Disclaimer: I do not own either Bluey or Mulan, only how the story goes. Bluey belongs to Ludo Studio and Mulan belongs to Disney. The only thing that I do own are the OC's of the story. I do apologize for any errors in grammar and/or if I was not accurate in reference to something.

A/N: This is my favorite part of the whole movie. And like what I said about the 'Be Prepared' song, I wish the version of this score that's in the movie was available for download. It's just so much better in my opinion.

Chapter Four: Chili's Big Decision

A saddened Chili slowly walked along the grounds and thought about what was happening and the words between her and her father. She soon found herself before the Stone Dragon statue and climbed up onto the pedestal. Sitting between the front legs of the statue, Chili hugged her knees as tears continued to run down her face. A clap of thunder lightly spooked her, but she didn't move from her spot even when the rain began to pour. Chili took a deep breath before moving to where her legs hung off of the pedestal. She glanced down to a puddle and many thoughts ran through her mind. A bolt of lightning and a boom of thunder came about overhead. A moving light caused her to look back to the house. She saw her mother and father in a room illuminated by candle light. She watched as her father gently tilted her mother's head a little. Chili could tell that they were talking about him going away and began to think about what she could do. When she looked back to the window, she watched as her mother broke away from her father. Mort then picked up the candle before blowing it out and the room became dark. It was then that Chili came to a decision of her own. A determined look now on her face, Chili knew what she needed to do and hopped off the statue.

Water dripped off of Chili when she entered the family temple. It was still illuminated by a small fire as she walked up to the main headstone. She placed a stick against the flame before lifting it up to the pan hanging from the ceiling. When the smoking stick was placed in it, Chili bowed before the headstones before turning to leave. The lucky Cricket happened to have been in the shine when the storm rolled in and had seen everything. Feeling a little worried about the she-dog, Cri-Kee hopped from the stone and off the little pan before hopping along the floor after her. Another bolt of lightning came down and illuminated the main headstone for a moment.

Inside the house, Chili quietly snuck into her parent's bedroom. The two older dogs didn't hear her come in or make her way over to the night stand. Chili saw the scroll that Ar Fe had given her father. Carefully picking it up, she placed her comb with a flower on the top in the spot. Chili looked to her parents for a moment with a smile before turning and walking out of the room.

Chili walked into the room with the cabinet and opened it up. She picked up the sword and set it to the side. Chili quickly dressed herself in the armor before tying the belt around her waist. She completed her disguise by twirling some of the fur on her muzzle to make it look like she had whiskers. When she was finished with her disguise she held the sword with the broad side facing her before putting it back into its sheath.

She soon made her way over into the stables and opened the door. King looked to the entrance to see a dog that he didn't recognize. He whinnied in fear and Chili rushed up and was able to calm him down and with a look from her eyes showed him that it was Chili. Cri-Kee peeked in through the door just when Chili and King walked out of the stables. They headed towards the main gate, but before they could get underway, Chili cast one last glance at the house. She had a quick thought about what she was doing before staying firm with her decision. Quickly climbing onto King's back, they burst through the front entrance. With a slight flick of the reins, they headed out in the rain and disappeared down the road.

Back in the temple, the main headstones carving's eyes glowed for a light blue. Inside the house, Grandma Lucy woke up with a gasp. Picking up a lamp hanging from a stick and lighting it, she quickly ran through the house. She came in to Mort and Grace's room and woke them by saying, "Chili is gone!"

"What?" Both older dogs asked as they sat up in bed. Mort's gaze fell on the comb sitting where his scroll used to be. Picking up the comb, Mort began to fear the worst as he shook his head, "It can't be."

Mort quickly got out of bed and grabbed his cane. He rushed to the room with the cabinet and threw open the doors. He was hoping that it wasn't true, but seeing that his armor and sword were missing he knew that it was true. Mort knew what would happen to his only daughter if she were found out. Though he knew that it was futile, Mort rushed out of the house and called out, "Chili!"

But he didn't even make it to the gate as his old injury caught him off guard and he fell to the ground. He dropped the comb a foot or two and groaned as he picked himself up. He looked to the swinging doors of the entrance and shook his head, "No."

Tears welled up in Mort's eyes as he thought of losing his daughter and his mind wandered to their last words to each other. Grace rushed up to help her husband up. Helping him to his feet she said, "Mort, you must go after her. She could be killed."

"If I were to do that…" Mort said as he looked to his wife. He dreaded every word when he looked to the gate and finished, "She will be."

Grace gasped at the thought and began to cry for her daughter. From the porch, Lucy saw how dire the situation was, could only hope that her granddaughter would be alright. Though she never thought that she would be doing this, Lucy looked to the heavens and prayed, "Ancestors, hear our prayer. Watch over Chili. Please."

Back in the temple, the noise died down as the rain stopped. A gust of wind blew into the temple and blew out the fire. A spiritual light passed over the carved words on the headstone before some of the words glowed even brighter than the others and a spirit whooshed out of the headstone. A Red Heeler with a long white bear and wearing an open robe soon sat upon the top of the headstone before waving his right hand and a cane appeared in it. The spirit looked to the pan with the dragon and commanded, "Mushu, awaken."

The little dragon started to glow before he and the pan fell to the ground with a repeated clang. The Red Heeler spirit watched as the dragon bounced before coming to a stop in a plume of smoke. Suddenly, Mushu, a little red dragon with a yellow underside, rose up all Frankenstein-like and said the famous Frankenstein line, "I live!" Thinking that he was about to get into some action he said, "So tell me what poor mortal needs my protection, great ancestor. You just go on and say the word and I'll be there."

"Mushu…" The Red Heeler spirit tried to say. But he was cut off when Mushu stopped him and went on, "And let me just say somethin'. Anybody who's going to be foolish enough to go and threaten our family, vengeance will be mine!"

The Red Heeler ancestor rolled his eyes as Mushu started growling all menacing like. The Red Heeler ancestor firmly said, "Mushu!"

Mushu cringed from the harsh shout and looked up to the ancestor. The dog spirit gestured to some pedestals with other animals and said, "These up here are the family guardians." Looking to the little dragon he reminded, "And they…"

"Protect the family." Mushu said with disgruntled eye roll. The spirit raised himself up to the top of the temple and showed an empty pedestal, "And you, O demoted one?"

"I, ring the gong." Mushu said unenthusiastically. The spirit nodded as he came back down, "That's right." Then he commanded as he looked to the other stones, "Now, go on and wake up the other ancestors."

Mushu gave a disgusted sigh as he picked up the gong and a stick. He complied with a fake smile, "One family reunion comin' right up."

He started hitting the gong and the stones started glowing as he shouted, "Okay, people, people, look alive now. Let's go. Come on. Get up now.

"Y'all way past the beauty sleep thing by now, trust me." He said as the spirits manifested and were all soon sitting on the stones around the first Redler spirit. The ancestors muttered amongst themselves as they got comfortable. A female Red Heeler seemed very unsettled with the situation as she said, "I knew it. I knew it." Looking to the spirit of a male Red Heeler next to her she said, "That Chili was a troublemaker from the start."

"Don't look at me." The spirit next to her said and pushed her back a little. He tried to make it sound like it wasn't his fault when he argued, "She gets it from your side of the family."

"She's just trying to help her father." Another female Redler tried to defend their descendant. But another male dog spirit suddenly appeared next to her and was able to quickly calculate as he said, "But if she's discovered, based on a ninety-eight-point eight percent chance of that happening, Mort Redler will be forever shamed. Dishonor will come to the family for a great long time. Traditional values will disintegrate quite rapidly."

Everyone, including the great ancestor, was very troubled by this. Over by another pair of Redler Spirits, one from a very familiar painting, the man added, "Not to mention, they'll lose the farm."

"My children have never caused such trouble." The female spirit from before shouted. Down below, Mushu was reading a newspaper while listening to the spirit say, "They all became acupuncturists."

"Well, we can't all be acupuncturists." The male spirit argued. That made an even older female Redler shout, "No! Your great-granddaughter had to be a cross-dresser!"

All the spirits gathered around and started arguing amongst each other. The great ancestor saw that this was starting to get out of hand. Luckily, the arguing ceased when one male Redler spirit went up the pedestals and suggested, "Let a guardian go and bring her back."

"Yes." Another agreed before grabbing a walking Mushu. He floated up to the pedestal that had a statue of a tiger and said, "Awaken the most cunning."

Mushu was about to ring the gong when another spirit grabbed Mushu and presented him to a statue with a rabbit, "No. The swiftest."

Mushu became very annoyed when a third, a female Redler this time, grabbed him and held him before a statue of a monkey, "No. Send the wisest."

"Silence!" The Great Redler Ancestor said, making the spirit drop Mushy with a clang. They looked to him and he gestured out the window with his cane, "We must send the most powerful guardian of all."

The sound of Mushu's laughter made all the spirits look up to him and he climbed up to his old spot. Feeling as if they were referring to him he said, "Okay, okay, I get the drift. I'll go."

The spirits looked to him for a second before they all laughed at the thought. Feeling insulted he questioned, "Y'all don't think that I can do it. Watch this here."

He took a deep breath before letting out a small fire. He laughed when he saw that he had burned a fly. Feeling a little proud of himself he said, "Jump back y'all. I'm pretty hot, huh?" He then warned, "Don't make me have to singe nobody here to prove no point."

"You had your chance to protect the Redler family." The Great Redler spirit objected. The spirit who started the mass argument reminded with disdain, "Your misguidance led Jack Redler to disaster."

Everyone looked to a male Redler spirit who had his head separated from his body. The head rested in the crook of his arm as he still seemed upset about it, "Yeah. Thanks a lot, Mushu."

"And your point is?" Mushu asked, not seeing how one mistake could prevent him from doing the job. The Great Redler spirit came into Mushu's face and said, "The point is, we will be sending a real dragon to go and retrieve Mulan."

Mushu, who had turned away and crossed his arms with a shake of his head, had heard the term 'real dragon' and became flabbergasted. Turning to the spirit he said, "What… What…" He grabbed the spirit's beard and objected to the outrage, "But I'm a real dragon!"

"You are not worthy of this spot." The Great Redler Spirit disagreed as he grabbed Mushu. The little dragon tried to hang on as the spirit pulled while saying, "Now, go and awaken the Great Stone Dragon."

He flung Mushu out the door and the little dragon bounced against the stone floor before disappearing out of the temple with a thump. But before he left, Mushu stuck his head in the entrance and asked with a hopeful smile, "So you'll get back to me on the job thing?"

The answer was a gong to the face that caused Mushu to fall over. The spirits all looked to the Great Redler ancestor as he sighed and rubbed his temple.

Outside the temple, Mushu walked down the stairs and the gong clanged against the stone behind him. Feeling unappreciated he looked back to the temple and said, "Just one chance, is that too much to ask?" He kept walking and slung the gong over his shoulder but glanced back and threw in, "It's not like it would kill you."

He came up to the giant dragon statue and started pounding the gong and shouted, "Yo, Rocky, wake up!" Pointing in the direction that the she-dog went he said, "Ya gotta go and fetch Chili!"

But when nothing happened, Mushu looked to the statue with an annoyed look and made his way around the statue. When he was standing where the eyes were looking down, he acted like he was talking to a dog, "Come on, boy! Go get her!" He threw the stick, "Go on!"

But when the larger dragon still hadn't moved, Mushu picked the gong back up and used it to climb up the statue. When he was face to face with the statue's face, he tried to intimidate the larger dragon with a couple of growls. When it didn't work, he climbed over the dragons head and muttered while grabbing the gong. He moved to the right ear and hung on before giving an echoed, "Hello?"

Mushu started hitting the gong against the side of the Great Stone Dragon's head while shouting, "Hello!

"Hello!" He said when he made a swing at the ear. But it ended up knocking the ear off and Mushu scrambled to catch it. He tried to place it back, but saw that multiple cracks ran over the Great Stone Dragon's body. Knowing that this was bad, Mushu looked about and said, "Uh-oh!"

He quickly moved to the top of the statue's head when the cracking intensified and hugged his tail. The little dragon gasped when the big dragon statue fell apart and he fell to the ground after the head in a large dust cloud. Mushu waved the dust out of his face before looking to the somewhat still intact head of the Great Stone Dragon. He was hoping that the bigger dragon would wake up when he waved his hand in front of the face and asked, "Uh, Stony?" He patted the snout in a vain attempt, "Stony?

"Oh, man, they're gonna kill me for this." Mushu worriedly said when he thought of what the ancestors did. He nearly jumped out of his skin when he heard the Great Ancestor shout, "Great Stone Dragon!" Mushu worriedly looked to the window of the temple and could see the spirit looking out and ask, "Have you awakened?"

"Uh, uh…" Mushu said before moving to lift the head. It was really heavy as he moved up the hill to where the Great Ancestor could see him. He popped up and shouted, "Yes, I just have woke up." He waved his hand, "I'm… I'm the Great Stone Dragon. Good morning." He pointed after the she-dog, "I will go forth and fetch Chili.

"Di-Did I mention that I was the Great Stone Dragon?!" Mushu asked. The Great Ancestor seemed to buy into the ruse and said, "Go! The fate of the Redler family rests in your claws."

"Don't even worry about it." Mushu said, starting to struggle with the weight of the head. He started to lose his balance when he said, "I will not lose face."

He screamed when he lost his footing and he and the head tumbled down the hill. They landed amongst the rubble of the Great Stone Dragon and the head ended up squishing the little red dragon. Mushu moaned in pain, "Oh, my elbow! I know I gone and twisted somethin'."

Mushu was able to push the heavy stone head off of him and it landed behind him with a thud. Looking at the rubble he sounded distraught, "That's just great. Now what? I'm doomed!" He sat on his butt and added, "And it's all 'cause Miss Man decided to take her little drag show on the road."

Mushu sat in defeat with his head in one hand. Cri-Kee hopped up onto the snout of the Great Stone Dragon and chirped some advice. Mushu, having understand what the little bug was saying, stood up and questioned, "Go get her? What's the matter with you?" Gesturing the rubble he said, "After this Great Stone, Humpty Dumpty mess, I'd have to bring her home with a medal to get myself back into the temple."

He turned away, but stopped when he thought about what he said and knew that it was an actual plan. He gasped as a lightbulb went off in his head. Rushing up to Cri-Kee he said, "Wait a minute. That's it! I make Chili a war hero, and they'll be begging me to come back to work." He slapped his palm as he knew that it was a sure-fire plan, "That's the master plan." He became really excited, "Oh, you gone and done it now, man."

Mushu then ran across the Redler estate to the front entrance. Cri-Kee, looking a little unsure about Mushu's plan, hopped off the head and after the little red dragon. He was able to catch up to Mushu and chirped something. Mushu cast an annoyed glance to Cri-Kee and questioned, "Hey, what makes you think that you're comin'?"

Cri-Kee chirped again, saying that he was lucky. Just when Mushu had run out the entrance, he stuck his head back through and asked, "You're lucky." The dragon laughed a little before asking, "Do I look like a sucker to you?"

Cri-Kee hopped up to Mushu and chirped something about being a loser. Mushu glared at the little insect and asked, "What you mean, a loser?" Then he chased after the bug and questioned, "How 'bout if I pop of your antennas off, and throw it across the yard?" He stopped at the corner and finished, "Then who's the loser, me or you?"

Cri-Kee chirped that it would still be him. Mushu groaned before chasing after the bug again. But as the two ran to catch up to Chili, they knew that they would be going on the adventure of a lifetime.

Bluey: Not much difference from the original story.

A shrugging Mushu: Only major difference was that it was with dogs instead of humans.
