*Enjoy the start of the new year, everyone. Hopefully, 2022 treats us less shittily than 2021. Have a good day!*
...
The assassins made it back to the sanctuary shortly after their group leap of faith. Each of them entered the sanctuary one after the other.
Kane managed to land on the ground first, but there wasn't anyone waiting for him on ground level ready to criticise his landing.
He patiently awaited everyone else to land inside. As soon as he saw everyone, he raised his voice.
"It was a great day, everyone! You're all dismissed for the night!"
He quickly hurried to his office to relax for the rest of the night. While entering his office, he took off his winter robes, sat back down in front of his computer and turned it on. After a few moments, it turned on and he began by opening up his email. Since he spent all of last night doing research on anything related to the fragment of Eden he found, he only had one unread email, and it was marked as important.
His eyes widened a small bit as he got intrigued. It was an email sent directly from master Kingston's office.
Brian Kingston.
The current master of the creed.
It was always known he'd be the next in line to be the master of the creed due to his father being the master before him. Nobody liked Kingston that much, however.
Kane was indifferent about him, so he casually opened the message.
It contained two contracts, which Kane read through carefully. They seemed less important than their previous work, so Kane lit his pipe smoke and closed his email for the night. He decided to deal with these in the morning with the group and he fell asleep right afterwards.
...
Kane woke up feeling refreshed around 8 o'clock. He quickly made it to the kitchen which wasn't far from his office at all. He just had to walk down the hallway. Hugh was already waiting for him with a cup of coffee.
"Morning, brother. Hope you've slept well."
"Yeah, I'm feeling better than before," Kane quickly walked over to the coffee machine and grabbed an empty mug. "Oh, right. I got a message from Kingston last night."
Hugh took off his reading glasses, put his book down and turned around. "Must be something important, then?"
"We have two contracts to handle for today."
Hugh's face brightened just a small bit. "Do tell, brother, do tell."
Kane sat down after a few moments with his fresh cup of coffee.
"We got a choice. Kingston's worried about the people John Smith was in contact with. Technically, we still don't know who those people are, but we have to take care of them. That's one of the contracts," Kane took a big sip of coffee. "The second one has something to do with an abandoned boat warehouse near the mouth of the town's river. Apparently, there's been reports of suspicious-looking fellas who have been gathering in the warehouse."
"Ah, I think I remember that! We heard reports of people using that warehouse at night, but we couldn't tell for sure what it was for. For all we know, it could have just been a bunch of kids skateboarding at night. Many burned down or closed spaces in town are used for people's entertainment. People are just that bored nowadays."
Hugh placed his fingers on his nose bridge and leaned back in his chair slightly.
"Right. Kingston assigned two people to complete each contract." Kane paused for a moment. "Do you think we should let the kids go together?"
"Both of them on one contract? I mean, it went well last time, and these contracts seem like they're gonna be easier than the previous ones." Hugh pinched his chin and placed his elbow on the desk. "I'm all for it if you're okay with it."
"I think it'll be a good experience for both of them. We should probably give them the warehouse contract. I was the person who did the John Smith contract, so I'd at least know a bit about him and where he operated. That would give us an advantage, so how about it, brother?"
Hugh exhaled through his nose and looked at his brother with a determined look.
"Let's do it, brother!"
They shook each other's hands and shared a proud look.
...
Luka and Ashley did their regular morning rituals. Luka returned to the sanctuary after his morning run and entered the kitchen shortly after Hugh and Kane did. They exchanged hello's and Hugh and Kane briefly explained both of the contracts to Luka. Luka was ready to do another contract and exclaimed that he was looking forward to it. The three men patiently waited for Ashley to show up in the kitchen. After a while, she did and she had the same reaction as Luka. Both of them were determined to prove themselves. After their breakfast, they immediately bolted for the gym to practice a few moves with and without their new weapons together. Workout sessions at the sanctuary always went smoother if people would workout together.
The only other notable thing that happened was that Rae suddenly remembered Ashley asked for a custom made dagger to be made. Rae finally managed to prepare it for Ashley just in time for today's contract.
Nothing much else happened until the crew was prepared to start their contracts a bit later in the afternoon.
"Right, are we all ready?" Kane questioned the rest of the group as he tightened his hidden blades and coat.
"Yessir!" The only one that seemed to respond with words was Hugh.
The juniors nodded firmly in sync.
"Then there's no reason to fret on at all. Whenever you're ready, juniors. We'll go after you to ensure you aren't followed."
The juniors saluted and nodded firmly once more before making their way out of the sanctuary.
Kane observed them exiting the sanctuary, and when they were out of sight, he lowered his head and closed his eyes.
"There's no need to worry, Kane. They'll be fine." Hugh supported his brother and remained positive.
"You're right. They can handle themselves." Kane slowly started walking towards the exit with Hugh right behind him. "But if anything goes wrong..."
Hugh respectfully cut his brother off. "I know. We'll be there in a flash. From here on out..."
Hugh paused for a moment until Kane stopped moving.
"Every contract is a group effort from the Croatian Creed!"
Kane turned around and smiled proudly.
...
Kane and Hugh made it out of the sanctuary and noticed both of the juniors across a few rooftops. They quickly scanned the area and started parkouring in the opposite direction.
After making it out of the centre of town, Hugh spoke up.
"We're heading back to Bosut, aren't we?"
"Our best bet to finding any new information floating around Bosut is to talk to Malcolm."
"Ah! It's been so long since I've seen him."
"He hasn't changed much, but he's bulked up quite a bit."
"Glad to hear he's doing good!" Hugh shouted with excitement and began running. "Let's go, brother!"
"Right!"
Kane sprinted after him.
...
Luka and Ashley had a similar experience as they were parkouring their way out of the centre of town.
"Didn't Kane mention that the warehouse was at the mouth of the river?" Ashley quickly asked.
"Yeah. The river flows into another river that goes throughout most of the region and ends near Serbia. We should be able to make it there within 15 minutes."
"Ah, so it's not that far away, huh?"
"Not particularly. It's still within the vicinity of the town. Let's hurry, though, the sooner we get this done, the better."
"Right behind you, love!"
Ashley and Luka kicked it up a notch.
...
After making it to Bosut, Kane and Hugh manoeuvred the neighbourhood calmly. Things may still be heated up because of John Smith's body and that entire mess in one of the alleyways. With a few casual greetings and hand gestures, Kane and Hugh made it through the streets with ease. A few police officers were seen in some of the smaller bars, supposedly getting witness reports from people seeing John Smith around.
Hugh noticed this and spoke up.
"You reckon they could be at Malcolm's?"
"Malcolm's always had a good relationship with the police. I'm sure it's fine if we enter now." Kane replied quickly and kept his increased pace up.
Hugh followed just as fast.
They made it to Malcolm's bar within a few minutes and Kane carefully opened the door. Malcolm's bar had a small hallway you had to go through to enter the bar itself, so you could never see who exactly entered the bar until they walked a bit further.
"We're closed for the day!"
A nervous shouting caught Hugh and Kane's attention. It was definitely Malcolm, but he sounded distraught, nervous, even scared.
"Don't worry, Malcolm, we're only here to..." Hugh positively raised his voice as he and his little brother entered the bar fully.
His sentence was cut short due to the number of thugs inside of the bar. One of them had complete control of Malcolm's movements because he pulled a gun on him. Malcolm was standing next to a jukebox close to the staff room. He wasn't at the counter, where he had access to a concealed handgun.
"Well, ain't this a fucking treat." Kane's expression darkened as he raised his voice. "Somebody better explain to me what is happening in front of my eyes right now."
After patiently waiting, none of the thugs spoke up. They filled up pretty much the entire bar. All of them looked stronger and more built than average. Luckily, the only one who had a gun was the one who was pointing it at Malcolm. If he took his eyes off of Malcolm, he would become disarmed instantly.
"I guess it's good we didn't bring the kids here, Kane." Hugh's tone turned rough and raspy.
Kane quickly looked at his brother, waiting for a response.
"They don't get to witness this bloodbath."
Hugh cracked his knuckles and stepped forward. He was certainly the biggest person in the room. It looked like he had bloodlust in his eyes. Hugh's family code has always been: "If you mess with anyone close to Hugh, you mess with Hugh himself."
And, as everyone who's ever met Hugh knows, nobody wanted to mess with him.
A few thugs grew a pair and stepped up towards the middle of the room which was more open.
Hugh tightened his gloves and his collar and loudly exhaled through his nose.
Suddenly, at least five thugs charged him.
...
"There it is!"
Luka shouted as he pointed towards the abandoned warehouse.
"You're right, that didn't take long at all." Ashley crouched down to put herself into a better position.
They were standing on top of a convenience store rooftop.
"Are we both going in?" Ashley spoke up after a few moments.
Luka hesitated but replied shortly afterwards.
"I would rather have you on standby somewhere nearby. We have no clue what's in there."
Ashley stood up, walked over to Luka and touched his cheek.
"I know you want me to stay safe, but we both know how this should be done."
After another few seconds of hesitating, Luka calmly grasped the top of Ashley's hand which was still on his face.
"Let's go, then."
Ashley smiled warmly as they finished their wholesome moment.
They quickly made it down from the roof and quietly made it across the walkway next to the river. After thoroughly checking the area around them, they walked up to one of the entrances, a side door. Entering the huge door where the boats would go through would be too obvious. After entering, they realised it was pitch black. Luka held up a finger that Ashley couldn't see, indicating that they should wait. A second or two after Luka rummaged through one of his pockets, he pulled out a lighter and lit it. He quickly found a desk next to them that had a lantern on it.
Convenient.
Luka lit the lantern and carefully grabbed it. It brightened up the area quite a bit. Ashley gave him a thumbs up with both hands which made Luka reply with a single thumbs up.
"Let's stick together." He quickly whispered.
After walking closer towards the middle of the room, they noticed a giant boat next to them. The boat was elevated off the ground by a machine and there were a lot of crates located beneath it. They didn't have any labels, but they all seemed new. No dust on them or any kind of hints around them that indicated they've been here a while. The juniors quickly continued with their exploration as they walked up to a bigger desk. It contained a book that looked similar to a journal and a ton of scrambled papers and pens next to it. It even had boat schematics next to it. The book seemed quite important, so Luka reached out to grab it. As soon as he pulled his hand out, he heard the big front door to the warehouse opening. He quickly told Ashley to hide as he blew inside of the lantern. The light went out and he dove for the boat that Ashley hid behind. They weren't physically noticed, but the lantern being misplaced and freshly turned off was.
Three figures entered the warehouse. It sounded like one of them was talking even before they began opening the door.
"We do have a meeting tonight, right?"
"Yeah, there should be a whole group of templars here soon. I made sure they received the message and most of them did manage to reply in some way..."
The tall figure quickly stopped talking.
"What is it, brother?"
"The lamp."
He pointed his hand towards the freshly extinguished lantern and quickly changed his tone.
"Somebody's here."
The second figure quickly turned towards the shortest one.
"Quickly, hit the generator!"
The generator was turned on and the entire warehouse lit up. The biggest figure quickly noticed there was somebody behind one of the boats.
"You behind the boat! Come out this instant!"
After a few moments, Luka stood up and marched in front of the boat.
"One of the juniors!"
The biggest figure's eyes widened as he shouted.
Luka brightened his expression as he smiled.
"Am I that famous around here?"
"There's no way you came out here by yourself. Where's the girl?!"
"Why would she be here? That's none of your concern."
Luka kept his cool and answered calmly.
"I guess this is easier for our plan. Line up, brothers!"
Luka's eyes widened a small bit as the shortest figure stepped up first, followed by the second largest figure and finally the largest figure.
Federico, the youngest.
Leonardo, the middle child.
Marco, the oldest.
All of them had the same last name.
Begucci.
Luka placed himself into a fierce stance as he put his guard up. He didn't want to resort to his billhook just yet.
Federico had the chains, Leonardo had the two baseball bats and Marco was armed with the katana.
"Federico, show him the power of the young templars!"
Federico stepped up with both of his chains and readied himself to dash in. As soon as he finished placing his pivot foot forward, Luka charged in and swung at his liver. He managed to land a severe liver blow and he followed up with a right kick to the face and a left kick to the body. Federico's face twisted in pain as he fell to the ground. Luka prepared to stomp down onto Federico, but Leonardo swung at Luka with one of his bats. Luka managed to duck under it, but he was met with the second bat, which swung hard at his face. He managed to put up his guard right before the moment of impact, but he got knocked backwards anyway. Leonardo's sturdy bat almost broke against Luka's solid cross-armed block.
Luka lowered his arms and revealed his face. His nose was bleeding and he had a bruise on one of his cheeks. He couldn't protect himself against all the impact, but he was still ready to go.
"I'm impressed you withstood that."
Leonardo quickly inspected his bat and noticed it had a crack in it.
"Right, I guess I'll be your opponent now..."
Leonardo's sentence was cut short as Luka charged in once more. He was like a boar bulldozing his way through the fight. Luka managed to pay Leonardo back by throwing a huge hook which smashed the already damaged bat that Leonardo was holding. Luka quickly followed up with a punch aimed right down Leonardo's face. The middle child was knocked back this time around and he crouched down on one knee, gripping his stomach. He quickly spat a huge load of spit and blood onto the ground and yelled towards Marco.
"He's fucking strong!"
Marco withdrew his katana from his sheathe and immediately charged at Luka. Meanwhile, Federico managed to get up. He sharply stepped forward and threw out one of his chains towards Luka's face. Luka quickly turned towards Federico and made his decision instantly. He stepped in towards Federico once more and made it past his first chain, but he couldn't make it past the second one. At the last possible moment, Federico swung his chain from the floor, like an uppercut.
Luka's head snapped back as his legs gave out and he slid past Federico. Federico collapsed to the floor once more due to exhaustion.
"Way to go, Federico! That'll teach the Croatian dog!"
Luka's eyes immediately awoke from his unconscious state. He stomped his foot down and managed to prevent himself from falling.
"Say that...one more goddamn time..."
Luka's entire body was bent forwards due to all the damage he received. His messy hair covered most of his face whilst he was barely standing.
He lifted his face just enough to where his eyes could be seen. They were filled with hatred and ferocity.
"...and I'm gonna send you back to wherever the fuck you came from."
The Begucci brothers were shocked he could still stand from all that. Marco quickly gathered his younger brothers and set them aside. He started moving towards Luka slowly as he drew his katana.
Luka tried to collect himself, but he was struggling to do so. He slowly moved his hand towards his back, attempting to reach the billhook. He managed to touch it, but he couldn't grasp it as he fell on one knee. His fist smashed into the ground as he held himself up from falling completely. Suddenly, an arrow landed in between Marco and Luka.
Marco instinctively stopped and backed off a small bit as the arrow exploded into a big cloud of smoke. The Begucci brothers covered their faces and coughed heavily.
Once the smoke cleared, Luka was sitting on top of a few crates. He was opening a small medkit.
"There you go, lovely. I always carry one around. Patch yourself up." Ashley calmly said as she turned around and glared through Marco.
"Pick on someone your own size, twink."
...
Kane simply leaned back against a wall and let Hugh go to work.
Hugh smashed his shoulder into a thug, grabbed him and threw him at another thug. He quickly stomped both of their faces, killing them instantly. He managed to quickly turn around towards a few more thugs. He quickly knocked them all out with a single blow, picked them all up and threw them out of the window. Two thugs were positioned near Kane and they attempted to retreat through the broken window. Kane fired a grappling hook out of one of his hidden blade holders which stabbed a thug through the eye. He quickly retracted his grappling hook, immediately stepped in and stabbed the other thug through the heart.
"Not a fucking chance you're leaving in one piece."
The remaining thugs hesitated, but they were quickly chased down by Hugh. He stabbed one through the neck, grabbed another one by the neck and gripped it so hard that he broke his neck. There were two thugs left and one of them still had the gun pointed at Malcolm. Hugh slowly walked up to a cowering thug, grabbed his head, lifted him slowly and squeezed as hard as he could. He broke the thug's skull and tossed him aside. At this point, only fear could be seen on the armed thug's face.
"Let's play a game."
The thug's eyes widened and he started sweating heavily.
"You tell me what I want to know, and I give you a quick death. You avoid my questions, and I break each one of your bones, one by one."
Hugh cracked his neck and his knuckles at the same time as the thug pointed his gun towards Hugh.
Malcolm seized the opportunity and immediately disarmed him. Hugh casually pushed the thug against the wall and punched a hole through the thick wall beside the thug's face.
Hugh and Malcolm exchanged a friendly nod.
"Tell me what the fuck you were doing bothering Malcolm."
"Okay, o-okay! I'll talk! There were these hooded men who wanted information about John Smith and the s-stupid ring he had! This fat bastard is the only viable source of information around this stupid ass town!"
He quickly shut up after Hugh grabbed his collar. He pulled the thug closer towards him and looked him dead in the eye.
"Do me a favour."
"Yes, a-anything!"
"Say hello to all the templars in hell."
Hugh headbutted the thug and threw him to the ground. He nodded towards Malcolm and waved his hand in the thug's direction. Malcolm blew his brains out with a single shot.
"Long time no see, Malcolm." Hugh started to calm down and reverted to his positive self.
"Nice to see you're doing okay, Hugh."
They exchanged a handshake and a hug as Malcolm looked towards Kane. Kane quickly saluted him and smiled happily.
"Let's get out of here, fellas. The police will probably arrive soon. I'll take you to my apartment."
Malcolm spoke up as he grabbed his jacket and backpack.
They quickly fled the scene and made it to Malcolm's apartment, which was also located in Bosut.
As they entered, Malcolm placed his items down in the hallway. His apartment was tidy and very cosy.
"Does anyone want a cup of tea or coffee?" Malcolm asked with comfort in his voice.
"Get me a cup of tea," Kane spoke up first as he entered the living room.
"I'll have a coffee," Hugh said as he followed his brother. "Have you been alright, Malcolm? Other than that shithole of a situation."
"Business has been going well, Hugh. Thanks for asking. I hope you guys are doing good, as well. Sorry for not checking in on you in a while." Malcolm brought two tiny plates to the coffee table in the living room. Kane and Hugh sat down on the couch. As Malcolm was returning to the kitchen, Kane took out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter and pointed towards the pack with a questionable look on his face. Malcolm quickly nodded and gave him a thumbs up.
Kane took out a cigarette and lit one.
"Don't worry about it, brother. Life sometimes becomes very busy. And all of a sudden, boom, a lot of time passes."
"You can say that again. I mean, just a few months ago Eli moved out. It feels like it happened ages ago, though." Malcolm finished boiling the water and grabbed two mugs.
"How's Eli? Has she been able to focus on her studies more?" Hugh spoke up he leaned back on the couch.
"Since moving out, yeah. She's in Budapest right now. She landed a scholarship there and she updates me constantly."
"Kids, eh? They grow up fast." Kane finished his cigarette rather quickly and threw it into the ashtray.
Malcolm brought the mugs to both of them. He still remembered their usual tea and coffee orders, so he didn't have to ask for details. "Right. But, I bet you're wondering what I know about John Smith."
"You know we'd never interrogate you, Malcolm. We need to know, though."
Malcolm nodded calmly. "Don't worry, Kane. It's nothing like that. When you visited me a few days ago, I told you truly everything I know. And I haven't learned anything new since."
Hugh and Kane sipped their drinks with a bit of disappointment in their eyes.
"I'm truly sorry, lads. All this encounter tells me is the templars are aware of my presence around here. I may need to lay low for a while."
"That's fine, Malcolm. Are you sure you can't think of any other reason or connection to him?"
"Nope. None. I told you, I only know his alias and his general location of where he used to do business, which is where Kane found him."
Kane nodded in confirmation as he put his mug down. "Do you happen to know anything about templars operating in that abandoned boat warehouse at the mouth of the river?
Malcolm gripped his chin and took a few moments to think.
"I've heard of people doing shady business there at night, but that could just be a bunch of druggies dealing drugs to each other. I don't have any specific information on that, either. You know the outskirts of town aren't my forte, I stick to the streets."
The brothers quickly finished their drinks and stood up.
"Well, we very much appreciate the talk, Malcolm." Kane walked over to him and tapped him on the shoulder.
"Don't be a stranger."
Hugh and Malcolm exchanged a handshake as they both walked towards the exit.
"Stay safe, gentlemen!" Malcolm got up and waved them out of his apartment.
Both assassins gripped the front edge of their hoods, kind of like an assassin's version of tipping a hat.
After making their way to the stairs of the apartment building, they engaged in conversation.
"That kinda blows." Hugh scoffed.
"It does, doesn't it? Not even Malcolm has any information. This is some serious shit we've gotten ourselves into this time."
Hugh nodded in confirmation as Kane took a look at his wristwatch.
"Shit, it's late. The juniors should be back by now."
They made it out of the building and upped their pace.
"Hopefully they bring us some good news, at least."
The brothers started sprinting towards a building they intended to climb to get to the rooftops.
...
Marco dashed towards Ashley and swung his katana in her direction several times. Ashley managed to dodge them all with ease and she even returned a few straight punches in between Marco's swings. She quickly pulled out her dagger and tried to slice at a few of Marco's limbs. Unfortunately for Ashley, Marco dodged the slashes and rolled backwards. She quickly chased him down and they got into a few exchanges where they both dodged every hit. This went on for some time until Leonardo pulled himself together and chucked his intact baseball bat towards Ashley. The tip of the bat managed to hit her and it put her off balance just enough so that Marco could slash at her properly. Ashley quickly threw her dagger towards Marco, but it barely missed his damaged shoulder that Kane stabbed a few nights ago. Luckily, it did manage to slice him enough to get him to retreat and mess up his slash slightly. However, he managed to stab her nonetheless. Ashley gripped her open wound on her stomach and collapsed backwards. She yelped in pain and fell flat on her bottom.
Marco gripped his shoulder and let out a painful grunt. He took a few moments to collect himself, but he quickly got punched in the stomach and shoved backwards. Luka bolted towards Ashley after pushing Marco to the ground with a bandage in his hand.
"ASHLEY! It's okay, love, it's okay."
Luka quickly lifted her upper body and wrapped the bandage around the wound quickly.
"Can you press that wound down for me, love?"
Ashley managed to nod in between her grunts. She gripped it tightly and Luka pressed it down with her. He laid her down against a few boxes and helped her adjust.
Leonardo walked over to the baseball bat he threw and picked it up. He started playfully smacking the top of his bat into his other hand. Federico collected himself as well and stood next to this big brother. The two brothers stared Luka down as if they were inviting him to get up and fight.
"Alright, you fuckers."
Luka got up and planted his feet to the ground hard. He grabbed his billhook and pressed the button near the centre of the handle. It suddenly extended and he started spinning it around to get a feel for it.
"It's showtime."
He thrust the billhook forwards with the blade turned towards them.
Leonardo turned towards Federico and changed his tone to a serious one.
"Federico, help big brother tend to his wound."
Federico's eyes widened as Leonardo gripped his baseball bat with both of his hands.
"Go."
Federico quickly followed his brother's orders and ran towards Marco. Leonardo turned back towards Luka with a firm gaze.
"Let's go, junior."
Luka grinned and grasped his billhook with both of his hands.
...
Hugh and Kane made it back to the sanctuary and quickly entered through the vents.
It felt like the city was empty, it was that kind of night.
Peaceful, but lonely.
After they landed in the main hall, they were met with Rae sitting on one of the chairs.
Kane landed first with Hugh shortly following.
"Rae! Everything alright?" Kane walked up to Rae who looked pretty worried.
Hugh walked behind Kane and put his hands on his hips.
"The babies aren't back yet."
Both of their expressions turned dark.
"The juniors aren't back?!" Hugh repeated the statement to confirm.
Rae nodded firmly, but slowly.
Kane immediately turned towards his big brother.
"Hugh, let's go!"
As soon as Hugh firmly nodded, Kane dashed back towards the exit. Hugh quickly kissed Rae on the forehead and ran after Kane.
Both Kane and Hugh made it out of the sanctuary within a minute and they both started parkouring towards the warehouse instantly.
...
In the same police station mentioned a few nights ago...
A conversation occurred between a few officers.
"We're getting reports of noise complaints from the owner of the convenience store. The lights are on in the abandoned warehouse across the river."
Chief officer Patrick Brown, the officer in charge of case #45, was the one to respond to the call.
"I'll go take a look at it. This is the fifth noise complaint from that warehouse this week. Come on, boys, let's check it out and we'll finish for the night."
Brown put his coat on and left the police station with a few officers by his side.
...
Luka and Leonardo both dashed forward at the same time. Luka thrust his billhook down the middle, but Leonardo managed to dodge the swing and stepped in hard. Luka quickly retracted the billhook and prepared to counter Leonardo's wide swing. The retracted billhook was as big as a shortsword, but the blade was still just as big as it always is. Luka swiftly dodged the swing, turned the bottom of the billhook towards Leonardo and extended the billhook once more. The billhook pressed hard against Leonardo's chest and shoved him back a metre or two. Luka started spinning the billhook and he repeatedly kept getting direct hits onto him with the bottom of the staff. Leonardo managed to collect himself and he focused on dodging Luka's swings. He dodged quite a few and he swung at Luka's body, which connected cleanly. Luka returned a punch towards Leonardo's face, which also connected. Both men were knocked backwards as they both fell onto the ground. Everyone inside of the warehouse shook as they heard a bunch of cars pulling up towards the big entrance. A bunch of thugs sprinted into the warehouse. This was the backup of the Begucci brothers.
Luka spat on the ground beside him as he quickly stood up. He was now facing at least a dozen thugs. He knew he couldn't take them all on in his current state, though.
"Son of a whore."
That's all he could mumble in the middle of his heavy breaths.
All the thugs slowly approached him until a smoke bomb was thrown in the middle of all of them. A shadowy figure flew into the scene from one of the windows.
Luka focused on the figure for a moment and realised it was Kane. Hugh was entering through the side door. Both of them had their weapons ready.
Luka's eyesight collided with Hugh's as they firmly nodded towards each other. As soon as Hugh looked away from his junior, Luka sprinted towards Ashley, who was now unconscious. He quickly grabbed her arms and legs and carried her towards the side door.
Kane dashed towards Marco and Federico.
"What the fuck did I tell you?"
Kane stabbed Marco through the eye with his sabre, quickly stepped forward and stabbed Federico through the heart with one of his hidden blades. He quickly looked over towards Leonardo, who just walked out of the range of the smoke bomb.
Hugh dashed in front of him in a split second and pounded him to the ground with his hammer. He kept slamming his hammer into his lungs and ribs until he finally smashed his skull with a single big swing.
Kane and Hugh looked at each other and they both began retreating through the side door. As soon as the smoke cleared, police sirens could be heard from the front of the warehouse.
Safe to say, a lot of people were arrested that night.
...
They made it back to the sanctuary safely.
Luka was holding onto Kane for a while for support. He let go of him to land in the sanctuary. Kane landed first and patiently awaited for Luka to land safely. He caught him on the bottom and whistled towards Hugh, indicating that it was safe. Hugh climbed down carefully with Ashley in his arms.
Rae immediately stood up and ran over to Luka.
"Luka, my baby, are you okay?!"
"I'm holding up."
Luka could barely stand, so he leaned against Rae.
"Come on baby, let's get you to the infirmary."
Rae looked at Kane and nodded, showing that she can handle taking Luka to the infirmary.
Hugh finally landed and he began sprinting towards Rae.
Kane immediately began running towards his office. He picked up his phone and dialled a long number.
"Come on..."
He impatiently tapped the edge of his desk.
"Barton speaking."
"Kane White. Hook me up to Kingston. Immediately."
...
