Prompt: "The wonderful world of high school drama."

"Excuse me, Miss Danvers?"

"Yes?" Kara paused, looking around to see who'd called her name. "Oh, hey, Carter. What's up?" But she shook her head in dismay then and went to him, crouching to gently tilt his bloody face up so she could see the damage. "Honey, who did this to you?"

The boy shook his head. "I didn't see," he said.

"Carter..."

"I didn't see," he said again, stubbornly this time.

Kara nodded and then straightened. "Let's get you cleaned up." She walked along the hallway with her stepson, then brought him into a staff bathroom. "Your mom's gonna want to know," she said softly as she cleaned his lip and chin. Then she tilted her glasses down and x-rayed his nose. "It's not broken but she's gonna be upset that someone hit you."

"No one hit me," the boy said quietly. "I just fell."

"On your nose?" Kara asked with raised eyebrows, amused that he was trying to now change his story. "Whatever this is, you know you don't have to face it alone. Supergirl will..."

"NO!" Carter exclaimed loudly, surprising Kara. "Please no, it's hard enough that you and Mom both work here. I don't need you swooping in to save me as Supergirl, Kara. I'll just get beaten on worse."

"Oh, Honey," the blonde said softly. "I'm so sorry. I didn't know."

But Carter just pulled away and shook his head. "Just the wonderful world of high school drama," he replied. "Please don't make it any worse than it is."

Kara pushed his hair back from his eyes and nodded. "Ok," she said. "I promise."

The boy nodded. "I'd better get to class," he said. The hero nodded again and just patted his shoulder.

"Love you," she said with a smile.

"Love you too," Carter replied. "See you later."
