Prompt: "Well, this went horribly wrong…"

Alex looked down, shaking her head ruefully as she pinched the bridge of her nose. "Weelll, that went HORRIBLY wrong," she stated.

"But..." Supergirl sighed and looked at the new hole in the wall. "You told me to test the laser. Was I not supposed to touch it?"

The director looked down at the tablet clenched in her hands and sighed. "You didn't do anything wrong, Supergirl. I just underestimated your ability to get... irritated... when you're hungry."

"Why does that feel like a thinly veiled insult?" the Kryptonian muttered, crossing her arms over her chest and bristling a little as her stomach growled at the same time.

"It's not," Alex soothed. "It's just that the drone the laser was mounted on cost eight million dollars and it's just... spare parts now. I would have preferred if you hadn't destroyed that. But..." She held up a hand in acknowledgement. "In fairness, I didn't say that in advance."

Supergirl looked a little sheepish. "No, I shouldn't have destroyed the drone," she admitted. "I got pissed off 'cos the laser hurt me, and I wasn't expecting that. Plus, I missed breakfast."

Alex frowned. "Wait... it hurt you? I had it set to a low setting. It shouldn't have..." She trailed off as she looked over the test results on her tablet's screen. "Oh... crap. Supergirl, I'm so sorry. The testing is registering an error in the temperature control system. The laser overheated, which is why it hurt you." She looked at the hero then with a look of dismay on her face. "If I'd sent that out into field testing it could have really hurt someone."

"Wow, it kinda did go horribly wrong," Supergirl stated. But then she reached out to squeeze her sister's shoulder. "But if anyone can fix it, you can," she encouraged. "Let me know when you want me to test again. I'll try not to swat the drone next time."

"That WAS kinda funny," Alex sniggered. "You literally did swat it like a fly."

Kara wrapped her arm around Alex's waist to stroll with her toward the cafeteria. "It was very annoying. It lets out this whine too that's at a high-pitched frequency. It makes my ears wobble."

"Well," Alex smiled. "Maybe I'll try to fix that too, if it'll make things easier for you."

Kara grinned affectionately. "You da best, Big Sista!"

"You know it!"
