"What?"

Rin's heart throbbed in her eardrums.

"What do you mean he's..going to die..?" The girl whispered, her widened eyes stabbing the nurse's watery ones as she tried to smile through the pain. Her legs were shaking as she sat on the leather chair, and she couldn't help but begin to bite her nails as anxiety coursed through her stomach.

Keep it together, the girl quietly thinks. He'll be fine.

"The height he had jumped from was far too much for his body to surpass. He has serious damage to his legs, and the amount of blood he lost..it's.."

The nurse stopped speaking once Rin's cheeks were flowing with tears of desperation. No, he had to live, he had to, he needed to live—

"Ma'am, are you alright?-"

"There has to be some way you can save him!" Rin yelled across the ivory-colored hall, alerting the other nurses and doctors to turn their heads. "Please, there has to be some way you can save him.." She sobs, snot running out of her nose as she continues to cry uncontrollably. Her chest ached with unbearable pain and she felt like she was being pierced in the heart, just like that.

The nurse sighs. "I'm sorry ma'am, but there isn't any way we can try to save him. He's terminally injured, and the amount of blood loss is far too excruciating-"

"I can donate!" Rin yelled.

The nurse blinked in shock, opening her mouth a little. "What?"

"W-we're twins, s-so we have to be the same blood type, right?" She breathes erratically, her mouth forming into a tiny hopeful smile that could be shattered any minute. "Ma'am, your brother is blood type O. And the last time I checked, it doesn't work that way. We can try to find another person, but it might be too late-"

"Please! Do anything to save my brother!" Rin sobs and sniffles, "I'm begging you, please..He's the only family I have left.."

The nurse stared at the girl, bewildered and a little shocked. She sighs, giving the young female a sympathetic smile as she clutched her clipboard to her chest. "I'll see what I can do." The woman softly grasps her shoulder, squeezing it a little, and lets go before slowly walking away.

Rin silently cursed to herself as she prayed for her brother to make it. He can't die. He has to live, he has to bear with the pain even if he's suffocating through it, he has to bear with the pain somehow and move on from the tragic experiences. No matter how hard it is, he has to make it to the finish line.

Her cellphone began to ring. The girl grasped her cellphone, not even bothering to read the contact as she pressed her phone against her ringing ears.

"Hello?" She silently says, only to be greeted by hard gushes of wind and some shuffling every now and then, followed by a child's voice and laughter. "Rin?!" Gumi's sweet voice emitted from her speaker, "Oh thank God! Are you okay?! How's Len?! Please tell me he's okay!" She sobs.

Rin weakly smiled through the pain. "..Gumi..I..."

"I don't think he's gonna make it."

Gumi froze. "What? No no, you can't be serious. Are the nurses and doctors trying to find a way to get him to live?" The greenette spoke, her voice shaking and her breath erratic. "Some nurse is trying to, I suggested donating my blood but I don't think we're the same blood type." Rin says quietly.

Gumi silently cursed under her breath as she tried to stop herself from crying and making a scene in front of her mother and brother. "Shit..Agh.." The greenette began biting her nails anxiously, the worse case scenarios popping into her head. "Don't worry, Rin. He's gonna be fine. I'm sure he will."

"Yeah. I hope so. Thanks, Gumi. I'll call you later if anything." Rin smiles softly as she wipes her eyes, sniffling a little bit more. "Yeah, no problem. Anyway, I gotta go. Bye Rin-chan! Love you!"

"Love you too, Gumi."

And with that, Rin hung up.

Meanwhile, the anxious nurse from earlier hummed a little as she tried to remain calm throughout the slow stroll, staring at the walls every now and then while trying to remain hopeful. Deep down, she knew the poor girl's brother wouldn't make it. Yet she tried to give the girl some hope anyway, maybe if he's lucky, he'll-

"Code blue in room 103!"

Rin froze.

Isn't that..Isn't that Len's room..?

Oh shit, oh no—oh, fuck.

"Quick! He needs CPR!" A voice yelled.

"I don't think he's going to make it!" Another came.

That was it.

Like a bird soaring through the sky, Rin launched off from her seat as her legs began to ache while she ran through the bustling hallways, bumping into a few doctors and swiftly dodging some injured or sick patients on a moving bed.

The sound of an annoying screech filled her eardrums, plugging her hearing as she ignored the voices calling out to her, begging her to not go into the room that had a dreadful sight waiting for her to see.

God, please. Please, stay alive, Len!

'He's alive. He's alive' She recited in her head.

He's not dead.

He'll be waiting for her at home, waiting for her to buy some delicious sweets or yummy take-out food, then afterward, they can watch some stupid stand-up comedy shows and movies that were basically meant for children.

Then they can walk to school together on the bus, just like any other day—

"Miss?"

Rin was in front of Len's room, her porcelain blue eyes tracing her brother's face. His eyes were tightly shut, his face was pale, the life in his skin being washed off without any effort.

Her eyes landed on the heartline, and her heart shattered.

No. No. No.

"Ma'am-"

"NO!" Rin burst into an uncontrollable sob, snot flowing down her nose and tears rolling down her cheeks as she raged towards his bed. As the dead silence filled the hospital room, soft, hoarse hiccups started to fill her throat. "Len, please...no!" Sobbing in agony, Rin reaches out to wrap her arms around her dying brother, leaning close to his body. "For the love of fucking fuck's sake, please..! Stay with me!"

As she clutched his body tighter, the nurses and doctors tried to begin pulling her away from him, but she would not even let go. She couldn't muster up the courage to say goodbye to her brother, she just wanted to hold him one last time before he slips out of her fingers, forever. "We already lost Miku, I don't want to lose you too..!" The girl hoarsely sobs.

It was quiet. She was burying her red face into the edge of his bed, tears rolling down her face and saliva spilling out of her mouth as she continued to cry uncontrollably.

"Rin.." A gentle voice interrupted her thoughts, and she whipped her head instantly to face where it was coming from.

"Meiko?" The girl shuddered.

In the middle of her sobs, the woman smiled at the girl, wrapping her arms around her and digging her face into her shoulder as she sobbed and sobbed. Rin was reminded of a child when Meiko wailed and screamed. A begging, desperate child.

A desperate child that wanted to see their nephew again.

Rin too was desperate. Too desperate that she wouldn't ever want to let go.
