The Night Ninja: Yo, I completely understand. When I was trying to come up with a nickname for Zane, when I first thought of Virus I thought it would be insulting, but I also didn't completely throw it away. When I was thinking of how a virus could be used in a positive connotation, I decided that if you didn't follow along my thought process, it would be a bit confusing. So, a virus infects a computer and is pretty difficult to get rid of. Zane infected Kai with love, and (what I decided) Kai tried very hard to get rid of his feelings for Zane, but it prove more difficult than he thought. So, Virus isn't supposed to be insulting. Also, Smokey doesn't have anything to do with Kai's power. It has to do with him being a hothead. Like, how someone is angry and people say there's smoke coming out of their ears? It's like that.
Nuppa Nuppa: Since we're on the topic of nicknames, I could probably do a chapter about a bunch of different nickname the two lovers try out, and then have them stick with Virus and Smokey.
Somebody (Guest): Sure. I want to make this really good, so I'm going to post this a lot later. (Totally not an excuse for having to rewatch the episode five times to try and make a decision for what to do.)
Prompt: While lying in bed to go to sleep, Zane suddenly asks how Kai got his scar. Angst ensues. My own version of what happened to Kai's and Nya's parents.
I hope you enjoy this one, my children!
Kai was cuddled up to Zane in his favorite stolen hoodie. It had was pink hoodie that Zane never wore, but because he owned it, Kai stole it. Kai looked like he was going to fall asleep at any moment, but refused to because he could feel that Zane was thinking about something important, yet slightly distressing.
"Hey, Virus, what're you thinking about?" Kai mumbled tiredly.
Zane sighed. He might as well ask now. "I was just wondering how you got you scar?"
Kai tensed up, now fully awake. He sat up and turned away from his titanium boyfriend. "Great. Now I won't be able to sleep all night."
"I apologize, Smokey. You don't have to answer me. I should not have said anything. If it weren't a touchy subject you would have already told me." Zane said guiltily.
"No, you deserve to know. I mean, we love and trust each other, right? That means we tell each other everything."
Zane nodded. He didn't say anything, not wanting to discourage Kai from speaking.
"Well..."
A five year old Kai was walking around with his parents and three year old sister in Ignacia. They were heading back to their home after a shopping trip, which bored Kai, but he still had to come because apparently he still wasn't allowed to stay home alone. What can a five year old do that would be so bad if they stayed at home without their parents?
But that isn't the point. The point id, Kai was bored. And what do you bored kids do? They wander. And that's exactly what Kai did. He only went a few feet, to look through the window of a store. He got slightly distracted by more things in the shop windows, and din't realize how far away he really was from his parents. When he heard his mother yell for him, he turned but didn't see her. Where was she? Kai looked around, and tried to follow the sound of her voice, but had no luck in finding her. He felt someone pick him up, but it didn't feel like how his mother or father would.
"Get off me! Get off me! Mom! Dad!" Kai screamed. The man put his hand over Kai's mouth to muffle the child's screams.
The man carried Kai into an alleyway before throwing him to the ground. "Now be a good little boy and be quiet."
Kai sucked in a breath and started to scream again, before he was gagged by the man. "Oh, that's too much noise. And I'd rather if ya made that noise because of me rather than make it for yourself."
Kai glared at the man, but he still couldn't stop the fear from showing in his eyes. When the man started grabbing Kai, he gave a dark chuckle. "Now, how 'bouta deal? I won't hurt ya more than I am if you still like a good little boy, but if ya move, I cut ya. Understand?"
Kai frantically nodded. He didn't want to know what would happen to him either way, but he still didn't want to be hurt extra.
"Oh, you're a good little boy. A very, very good little boy." He touched Kai everywhere, and when he started feeling past his stomach, Kai whimpered and jerked away.
"Oh, I thought ya were a good little boy. A boy that wouldn't move at all. Ya nodded sayin' ya were. I told ya I wouldn't deal with ya movin' away fro' me. I have to cut ya now. You're pretty little face." The man dragged the knife from above Kai's eyebrow, to midway past through his cheek. Kai screamed in pain. Kai was lucky, though. A family of three passed by the alley, and the two adults rushed over.
"Kai!" The women yelled. It was his mother. She took the gag out of Kai's mouth, and used it as a bandage for Kai's face.
"Take Kai and Nya home! Meet me back here!" Ray yelled.
She nodded, grabbing Kai and Nya in her arms and running as fast as she could home.
"Alright, Kai. Use these bandages for your eye. Don't go anywhere. Understand?"
Kai nodded in fear.
"Oh, Smokey." Zane comforted. "Is that why you reacted so badly to that man at the store?"
Kai nodded. He took a shaky breath. "That's not even the worst part."
Zane felt slightly sick. How could anything be worse than what was just revealed to him.
"Big brother? Where are Mommy and Daddy?" Nya asked.
"Their just.. Out right now. They went to get... milk because... they forgot it. They'll be back." Kai responded slowly.
"Kay kay!" Nya smiled.
Kai sighed. He had a feeling something very bad was going to happen. He waited until Nya was asleep and went out of the house to go find the alley where his parents most likely were. When he got there, he immediately smelled blood. Please don't let be Mom and Dad. Please. Kai walked further down the alley and saw his parents on the floor right next to each other. In... a puddle of their own blood.
"Mom! Dad!" He fell by their side. He knew there was something about a pulse, but he didn't know where it was. Even so, he could tell they were dead. They were much too cold to the touch.
"Help! Somebody, please! My mom and dad are hurt! Help! Please, help!" Kai screamed.
A police officer ran into the alley. "What happened?"
Kai told the officer his story, breaking down crying halfway through.
"Hey, sh. We'll find the sick animal that did this, okay?" The officer murmured. "Now, do you know what the person looked like that did this to your parents?"
Kai gave a shaky nod.
"Alright, let's get you down to the station. You can try and tell then, alright?"
"Wait, my sister! She's at hom! We have to get her!" Kai panicked.
"Well, show me where your house is, and we'll grab her and then take you to the station, okay?"
At this point, Kai was barely keeping his tear at bay. "Th-they eventually c-caught him."
Zane grabbed Kai and hugged him with everything he had. "I'm so sorry, Smokey. I love you, I love you so much. I'm so sorry."
Kai couldn't take it, and he broke down in sobs. Zane gently shushed, running his hand through Kai's hair comfortingly.
After awhile, Kai calmed down enough to stop crying. He sat up, and rubbed his face to get rid of the tears. His hands brushed by his scar, and he tensed. Zane frowned, and took Kai's hands, leaning over to kiss Kai's scar.
"I love you so much, Smokey."
"Yeah, yeah. I love you too, Virus."
I'm so proud of myself for this chapter! I mean, I've never attempted to right anything this angsty, and I'm so happy! Incorrect quote?
Cole: Do you wanna tell me how you crashed the car?
Kai: Well, we were driving and this deer was in the middle of the road that Zane didn't see because he staring at me. So I shouted, 'Zane, deer!'.
Zane: ...
Kai: Do you want to tell him what your response was?
Zane: ...
Zane: 'Yes, Honey?'
