shocked grunt escaped him as she then cozied up even closer, plopped her head on his chest, tucking the blanket around them both. Kaylee gave a happy sigh as his arms automatically went around her, her bright skin flickering like a candle.
Fuck.
Who knew Kaylee was such an aggressive cuddler?
Closing his eyes, he nuzzled the top of her head and drifted back to sleep.
….
Sunlight streamed in through the open curtains when Bakugou awoke again, immediately taking note of the fact that it was much, much later. The second thing he took note of was the raging erection he now sported, and his back was literally against the wall with Kaylee's sleeping form squished up against him. Squirming slightly, not enough to wake her, he adjusted himself, biting back a whimper as he bunched the blanket between them. Fuck, he was going to need the coldest shower ever.
He could hear movement outside in the hallway and knew he had to get up and out before the entire fucking dorm woke up. Checking his phone, he had an hour and a half until classes started. No time to train this morning and they'd have to grab a quick bite for breakfast.
As gently as he could, he rose up on one elbow. Kaylee was quite a fitful sleeper; there were several times during the night that she would toss and turn, one time where she actually rose up–looked around–then fell right back to sleep. He watched her carefully, taking note of her relaxed features, fuck she was so pretty. He reached out to softly caress her cheek, and just as he made contact…
"AAAAHHHH!"
"WHATTHEFUCK!"
"BAKUGOU?!"
Pain lashed through him as his head snapped back against the wall, both hands now clutching his nose. Spots swam before his eyes and he could feel a warm rush of blood pour from his nose.
"Oh my God, Bakugou?! What are you doing here? Is that blood?"
"I fink you bruke myth nothe!" He glared at her.
"Oh, I am so sorry!" Kaylee quickly jumped from the bed and grabbed a nearby towel. "I sometimes forget where I am," she dashed back to him and gently placed the towel over his nose, batting his hands away. "I wasn't expecting you to be here and I thought…I thought…you were…"
She trailed off for a moment, turning her head away, her shoulders shaking, flopping back on the bed. Honestly, it wasn't that bad, the blood had already stopped although it still hurt like a son of a bitch. He touched it gingerly, feeling for any type of break. Shit, was she crying?
"Kaylee, honestly–" at least he could breathe and talk properly. "-it's not that bad. I'm ok. Look, the bleeding has stopped."
Her shoulders still shook as she rolled around on her back. "Oh come on, I promise–" He leaned over her, pulling her hands away from her face– "Oi, are you fucking laughing?" She totally was! Fucking laughing so hard her face was a mottled red, her glow bright even against the morning sun as it shone in.
"I–I'm sorry–" she gasped out between snickers that turned into outright chortles. "I thought you were like a roach or a rat…" a fresh round of breathless giggles burst from Kaylee as Bakugou made a face.
"The hell?!" This time he straddled her waist, mindful of his weight. He loomed over her, growling playfully, "You thought I was fucking roach or rat?!"
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry! Are you really hurt?" Her giggles subsided gradually as she looked up at him, still grinning.
Bakugou wasn't sure what possessed him, maybe Kaylee did knock something loose when she clocked him, because his next words were:
"You could kiss it better."
They both froze. He watched, mesmerized as her eyes widened. Her face flushed and he could feel his do the same. His heart pounded.
Kaylee bit her lip, reached out and threaded her fingers behind his neck, pulling him to her.
…..
Kaylee had no idea what the hell she was doing, but there was a look in Bakug–no, Katuski's eyes that challenged her, like he didn't think she'd be brave enough to do it. Heat flared throughout her body.
So, she reached out and pulled him closer, his eyes never leaving hers. She placed a kiss to the very tip of his nose, a gentle touch just in case it really was sore.
She pulled back, smiling brightly, feeling a little light-headed. He looked stunned, his eyes widened, then blazed with emotion.
"There," she said smugly. "I did it!"
"Yeah."
"All better?"
Her arms were still wrapped around his neck, although lightly just in case he wanted to pull away. His entire upper body was just above hers, his arms supporting him on either side of her head, his chest just grazing hers with every breath he took.
"Well," he breathed. "You kinda hit the area just below my nose too."
She giggled again. "You mean right–" she trailed her fingers to graze across his lips–"here?"
He kissed her fingertips. A strange tingly feeling suffused her, starting in her stomach, then going lower. "It really hurts."
She reached up, slightly tilting her head to the side, her nose just touching his as she finally pressed her lips to his. She felt him tense up the moment they touched, but then he quickly relaxed, a soft, deep rumble escaping his chest. His lips were warm, soft, and Kaylee couldn't keep back her own hum of contentment. She felt a hand on her cheek, then it slowly came to cup the back of her neck, which was starting to ache from holding it up.
Her own hands were busy, one was still entangled in his ridiculously soft hair while the other hand drifted down to his chest as though it had a mind of its own. Her lips parted on a gasp when her palm rested right over his heart, feeling the rapid beat that matched her own. Kaylee suddenly became aware of everything, the fact she was sprawled out on her bed, in her pajamas, with Katsuki kneeling above her. Fire raced through her body, and Kaylee wanted more, wanted to feel him–all of him.
"Look at you," he whispered. "You're almost brighter than the sun right now." Kaylee wasn't paying attention, all she wanted–needed–was him closer. She felt out of control, but didn't care.
She threaded her fingers around his neck again, pulling him to her, and he landed with a soft grunt, his arms still bracing his weight on either side of her head. He was heavy, but he felt amazing, lighting up nerve endings everywhere their bodies touched. His entire upper body was pressed against hers, and Kaylee let out a small squeak when she felt something hard against her belly.
"Kaylee?" He took his lips from hers and Kaylee frowned slightly at the loss. He was panting, his expression concerned. "You ok?"
Kaylee didn't think she was capable of speech at the moment, so she smiled and nodded. Feeling like every second she spent not kissing Katsuki was a tragic waste of time, she pulled him back to her. His eyes flared and this time, Katsuki's lips parted, taking her lower lip between his. She could feel a gentle scrape of sharp teeth, which just made another surge of heat pool right between her thighs. His tongue was rough as it edged past her lips and oh, God. Her eyes rolled back in her head.
His lips trailed a path to her earlobe, then down to her neck, making her arch up, her breasts now pressed flat against his hard chest. Her heart beat so loud she knew he could probably hear it.
Katsuki moaned and she could feel the vibration. "Fuck."
Kaylee's hands went to his scalp, trying to direct him back to her mouth.
"I'm going to fucking murder them," he whispered against her lips.
Kaylee froze. "What?"
Then she heard it.
There was a persistent knock at her door, and Kaylee could hear someone calling her name.
"I'm going to grab all the grenades I have and stuff it in every orifice," Katsuki murmured, rising up and straightening his clothes. "There won't be an atom left to bury." He flexed his fingers, and Kaylee could feel the heat coming off his palms.
Still panting, mind still muddled from finally kissing Katsuki, Kaylee stared at the door as there was another knock.
"Kaylee, are you awake? You're not answering your phone." That was Tsuyu's voice.
"I'm–" Kaylee had to clear her throat before she could even speak properly. "I'm up!" She let Katsuki pull her up and on shaky legs, she managed to get to the door and open it a crack–making sure Katsuki was out of sight, and trying to suppress her glowing.
"Hi," she opened the door to see Tsuyu, fully dressed in her school uniform, fist posed as though she was going to knock again. "I slept late," Kaylee said lamely.
"Yeah, we figured when we didn't see you down at breakfast or at the track," Tsuyu told her. She smiled, and Kaylee responded with one of her own. "It looks like you're not the only one though, Bakugou hasn't come down either and he usually wakes up before everyone."
Kaylee felt her face flame at that comment. "Uh…"
"Anyway," Tsuyu continued, thankfully not noticing Kaylee's discomfort, "I've been trying to call you. Mr. Aizawa wants to meet with you this morning before classes start and he called me when he couldn't get in touch with you."
"Oh," Kayle said. "I'll get ready right now."
Tsuyu nodded, and suddenly the shorter girl cocked her head to the side, her eyes roaming over Kaylee, who was still trying to catch her breath. Kaylee couldn't fathom what she must look like with flushed cheeks and kiss swollen lips. "Are you sure you're ok? You're kinda flushed looking, like you have a fever and–"
"I'm fine!" Kaylee squeaked out. "I just slept really, really hard. Can you please let Mr. Aizawa know I'll be there in about 20 minutes, please? I've got to get dressed."
"Of course," Tsuyu grinned. "Let me know how it goes! See you in class."
When her footsteps had faded, Kaylee slumped against the doorframe in defeat, her forehead hitting the hard wood with a dull thud.
"Hey, what's wrong?"
"I'm not going to be able to kiss you anymore," she whined pathetically.
"Why the fuck not?" came the near shout.
Kaylee turned her head to face Katsuki, who was now scowling at her, arms crossed.
"Because Aizawa is going to expel me for using my quirk!"
He snorted. "For fuck's sake, don't start that again. You won't get expelled," he crossed the room to jerk her to him. She sighed as he wrapped his arms around her.
"The worst punishment I got here was in my first year," he explained to her as she snuggled her head on his shoulder. "Deku and I had a huge fight late at night, using our quirks, and we got caught." Kaylee was listening, but was more focused on how his lips were so close to her cheek, she could almost feel them. He huffed, a dry chuckle, that nevertheless sent tingles up and down her spine. "Aizawa was so pissed. Man, was he pissed. I got banned from class for 4 days, Deku for 3. We were both confined in the dorms, and had to clean the room–all of the rooms!–and no one could talk to us about all the things we were missing in class."
"That doesn't sound so horrible."
"Did you miss the part where I said I had to do all of that with Deku?"
….
"Hurry up!" Kaylee called from the Heights Alliance steps as she waited for Katsuki. "I'm going to be late!" She jogged in place in an effort to keep somewhat warm. Kaylee bunched her school jacket around her, wishing she'd thought about ordering cold weather clothing, and made a mental note to do so as soon as classes were over.
After Katuski left to go get dressed for the day, they'd met downstairs in the kitchen to grab a quick bite to eat–he'd laughed at her breakfast of leftover mac n' cheese. They'd cleaned up as usual, this time however, there might have been a few more quick kisses here and there when no one was around.
Kissing Katsuki, quickly became Kaylee's favorite thing ever! He was so patient, always so hesitant at first, like he was afraid she'd spook or get angry or something, but once she'd give him encouragement, he'd grow bolder, and Kaylee felt her face heat up again as she thought about the way he used his lips, tongue, and even teeth to kiss with.
"I'm coming, I'm coming," Katsuki grabbed his bag and slammed through the entryway. "I had to get the fucking bunny off the kitchen counter. I have no idea how he manages to jump that high on those puny hind–fuck! It's cold!"
Kaylee grinned at his expression. "Is it not supposed to be this cold?"
"No, this shit is too early. I mean, this feels like it might snow soon" He grabbed her hand as they went down the stairs. "I hate this weather. I hate snow."
Kaylee smiled sadly. "I never could see much of it when we lived in Colorado, even though it snowed for months at a time. Sometimes I'd imagine going sledding, or having snowball fights, or building snowmen. It made everything so quiet when it fell, and it was so pretty at night." Kaylee's tone grew wistful. "How come you don't like it?"
"My quirk, dummy,' he ruffled her hair affectionately. "I have to sweat to get it to work." He held open his palm and Kaylee watched as flames flickered, then grew larger. She held her hand over his open palm, the warmth sending pleasant shivers throughout.
"It feels fine to me," she told him. Katuski was frowning at his hand. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing, I guess. Maybe it wasn't as cold as I thought." He extinguished the flames and took her hand again, and Kaylee wanted to sigh at the heat of his rough palm. That sweet smoky scent was surrounding them.
"It usually takes me a minute to get a sweat going in this type of weather," he said. "Don't you have a coat or a scarf?"
Kaylee shrugged. "No, I'll have to order some later on today. I'm fine though, but we need to hurry–I'm going to be late to Mr. Aizawa's office and get in even more trouble."
"Here, take this at least." He took off the plain beige scarf he had around his neck and wound it around hers. It was warm from his body heat.
There were few students milling about, but most were either grabbing breakfast from the dining hall or getting in some early training, maybe even studying some before classes start.
"Why were you and Deku fighting?" Kaylee asked. "When you told me about your worst punishment here, you said you were fighting."
Katsuki gazed out over the grounds, looking pensive. Kaylee bit her lip. She knew he and Deku had grown up as kids and they didn't get along, but from his look, it might still be a touchy subject. She shouldn't have asked. "You don't have to tell me, if you don't want to," she whispered.
"No, it's not thatl Fuck, I just–it was right after I got kidnapped by the League of Villians. All Might lost his powers in that fight trying to rescue me. I blamed myself, but took it out on the nerd."
The League of Villains. Kaylee froze, stopping dead still.
"Hey? What's wrong?" He tugged on her hand, and she gripped it tightly.
"I–I–well, fuck." Kaylee met his concerned crimson gaze. She really should have said this long before now, but there was never a good moment, and then it was because she didn't want him to hate her.
He cupped her chin, running his thumb along her lip. "You just went white. Did you remember something?"
"Yes. I'm sorry, I should have told you this long before now, but I didn't want you to hate me."
"Don't be fucking stupid. What's going on?"
"The League of Villains," she whispered. "They were the reason we left Hong Kong. My captors wanted to buy their way into The League of Villains. I overheard them talking about it. There was some sort of summer camp and they were going to kidnap the UA student that won the sports festival. They used the last of the money to get us to Japan and then they met with some people-I didn't see who they were–but they were trying to join up with them. They gave the contact a bunch of money. I probably paid for that whole thing."
Kaylee sniffled, really starting to feel the cold. He hadn't taken his hand from her face, and she pressed into the warmth. "I wish I had told you earlier, before we started spending so much time together, because now–" she hiccuped–"now you'll probably hate me and I won't blame you, but after everything and this morning.."
"For fuck's sake," he snapped. Kaylee jerked back. He sounded angry. "You actually thought, actually thought–" his voice rose with that last word. "-that after every-fucking–thing we've been through–and I would somehow blame you for me getting kidnapped." He threw his arms up in frustration. "I thought you knew me better than that!"
Kaylee flinched, her insides plummeting. "I–I–"
"No, you don't speak right now. I want you to fucking listen to me." He placed a finger over her lips. God, he looked so angry and hurt. "I've been trying to take things slow with you, because of your past and all, and ok, so I was stupid as shit and didn't know what my feelings were for a long time. So, I'm going to make this perfectly clear–I'm abso-fucking-lutely crazy about you, you got that?"
"Yes."
"Good. Now come on, we're going to be late." Smiling so hard her face hurt, she grabbed the offered hand and held on tight.
….
The few students in the classroom immediately stopped talking the moment Bakugou entered. His eyes narrowed as he looked at Deku, who nervously ran his hand through his curly hair. Cheeks was leaning up against Deku's desk, and the pair gave him unusually cheery smiles.
"Good morning, Kacchan!"
"Uh huh," he replied coolly, throwing his book bag down and taking a seat.
Actually, it had been a good morning for Bakugou, the best morning in his life really, but damned if he'd let those assholes know that. He'd left Kaylee outside Aizawa's office, after giving her another kiss that had both of them gasping for air and Kaylee looking all sweetly flushed and glowing. He shook his head mentally, snapping back to reality.
Both Deku and Cheeks still had those unnerving smiles, and he glowered at them both. He turned to meet the ridiculously bright smile of Kaminari, leaning up on Jiro's desk.
"What's going on?" Bakugou was instantly suspicious.
"Oh nothing!" Deku laughed, the sound echoing. "Nothing at all!"
"It's just a good morning!" Jiro said from her spot.
"Yep," added Kaminari, nodding eagerly and giving him a thumbs-up.
Bakugou stared at the group as they all gave each other knowing looks. Deku and Cheeks were having an interesting silent conversation with nothing but raised eyebrows and head gestures.
"Ok, what's going on here?" Bakugou finally had to ask. Normally he wouldn't give a fuck, but they were really starting to piss him off and he actually wanted to hang on to his good mood for as long as possible, although considering his current company, and lack of the company he really wanted with him, it probably wouldn't be long anyway.
"Oh! Well, we were just talking about the training session yesterday," the nerd told him. "You know, since we didn't have much of a chance to talk about it last evening with all the excitement."
"Uh huh."
Deku and Cheeks both continued their silent conversation, and Bakugou turned to Lobes and Pikachu, who also were having a similar conversation.
"What the fuck is going on here?" he bellowed, slapping his fist on the desk. The four of them jumped.
Before any of the idiots could reply, Pinky dashed in followed by Kirishima. "Kaylee is still with Aizawa and we can't find Bakugou–" They both stopped in their tracks, shoes skidding on the freshly waxed floor. "Oh, there you are!"
"Hey buddy!" Kirishima quickly said, flashing an eerie smile.
Bakugou had enough of this shit. Something was going on and none of these assholes were going to get away with it! "Someone tell me right now what the fuck is going on!"
"Kaylee is with Mr. Aizawa in a meeting," Kaminari told him.
"I FUCKING KNOW WHERE SHE IS!" Bakugou exploded, letting his quirk go off, even if it was just a few sparks.
"Yes, well…." Kaminari fidgeted. "Why don't you ask him, Deku?"
All six heads turned to Deku. He coughed and pulled at his stupid fucking never-tied-correctly necktie.
"What? Why do I have to do it?"
"Because you were the one who brought it up!" Jiro stated.
"Yes, but I'm hardly the person that Kaccha–" Bakugou grabbed the asshole by the collar, choking him.
"Hey, stop that, Bakugou!" Cheeks had her hands out to touch Deku, like she was going to activate her quirk to defend her boyfriend.
"Fucking tell me what's going on!"
"Kaylee used her quirk yesterday!" Deku gasped, his face turning a nice shade of red.
Bakugou let go immediately. Was this what the big deal was? "So the fuck what?"
Sliding back down in his seat, Deku shot him a look. "Come off it, Kacchan! Kaylee used her quirk yesterday to escape!" He slapped his desk for emphasis. "She was tied up, just like all the other victims."
"So?"
"Holy woah, you cannot be this dense!" Deku cried. Bakugou growled. "Midnight used her carbon fiber cable–the one that Mr. Powerloader ordered specially! We all took her ropes course last year–both classes!" The nerd's voice had that stupid excited tone he got when he was describing something like pro-heroes and quirks.
Bakugou scowled, thinking. He knew Kaylee used her diamond quirk, but hadn't honestly thought that much about it, maybe because he'd been too distracted last night and this morning. He figured at the most, Aizawa would take care of it like he did when she accidentally used it the day they had that argument.
"Your point?"
"Out of forty students in both hero classes, only seven students passed!" Deku said impatiently. "Only students that had a power quirk like mine, or Kirishima, Tetsutetsu, or one like Yaoyoruzu's–she made something to cut through it–" his voice trailed off, and the fucking nerd started mumbling under his breath.
Motherfucking hell. Bakugou tried to keep his expression neutral, while panicking internally. Of course the fucking nerd Deku would start to connect the dots. Bakugou remembered Midnight's ropes course–it was on how to escape certain bindings, and she'd thrown both classes a curveball when she used that carbon fiber binding. The exercise was to escape within a certain time limit. Only a fraction of the students were able to do it. Bakugou's quirk wasn't able to blast it apart, due to carbon fiber being flame retardant. He remembered feeling a little down since it was another thing that Deku could get through, although Todoroki also had the same problem.
"What we're trying to say," Kaminari filled in the silence, "We think Kaylee's got to have a fucking awesome quirk to get out of her bindings like that."
The group agreed in unison. Bakugou clenched his fists, seriously thinking about murdering all of them, but knew he had to play this cool. "We're not supposed to be talking about her quirk."
"No, we were forbidden to ask Kaylee about her quirk," Jiro stated. "And we're not and we won't."
"Doesn't mean we can't ask you though," Kaminari shot him a cunning grin.
"Come on, Kacchan!" Deku pleaded. "Surely she's told you, right? As much as you two are together?"
"NO! Of course not!"
"But surely you might have noticed something," Deku said. "I mean, you spent the most time with her, and there's just no way she could have exercised such control over her quirk that you–of ALL people–as observant as you are, couldn't have picked up on something."
Manipulative motherfucking piece of shit. Bakugou scowled at the green-haired little prick.
"If Kaylee was forbidden to use or even talk about her quirk though, it's not like Bakugou could do anything about it," Kaminari said, and Bakguou remembered why he tolerated the asshole. He was annoying, and charming, and somewhat of a pervert, but he always managed to have his back.
"She had to have used it yesterday though." Jiro did that thing where she twirled her earphone jacks between her fingers, a sign she was really concentrating on something. "We were in that building for 2 hours, tops. That gave Kaylee enough time to get free on the 24th floor bathrooms, get into an A/C shaft, then manage to climb through those down to the 20th floor where we found her."
"Not to mention, she stopped on some other floors because she set off poison gas on one floor, and that tar stuff on the other," Kaminari added.
"And she said last night that she had to move fast or else that tar shit would have ended up in her eyes and not just the side of her head," Uraraka added. "She's got some fast reflexes to dodge that."
"Not to mention having to navigate through four floors of ventilation shafts," Kirishima added. "Jiro's right, she had to have used her quirk yesterday!"
"The cameras!" Pinky squealed, startling several of them. "They always have cameras on us during these trainings, I bet we'll see something then!"
"Yeah," agreed Deku. "We might even see those today!"
"Nope," Kirishima told them sadly. "The explosion in the elevators took out the cameras when the fire suppression system activated. It interfered with our comms too."
"Bakugou," Uraraka said softly, getting his attention. "I'm worried what will happen to Kaylee if her family was to find out. She never says anything about them, but I kinda get the feeling they were more than just way overprotective of her. Do you think she'll be punished?"
"No way!" Kirishima shook his head. "There's no way they could have her punished for that!"
"You don't know that for sure," Uraraka said. "She wasn't supposed to escape! All the victims had strict orders to stay where they were placed–"
"We've never had a training session go as planned!" Kirishima protested. "Most of the time they encourage it!"
"What if it's because of what she said?" Jiro wondered aloud. She looked at Bakugou. "You know, when she was criticizing the school? The comms were back on by then and all the teachers that were on the platform could have heard her."
"Nah," Bakugou scoffed. "I've heard Aizawa say worse during our first semester here, and besides that, Kaylee probably didn't even know what she was saying. She'd been breathing in the fumes from whatever the fuck was in her hair, not to mention the fucking gas leak."
The room got quiet as some of the other classmates strolled in.
Bakugou knew he needed to shut this shit down right now. "Look, all of you. I'm only going to say this once." He paused, making sure to make eye contact with each and every one. "I don't want to hear another word about the training session yesterday OR any quirk that Kayle may or may not have. And if," he held up his hand when Deku tried to speak. "If I find out any one has asked Kaylee, or even mention the word 'quirk' around her, you will pray for death by the time I'm done with you."
…..
For someone like Kaylee, who hadn't really experienced many positive emotions in her life, the morning for her had been a rollercoaster and she was feeling somewhat exhausted as she sat on Aizawa's couch. The morning started off as the best morning of her life. Waking up next to Katsuki–ok, so after she slapped him accidentally–but waking up next to him, kissing him, finally–after all her limited fantasies, experiencing that first rush of desire, knowing he was feeling the same—Kaylee had a hard time trying to focus on her glowing and it was adding to her exhaustion.
Kaylee sighed, pulling the beige scarf up around her to where it was almost covering her mouth. She inhaled the sweet smoky scent, while she waited for Mr. Aizawa. She knew it was silly, especially indoors, but she was keeping the scarf on.
She tensed once she heard the door open and Mr. Aizawa entered. He looked more stern than usual, his back was ramrod straight, and Kaylee felt heavy dread wash over her.
He sat down in his usual chair directly across from her, arms propped on his knees. Kaylee fidgeted nervously and waited.
He sighed, pulling his hand across his face. "I just had meetings with All Might, Present Mic, and Midnight. Not to mention Principal Nezu."
Kaylee wisely kept her mouth shut.
"You used your quirk," he said in a dead tone. "Midnight uses military grade carbon fiber bindings. In her class last year, only 7 students out of 40 managed to escape those–ones with very powerful quirks." He paused, letting her think over that.
Kaylee wanted to vomit. God, she was so stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid. How could she not have thought about this?
"Principal Nezu and I managed to get the others to understand that we were forbidden by your family to reveal any aspects of your quirk, and you were forbidden to use it. We did not give any specifics about what your quirk actually was."
She nodded, her throat so tight she wasn't able to speak. Her eyes burned with unshed tears.. God, she really might get expelled for this. Would she even have a chance to say goodbye to everyone, to Katsuki? Tell him how much she loved him, how much she appreciated everything he did for her? Give him one last kiss, one that she'd have to remember for the rest of her life because they'll put her back into the hospital or detain her somewhere else while Japan and the U.S figured out what to do with her?
"Look at me," Mr. Aizawa told her. Kaylee met his dark gray eyes, no longer caring that her own had tears pouring from them.
"These students are going to ask questions about how you escaped. Midnight has agreed to start the rumor that she didn't tie your bonds very tight for fear of hurting you, since you are technically a civilian and not a hero course student. A sudden strength boost from adrenaline gave you extra strength. That's how you got free."
"You've grown in the months that you've been here, Kaylee. I'm proud of you, I really am." He gave her a small grin, which made Kaylee feel worse. Was this his way of softening the blow? God, she was going to miss him too, so much. He was such a great teacher–no, he was more than that to her. He was the first person she'd ever met to have shown her kindness, pushing her when she needed to be pushed.
"You can't use your quirk, Kaylee. At all. For any reason. Do you understand me?"
She nodded, trying to keep back the sobs that wanted to burst from her chest. "You–you're not going to expel me?"
He sighed and glanced upwards. "Why is that always the first place your mind goes?" He shook his head quickly. "Never mind that. No, you're not getting expelled. But, I need to impress upon you the seriousness of this situation. You put yourself in danger! You could have been killed!"
"I wanted to help out! I'm tired of feeling useless here! I'm not part of the hero course, and that's fine–I don't want to be a hero! But now that you and Bakugou have shown me that there are things that I can do, that I'm not some helpless little child anymore–"
"I get that!" Aizawa interrupted. "Believe me I do!" He rose, coming to sit next to her on the couch.
They sat in silence for a moment.
"Does anyone else know about yesterday?" Kaylee asked. "You know, them?"
He sighed. "No. The principal and I are not in any communication with them. But that doesn't mean they can't get a hold of information if they really want to."
"I know we talked about this before, but could they be watching me?"
"I don't think so. But, you must have heard about the situation here two years ago–we had a spy working with the League of Villains. They were able to break into the USJ and kidnap Bakugou, along with some other things. While we've increased our security tenfold since then, I won't say it's not possible."
"They want something from me, don't they?" Kaylee asked. "The whole thing about them just wanting me to adjust until both countries come to an agreement—it's bullshit, isn't it?"
"I suspect so, yes," came the reply. "Principal Nezu and I are thinking about some possibilities."
Kaylee straightened up immediately.
"We're working from a few angles," he added. "I can't tell you more than that right now. But you can help us by keeping a low profile–no quirk usage–of any kind." He gave her a telling look, and Kaylee swallowed nervously. Had Aizawa noticed her glow? She glanced down at her arm–it was pale, but there was still a faint light emanating from her skin.
He grasped the back of her head and pulled her to him in an awkward sort of hug, bring a fresh round of tears to her eyes. "Keep training with Bakugou." He released her, then sighed.
"However, I am still going to have to punish you, since you broke rules. You will be confined to the dorms in the afternoons after classes and therapy–no training with Bakugou for the rest of the week."
Kaylee opened up her mouth wanting to protest, then quickly snapped it shut. It was a very mild punishment, but of course Aizawa would take away the time she spent with Katsuki.
"You will need to provide for your own meals while confined," he added. "No going to the dining hall in the evenings."
She bit her lip to keep from smiling. Guess Mr. Aizawa hadn't figured out that she rarely ate in the student dining hall and preferred to cook her own meals anyway, since there was so much she missed out on.
"Yes, sir," she replied, trying to sound contrite. This wasn't so bad.
He nodded. "Good. Now, we need to both get to class." He grabbed his big yellow sleeping bag and draped it over his arm as she rose from the sofa.
Kaylee wanted to ask him more about whatever he and Principal Nezu were working on to help her, but thought maybe she should speak to Bakugou about it first. Maybe he could figure out something.
She also knew she needed to figure out what the hell was going on with her glow, and what that meant.
