Chapter 4: For The Love of...
CH. 3 RECAP: On the football field, I was fighting off Reigns. Reigns was much stronger than me, but I wasn't giving up. At least until I was knocked unconscious, courtesy of Reigns. Nikki, AJ, and John rushed out to help me.
"Nikki, what is going on?!"
"Your guess is as good as mine, John."
"We got to help him!"AJ panicked. Without thinking, John took off, charging towards Reigns.
"JOHN NO!" Nikki and AJ screamed.
"YOU'RE MINE!" John screamed in slow-motion.
JOHN'S POV
I couldn't believe I took Reigns down that fast. He tried to fight me off, but I was too strong. "¡PUTA! ¡NUNCA EN SU VIDA VUELVA A AGRESAR A MI HERMANO!" I shouted as I kept driving my fists into the face of Reigns. I just couldn't stop. Randy means so much to me, and for me to watch and not attempt to defend him...
"JOHN! STOP!" AJ screamed. She ran over to me and tried to pull me off. "Jonathan! Stop!"
I looked up and stopped pummeling Reigns. I looked at him. Broken nose and a black eye. I got off of him and stared. "Get the hell out of here. NOW." I told him. I turned to AJ. "Where's...?"
"Over here!" Nikki screamed. AJ and I ran over to where Nikki was and my heart sank as I sunk to my knees.
"Mi princesa..." Randy was lying there, with a huge bruise on his head and not moving, eyes shut. I kept whispering as I cradled his head. "Please wake up."
Randy didn't move. He just laid there and I couldn't believe it.
"John, do you think he's...?" Nikki and AJ asked me.
I just rocked myself back and forth, cradling Randy's lifeless body. "No, no he isn't."
I gave him a kiss on the forehead and he started to stir and wake up. I looked at him, holding my breath.
"Mi caballero." He looked at me. "Take me home."
Nikki, AJ and I were relieved. Randy was still alive. Thank GOD.
"I wouldn't want to do anything else, but we need to get you checked by the nurse."
An hour later, when AJ and Nikki left, I took Randy to the nurse's office and wanted to be sure he was okay. He had a small bruise on his head and seemed shaken up, but he said he was fine. That's when the nurse gave us bad news.
"Well Randy, I hate to tell you and John that you've suffered a concussion. It's not severe, but you will need to stay home for the rest of the week. As for you, John, I am urging you to take care of him. Ok?" She looked at me, and then pulled me aside and told me something that shook my brain. "I'm his sister, Taylor. Please take care of him and my mother. I want you to keep me updated with them both, alright? I can't lose them."
"I promise." I told her and hugged her.
RANDY'S POV
John took me home, and no one was there. With me almost sleep on his back, he carried me to my, now OUR room, and set me down on our shared bed. "You didn't tell me you had a sister, Randy."
"That's because she left."
"What do you mean?"
"My dad treated her like shit when she was 10. I wasn't born yet. Anyway, she couldn't deal with him anymore, so she moved to Houston with my abuelita when she turned 18, 6 years after I was born. After she passed, she relocated back here to become a nurse and started at our school. I didn't know she worked there for so long, either." John could see I was getting sleepy. "So, yes. I have a loving sister and mother. Two amazing "sisters." And best of all, the greatest soon-to-be stepbrother." I kissed him, and held on to him. "Do you love me, John?"
JOHN'S POV
I didn't know. I've only known him for about 3 months. I took a deep breath and told the truth. Stroking his head on my lap, I started. "From the moment we met, I knew I was brought here for a reason. I love you more than you could ever think. I promised your sister I would take care of you and my stepmother. She can't lose either of you."
"I know. I can't lose her either."
I could see pain, sadness, hurt in Randy's eyes. But most of all, I could see regret. I knew he was keeping a secret from me. One that I'm sure he was told to not say anything about.
"Randy, when something's on your mind, you can always tell me." That's when he started to speak...
"I have a confession, John. When I was 6, it was late at night when this happened, but I heard strange sounds coming from my sister's room. As I got closer to her room, it sounded like she was trying to scream. I looked in and..."
"For the love of GOD, Randy! Why didn't you say anything?!"
