Soaring into the Unknown

A/N: Thanks for the reviews, they really keep me going.

Sandy came back from the store to see Squidward right where she left him, wrapped up in a blanket and a box of tissues next to him. She was quiet as put in The Bodyguard, sitting beside Squidward and handing him a bag of candy.

Squidward sighed as the movie played, fiddling with the bag of candy but not opening it.

"How were things on land?" Squidward asked, finally opening the bag, just to keep his hands busy.

Sandy glanced at him, letting out a sigh. "Where do I begin? The good thing is my case is solved n I reunited a family, n. . .I got asked to stay in Kismet."

"Will you?"

She only nodded in response, a blush creeping up on her face. "Yeah, I don't really have anywhere else to go with the treedome gone n there ain't much for me back in Yond."

Squidward smiled, nudging Sandy. "So, who's the lucky guy or girl?"

"It's, uh, he used to be my bodyguard. . .but I only took him up on the offer cause I don't have anywhere else to go."

Squidward looked at the movie and then back at Sandy letting out a snort.

"It was jus' for three days," Sandy continued, fully blushing. She watched as Squidward continued laughing, only stopping when he started choking on a piece of candy.

She patted his back as he hacked up the candy, putting the bag aside. "Alright, alright, it's good you found someone," he said more to the sky than to Sandy. "So, how long are you staying down here?"

Sandy smiled, turning her attention back to the television. "Jus' for a couple weeks, nothin' too major."

She might even stay a bit longer if she needed to. It looked like Squidward needed her more than he let on.

As they watched the movie and the sun slowly set in the sky, SpongeBob was walking home, humming to himself. He couldn't wait to see his friends.
