Monday 7th September 2009
"You won't believe what Elena did?!" Jeremy exclaims angrily as he clambers into Angelina's truck, slamming the door behind him.
"Wemy!" Oscar cheers, "Did you have a bad day?" He asks concerned, seeing the scowl on Jeremys face.
"I'm fine Oscar, my sisters just being a little annoying." Jeremy replies, breathing deeply to calm himself down.
"What did she do?" Angelina asks pulling out of the school parking lot.
"She fuc-!" Jeremy bursts out in anger, only to be cut off.
"Remember the parrot." Angelina says absently as she drives towards her house.
"Right." Jeremy clears his throat sheepishly, looking back at Oscar who is watching them intently.
"You know that issue we talked about this morning? Well when I went to the toilet she came barging in, there were others in there and started scolding me about it in front of all of them! Th-the little self righteous- Ugh!" Jeremy rants to Angelina, careful to monitor his words because of Oscar.
"She went into the boys bathroom?!" Oscar exclaims scandalised, even he knows that's not allowed, "That's very naughty!".
"I know right!" Jeremy says turning in his seat to look at Oscar.
"Okay boys settle down." Angelina chides them rolling her eyes, "She's probably just worried about you." she shrugs glancing at him.
"I don't know why you stick up for her, she's a right bi-brat to you!" Jeremy quickly amends, "So is Caroline! You know the rumours they spread about you!" He spits, angry on Angie's behalf.
"I know Jeremy. I'm not sticking up for her, I'm explaining the most likely reason why she acted the way she did." Angelina replies soothingly "Also she didn't start the rumours, she's not the kind of person to do that." she adds thoughtfully.
"And the rumours?" Jeremy pushes, curious as to why she never stops the,.
"Anybody who's worth something knows there just that, rumours. The rumours never reach Oscar, nobody dares to say anything like that to him, so there not doing anybody any harm." Angelina responds unconcerned, as she turns up the track to her house.
"What is w-wumours?" Oscar pipes up from the back confused.
"What are rumours." Angelina corrects gently, "A rumour is... a story that's told about other people that isn't proven as true." She simplifies, whilst Jeremy watches amused.
"Oh! What does pwoven mean?" Oscar asks, his mummy is good at explaining things.
"It's were you show the truth through evidence, evidence is where..." Angelina pauses trying to think of a way to explain it to him " You know when you ate the last cookie, but you said you didn't?" She asks randomly.
"Yes." Oscar confirms, tilting his head confused.
"Well when I saw the cookie crumbs stuck around your mouth, that was evidence that you did eat the cookie." Angelina explains, pulling up to their waterside home.
"Oh! I get it! I've got to tew Mowwy and Puppy!" Oscar exclaims excited wiggling in his car seat, "Wet's go mummy!"
"What's the plan?" Jeremy inquires, turning to look at Angelina as she exits the truck.
"You'll see. Go get changed, there's clothes in your room." Angelina smirks lightly before closing the door.
"Can you tell me what we are doing now AJ." Jeremy whines following Angelina down to the basement, as Oscar plays with his toys upstairs.
"I'm going to teach you how to fight." Angelina answers casually, leading Jeremy into her 'gym'.
"Your going to wh-" Jeremy cuts himself off as he looks around the huge gym.
It had boxing bags of all sizes, a treadmill, rowing machine, cross trainer, stair mill, exercise bike, a massive training station, a boxing ring and an area with... weapons and... targets?
"What is all this?" Jeremy asks in awe "am I drooling?"
"This is my training room!" Angelina declares amused, leading him to the punching bags.
"What are we doing first! Oh oh! Can we do that! Or that! Or that!" Jeremy exclaims very excited, pointing to various things in the room.
"No, we are going to start with building up your strength, stamina and getting rid of your anger." Angelina explains, handing him some boxing gloves.
"How does boxing do that?" Jeremy questions putting on the gloves.
"A punching bag, requires a lot of physical exertion and tests your strength and stamina, it helps burn calories whilst strengthening all your core muscle groups." Angelina teaches him
"Now show me how you would punch it." Angelina says gesturing to the bag.
"Easy!" Jeremy exclaims, standing in front of it and putting his fists up.
"When your doing a straight punch on the bag, you need to be far enough away that when you straighten your arm your fist touches the bag. When you land the hit, your palm needs to be down and you need to land flush with the knuckles." Angelina demonstrates slowly for Jeremy to copy.
"Like this?" Jeremy questions copying her and hitting the bag.
"Yes that's it, now when your doing hooks you need to get in close to the bag, nearly put your head on the bag, this is a really close punch. If you throw the punch from out here, that's only a slap that will just sprain your wrist and you won't have any power behind the punch. Again when you hit the bag from the side your palm need to be down and your knuckles need to land flush." Angelina teaches showing him the moves as she goes.
Jeremy nods his brow furrowed in concentration as he gets in close to the bag and punches it repeatedly from the side, knuckles flush and palm down alternating hands.
"Well done." Angelina praises "For body shots, you need to be down low and you need to punch palm up an hit with your knuckles. Now it's important to do head slips, that's when you move your head from one side of the bag to the other depending on which side your punching, this helps to protect yourself and make it harder for your opponent to hit you in the head. It's also important that when the bag is swinging and moving you need to hit it, but when it comes swinging towards you step to the side slip by it and punch it on the other side." Angelina explains demonstrating all the while with Jeremy copying on the bag next to her.
"Right! Before I leave you to your own devices, there are ground rules. Firstly anything I teach you can only be used in self defence or in the defence of others, you are not to use it for your own gain. Secondly, you are not to use any of the equipment without me showing you how to use it safety or giving you permission. Thirdly, you are not to touch any of the weapons over there and they are not to leave the room until I deem you can do so. Anything you don't understand?" Angelina states, looking at Jeremy sternly.
"Yes AJ, I understand." Jeremy agrees, nodding solemnly.
"Good, now I want you to alternate punches for the next 30 minutes, after that come up to shower and get changed, then I'll drop you off at the grill." Angelina added before making her way out of the room.
"I saw Vicki today." Jeremy blurts out suddenly, needing to tell someone.
"Vicki, the girl you like?" Angelina asks turning back around to face him.
"Yeah, she was after some drugs and I said I didn't do them anymore. She got really upset with me that I wouldn't supply for her and then Tyler Lockwood her douche of a boyfriend came over and said he knew he would find her with the crackheads." Jeremy confessed, "With the summer... I thought she would still like me despite that but.." he trails off feeling very used.
"Vicki is not in a good place right now and I think that if you're really meant to be together she will come around, however being with Vicki as she is now will only negatively effect you. So give her time and see where things go." Angelina advised him, knowing how much he likes her.
"Thanks AJ." Jeremy muttered, before turning and punching the bag, as Angelina leaves.
"And to be honest, I think you could do much better for yourself!" Angelina calls over her shoulder, Jeremys chuckles following her out the room.
After being dropped off by Angelina, Jeremy wanders into The Grill, dressed in a black hoodie and some jeans. Instantly he's hit with the sound of music and laughter, the two constants at Mystic Grill, as he smiles looking around.
"Hey!" Jeremy greets Vicki when he spots her, hoping her earlier attitude was a one time thing.
"Working." Vicki replies curtly, before sashaying off her long brown hair swaying behind her, a tray full of food in hand.
Jeremy sighs and watches her go thoughtfully, it looks like AJ was right, as always. He makes his way to the bar to order a drink, ready to hang out with his school mates.
"Thanks Vik." Matt thanks his sister gratefully, still dressed in his red mystic-falls jacket, as Vicki places the tray between him and Tyler.
Vicki ignores him and turns to Tyler, "Do you need another refill?" She asks leaning on the table and biting her lip as she looks at him.
"I would love one." Tyler replies smirking slightly making Vicki internally swoon, his dark hair and eyes paired with his leather jacket all give him a serious bad boy vibe.
Pulling herself together Vicki gives Tyler a light smirk and grabs his empty glass, making sure to sway her hips as she walks away.
Matt watches Tyler watch Vicki walk off, very aware of exactly where his gaze is.
"Please tell me your not hooking up with my sister!" Matt pleads his best friend, knowing its hopeless.
"I'm not hooking up with your sister." Tyler replies seriously, dragging his gaze away from Vicki and turning to Matt, as his twitching lips betray him.
"Your such a dick." Matt groans, before shoving a fry in his mouth as he shakes his head.
"Ugh!" Vicki groans seeing Jeremy sat at the bar.
"Look I know we hung out during summer and you gave me some pharmaceuticals, but you've got to stop following me around like a lost puppy!" Vicki snaps at him, as she goes behind the bar to refill Tyler's drink.
"Don't think so highly of yourself, I'm sitting having a drink, that's not exactly following you around." Jeremy says rolling his eyes.
"Anyway when was the last time you had sex with a puppy." Jeremy asks incredulously, annoyed with her attitude as he ignores her dig about the drugs, he doesn't do that shit anymore.
"Keep it down!" Vicki hisses, quickly turning to face him her hoop earrings hitting her face, "I don't want everyone to know I deflowered Elena's kid brother!"
"And deflowered and deflowered and deflowered." Jeremy smirks, winding her up to mask the slight hurt he feels.
"Shut up! God knows what your murd- sister would do if she heard!" Vicki stutters slightly, as she remembers who she's talking to. She could not believe she'd nearly said that to his face.
"Don't call Angelina that! She's not a murderer! You pathetic druggy!" Jeremy practically growls, causing Vicki eye to widen.
Jeremy closes his eyes, breathing deeply to try and calm himself down. He knows he needs to end this conversation quickly, because he is this close to hitting her and that's not the kind of person he wants to be.
"Besides it too late for that, nothing passes AJ." Jeremy says finally, before walking to the other side of the bar, sick off Vicki's shit.
Vicki watches him go her eyebrows furrowed, Jeremys never not given her attention before. She...she doesn't like it...
"I'm meeting Bonnie at The Grill." Elena tells Jenna heading to the door, her coat draped over her arm.
"Okay have fun." Jenna replies before gasping and spinning around, her flower cardigan flaring out "Wait! I got this!" She exclaims, holding her hands out as Elena turns to face her, "Don't stay out late it's a school night." She says smoothly, looking very pleased with herself as she heads to the kitchen.
"Well done Aunt Jenna." Elena chuckles, heading to the door.
Opening the door Elena gasps, there in front of her is Stefan Salvatore, with his deep-set forest green eyes, angular jawline, spiked dark brown hair and heart warming smile.
"Sorry I was about to knock." Stefan explains looking sheepish, "I wanted to apologise for my disappearing act earlier, I know it was...strange."
"No worries" Elena reassures him, "I get it... blood makes you squeamish." she adds laughter in her voice.
"Something like that." Stefan chuckles, as he rocks back on his heels, "How's your leg?" He asks, gesturing to where she was injured in the cemetery.
"Oh it's fine, It's just a scratch really!" Elena giggles, before a thought hit her "How did you know where I live?" She wonders, frowning slightly.
"It's a small town, I just asked the first person I saw." Stefan explains with a shrug, "Oh... I thought you might want this back?" He guessed, reaching behind him to grab her journal, before passing it to her.
"Ugh, I must have dropped it... Thank you!" Elena exclaims, cradling her journal to her chest.
"Don't worry I didn't read it." Stefan reassures her, seeing the look on her face.
"No?" Elena questions in disbelief tilting her head, "Why not? Most people would have.".
"Well I... wouldn't want anyone to read mine." Stefan explains sincerely, eyebrows furrowed. He would never disrespect a persons privacy like that. He snorts mentally at the irony. After all, he's been watching her for months.
"You keep a journal?" Elena asks softly, very surprised, could this man get anymore perfect?
"Yeah, if I don't write it down I forget it and memories are too important" Stefan says, gazing into Elena's eyes.
"Yeah." Elena sighs gazing right back, before turning away.
"I'm just gonna..." Elena says gesturing behind her with her journal, "You don't have to stay out there." She adds before heading back into the house to put her journal away.
Stefan grimaces and slowly steps forward, putting a hand on either side of the door
"I'm fine here." Stefan calls into the house, unable to enter. Sometimes it really sucks being a vampire.
"Having some trouble?" A cool feminine voice questions from behind him.
Stefan quickly spins around and freezes, in front of him is a short lean intimidating woman with fiery red hair and a sleeping child on her hip, that she seemingly carries with ease. But what causes him to freeze is the large scar on her face. Over her left eye is a long scar that begins an inch above her eyebrow and ends about two inches below it, the scar was on her eyelid too, he wonders how close she came to losing her sight.
"I'm sorry?" Stefan questions confused, snapping out of it, realising he was staring.
The woman just quirks an eyebrow and smirks.
"Angelina?" Elena questions from the door way, having come back from putting her journal away.
"Elena." Angelina greets coolly "May I come in? Jenna's expecting us." she asks out of courtesy, knowing she's welcome at anytime.
"Yes, please come in." Elena stutters stepping aside to let her through, as always avoiding looking at her face.
"Thank you, pleasure meeting you Stefan Salvatore." Angelina says impassively as she enters the house disappearing into the kitchen, where Elena and Stefan can hear Jenna cooing over Oscars cuteness.
"Who was that?" Stefan enquires curiously, eyebrows furrowed.
"Oh um, that's Angelina Asterseul and her son Oscar, she's Jenna's best friend." Elena explains, putting her bag strap over her shoulder.
"Oh, Sorry were you going somewhere?" Stefan apologies, realising he may be holding her up.
"Yeah I'm meeting a friend." Elena trails off gazing into his eyes "Do you... do you want to come?" She asks shyly.
"I'd love to." Stefan replies just as softly, causing Elena to smile.
It's only when they walk off of the porch that Stefan realises. He never told Angelina his name.
"How's Elena doing?" Matt asks, sitting at the grill with Bonnie by the fire, his hands together and elbows on his knees.
"Her mum and dad died, how do you think? She's putting on a good face but it's only been four months." Bonnie tells him softly, knowing he's just worried, as she sits in the armchair her blue top contrasting beautifully with her dark skin.
"Has she said anything about me?" Matt questions unashamed, leaning forward eagerly. He needs to know how the she is, no matter if they're broken up he still loves and cares about her.
"Oh no, so not getting in the middle. You pick up the phone and call her." Bonnie states firmly. She can already feel the headaches and drama it would cause if she became the middle person.
"I feel weird calling her! She broke up with me." Matt protests, waving his hands around.
"Give it more time Matt." Bonnie suggests, before the door opening behind him catches her attention.
Matt turns to see what she's looking at, and there walking into the grill is Elena with Stefan Salvatore.
Caroline freezes across the room where she's talking to Jeremy, who turns to see what's the matter, raising his eyebrows at the sight, a pool stick in hand.
"More time huh?" Matt says sarcastically, turning to Bonnie eyebrows raised.
Bonnie sighs exasperated as Matt rises and heads over to them, trying to look intimidating. Caroline and Jeremy perk up across the room at the sign of some drama.
"Hey I'm Matt, nice to meet you." Matt greets Stefan, chickening out of trying to be intimidating at the last minute, holding his hand out for Stefan to shake.
"Hi, Stefan." Stefan replies, shacking matts hand briefly, as Matt glances at Elena longingly.
"Hey." Elena greets Matt with a small smile.
"Hey." Matt says briefly, his voice gruff as he glances between Stefan and Elena.
Caroline, Stefan, Elena and Bonnie all sit in armchairs around a coffee table, Caroline opposite Stefan and Bonnie and Elena on either side.
"So you where born in Mystic Falls?" Caroline questions Stefan, listening intently.
"Mmhuh." Stefan hums "And I moved when I was still young." He answers patiently.
"Parents?" Caroline asks another question, enjoying the interri- conversation.
"My parents passed away." Stefan answers, glancing at Bonnie and Elena.
"I'm sorry." Elena says after taking a breath to compose herself,
Bonnie looking at her worried as Stefan dips his head in thanks, his lips in a thin line.
"Any siblings?" Elena asks, trying to avert the subject. She hopes one day she can talk about it, but right now the wound is too fresh.
"None that I talk to." Stefan admits, primarily talking to Elena now "I... I live with my uncle." he adds, seeing the concern on her face.
Caroline and Bonnie watch them gaze at each other before Caroline decides to intervene.
"So Stefan! If your new then you don't know about the party tomorrow!" Caroline exclaims smiling at him as she rests her hands under her chin.
"It's a back to school thing at the falls." Bonnie explains, seeing Stefan's furrowed brow.
"Are you going?" Stefan enquires tilting his head to look at Elena.
"Of course she is!" Bonnie interrupts mischievously, causing Elena to look at her out of the corner of her eye in fond exasperation. Only to shyly duck her head as she catches Stefan gazing at her, making him smile at the sight.
"You promised!" A man in his late 20s, dressed in a thick grey jumper, accuses striding into Stefan's dark bedroom, newspaper in hand.
Stefan frowns in confusion, snatching the paper out of Zach's hands. His eyes widen, the title reading 'Bodies Found Mutilated By Animal' and a picture of a young man and women next to it.
"This was an animal attack." Stefan says, handing back the paper to Zack, eyebrows furrowed.
"Don't give me that! I know the game! You tear them up enough they always suspect an animal attack! You said you had it under control!" Zack rant angrily, not buying the innocent act for a minute.
"And I do." Stefan states, frowning at the other man and turning away.
"Please uncle Stefan!" Zach pleads, "Mystic Falls is a different place now, it's been quite for years, but there are people that still remember. And you being here, it's just going to stir things up."
"That's not my intention." Stefan scowls slightly at the younger man.
"Then what is?! Why did you come back after all this time?! Why now?!" Zach demands, frustrated with Stefan's short answers.
"I don't need to explain myself!" Stefan states, looking at Zack sternly.
"I know... that you can't change what you are. But you don't belong here anymore." Zack insists gently, looking at his uncle imploringly.
"Then where do I belong?" Stefan questions Zack rhetorically, raising an eyebrow at him.
"I can't tell you what to do." Zack concedes, "But coming back here was a mistake." he adds defeatedly, throwing down the newspaper onto a chair, before walking to the door.
"What do you know about Angelina Asterseul?" Stefan suddenly asks, just before Zack leaves.
"Angelina Asterseul?" Zack repeats, turning to look at his uncle who nods, "Why do you want to know?"
"She knew my name, I've never met her before and... she made a comment when I couldn't get in the house." Stefan explains hesitantly "She almost seemed to... know."
"First of all it's a small town, everyone knows everyone, so she probably guessed who you where, your the only new guy." Zack pauses before hesitantly continuing "Secondly, I wouldn't worry too much about it, she was probably just making fun at your expense. Just... leave her alone... she's been through enough." He adds, not wanting Stefan to mess with her, for his sake. He remembers just how ruthless Angelina can be and knows that she is the last person that you want to mess with.
"What do you mean 'been through enough'? What has she been through?" Stefan questions intrigued, after listening intently.
"That is no ones business but her own, the fact that people still gossip about it is sick." Zack declares firmly, before walking out of the room, finished with the conversation.
Stefan watches him go thoughtfully wondering what he meant. Shaking his head he strode to his wardrobe, opening it to reveal hundreds of journals. Reaching for an old looking one, he pulls in out flicking to the page he knows like the back of his hand. And there in the journal is an old, black and white picture of Elena. And under it a name and year is written... Katherine... 1864.
Tuesday 8th September 2009
The next day, Angelina sits at her desk looking critically through the folders in front of her, whilst Oscar has his afternoon nap. The folders are full of information about the founding family's, specifically the Salvatore family, dated 1840 to 1870.
Stefan Salvatore: Born 1846 - Died 1864.
"Well he's a vampire." Angelina muses to herself, leaning back in her chair, hand on her chin thoughtful, "But not the vampire I'm looking for." she sighs, pursing her lips.
"What do you think Molly?" Angelina asks spinning around to look at her dog, who's dozing peacefully on the loveseat that sits in the middle of her office library. Her only response was a large snore.
"Really helpful." Angelina comments dryly, rolling her eyes, she goes to close the folder ready to put it away, before something caught her eye.
Damon Salvatore: Born 1839 - Died 1864.
"I wonder..." Angelina trails of and quickly rises from her chair. Striding towards one of her inbuilt bookcases, she grabbed a journal labelled Mystic Falls 1864. A journal her ancestor Amber Astaseul wrote.
Sitting back in her black leather office chair, she quickly flicks through the journal, "Salvatore... Salvatore... Salvatore..." she mutters to herself, eyes scanning the pages "Salva- ah here!" She exclaims softly when she finds the page.
Dear Journal,
... A new girl came to town today, Giuseppe Salvatore has taken her in, her name is Katherine Pierce...
Dear Journal,
... Katherine Pierce is a vampire, of that I'm certain and she has everybody wrapped around her twisted little finger...
Dear Journal,
... The Vampire attacks are rising and Katherine is still playing with the Salvatore brothers like puppets. They hate each other. Each competing for her love. They use to be so close she's torn them apart...
Dear Journal,
Tonight was chaos. All the vampires have been rounded up and shoved in the tomb under the church. Many have burnt. The Salvatore brothers are dead. Killed when they tried to free Katherine. And I can guarantee it was all part of Katherine's plan. I don't know her goal. All I know, is that she is not in that tomb...
Dear Journal,
Stefan and Damon Salvatore are vampires. Turns out Katherine has been feeding them her blood and Stefan was under compulsion the whole time. Whilst Damon... Damon still hates him to the soul...
"Damon Salvatore huh?" Angelina muses, closing the journal, "I think I've found my vampire."
"Mummy?" A small voice pipes up from outside the door, little hands knocking on the door.
"Come in Oscar!" Angelina calls out, a smile on her face as she spins to face the door.
"Hi mummy!" Oscar shouts, racing into the room his clothes ruffled and launching himself at his mummy.
"Ugh!" Angelina grunts catching him, causing the chair to go rolling backwards hitting the desk hard.
"Ooops?" Oscars says sheepishly, looking up at his mummy with a nervous smile.
"What am I going to do with you?" Angelina asks exasperated, rolling her eyes.
"...Cuddle me?" Oscar offers, looking up at her with his puppy eyes, watching as his mummy melts.
Angelina chuckles and hold him tightly, kissing the top of his head as he burrows into her.
"How was your nap?" She asks, carding her hand through his blonde hair.
"I swept good! But Puppy is stiw asweep, He's been weal wazy!" Oscar complains, pouting slightly as he plays with her curly red hair.
"He's still just a baby Oscar, he needs sleep." Angelina explains, standing up with him in her arms and putting the journal away.
"Mowwy's stiw asweep and she not a baby!" Oscar protests, pointing accusingly at Molly who's still asleep on the couch.
"That's because Molly is lazy... how about you wake her up?" She smirks, placing him on the floor.
"Okay!" Oscar chirps before racing over to Molly and whispering gently in her ear "Mmmooowyyyy! Chicken!".
Angelina watches Molly leap up in amusement causing Oscar to quickly jump back. Molly looks around wagging her tail excitedly, her nose frantically sniffing the air, only to droop when she smells no chicken.
"Twicked you Mowwy!" Oscar cheers, laughing his head off at his 'amazing' prank.
"Poor Molly." Angelina chuckles, "Come on you two, let's go get you a snack." she adds making her way out of her office library.
"What you wowkin on mummy?" Oscar questions, as him and Molly follow her out of the room, his mummy locking the door behind them.
"Just some family history." Angelina answers vaguely, leading the way to the kitchen.
Oscar just pouts, stomping behind her. His mummy never tells him anything!
Later on, in the dark of night at the falls, Jeremy watches in horror as Vicki is loaded into the ambulance. Quickly fumbling for his phone, he quickly dials the person he really needs to talk to right now.
"AJ?!" Jeremy chocked out through the phone, clutching it desperately.
"Jeremy what's wrong?" Angelina asks, causing Jeremy to sigh in relief.
"The back to school party was tonight and Vicki she- I found her in the forest! God AJ! I though she was dead! She has a massive bite wound on her neck!" Jeremy blurted out, running his hand through his hair.
"Jeremy calm down, is she getting help?" Angelina questions.
She's always cool as a cucumber! Jeremy thinks to himself hysterically.
"Yeah, she's being loaded into the ambulance, the police are here." Jeremy nods, before realising she can't see him.
"Then you have done all that you can. If it wasn't for you finding her, she would have probably bled out before she could get help. You did good Rem." Angelina soothes him through the phone, making him feel a little calmer.
"I keep seeing it, every time I close my eyes!" Jeremy confesses, shook up from the experience.
"Everything will be fine Jeremy. Now I want you to go home with Elena and no more going into the woods or out at dark, this is the second attack in three days." Angelina orders him firmly, wishing she was there. "Do you want me to come to yours?".
"No, I'll be fine, I'll- I'll make sure to text you when I get home." Jeremy croaks, not wanting to inconvenience her "Thanks AJ."
"You don't have to thank me Jeremy, I'm always here if you need me. Even when you don't." Angelina explains.
"Love you Remy, stay safe." Angelina adds, knowing he needed to here it.
"I will be, Love you too." Jeremy smiles faintly before hanging up.
"Who was that?" Elena questions as she walks up to him leaning onto the table next to him.
"AJ." Jeremy says shortly, grabbing his beer and having another swig.
"You okay?" Elena asks placing a hand on his shoulder concerned.
Jeremy goes to shrug it off before freezing, remembering what AJ said to him yesterday.
"I know your sister may annoy you sometimes." Angelina states, keeping her eyes firmly on the road.
"But don't push her away. You never know how quickly they can be taken away." Angelina whispered to him distantly.
It had been the first time she'd talked about it in years and she did it for him. Jeremy glances at Elena, only to see her trying not to smile.
"I've called Jenna, she's on her way." Elena announces, reluctantly taking her hand off his shoulder. It's the first time he has allowed her to touch him since the crash.
"You know those people in uniforms, last time I checked their the police." Elena says, leaning towards him as though it's a secret.
Jeremy rolls his eyes and takes another guzzle of his beer, before throwing it behind them.
"People are gonna stop... giving you breaks Jer! They just don't care anymore, they don't remember that our parents are dead! Because... they've got their own lives to deal with! The rest of the world has moved on... you should try too." Elena pleads, hoping to get through to him.
"I've seen you in the cemetery writing in your diary, it that- is that supposed to be you moving on?" Jeremy accuses defensively, turning to face her.
Elena's quite for a moment, shaking her head she carries on "Mum and dad wouldn't have wanted this." she finally says, feeling defeated.
"Well you don't have to worry, the only thing I've consumed is alcohol, just like every other teenager here." Jeremy comments, closing his eyes.
"What do you- I thought-" Elena cuts herself off confused.
"I've stopped taking drugs." Jeremy tells her quietly "AJ took them all off me yesterday, said she let me cope however I needed to over the summer, but it had to stop."
Elena opens and closes her mouth in shock. "How are you coping? Any withdrawal?" Elena asks, after having pulled herself together.
"Haven't really had a chance to have withdrawals, AJ took me to work out after school today and yesterday. It stops the symptoms, for me at least." Jeremy explains, avoiding looking at her.
"And also I wouldn't dare try to get anymore drugs, AJ would know and then she'd use my guts as garlands!" Jeremy adds amused, knowing AJ she'd do it as well.
"I'm proud of you." Elena says, smiling at him.
"And thank god for Angelina." Elena adds in disbelief. She had never liked Angelina, she'd always made her feel like she was second best.
"That's a sentence I never thought you would say!" Jeremy smirks, causing Elena to laugh.
At the hospital, Matt sits in a hard plastic chair beside Vicki's bed, waiting anxiously for her to wake up. He felt completely useless and his mind was racing. What if Vicki doesn't wake up? She the only family he has, with their mother constantly running off into the sunset with her boyfriends. She's his sister, he was meant to look after her and he can't even do that right!
Hearing a weak groan from the bed, Matts head snaps up and he slumps in relief as Vicki's eyes slowly flutter open.
"Hey... hey... it's okay." Matt whispers to her softly holding her hand, his baby blue eyes watching her concerned.
"Matt..." Vicki croaks quietly, trying not to cry.
"Shhh... Don't try to talk okay?... You're fine." Matt soothes her gently, watching her for any signs of pain.
"Vampire!" Vicki gasps painfully, her eyes haunted.
Matt observes her in shock, before beginning to panic. What if the incident effected her brain?! Was she high?! Was she telling the truth?! Should I call the nurse?! Was it the medication?!
A knock at the room door causes him to jump out of his skin, quickly spinning around.
"Come in!" Matt calls out, turning to find his sister has fallen back to sleep.
"Hey." Angelina says from the doorway, dressed in black skinny jeans, a silk royal blue vest and a leather jacket with bag in hand and Oscar fast asleep in his pushchair.
"Hey." Matt greets her unsure, "Your Miss Asterseul right? What are you doing here?" Matt asks confused as to why she's here, they don't know each other and she has no reason to come visit them at this time of night.
"Just call me Angelina." Angelina requests with a quirk of her lips, "And I came to bring you supplies." she explained, holding up the duffle bag in her hand.
"Why?" Matt questions, still confused "No that I'm not grateful! It's just- I don't-" he adds hastily, only to be cut off.
"I came, because you will need things for your stay in the hospital and I know what it's like to have shitty parents." Angelina smirks wryly, wheeling the pushchair into the room and closing the door behind her.
Angelina strides forward and hands Matt the bag, who opens it hesitantly to see it full of clothes for himself and Vicki, toiletries, magazines, chargers and some snacks.
"Thank you" Matt chokes up, no ones ever done anything like that for them before, "I can pay yo-" he goes to say only to be interrupted again.
"Don't even try it's a gift, I want nothing from you." Angelina says firmly, "How is she?" She asks diverting the attention.
"She's fine physically, they said she will make a full recovery. But..." Matt trails off unsure of what to say.
Angelina waits patiently, willing to let him gather his thoughts.
"I'm worried for her mentally." Matt finally admits, shaking his head.
"She woke up a minute ago muttering something about vampires" Matt adds, really worried about his baby sister.
"Vampires?" Angelina asks in disbelief, "I wouldn't worry too much Matt, it's probably a combination of the medication and drugs, it probably made her see things." she carries on wanting to reassure him, the last thing she wants is Vicki thrown into a mental hospital.
"You think?" Matt questions hopefully, looking at her for any signs of deceit, finding none.
"Yes." Angelina states firmly, "Now I'm going to leave you to rest, but if you need me for anything give me a shout, here's my number." she's says handing him a piece of paper.
"I don't want to be a bother!" Matt worries looking at her unsure.
"I wouldn't offer if it was." Angelina assures him honestly, wanting to make sure their both okay.
"Thank you." Matt smiles weakly, taking the slip of paper, it's been so long since someone has cared about the Donovan siblings. It's...nice.
"Don't worry about it." Angelina smirks lightly, before grasping the pushchair and walking out of the room, closing the door behind her.
Matt turns back to his sister a small smile on his face.
It never crosses Matts mind about how she got in. It's past visiting hours.
